I got tired of waiting and found this:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/epi...ooted-cwm-v2-5-1-0-rfs-odexed.html#post761525
I followed the instructions and it's now complete. Verified no loss of data and it's rooted, all in 1 shot.
U have to be registered to download it

hmmm, apparently doing direct links is a no no. So if you want the .tar file(s) then I guess you have to sign up to get them (even though they are on megaupload). It is definitely worth the couple minutes it takes to sign up

I used the no wipe tar.md5 file and it worked like a charm. I was on rooted EB13 and removed some sprint bloatware and it still worked.
I'm a noob. Do I unpack the rar file and convert it to a zip? I wanna do all this from my phone using androzip, like I did for eb13 as I don't have a working laptop.

Read the directions on the original post. Register at the android central site (free) and follow the step by step directions. If I can do it, anyone can

If you are running rooted EB13 with CWM 3.0.0.6, you can install a EC05 ROM and get the update, but I am not sure if you can get the EC05 modem without using ODIN.
If you are stock EB13, you will have to wait for the official EB13 to EC05 update to do it w/o a PC, or take it to your local Sprint store.
Anyone have a link to the new full wipe tar they put up?

Please give www.androidcentral.com the same respect we give XDA..
Why don't you take the time to register at www.androidcentral.com and get the file the way it was meant to be, not from someone getting the direct download link and posting it here.
BTW, I am Paul627g, Adviser at Android Central.com and that is my thread which you are grabbing the link from. We have respected XDA and their requests in the past to not do direct download links and instead provide a link to XDA's thread pages. Do the same and give us the same respect we have given XDA whenever we post a thread concerning something here at XDA. We don't do direct download links, we give XDA and its devs their respect deserved and provide a link to the thread.
You have taken the 5 minutes to register for a membership here, take the 5 minutes and return the same favor to AndroidCentral.com. Remember we are all apart of the same Epic community regardless of what forum(s) we make our homes out of.

Signed up over there to grab the downloads. Might start frequenting your site more often. Just seems more user friendly. Thorough instructions helped me get to EC05 without any problems.
Both sites have great info; but from what I've seen, the instructions and atmosphere in general is more newb-friendly over at Android Central than here at XDA. If you have newb-ish questions, you'll fare better asking them over there.
If you already know your way around Android, then over here will be fine.
Makes sense considering this site is intended for developers after all...

Dear All,
I updated my gt540 to 2.3 but forgot to back up my original ROM.
So now I cannot unlock my phone, and the 3 company didn't assist
me to do so neither.
I have tried the ROM other than 1.6 in this website, but none of them work for me.
Is there anyone who knows how to unlock my gt540?
Is recovering back to original 1.6 the only to do that?
What if I cannot find the original 1.6 for Australia 3 company users?
crying..........
Need all your help please....
aya? Not even one can help me????
............
You only need to go back down to 2.1 (And any ROM will do, doesn't need to be the 3 ROM), that will enable you to enter the unlocking code.
I made the same mistake, went all the way up to 2.3.5 and then realized I hadn't keyed in the unlock code yet and had to re-flash with 2.1 to enter the code. (It's broken from 2.2+ as the ROMS are not issued by LG, and therefore missing the special codes to access these sections.)
ADDED: GAHHHH!!!! What CRAP!! I can't post in dev forums (which is where I should be) Due to my low post rate (Bless Modaco) and on top of that I can't even post links in here to actually provide answers!! HOW CRAP!! Tool Kit
Android 2.1 Stock ROM - 3 Australia
Firstly download and extract the Tool Kit... Reboot your phone into fastboot mode and connect to the PC via USB.
Run the SwiftBootloaderBuilder.exe file from the zip (you will need admin privs for this)...
Set System size to 250, click "Save new bootloader" (then ok in the popup) and click "Flash new bootloader" (giving permission to the popups, and finally OK to the last).
Then click on "Reboot device" (again give permission to popups), and hold the "Home" key on your phone as it reboot to enter recovery mode.
Download the Android ROM from the link above and put it on your phone's SD card (you can download it directly there, by mounting the USB storage via "Mounts and Storage" in the recovery menu and then starting the download and using the USB as the saving location).
Use the recovery menu to select the "3stock.zip" file as the upgrade file and proceed. (This file is set to pre-wipe all existing data to prevent any clash).
Added: I've provided the 3 Stock ROM for you, as you've already mentioned that they are and will be your carrier. The first step in this method is VITAL as I believe the issue with the Telsra ROM is that the /system partition is too small to install fully, the steps above have been tested and I have personally verified they work. (Also note that while this is the Stock ROM in that it has all the settings and apps, I have modified the boot.img and included the Superuser.apk giving permanent root)
Dear Olite,
Thank you very much for your help.
I have unlocked my phone successfully by using a ROM in other forum.
Once again, I appreciate your patience and time
Cheers

