How to clear Text entry history? in the phone? I hate that I have a bunch of mispelled words in skype.... my girlfriends daughter is to blame for this? example "you" she has spelled it "youuuuuu" so sometimes while swyping I get that there are more but this one bugs me the most!
Its easy if the word is youuuuu then type it spelled exactly the same. Then hit the space bar just once. Now double tap the word until it highlights then hit the swype key. That's the key with the i and the blue swype logo. A menu pops up and asks you to delete the word.

Thanks so much man
You rock =d would be nice if Swype had a way of accessing the dictionary! I would like to add possibles for passwords and email configurations!
To add any words, just type a word then a space, then swype the same word and it will pop up. ex. My email address is middle##[email protected] (its censored for spam reasons). I swype middle##ller then hold the "w"key for 2 seconds making the "@" then swype gmail then swype the .com. .com .net, .org are all stored in swype, but you can't do passwords swype won't allow it.

To delete anything that you may have accidentally added you can also go to (from home screen)
Menu > settings > applications > manage applications
up at the top, hit "all"
scroll down to swype then hit "clear data", then yes.
NOW you're starting from scratch with Swype's built in dictionary.
If you want to add words, see the above posts. I find it necessary (after tapping in a few words of my own and misspelling those) that they show up as suggestions sometimes LOL.. It can get annoying
Hope this helps

I'm still having problems with my swype dictionary not actually deleting words even after I delete them. My MAIN one is my swype will type ti instead of to and it drives me insane!
I have tried running both the new and old swype with the same result. Any ideas?

are you deleting the word by highlighting the offending then pressing the "swype" button, or by deleting it from the user dictionary?
Whenever I delete by highlighting, then pressing the "swype" button, they stay gone.
Fyi the easiest way to highlight the word is to type it then swype from the "swype" button to the "sym" button then press "select text" then use the arrows.
If that doesn't work then I don't know what to say
Yeah I am deleting it by highlighting it and pressing the swype key.

Are you doing it from the messaging app? It didn't work for me doing it that way, I had to remove a word after highlighting it in the address bar or an email or something.

This may be a stupid question, but are you ALWAYS swyping(word?) or do you sometimes type without dragging your finger? I'm constantly deleting the same words because my thumbs like to typo when I type vs swype. I have noticed that if it's a typo, the swype dictionary loves to store it then throw it out there when you are actually using swype. It's apparently very new word hungry.

thats the only way i know how to add words to the dictionary for swype is to manually type the words in however, the words that im deleting are not being typed after deletion and they still are showing up. i dont understand what would be causing this.

That's really weird. I guess maybe you may want to flash your phone back to stock and redo your rom. maybe something is corrupt. Other than that I'm at a loss. Sorru I couldn't be more of a help.
anyone else using swype?
try double tapping a word to edit; you can't click the words in the list due to the new feature in 2.3.3 where you double tap a word and it goes to cut/copy menu.
frustrating if you use swype, nice if you use the normal keyboard and you get a word totally wrong.
comments?
Just tried that out it is annoying but I didn't use that way to edit anyway, I put the cursor in the word I want to edit and press the swype button. Idk if this is what anyone else does but works for me.

As spoken about by the ui lead designer in his engadget interview, they want to move away from waiting (pressing and holding).
While this is indeed annoying for swype users, the change is for the good of the entire text entry experience in android.
As an alternative, tap the word you want to select, then tap the swype key to select the word to edit. It only makes things a little slower.
Hello,
Is there a way to enable smileys on the default CM7 keyboard (instead of the enter key). For example in the Gtalk app there is a smiley option, but I would like to have it by default everywhere (facebook, messages etc.) - any way to do this?
Cheers...
Wasn't it always like that? Have you enabled another keyboard? I had searched high and low for a keyboard which removed the smiley key and brought back the Enter Key for the Messaging App, and only about 2-3 weeks back I found it.
Well, since I've flashed CM7 I haven't installed any other keyboard. I also haven't fiddled with any keyboard settings. So I'm quite puzzled that I have the smiley button only in Gtalk and messages (sorry I was wrong in my first post, there IS a smiley button in messages). However, I would like to have it also in Gmail and pretty much any other app - for example Facebook or its alternative Friendcaster.
Any idea how to enable it?
Not without any 3rd party app (Also, I have no idea which 3rd party keyboard does this). The default Gingerbread keyboard is context sensitive, i.e. - for a fixed set of apps, it will show the smiley key, and, for another fixed set of apps, it will show the enter key.
Editing should be possible if you don't wish to go for the Enter key, but, are all your GMail E-Mails only 1 line messages? (Because, till date, all I have seen, you can either get the Smiley key OR the enter key, not both) I find it difficult to live without it in the messaging app itself, leave along Gmail and browser.
Anyway, to state again, editing the keyboard should be possible, but it needs technical know-how, and I can't help you on that.
Well you have a point there, that writing a mail without enter would be quite a problem ;-) Anyway, I guess I'll have to stick with writing smileys the long way (using "." long press) ;-)
Thanks for clarifying the issue.
Cheers...

One way to go around that is by making the smiley (or smiley menu) appear afther a long press on the enter button. There is a keyboard on the market ("keyboard from android 2.3") which does that, in the gui of (as the name says) the android 2.3 keyboard.

Thanks for that. It's indeed the perfect solution, but I thought it was unaccomplished till date
One feature I miss from my note 4 is that you could long press the number keys and get phrases like email addresses and passwords you setup.
Is there anyway to use the samsung note 4 keyboard with the s8?
Go to General Management > Language and Input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Predictive Text > Text Shortcuts
I've tried that, it doesn't always paste the text when it's a hidden password and other situations. Do you know of a keyboard that has hotkeys? I've tried searching Google play with no luck
Anyone found anything? I am pretty sure this feature is now extinct. I believe it died with S5/Note4. No free keyboard has this function anymore, and no paid apps promote it, so I'm not willing to pay to be disappointed. Gboard and Swiftkey and the like all do the personal dictionary and shortcuts, but when the app your using disables "suggestions" on password fields, we are all out of luck. I want my "Perma-Hot-Keys" back. I guess the technology gods want us to remember and manually type passwords. Makes me angry too, because I am password lazy.
Man I am spewing as well. It was so handy. But it not only passwords I cannot do it for this message as an example.
Just spent half the night tryimgb to figure something out for this. Found some pretty fool keyboards but nothing with that feature. This SERIOUSLY sucks!!!
Exactly as the title states. It saves junk text. Every little typo I make, this keyboard saves it. Typos such as "youbwill" ..It's all in there, and I can't seem to figure out how to GET RID of just those stupid words.
If there is a way to delete ONLY those words, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

If you press and hold on the wrong prediction does it give you an option to delete it?
Holding on a word only makes it highlight, until your finger is removed. If you hold your finger on the center word, it opens up to a list of alternative word choices. There is no press and hold action on those.
I find it odd that the center word is always the current typed word. In normal word prediction, the center word is almost always the correct word for misspellings and next word prediction.
Oh, I checked the personal dictionary. It was empty.
Did u ever find a solution? Typing on this keybiard is driving me crazy. It mever corrects ckearly words... Haha. You get the idea. Fir isca common one... And many many more. If you click on the wrong word it does not give an option to delete! Aaargh
go to settings, system, language & input, on-screen keyboard, lg keyboard, word suggestions., then hit clear suggestion history and update word word suggestions
