Switch between 2 firmwares - XPERIA X10 General

Hi
I bring my small contribution to help anyone interested in switching between two firmwares. It is based on my knowledge of tools used. I tell the various steps through which I went to do this on my Xperia X10i.
Why?
I bought my mobile phone at well-known operator. The phone worked normally until the day (4 months after purchase) it fails to load more by the electric current. From my research on the Internet, tracks the micro USB connector would have dropped. This is a common problem for some series of Xperia X10 marketed initially by SonyEricsson. Fortunately, I could still connect the phone to the PC.
To present it to authorized service center, I had to put original firmware. But at the same time, I do not want to lose the installed configuration (Global Generic firmware with all the installed applications and personal settings effected) and not having to redo everything after the return of the phone.
How?
My solution is xRecovery. And here's how I proceeded.
1 - Update BusyBox and re-root. Restart
2 - Reinstall xRecovery, so that it operates on the basis of the new version of BusyBox. Turn off the phone.
3 - Run the phone, launch xRecovery with the Return key and make a backup of Global Generic custom configuration.
4 - follow the method outlined on this page to install the original firmware : here.
5 - update BusyBox so as to have the same version as in point 1 above because xRecovery does not work if you change the version of BusyBox (here). Root with z4root. Restart then install xRecovery (if it does not work, repeat the installation several times until you have green check marks on the 3 lines installer xRecovery).
6 - Run xRecovery with the Return key and make a backup of original firmware. Restart
7 - Run xRecovery with the Return key and make a restoration of the Global Generic custom firmware.
This method allows, through xRecovery, to move from one firmware to another based on the 2 backups made.
After recovering the phone from the operator, simply repeat steps 5-7 to reinstall its preferred configuration (point 3).
My method is perhaps not perfect but it worked for me.
Excuse my English
Regards.

[Guide] How To Update Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 to JPKC4 2.2.2 Firmware

