Hey guys and gals,
So I just rooted my EVO last week with the Beta unrevoked with success. I flash my first ROM that day(Drew's GB 15a ROM). I really like it but it really isn't something that I could use everyday yet, of course.
That being said, can anyone recommend a ROM that is just as easy to flash without haveing to flash anything else over it and with everything working? I hope I am making sence. Maybe a Froyo ROM without sence or even with sence. Anything custom that people really like. I am just getting into flashing ROM's so, I am trying to keep it simple at first.... The EVO is my first android phone. My hardware build is 0003 if that helps. I got it on release day.
Thanks Everyone!
Can't go wrong with cyanogen.

Thanks for the replies guys! Do you have any links for the ones you like? When I do a search here I get tons of threads!
cyanogen's current stable doesn't have 4g FYI. i just got my evo today & flashed the fresh rom (used to use his hero roms). i dig it.
If you like sense Fresh is the way to go, calkulins ROM always been my favorite. Just head over to the development thread you see them, download, nandroid backup, wipe, flash.
I've had my evo for about a month and I flash a new rom every week a to try them all out I'm currently on my fourth rom and I think a nice noob rom would be the Sprint Lovers rom its not too different from stock

Make that +2 for MikFroYo! From another noob. Easy flash, no other installs were needed.
+3 mikfroyo for 4g and tether. I prefer cm6, but I was experiencing 3g dropouts.

No doubt, myn's warm twopointtwo has been the best ROM that I've flashed. It incorporates sense. Definitely worth checking out,

By the way, all the devs do great work. Thanks for all your input.
CyanogenMod....easilly the best rom out there. I get superb battery life out of it. It's very responsive.....just plain the best.
P.S. If you like sense try Fresh or Warm they are both great.
Can't go wrong with cyanogenmod. Yet again when you want gingerbread go with evervolv and sense go with myns or virus

Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

insertcoin is a nice mix between sense 2.1 and 3.0

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.
Good luck anyways.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z
if u don't want sense...
If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo
Cm7 has been the only rom I stayed with. I tried sense roms and wanted to pull NY hair out, I simply just cannot stand sense.

I'd also recommend trying out Miui and vanilla based Roms

In time, yep, will be flashing around here and there and i'll know for myself. I just wanted to know which ones are the best to start of with. I remember when i got my Milestone, man, i flashed all the bad roms first, had soo many problems.
Especially when ROM threads exceed 50 pages, Yikes!! Takes forever to go through them.
Thanks though!

Hello all,
I recently decided that I wanted to play with my mytouch 4G for a while. I was looking through the ROM section, and there were a lot of ROMs...very overbearing for someone like me. So, I decided to reach out to the community, and ask for a ROM that would suit my needs.
Requirements:
1. Good Battery Life
- I don't use my phone too often, and I hate it how with one day of low use my phone will go down to around 50%
2. Fast
- Speed Demon!
3. Stable
- Don't want apps crashing, now do we?
4. Updated
- Would prefer something that gets updated, so I know that I'm continually being supported with bigger and better things.
Think that's pretty much it. Thanks for all your help!
First post on XDA. Hope there's more to come!
CM7 or Faux's AOSP. Both fast with great battery life.

Most of the roms get to a "final release" where everything thats going to get worked out is worked out so that's where the older roms are but if you want one with a consistent update and speed try miui demonspeed as it gets updated every week hope that helps and welcome to XDA!

The one that has worked best for me is the Community Rom. I wish it came with the old lock screen as an option though. Thats my only prob with it.. other than that, it's been the most stable of all that i've tried!
The most stable ROM is FROYO stock. But that's probably not what you were looking for.
-xdadevelopers-user
Nils 3.0 v2.2 (or 2.1 or whatever version I'm on) is working extremely well for me, I think the bigger question is what about it isn't working for you?
The most stable rom you can use is decks aosp which is built to 2.3.5
No froyo space issues...or lag from the newer sense ports.

