[Q] where to buy - preferably unlocked - Venue Pro General

Hi all
I really look forward to buying a DVP, I have been loving the form factor since my HTC Blueangel ;-)
Now there's one simple question:
where can I buy it, unlocked and without contract (not ebay)?
Thanks a lot for your ideas!

You should try this, they have a few unlocked phones and the DVP is said to be coming in february

"Discounts available for orders of 5 units or more"
I want to switch from my HD2 to DVP , maybe we can gather more people and get discount ?
cheers

Price of Unlocked SVP M5000

After actually using my M5000 for a couple of weeks, I've decided to go back to my trusty old Nokia 9500.
The M5000 was unlocked by Orange for a fee of £20 -- any ideas on how much I should be asking for this. eBay isn't a real guide cause you get some real daft bids. One I was tracking ended up at £500! I assume it was one of those "Nigerian scams" and the guy probably had to relist.
I'd just like a realistic guide price so that I can enter it on eBay.
Well, the fact that it is unlocked wouldn't matter much now since Buzz has released the unlocking tool for free. I'm looking at around £320 if it's brand new.
If anyone is interested, the M5000 is listed on eBay, the item number is 320008328670 (just do a search).

Universal for sale (US/NYC)

Hi folks - I guess the Universal doesn't need to be introduced in this forum. This is an unlocked O2 branded model - like new. Hate to give it up but it's just not the right thing for me and would be a waste to cling on to. Make a reasonable offer and we are in business. Please see here for more info:

Importing to US advice

Using search and such I've found lots of advice on different places to buy from, but I'm looking for some more general advice as it pertains to those of us that have to import to the United States.
1. As a US resident are there any hassles I should expect in ordering from Europe?
2. What is that VAT thing, and does it affect me? I've noticed that prices often state two amounts, one with and one without VAT.
3. I've seen people discuss getting unlocked versions, pay-as-you-go versions, contract versions and cancelling, etc. What options are available to those of us in the US? Do we have to buy an unlocked, contractless phone? Or is one of those other options involving buying a SIM, or cancelling a contract available?
4. Related to #3, I've seen mention of paying extra money to unlock the phone at some website. Will we have to do that even if we buy an "Unlocked" phone?
5. As far as warranties go, are we better off buying from a US based website or does that not matter?
6. Will our current GSM sim cards fit/work? (Yes, yes, I'm pretty much a newbie to GSM phones)
7. What's the meaning of life, the universe, and everything anyhow?
Thanks so much in advance for helping out someone new to the idea of importing a really cool phone! I've been debating between the iPhone and the Touch HD to replace my HTC BlueAngel, and I think the Touch HD is finally winning out!

Just Google HTC Touch HD. You will find several US based companies selling the phone. Pick a reliable company. Anyone with a price of $300-$400 is probably a scam and want payment by western Union.
Most companies will offer a warranty program. The HTC warranty for the HD is not honored in US as far as I know, since it isn't released here. Any SIM card will work in an unlocked phone. No need for a contract is your already have one and can use
the SIM card.

I am curious about the VAT as well. No idea what that means.
VAT is a value added tax in Europe... If your located in the USA and order from Europe, then there is no VAT charge.

If anyone is still interesed in buying a x7500
Hello there,
If anyone is still looking for a x7500 to play with I have one not doing much since I bought my HD2 so am looking to sell it on. It's a T-Mobile Amro branded unit that I bought from a dutch chap a while ago and was happily running with my O2 sim.
Currently has SPL3.5 and Lennies Hulk rom installed and is in full working order. I have a couple of cases, the original manual and a charger with a Euro mains connector and the bodywork is in good condition with just a few sctaches here and there.
If anyone is interested I am happy to post pics up of the unit. I will happily ship anywhere just let me know so I can work out a price for you.

HD2: How to spot a fake? [Closed]

Hi guys,
How would I know if my intended HD2 buy is not a fake?
Where do I need to look for and what?
Serial numbers?
etc.
-Im from Holland (the netherlands)
-Asking price is 350
-Its a private seller, no retailer and the guy is unknown (besides first name and phonenumber)
-It comes in the original box with all the accessories and warranties according to seller
-Guy sounds legit, when communicating
-I want his HD2, Im a HTC user since 2002 (1e was a Artemis: P3300, 2nd and current: Touch Pro with custom ROM)
-I have great knowledge about an HD2 from pictures/videos/youtube, specs, etc. but never held one in person
Therefore I ask owners or similair intended buyers who know specific things on their HTC to look for what makes it a legit HTC. Is it serials, is it logo's? Things that are really hard to copy to make a fake one.
Kind Regards.
Paul
From where you get it ^^?

Is there a specific model you want?
Where are you buying it from?
Can you touch it before you buy it?
How much are you planning to spend?
Have you seen HD2 videos on YouTube?
Do you know what it looks like?
Do you know the seller?
There are lots of questions you should think about before posting and asking us a very vague question.
Its hardly a vague question is it? Hopefully someone a bit more helpful will be able to offer more advice...
If you go to the HTC web site and look for a list of resellers in your country (you haven't said what country you are in) or go to the web site or store of an international mobile phone company I believe that you would only get a genuine phone. If you buy sight unseen from an auction site or a little known consumer electronics site in a country well known for being able to make fake consumer electronics then you are more likely to be sold a fake. How many people here have seen a fake HD2? I've personally never heard of anyone. Serial numbers can be duplicated, in fact they are sometimes shared in public fora for ROM download purposes so are not all quite as unique as they could be.

Only buy from a trusted reseller- Amazon or one listed by HTC. Here, from a senior member-I'd be hesitant of a noob (no offense to noobs).
get a surname, address and landline phone number, then look them up in directory enquiries. Call them at the landline number you get from directory enquiries.
Not perfect, but can be useful in spotting a dodgy seller.
It's bought! I'm a proud owner of a 3 month old legit Leo (HD2).
The guy was more like a tester like everyone here on XDA than some dodgy tracksuit fellow with a loose phone. (the box with all the paperwork was there, plus he had an extra battery and an 8GB MicroSD card, but he lost the earplug...)
So 350 E is I think not a rip off!
(normal = 492E for a new retailers one and 50E for a 2nd battery + 8GB card)
(3 months old, no wear & tear!, is 542 - 350 = 192 E savings)
I reckon good deal!