If you have recently purchased the latest SAMSUNG Galaxy Pro handset then we will see on how you can update to the latest firmware of Android 2.2.2 version from the current version of either 2.2.1 or even 2.2 Froyo version. There are many add-ons which have been included in this update of Froyo 2.2.2 version which we will see in the due course of this article. Please note that any one from any part of the World can proceed and update their device of SAMSUNG Galaxy Pro handset but the only condition being that you should ensure that your phone is not a network locked handset which means that your handset should not be network locked which means that in other words it should be SIM FREE. The simplest way to find whether the device is network locked or not then you can just find by a simply trick that is if you see any operator’s name on the phone then it’s a Network locked phone and this update is not for you guys. The reason being this update will or will not work on this phone is because all the network locked phones are only updated with the Operator as it has some dedicated applications. This all new update of SAMSUNG Galaxy Pro is dubbed as Froyo JPKC4 which we will look on how you can update with the same.
So, let’s proceed and see on what are the things which you will have to look out for before updating your phone as well as while updating your phone. So it’s highly recommended to follow the instructions carefully before proceeding to the update as if you don’t follow the instructions which are mentioned below then there is a high probability that you may even brick your phone and your phone may turn into an expensive paperweight after which your device may or may not become repairable or irreparable.
There are several improvements which have been done. Please note that there are no changes if you compare with the version of. Please note that many users keep repeatedly address the issue of NO INTERNET CONNECTION working after the firmware update, for all those i would like to say that since the firmware upgrade process will be undergone all the APN Settings which are responsible for the Internet access will be wiped and you will have to reconfigure them all to get an Internet access and in the same way you will also have to configure all the MMS settings to be able to send the MMS from your phone after the firmware update. Also, updating this firmware in any manner will not void the warranty or spoil the phone as long as you are following every single instruction which is mentioned below. Please note that in any manner that is in part or in whole we can’t be held responsible for anything and this firmware is not recommended for all those whose phones are network locked.
Pre requisites for Firmware update:
Please note that before proceeding to the updation of the Galaxy Pro, ensure that your phone is having the model number as Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 and not any other similar looking phones as if you install with this firmware then some of the functionalities won’t run and could even lead to serious damage to your phone.
Ensure that all data which is present in your phone is backed up in your computer which can be done by using the Astro File Manager application. Also, you can manage all contacts by syncing all of them with the Gmail.
Next up ensure that you have removed the SIM card as well as the external SD cards if any in the phone,
After this, ensure that you keep some things like USB cable which you have got with your Galaxy S GT I9000 and also the Galaxy S device,
Most importantly you need to ensure that your phone has atleast75-80% of battery power left, this is just an advisory which if followed then you will not experience any difficulties as while updation of the device the battery consumption is at a maximum,
Ensure that your computer / laptop which runs on a XP, Vista or Windows 7 OS the firewall and other antivirus programs are disabled and also you should have admin privileges to download and install the software including the drivers and also along with this you will be requiring the USB port on your computer which supports USB 2.0.
(Optional) Many of the Galaxy Pro users have reported the problem that they are unable to get into the download mode which is the top most necessity for updating your device, so for all those we came up with a tutorial here, just follow the given instructions and you can easily fix the download mode and also the recovery mode bug. This procedure is only for those whose devices unable to get into the download mode and the recovery mode.
Please note that flashing with the firmwares doesn’t mean that you are ROOTING Galaxy Pro. If you have flashed with Voodoo Lag fixes then too you can easily flash your device with this firmware.
Ensure that you have closed the KIES completely and also disable any firewalls, antivirus if any. Be rest assured as all the files which are mentioned in this article are safe and virus free.
Procedure to install Froyo 2.2 in SAMSUNG Galaxy Pro :
First of all you will have to download the Froyo JPKC4 2.2 Zip file from here and need to unzip the same to get the files and also the flash tool Odin too will be contained in this. Please note that in the process of extraction, if you are prompted to enter any password then enter the password as “samfirmware.com” without the inverted comas. Preferably, extract to the desktop so that you can easily find the file for flashing it to your phone. Please note that you should not rename the file in any manner or else the files won’t be recognized by the flashing tool which is Odin in this case.
Now, after finishing the download you will have to now ensure that you are turning your phone off so that the download mode which is nothing but the safe mode is activated in your phone. After turning Off the phone, you will have to first push the “Q” button to enter in to the download mode which will look like as shown in the below screen shot. If you have successfully entered into the download mode then you will see a green screen which is shown below. Also, additionally note that if the device boots in the normal mode with the home screen then you will have to again switch off the device and retry the process and if despite retrying you are unable to get into download mode then you will have to fix the download mode error for your phone. You can see the download mode screen on how it looks like.
Now, after this you will have to connect the phone to the computer where you have downloaded and extracted the zip file from the above link. Please note that while connecting the USB cable you will have to make sure that the Odin software is open as mentioned and shown above, as soon as you connect the phone to the Odin, the ID COM block will turn yellow after which you will have to enter the files by clicking on the corresponding options as shown below,
BOOT – APBOOT_B7510JPKC4_CL968357_REV00_user_low_true.tar.md5,
Phone – MODEM_B7510JXKC2_REV00.tar.md5,
PDA – CODE_B7510JPKC4_CL968357_REV00_user_low_true.tar.md5,
CSC – CSC_B7510OJPKC2_CL951730_REV00_user_low_true.tar.md5,
As soon as you feed in the files, you will have to double check the same and then you will have to proceed and click on the “Start” option to start the firmware update process. After clicking on the start, you will see that the firmware will be installed in your phone within a time of not more than 5 minutes.
Now, you can see that the flashing process is being in process and you will have to make sure that you don’t interrupt the flashing process as this may be fatal for your phone. So, after few minutes of time you will see the Odin screen as shown below,
Now, that’s it as soon as you see that the above screen is shown in the Odin, you will have to wait for the home screen to see in the phone and there you go, you have now successfully installed the latest firmware of 2.3.3 Gingerbread for your Galaxy Gio Android phone. Now, after this you will have reset the phone just to ensure that all the cache data is erased which can be done by following the below step.
For checking on which firmware you are currently on, you will have to go to the Settings > About Phone> Firmware Version where you will find the version of Android OS where it will show 2.3.4. As you can see above that we have shown some of the images of latest Gingerbread update of 2.3.3. So, let us know if you face any sorts of issues as we will see to it that all issues are resolved. Alternatively, you can also dial *#1234# to check the version number.