Hmm, I kinda suspected as much when you never responded to my question on Skype...
Would have been nice if you had of at least mentioned that you had resolved this... a message via skype for example, could have saved myself an hour preparing this ROM.
Dear Olite ,
Sorry for wasting your precious time . I did login to skype to see whether you were there or not.
I noticed that you don't use Skype very often so I posted the message in this forum.
Let me to take this opportunity to appreciate your help and time.
Root your phone without unlocking the bootloader. How? A new application called UnlockRoot does it all for you! Literally, all you need to do is download the UnlockRoot.exe, run it and enjoy your new rooted device. I can confirm that it is 100% working and took about 2 minutes from start to finish.
All you have to do is connect to your computer, enable USB debugging which is accessible through Settings>applications>devlopment>USB debugging
open UnlockRoot.exe and click root, after that it should take the comp. 1 min tounlock then 1 min to reboot then voila you have it rooted! You will then see the superuser app inside your app drawer. I recommend you to download busybox and titanium backup to have full control on your device. I've just rooted my xperia play and my wife's arc s using method. Both of them are running v2.3.4 so this should work on lower versions.
If there will be an instance wherein your device didn't reboot automatically, manually restart your device.

The site looks a little questionable like maybe the software could be virus filled. I dont know though. Only way to find out would be to try it, and for that I have no reason to. First of all that is not my site and i'm not a spammer. I only posted this method in two different forums, the other one is in the android general hacking tips. The only reason why i mentioned the site is because i'm having problems uploading the unlockroot.exe launcher in this thread. As you can see,i'm only a new member and i don't usually start threads. I'm just trying to help because i had a lot of frustrations using other rooting methods. I have a descent job and i'm not gonna benefit in spamming so don't accuse me. I just felt very excited to share this method as this worked like a charm for my xperia play. I'm not forcing you to try this so ban me if you feel like doing so.

I noticed that too but trust me,it worked for my xperia play and my wife's arc s. Both of them are running the latest android v2.3.4 that's why i'm very surprised that it worked. Other rooting methods didn't work for that version so i resorted to doomlord's method but i'm having problems installing the adb drivers as i'm using windows7. I'm so happy using this method because it's very safe,no need to unlock your bootloader. Best regards!

No, offense, but if you post directly to their home site, it makes it seem a lot more legit than just posting a link to your download account.

Sorry bro but i already did that when i started this thread. I just edited my post because that d31boy guy is accussing me of being a spammer and just promoting that site.
When I see a brand new poster posting a link to relatively unknown website for use of an unknown exe file, it's hard not to be suspicious. I mean, you obviously know the benefits of root and you know your way around this site. The site has absolutely no mention of how the root is applied (which isn't your fault provided you don't have an affiliation to the site ). It's a pretty big leap of faith.
However, I may have jumped in a bit too quick on this one. It would have been better just to report the post and allow a mod to make a more informed decision. For that, I apologise.
All this method is, is the zergRush method with a different name...
Here's what I did (quick run thought of what i did, attached screenshot for reference)
Downloaded it from the OP's post (http://unlockroot.com was running at 2000BYTES/SEC)
Installed it on my XP partition
rebooted, went to my linux partition
Mounted XP Partition
went to \Program Files\Unlockroot\tools\
Copied rootutility to /home/myusername/
adb shell rm -r /data/local/tmp
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
adb push rootutility /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rootutility
adb shell /data/local/rootutility
and got the attachment

During setup, SuperSU was one of the choices, then there was another with a similar name (I forget what the other option was at the moment.)
That is, assuming I understand your question correctly.
2 exploits that were available did not work. There was even some hesitancy to install it in the first place because an alert said Google recommends you don't install this because it contains suspicious code (not in those words, but you know what I mean.) I went ahead with installation because I didn't hear any negative talk about it after a little searching through the internet.
Questions go in the q&a forum, report your own post and ask a moderator to move it.
Instead of taking the chance of bricking your phone, why not follow the routing guide in the sticky thread?

First time poster. My thanks to all who support xda. You have provided me with excellent guidance and support via your posts/answers to others.
My problem is that I somehow managed to kill my phone's ability to add a Samsung account. under accounts and trying to add a new account, the Samsung option (icon) is no longer an option being presented. Comments / thoughts on getting it back?
Note: all this because I want to use SmartThings on this phone, grrrrrrr
I even went so far as to put lollipop factory back on and then flashed over it with lineageos 14.1 no success
(by the way, I went to the lineageos download page and see that all 14.x nightly updates are gone.??? no longer supported?)
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I don't use this myself but, I do know that, In order to be able to login to a Samsung Account, you will need the "Samsung Account" app installed first.
The following link is one place where you can obtain the Samsung Account App.

I'm not sure what would be missing...
I personally don't think that this would be a device specific issue but, I am only assuming this myself.
Try posting this issue on the following help thread and be sure to also let them know that you have the latest Samsung Account app installed and still not sure why it's not providing you the ability to add the Samsung Account.
Maybe there's some other app that it requires to accompany the Account app...
