Perfected SPL Question

Hi there,
i managed to root and flash cyanogenmod to my vodafone magic 32b and wanted to flash another splash screen which eventually failed. I found out that i have a perfected spl (1.33.0006).
Now, shouldnt this prevented me in the first place from flashing another rom and can I just flash another spl on my magic since i already have recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img running?! If so, can i take any spl or do i have to take a spefific version for my magic?

Sorry, I don't know that answer to your question but I have one for you!
I'm on the same phone (apart from i'm on HBOOT-1.33.0004), did you just flash Cyanogen like any other rom (like a hero rom for example)?
I have had hero roms but want to switch to Cyanogen and want to know if I just flash like any other.

ok, i was bold and flashed Crios_SPL_1.33.2004 via recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img.
It now says

apparently not, since this tutorial worked flawless for me (i am running cyanogen)...

Sorry, my mistake, got it working now.

Basically I didn't! I think that is for someone who is upgrading from a previous version.
I just wiped then flashed the HTC update, then flashed the rom as normal and it worked.
Although I have no bloody keyboard!

bought a mytouch

I just bought a myTouch 3g.
I have a G1.
Is there anything special I need to know about rooting this phone, and what would be the fastest 2.1+ rom to use?

We'll its really going to depend on your fastboot info (what SPL/radio your using) then you can go from there. The Androot method seems to be the now easiest method and from what I've read has a high success rate. You'll need to get your fastboot information then you can start searching. The answers to your questions are out there. The biggest thing with having the 3.5mm Jack is the ROMs available for it. There aren't many so your choices are limited.

In most cases, no. The original MT3G (no headphone jack) is one of the easiest phones to root, which is kinda awesome. Download universal androot, then rom manager, flash the recovery and then install roms as usual. Way easy!

You NEED to post your information before you can get anyone here to help you.
All that we know at this point is that you have a MyTouch without the 3.5mm jack. But did you know that there are still different versions of your device? If someone gives you instructions (or reference to instructions) that is not meant for your device then you might end up with a broken phone. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THIS!

When your device is powered off hold down the volume button while pressing power. It should take you to a white screen. Post ALL information that you see on that white screen here in this thread and then we can help you.

I don't think he's actually got the phone yet. I think he was just trying to get a jump start on getting it rooted once he does. I could be wrong though.

I've got it rooted and I've got Rom Manager, Amon Ra [32B] installed... what do I need to know about radio and SPL for this phone?

I have same phone as u. U have new radio. I flashed 2005 eng spl to mine to get s-off. Fastboot purposes. Use amonra 1.7.0. Just make sure whatever u flash is for 32b. Most Roms for it will be in g1 section. Check the sticky section. Will have spl if u want Eng spl and list of roms. Try them out.

I have AMON RA 1.7.
Is the SPL the reason why I can't use fastboot?

Yeah the S-ON means your SPL has security on which keeps you from running any remote fastboot commands from your computer. If you've already got AmonRa loaded on your phone your good to go and wont need to mess with your SPL/radio. Just start flashing ROMs.

Now I know people have had trouble getting the trackball flashing to work... Does anyone have a suggestion?
I'd like to keep CM6, but I'm willing to revert to a 1.5/1.6 rom if need be.

i just wanted to help, but donjuan is right.

gingeryoshi works fine. If you follow the rooting process correctly you would be left with CM 5... you can then flash yoshi then flash the kernel linked in the first post in the yoshi thread. Then reboot. worked flawlessly. Though i had to re-install swype via their beta program. got addicted to that like crack with the official t-mobile firmware.

Just search the forums for "unroot mytouch 1.2" and use the link to "finally a way to unroot". There's a file in the first post that you run from the computer that will get you back to stock 1.6.

Cyanogenmod 6.1 Keeps Rebooting

I rooted my phone and have Clockworkmod Recovery to flash roms. I flashed cyanogenmod 6.1 the stable release but after I finish it just shows the mytouch boot screen and reboots. I already try wiping it and flashing it again. But no luck Any help please?

Try flashing a 2708+ kernel. There are lots of them, you can find one on cyanogen's site or on xda (search kernel corner) or you could google "pershoot 2708".

No, foot's completely different from the SPL. There are a few features unlocked in the 1.33.0013d SPL that are not usually available with the stock 1.33.0013 SPL.