Newbie guide for rooting SGP312 Sony Xperia Tablet Z

Hi all!
I am writing some instructions for newbies like me that wish to root their Xperia Tablet Z. I spent a lot of hours trying to understand how things work and I try to fill this gap with this post. If anybody knows, I would like to have an answer on the DRM, and model type questions that I have colored red in the text.
I was a "proud" owner of Sony Xperia Tablet Z WIFI 32GB (SGP312) that I bought from northern Europe last September. It was my first Android device and I consider myself super newbie on this "sport". Since my last official Sony system upgrade ~1-2 months ago I had sound problems with skype. I could not make a call without a handset and also my sony speakers refused to reproduce any youtube video. Nonetheless, the alarm was working fine! I was disappointed and after a factory reset the sound problems persisted. Thus, I decided to delve into the rooting world.
So long story short, we can install whichever stock/original firmware we want if it is designed for our devices consulting the precious links in xda-developers.com forums. Then we can either stay with this or install custom "ROMs" having our tablet "rooted".
My first goal is to fix the sound problem so I tried following the stock firmware route.
I flashed the firmware(s) with the quite intuitive Flashtool. Beware that I had already installed the required Google's Android SDK/ADT kit in my windows machine, although I performed every task in my linux machine in order to have working fastboot and adb commands with the minimal fuss installation-wise. To flash the stock firmwares, or the so called FTF files, I was entering the flash mode holding/pressing down the Volume Down key while connecting the device with the USB to my PC. I note that holding down the Volume Up key, instead, connects the tablet in the fast boot mode
After/Before every firmware flashing I was trying not to forget to:
Enable the USB Debugging mode
Trust installation from unknown sources (this probably is redundant) and
Use massive storage instead of MTP in my USB connection options.
Then, I tried to unlock my bootloader (for experimenting purposes) following the official SONY instructions. I successfully did (fastboot was saying OK!), without keeping any DRM keys, since I guess I do not need them, right? However with some FTF stock firmwares my screen was freezing while booting and showing the "flying colors" and then it was eternally rebooting again and freezing again and so on. I tried this and verified it with a couple of FTF stock firmwares. The one was for sure the SGP312 Global Xperia Tablet Z WiFi 32 GB - 10.4.1.B.0.109, I do not remember the others. This 10.4.1.B.0.109 was working fine but not with the bootloader unlocked. I found out that I could break the boot/freeze loop by entering flash mode (Volume Down while connecting the USB) just after it was turned off after the "flying color" freeze.
So I tried with this stock firmware: SGP312 10.4.B.0.577 (UK version 32GB WIFI Unbranded) and after using my tablet for ~30mins I can say that I did not encounter any problems.
But I wanted to view the rooting world, so to do this I found out that installing a Recovery Software would help.
So I installed XZDualRecovery. I followed the instructions and downloaded TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.123-BETA.installer.zip and also the *flashable.zip from the same site.
Before starting to implement the instructions, the same XZDualRecovery post was mentioning I should install a 10.3.1.C.0.136 firmware and so I did, getting the SGP312 10.3.1.C.0.136 VMo EU4 firmware. This 10.3.1.C.0.136 was also working quite well, and after unlocking the bootloader (I do not know if I have to do unlock the bootloader everytime I flash a stock FTF) it was botting properly and my speakers were working fine.
I runned the install.sh for linux (install.bat for windows). I noticed that the third option was "3/ Attempt installation on unrooted device" which I tried and was successful, since then, the "Root Checker" app was saying that my tablet was rooted. That was really cool!
I wanted to enter the recovery mode so I turned on my tablet and when the "SONY" letters appeared (or a bit earlier) I started pressing multiple times the Volume Up key and a nice purple screen (like this) with the recovery appeared. There, I chose Wipe Data/Factory Reset (it was quite fast) and then Install multiple Zip files from the SD card.
The Zips I had in my card were the Cyanogen Mod, the Google Apps and the XZDualRecovery:
I downloaded Cyanogen Mod, pollux_windy for our devices, from here. I chose the latest stable version, cm-10.2.1-pollux_windy.zip 2014-02-01 01:07:05, but I hope another one will see the light soon.
I also installed the latest google apps that for today are these and the latest versions can be found here.
The TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.123-BETA.flashable.zip metnioned above. I am not sure if this is really needed but I think I read somewhere that I should included or else I would not be able to Reboot to Recovery after flashing.
The problem with the pollux_windy zip was that I panicked since the recovery zip installation stopped with the error: assert failed [...] status 7 and I was pretty sure I had an SGP312 device!!! So I deleted the first line in the cyanogen zip file:
Code:
/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
like it appears here or here. This forum post says I should not extract the zip, but I did and it worked.
After all the above steps I booted my tablet and everything seems almost ok so far. I say almost because:
I notice that my device, according to the settings is now the "SGP311" and not the SGP312 (how could I change that?), but in my free space I still see 25+GB (although I am still using only ~3GB).
Also, some times while I am scrolling e.g. in Play Store I see infinitesimal freezes in the movement of the webpage (AnTuTu benchmark returns a rating of ~19800-20118).
Moreover, I have installed ~30 apps, but the installing procedure seems somehow slow, and the last ~10 apps I tried to install have not been installed "due to an error 495". The above was "fixed" after a reboot, but I must say I never encountered this problem with my stock firmware.
To the first question in red: DRM keys are needed for Playstation Mobile, Video and Music Unlimited, I think something regarding Screen Mirroring and, until Android 4.3, no Bravia Engine 2. With 4.4, it works again.
About the 311 and 312 thing, it is because you flashed a firmware that wasn't specifically for your device. You can go into build.prop file, and change every SGP311 you find to SGP312.
Nevertheless, awesome guide

