Hoping to see an Atrix 4G forum added soon. I'm wondering if anyone is going to buy this phone. Looks amazing!
Atrix section coming soon. There's not even a release date yet.
I work for Bell in canada, Its releasing in January with ATT, and Bell should be simul-launching. im definitely looking at this as my next phone, i was gonna get a galaxy s, but no way after this thing is available.
Oh yeah, Definitely gonna jump on this in march when I am available for an upgrade. I can't wait.
+1 to start section, can't wait for this new gun slinger
Will there also be a Atrix 3G section? The Europe/Worldwide version is just HSPA+ 3G. Already for pre-order from cellhut http://www.cellhut.com/Motorola-ATR...band-GSM-Cell-Phone-Specifications-30366.html

Can you clarify for me, please? Asking nicely, not to be oppositional.
Even without a release date, it would nice to "favourite" that section in Tapatalk, just for easy and quick access to rumors/news/etc related to release date, pricing, accessories, etc. Even if it were only a general section, and not the ROM Development, Apps, etc. Just a general area to chit chat and not clutter up the other forums (how many other foums have an Atrix thread??).
Or is the preferred policy of XDA to hold off on creating a new forum until there is a release date?
I can see both sides, really. Just curious, mostly.
I was wondering why there wasn't an Atrix section yet.
Latest rumour on most of the sites seems to indicate March first for AT&T. Will be soon at any rate. Considering its easily the top hardware to attend CES it isnt surprising to see it showing up soon here. Lets hope the smart folks can get it rooted.
+1 for a new section
I was really excited to see the 2100 mhz band supported on the Atrix. I'm assuming that means it'll get 3G with T-Mobile. I hope that's the case..if so, this Nexus S is going back. Can't wait to follow along!
+1, just giving my opinion..
yeah i hope atrix forum is coming soon but i don't understand why did you add xoom forum, but not atrix forum.

I didn't think it mattered because T-Mobile uses AWS for 3g and that's not compatible with AT&T's stuff. I'm no expert on it though and we don't even have T-Mobile in my area
Agree with idavid, there's a Xoom section (and no release date), there should be an Atrix and a Droid Bionic section IMO.
Coming early next week.
+1 from me!

Just from experience, markets across seas always get it first. Does that mean that it will be after April 26th before the Sprint Hero gets the 2.1 update?
i not surprised if this is true with sprint getting the nexus and the powerhouse is being left in the wind
If this is overseas, this could be 2 or 3 months till the sprint htc hero updates.

Why so pessimistic?? I'm not sure if you guys are right or wrong, but the article DOES say we'd be getting it soon after, why so scared?
Besides...once Taiwan leaks the Hero ROM, won't that be the same as when they release it for our phones? Am I wrong or isn't the overseas Hero the same but with GSM? Shouldn't we be able to perfect the 2.1 ROMs with that? I mean that would be pretty damn close with having the Eris leak as well, I don't know but I just don't see why to be scared and why to not get excited to see the actual overseas leak.

Because TODAY was our original speculation date. So after seeing this, it appears we have a month or more to wait. The biggest thing is that we havent been given a confirmed date and its getting tense.
Anyway, I just posted this for others to see something new.

Keyword-Speculation..
Stop speculating and you won't be upset...
It's not like 2.1 is going to bring an all new world, once it comes out we're just going to be inundated with well.. what now threads an hour after everyone updates..
Patience is a virtue...
didn't some self proclaimed "sprint employee" leak that date? (i've been looking, maybe they edited their original post)
But I'm going to take everything I read in the future from such sources with an extra grain of salt on top of the first. In other words... POIDH
A couple sites are saying April 9th (now), because Sprint is apparently issuing some network updates then,

Start running the ROMs and I think you'll chill a lot more. Plus if ANY Hero gets updated, I bet the ROMs will be perfected a little more which is still something to look forward to.
I honestly have been on DC 1.0, and yeah not everything works, but then what will work with 2.1? Will we have LWP? The builds we have may even have more than the 2.1 Sprint will give us. I mean keeping LWP off our phones but on the Nexus still keeps a reason to make us upgrade. Which means we need to hack it
Listen guys, I didnt put any exclamation marks in any of my posts. I was just simply bringing up what I found for some discussion on peoples thoughts. I am currently running Fresh Toast 2.0c and completely happy with it. This isnt to start a battle about how pissed I am, just hadnt seen anyone post this little tid bit.
Sprint 1st said first half of the year, then updated to beginning of 2nd quarter, so between April 1st to May 14th. Want some advice? Stop putting so much stock on the rumors and wait for an official date. Sprint is notorious for terrible communication and missing dates so don't expect 2.1 sooner rather than later.
Yes this pisses me off too but it doesn't do any good getting worked up over rumors proving to be false. Personally, the spreading of rumors are more upsetting than the holdout for Sprint.
Jeez you guys cant read. I never said I was pissed off, I just wanted to discuss the date since there was a confirmed one in Taiwan. Im emailing a mod now to close this. FACK!!

As it so turns out, Samsung i9000 Galaxy S smart phone owners need to only wait “shortly” until the Froyo update gets released for the handset. While a specific date has yet to be delivered, earliest estimates place the update for a launch due by next week –or hopefully, earlier.