You haven't tried the new desire HD 3.0 roms. There is absolutely zero lag and it honestly runs almost as good as the OTA.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
I actually have tried newts new one. I had phantom call issues.
I am not sure how you would know what Roms I have tried.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yes I agree I found a great Rom which is ace revolution 3d, I havnt tried the other devs version of their desire port, but if you have flashed all the diff devs ports, id like to know which is your favorite, I'm just not dissappointed at all with ace rev 3d ROM

Stable rom
[ROM][MikRoms] Desired Inc HD 3D Vthree [Updated:16Sep2011]
This is the most stable ROM I've found so far.
I'm a big fan of Jermaine's I'm a big fan of Jermaine's In-Sensitive Minimalist ROM. It has by far been the most stable ROM I have used. If you're looking for Sense 3.0 he has a Dee-Zire ROM that is AOSP/Sense 3.0.
I haven't personally tried it, but if it's anything like his other work I'm sure it's top notch.

Well a suggestion for sense 3.0 is kingdom stock ginger sense 3.0 it was last updated in June but I've ran it and it's a nice rom though if everything force closes do a factory reset
Desire HD vfive
Try that one is most stable by wildstang
the video recording is choppy for now though but is stable and is sense 3.0
I'm running McSense and everything is stable and fast, but it seems to be taking longer to charge the phone.
No complaints other than that!
For the most stability I'd recommend something close to the stock GB that was recently released, with some enhancements. Two ROMs that stick out in my mind are jermaine's stock+ and mcd's mcsense. Both devs have senseless versions as well which are just as stable.

+1 Jermaine has the most stable ROMs as they are the closest to stock. I personally drive IM 2.3.1 and love it. He stopped his Sense 3.0 ROM in beta for not living up to his standards. You can trust his development to be 100% stable.
I'm running the 666th Sense ROM and loving it. It's the stock framework with some awesomely twisted tweaks, and with tiny's kernel the battery is running better than ever. I've lurked here for forever and have learned a lot - figured I'd throw in my $.02 for whatever it's worth.
Good luck in finding something you love.
I'm running a rooted Evo 3d so I don't know much about what goes on here. My wife has finally decided to let me root her phone. What are some good stable ROMs that are a good balance of preformance and speed? Preferably de-bloated. Also is there a preference root method. I'm at work and on my phone so my ability to research is a bit limited for now. Thanks
Well my friend, this is the EVO 4G section, not the EVO 3d section =p but I would say check out team nocturnal and swagstr for roms for the 4g if its what your using.. Usually very stable and fast. If your looking for 3d roms, try team nocturnal also
My wife is using the OG Evo. I'm set on my situation. I was looking into rooting her phone for her. I'll look into Nocturnal.
I would recommend Mikg rom it is completely stable has a lot of themes and amazing support. As for root method it depends on android version. If the phone is 2.3.5 you have to use HTCdev its like hboot 1.5 for the og. If its 2.3.3 you have to use revolutionary.io and check what hboot you have. If 2.2 you have to use unrevoked

Also, if your wife is kind of a girly girl, diablo67 has a pink themed ROM on here that he put a lot of work into.

SOS X..Sense, No bloat, fast and when combined with lionfish kernel you get great AOSP-like battery life...
I'd agree with the SOS X recommendation. Can't go wrong with MikG though.
Root your wife's phone? Run in the opposite direction and run very fast... No win situation! lol

Tommy Tomato EVO CLASSIC ROM... I have tried many others and this is by far the best sense rom I have used. Extremely smooth and stable. I've even tried a few after being on it for awhile, but I keep coming back to the classic. I say give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

I have been running rooted for 5 months and have become very fond of the Cyanogen Mod7.1. this has been very solid and i discover new functionality daily. This make your evo the swiss army knife of phones.
Nitrous
I can't say enough about Nitrous -- running it for a couple months now. The RAM to SDcard feature gives me loads of memory to work with, and the ROM is super fast even considering that the SD RAM probably adds lag time.

You should also partition her sd card to get more space with any rom you use. I'll say MIUI its clean and simple and many many themes.