Thanks for the time to share
Hi all,
I have the SGP312 but it's not the "global" version (I noticed one of the stock firmware used was the UK one). I have the US/Canadian/North American version.
Would I brick my device if I flashed with the UK firmware? I haven't for the life of me found any guides/threads for my device.
I know it's the "pollux windy" (wifi 32gb) but I'm...afraid.
Thanks!

Jiayu S3 PIN Locked by Kinguser app

First of all, I may be posting this in the wrong section. But I desperately need your help on this.
I got a Jiayu S3, and couldn't not try to flash a custom rom on it, so I tried with "Pure AOSP V1 TF".
All went well, untill i found this app which was included with the rom, "Kinguser" (should be Superuser, i believe), which game me the option to toggle root.
At first and only time I opened this Kinguser app, option root was active. I did deactivate it, and reactivated immediately after.
As soon as i reactivated root, the privacy pin screen showed up.
I didn't set any PIN on my phone, so at first i thought it could be something like 1111 or 0000. Tried 5 times and it made me wait 30 seconds. Then tried another 3-4 times.
Here began the real mess: "forgot pin" (or psw) didn't show up, but at the time i didn't even know about that recovery option.
I didn't know what to do, so I just thought that a factory reset would certainly solve the problem, how couldn't it? Well, wiped everything, but PIN lock screen didn't go away.
So, wiping everything, I also deleted my gmail account from the phone, and I lost the possibility to lock phone and give it a new password (Android Device Manager). Too bad at the time I didn't know about this recovery option as well...
Now I'm out of ideas. I think I've tried every method I could find with a search of "Smartphone PIN locked". Tried with resets, plugins, deleting files with adb..
How do I unlock my phone?
little update: after a factory reset, for 2-3 seconds, it shows the default initial screen, but it doesn't last more that and i just can't do anything.
Now i managed to bring back the stock rom, but with that i lost the twrp recovery, and i can't find a way to make pc recognize the phone to reflash it.
It seems it's going worse instead of better...
I had just bought this Jiayu S3 and planned to bring it on holidays on wednesday, but i'm starting to think i won't be able to fix it before then
Did you have any resolution to this problem. I am currently sitting in the exact same boat. Did the factory reset, pass code screen still there, I didn't set a pass code. Basically hands tied, can't update firmware, guessing i'll have to get a new phone, but hoping maybe you found a miracle cure! ha! - Thanks for any guidance. - Arden (Seattle, WA)
Just flash another rom (stock/original) and start over.
How have you done that?
Can you help please?
I tried factory reset (volume plus+ power button), hard reset (volume- plus power button), update, and nothing works; I also went to two different specialized stores and they failed to find a way to reinstall the original Android version or a recent one.
Comparing the files with the factory version installed in the phone, the phone report identified three changes:
- a new file: /system/priv-app/7mK0T6e8Z5.apk
- the lost of a file: /system/app/com.android.fallen.apk
- and a modified file: /system/bin/debuggerd

To flash firmware you can use SP Flash Tool on a windows or linux computer (not sure about macosx). You have to decide which firmware you want (which one do you have now?). The 'official' firmwares can be found on needrom. SP Flash Tool can be found there as well. There are 2 popular LP firmwares built by Jiayu resellers in Europe (Xtreme from Spain and Jiayu.de from Germany). Guides on how to flash are often present at the place where you find the firmware.

but it is for Linux... can you send me the link of the windows version?
And I could not found the "Jiayu.de from Germany": can you send the link?
Also, can you recommend some good manual for dummies?
Thanks again for your patient and help!