Unlocked users also
Hello Guys,
I just ordered this phone unlocked. Since this is my first Samsung phone (I had an iPhone 3G) I am wondering if AT&T will push the update to me and since my phone was shipped from Hong Kong I would also like to know whether there is a download link from Samsung's site for patches and firmwares (official).
Side question; For those using an unlocked Galaxy S in the US, is there any 3G (data) issue you are noticing? how is performance and availability of 3G with 1900Mhz spectrum?
If your carrier doesnt push the update to you, you should be able to get it through Samsung Kies once its been released.
Well we can only hope for this to be real. Sure would be nice

If Froyo for the SGS will pop up during the next 10 days as this article says it might, i'll eat my pants and post pics.
It's pretty impossible, considering samsung past with updates.
That's there flagship handset, nothing stop them to change the history.
Ummm.... Yes there is something that will stop them... It's called "Paperwork".
We'll see, would be nice tho, especially when it comes with some new drivers/updates to iron out the little bugs
Im thinking in this, we shouldn't forget about Samsungs tablet device, which seems like a big Samsung Galaxy S. The rumour there is that is going to come with FroYo 2.2 right from the off.
Makes sense to converge the software, so there is a very real possibility Samsung have been working on a FroYo release for a while.

As well as the hoofing great big ones
While they are at it, why not
While I doubt we will see Froyo in the next week or two it looks like they may have had some models at the Samsung launch even running Froyo. I noticed in Phonearena's preview of the Samsung Vibrant they tilted the phone to the right and it went into landscape. Unless something has changed I thought this was only possible with Froyo so maybe they are closer to releasing it then we think. I can't post a link to the video because I am new here but you can catch the rotation to the right at the 19 second mark.

I didn't realize this was possible on Android 2.1 or is it just something Samsung added to the Galaxy S? If so I have to agree thats a pretty cool addon!
As much as I really wish it was true, looking at the track records, it is not very promising.

You people are wanting Froyo before most of us in the US can even buy the phone. I'm envious.
There was a demo video where the reporter was told that the demo he was holding was 2.2 but that it was not going to ship with it. This was the ATT Captivate version and I saw the article on one of the big tech blogs, but I can't remember which one. Anyone??? I remember reading the info and thinking why on earth do they have 2.2 on a demo device only.
It’s been confirmed that Samsung’s pushing out the upgrade to Android 2.2 to their Galaxy S and Galaxy A in their home turf of South Korea right now. (It wasn’t said if this included the carrier-specific offerings, so we’ll assume that those are excluded, for now.) Those on Vodafone may also be seeing the upgrade to Android 2.2 very soon as they’ve started pushing their specific upgrade out to their customers. This follows the widescale European rollout for unbranded/carrier-agnostic Galaxy S devices not too long ago. Be on the lookout for these upgrades and let out a big sigh of relief after you’ve received them. Then let’s hope Samsung gets things rolling a bit quicker for the impending Gingerbread release. I am not claiming it's true, only sharing the information. At least this is better than one of those "my cousin talked to a guy at a bus stop who works for T-Mobile, and they said Froyo is being released for the Vibrant in 20 minutes!" posts.

I won't flame. the article states that it "should" be compatible with all SGS phones. I don't know, it's been such a ordeal with Samsung/Tmo dragging their feet. Yes, this is better than "this guy i know who knows a guy said we were getting it on xxx" but it still doesn't give us a set date. This just says that SGS phones will get it, very vague with Vibrant/Fascinate/Epic/Captivate phones. We'll see I g uess.
I was going to head over to PinkBerry around 7, but I guess I can wait until 8.

Could just be one of those random updates they push out to break root.
Not trying to threadjack but peeking into the regular MyTouch 3G forums the announcement has been made for the update on the 3.5mm and Fender. They say it should be done by the 1st of Feb so we should be just after that one would assume.

They can't get wifi to work and the partition that the update is installed on is too small, no release date given because of these two problems.
http://www.tmonews.com/2011/01/mytouch-slide-update-delayed-by-two-issues/
Wow ... that link had a lot of negative comments about the Slide. Lot's of hate and animosity in the Android community! I don't get it ... my Slide is super smooth and now that I'm finally getting consistent 4mbps data speeds from TMO's network I am 99% satisfied with it. I can wait until upgrade time for a dual core phone.
It amazes me when I consider the CM team's capacity for production and consistent and reliable development and the lack of such behavior from an international device manufacturer and a major US mobile service provider ... At any rate, it'll be interesting to see what the developers can do with the update because I will not be using a Sense based ROM in the foreseeable future.
Thanks for the post and link.
Seems like it's about ready. Assuming the Rom with the new Radio is complete and has the 2 issues fixed we should see it after the 3.5/Fenders are done. Maybe 1 Feb or so,
This thread is dedicated to the North American variant of the Xperia Z3 and the upcoming Sony press conference in New York on October 9th.
Any rumors, news or information should go in here.
I'm really hoping Sony announce a 32GB version of the Z3 for NA.
Verizon version is also rumored to have wireless charging. Not sure how that's possible unless they are planning on offering the wireless charging case with the purchase of the Z3 which makes sense.