I would like to add: if you come from KK and go to LP, you must use firmware upgrade to update/adjust internal SD partition layout. Good Luck! if you succeed, and are happy with firmware, consider voting @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/firmware-jiayu-s3-t3212184 (almost 100 votes)
First, thank you for your great help!
With your suggestions, I managed to install Lolipop in my Jiayu S3S (upgraded from Kit Kat) - Xtreme ROM TF (JiayuS3-5.1Extreme1.1SP.zip).
However the problem remain... the phone still is asking for a PIN (that I never had put there, in first place)...
What should I do now?
you could try factory reset and are you sure its the phone asking for pin and not the sim card

"Network unavailable" on manual System update attempt

Just got my Axon 7, shipped from DE to UK, thought I'd try manual software update.
Current version listed as ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B06
It times out with Network Unavailable despite the fact it is connected to WiFi and Chrome works fine as well as everything else needing internet connections.
I am on Three UK, haven't tried updating without a SIM ... is that worth trying? I did see at initial setup I was prompted to accept some sort of 3UK profile though I assumed this is just APN/MMS stuff.
Anyone else having similar problem trying to update?
I see talk of updating to B08 etc, from 2017G --- is 2017G same as 2017GV1... wouldn't want to assume anything this early on in my game
TIA for any tips/advice.
Am really liking this phone though, might be nice to get latest update for security mainly, not sure if many features are added?
Same issue here as it happens, though I'm currently trying to update WITHOUT a sim (didn't appreciate it was nano so new one on order!).
I was thinking it maybe needed one to be present to update, but clearly that's not the case.

Can't speak to the EU version, but I was surprised when my A2017U would not complete initial setup (& update) without the SIM, although wifi was strong. All completed quickly as soon as I popped in the SIM.
Hi,
I have the same issue here.
I've just bought A2017G from Italy (Amazon) and I live in France. Can't have the upade to B08. There is always this message "No network" after a minute of searching. I tried with 4G and Wifi and there is the same issue!
Also can't connect
Same issue here. I am already on B.08 and have wifi/Sim in place.
Mysterious problem
I have tried many solutions but I wasn't able to update :
- used three different sim cards from 3 operators
- removed sim card and worked only on wifi
- used VPN
- tried to update via SD card form the update page and from recovery
... Unsuccessful !
Anyone have idea?
I'm also having the same problem. I live in Sweden and I just got the phone today. Would be nice if I could update sometime soon.
A2017g b06
Greenland here, I also have problems with the connectivity
Maybe ZTE is updating its servers so that the updates can finally deploy at the same time, the same version, for everyone.
Or, maybe... they are silently getting rid of Adups and moving to another kind of upload process, before **** hits the proverbial fan.
Also, Global Axon 7 here, brought via Amazon.es, sent from Germany and now used across Portugal/Spain. Running 0B08.

I can understand that, but even if we put the B08 update file downloaded from ZTE support in SD card, the update can't be processed.
Hello, I had the same problem, I reinitialized the Axon 7, and I copied the file update.zip B09 on the phone, it recognized and installed the file (I was on the b08 before)
Hallo, i have the same problem with update, I have B06, somebody can give me a link to download the latest firmware and how to install it.

hmm I put a b09 in the sd card and it updated no problem
Solution found!
I’ve already found the solution for the manual upadate from SD card and it’s easy to do.
Theses instructions are not mine and I’m not responsible of what you do with your phone. I found them inside the update file that I Downloaded then I unzipped.
You will find a PDF document called “ZTE A2017G Upgrade Guide (through an SD Card).pdf”. You can use it to do the upgrade step by step.
Till now, all was OKEY: backup is very quickly with Zte app. The update take about 5 minutes, than the phone restarts automatically.
If you cannot find the B08 update file, try to download it from here: http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=98CEB24F9FFD433EA99EC424163149A6
Here are the steps (exactly as mentioned in ZTE Upgrade Guide)
ZTE V7 Upgrade Guide (Through an SD Card)
1. Backing Up the Data
1) Download the upgrade package.
Open http://www.ztedevice.com.cn/support and download the upgrade package (update.zip) that matches your phone model. If the downloaded package is not update.zip, unzip the package to obtain update.zip.
Ensure that your micro SD card is at least 3GB.
2) Remove the SIM card before the upgrade. Back up the data and APPs in your phone by using the built-in Backup function. To enable the built-in Backup function of your phone (an SD card must be inserted), select
Backup and Restore from the main menu。
3) Perform data backup.
Note:
You should not remove the SD card during the backup process. To avoid data lost, it is not recommended to cancel the backup process.
4) Verify that the update.zip file in the root directory of the SD card
matches the model of the phone. Do not modify the file name and extension name of the files in the upgrade package.
5) Verify that your phone has enough (at least 30%) power. Charge the phone if required. To avoid data lost or upgrade failure, it is not recommended to upgrade your phone through an SD card when the phone is being charged.
Note:
You should not perform any other operation on the phone during the upgrade process. To avoid upgrade failure, do not forcibly remove the battery.
A normal upgrade should be completed in 2-3 minutes. If the phone does not reboot or show any response in three minutes, you should perform the upgrade process again. If the phone cannot be started, perform a forced upgrade. If the forced upgrade does not work, you should contact an after-sale service agent for support.
2. Upgrade Description
There are two upgrade methods: normal upgrade and forced upgrade.
If the phone cannot be started properly, for example, the phone cannot be started, or the phone does not enter stand-by state, perform a forced upgrade. If the phone can be started properly and the Settings menu can be selected, perform a normal upgrade.
3. Upgrade Steps
A. Normal upgrade (the primary upgrade method)
1) Download the upgrade package that matches the phone model from ZTE official website (http://www.ztedevice.com.cn/support/), extract update.zip from the package, and copy update.zip to the root directory of the SD card (the file name must be update.zip
2) Select System Manager > File Manager> SD Card from the main menu, and verify that the update.zip file in the root directory of the SD card is proper.
3) Tap the main screen is displayed. Tap and select SETTINGS >All setting > Updates>,
4) Click INSTALL, The phone automatically powers off and reboots. the SD
card upgrade screen is displayed,
After the phone is upgraded, it is rebooted again. After the phone starts properly, it is recommended to manually restore the phone to its original factory default settings. The phone is upgraded properly and can be used.
B. Forced upgrade (for the phones that cannot be started or the phones that cannot enter standby state)
1) For a powered-off phone, press and hold both the volume key + and power
key to enter into Recovery mode.
2) Press the volume key - to select apply update from sdcard, and press the power key to confirm it.
3) Press the volume key - to select the update.zip file, and press the power key to confirm it. The phone completes the upgrade process in about three minutes.
4) On the Upgrade Complete screen, select reboot system now and press the power key to confirm it.
4. (Optional) Restoring the Data
If you have backed up data before upgrading your phone, restore the data.
1) Backup and Restore important user information.
2) Perform data restoration.
Note:
Do not remove the SD card during the restoration process. To avoid data lost, it is not recommended to cancel the restoration process.

The file is on ztedevice (link in thread) but i think (as some of other users) that this patch is only for Spain - don't know that for 100% but most ppl that can upadate it with OTA are located in Spain. Also I still get "network unavailable" when I trying to check update (location Poland, phone from UK). But you should can update from B06 to B08 as I can without any doubts via OTA.

Here the problem is solved, this morning the ota update worked en now he is installing B08.
I downloaded B09 en wanted to go install it and than the give me the original B08 update in the screen, let see how it works.
As for 1.01.2017 update check start working for me - no more "network unavailable" just "up to date" at B08 a2017g.

[Guide] Restore Idol 3 back to factory ROM

Hi all! I know that Mobile Upgrade Q is long gone and I have a program that will reset your Idol 3 back to factory settings with the factory ROM. I have used this program in the past, but unfortunately I no longer have the device.
What you will have to do is download the program available here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Sd99aiZIL8JSpXwAiwGitulNFbJxi2Z4
After downloading there will be a folder named "SUGAR QCT_SP v11.1.2" open this folder and use the setup installer to install the program. After installing (assuming you have the necessary usb drivers installed that can also be found within the folder but I assume many of us have it already installed) open the program "SUGAR QCT_SP_Gotu2" which if memory serves me correctly, will be placed on the desktop.
Note that you will have to have your device connected to the computer prior to launching the application.
A window will pop up asking you for a username and password. The username and password can be found in the downloaded folder in a file named "sugarpw". The user name is "SU_IN.Panasonic" without quotations and the password is "KoD8naL2".
If any window pops up regarding updates to the program, do not update it as it can cause complications when trying to restore. After this point I cannot remember much of the program because as you need your device to be connected in order to access it, I cannot see it personally. From what I remember there is a drop-down box in which you will need to select your model of Alcatel device. Then there will be two buttons from what I remember. "Get root status" (or something along the lines of this maybe "check root" I am not sure) you need to press the Upgrade or Restore button. I am not sure past this point but I assume someone can comment on this procedure exactly but this should be enough to get you through the process.

hello, first time i write here after long time reading about idol3 recovery, i was almost out of ideas, my 6039k dual sim (italy) got bricked hard as couldn't do any backup, no usb debug no adb no custom recovery, plus alcatel do not share stock rom so this software and chewyboy0 saved my phone. thank you very much. Stefano
thank u a lot you saved my phone i was not able to restore my 6045k dual sim and i was having twrp recovery but there is no roms for dual sim 6045k exept cyanogenmod 12 which was making a lot of problems glitches very annoying . by the way it after your instruction no much left behind the most important thing is after connecting your phone usb put the phone in download mode manually by pressing volume up and down with usb connected after turning your phone off till download screen popup then press volume up continuously till screen turn off , the program can not go to download mode automatically so do it manually then press upgrade in program then screen will popup asking u are u sure u want to install this rom with firmware num etc... agree and wait till it done .thank a lot chewyboy0 god give u the right path and keep u happy in life and last thanks again
Just wanted to share my experience. I actually had to upgrade the software in order to get my 6045O from cricket to restore it back to the original cricket MM. In fact, before I upgraded the software it just said 6045 and afterwards it showed multiple versions of the 6045 including the 6045O. Anyways, I just booted into download mode and pressed upgrade and waited 30 minutes. After setting my phone up I went ahead and used Alcatel Flasher to install TWRP and root my phone again.
I was beginning to give up hope. Before updating the software I kept getting model mismatch error. Had already used Eluga, which dumped by Lte for HSPA+ and I tried flashing every radio possible, which only made it worse to where the sim wasn't detected.
If you can help, on the Alcatel website it was necessary for the idol 3 Mobile_Upgrade_Q_5.1.8_Setup.exe and in fact contact me with Alcatel support and the only thing they told me was that I had to send it, but it had a cost, and My last option was to do the trial and error, so I saved it with the Mobile_Upgrade_Q_5.1.7_Setup.exe and it worked.
Note:
My idol 3 is 6045I
Android 5.0.2
I also use Google translator, I do not know English
It worked for me!
Before opening the program "SUGAR QCT_SP_Gotu2" I had to put my mobile in "Download Mode"...
Step by step:
1: Download the program available in the link posted in the threat;
2: Extract the downloaded zip file and open the "SUGAR QCT_SP v11.1.2" folder, then setup installer to install the program;
1: Turn off your device completely and connect it to your computer with a USB cable;
2: Put your mobile in "Download Mode". For Alcatel Idol 3 6039J, push and hold the Power and Both the Volume Buttons, a Red Screen should appear in your mobile, then release all buttons and quickly hold the Volume Up Button until the screen turns Black;
3: Open the program "SUGAR QCT_SP_Gotu2" which will be placed on the desktop (when asked, allow windows administrator privileges);
4: Enter with username (SU_IN.Panasonic) and pw (KoD8naL2), click on "OK" button;
5: Click "No" to quit updating;
6: Select your device model in "Product Models" list (6039 for Idol3 4,7");
7: Click in "Upgrade" button and wait until the end (it takes a while for downloading the firmware and writing it into your device);
8: Your device should restart automatically running the stock ROM.
9: Have fun

Hi
I could restore with Mobile Upgrade Q 5.1.8
Available on alcatel-mobile.com
Idol 3 was restored to Marshmallow, so I don't know if root is possible after restoring.

Just 3 weeks ago, I was able to restore (in Canada) my Idol 3 to stock MM using Mobile Upgrade from download mode (I think it was version 5.1.7 as 5.1.8 would not do anything).
Here is a download link:
5.1.7:

5.1.8:

Thanks a lot mate!

Hi all, I wrote a 2022 update on how to put the non-responsive phone into a fastboot state. You can find it here:
[TOOL] Sahara & Firehose Test (Alcatel Flasher oncoming ...)
Let me introduce some new tool for you. This is my first practice in learning and understanding "How to work with Sahara & Firehose?" and as an owner of Alcatel Idol 3 4.7" firsts test of this app were made on my Idol 3 6039Y. What is this...
