[Q] Motorola Droid Pro In India - Droid Pro General

Hi,
Can anyone let me know how can I buy a Motorola Droid Pro in India.
Based on your experiences (connectivity, keyboard, battery time) can you tell me if procuring one is worth it.
I am looking forward to use the same in India.
Awaiting your reply.
Regards,
Mac

Funny you should ask- I just got back from Mumbai a few days ago. Not sure if 3G is available, but for the entire time I was there, I was switching between EDGE and 2G CDMA networks. Not particularly quick, and battery life was sucked down FAST. Not sure if that was only because I was roaming internationally, but unless you have a 3G connection, it might not be worth the extra expense.

TD2 tmobile usa reception?

im looking forward to purchase one but i want to know has anyone used this phone here in tmobile usa if so how is the reception ive searched all threads found none that tells me what i need to know please help me im impressed with this phones hardware and improved ui but i dont want to purchase a phone that is not going to get full bars if the phone can get at least 5 bars on edge then i want it pleaaseeeeeeee help
it's working
I'm using it now, feel nofear
I have had my D2 for just over a week now and have not had a problem. I have had Full bars. My aunts house and my Families restaurant I get the usual 0-3bars. Happens with every phone and every carrier at those locations.
Today my receprtion....not just mine.... My sisters, brothers, and cousins, all on T-mobile with different phones had retarded reception. 0-3 bars at certain times of the day. So it wasn't the D2. The other phones were BlackBerry Pearl (yuck), Samsung Behold, and Nokia 3510 Express. All from T-mobile.
Can you guys share the radioRom version you are using?
I am having horrible reception on this phone =(
after doing some testing tonight, I found out that 3.46.25.18 is the best rom for tmobile USA, although is not that big of an improvement
Hope it helps
...
I really think there should be a post dedicated for matching the best ROM with different regional carriers

A new HD2 owner with a carrier problem

Greetings to all from a new HD2 owner. After retiring my Fuze some time ago and going with a Tilt2, I've now retired THAT puppy and decided to go with this lovely new T-Mobile HD2. Now I've got a problem.
I recently had to move to a new home. My old home had awesome coverage for every carrier in the Southeastern US. My new one...not so much. AT&T coverage sucks so badly my Tilt2 is almost unusable. T-Mobile coverage is only marginally better. I've waited the requisite 40 days to unlock my HD2 with T-Mobile so now I can use either carrier in my HD2.
Since the office pays for my phone & accessories, I sprung for AT&T's 3G Microcell. It's a decent device and works great with my Tilt2. I know T-Mobile's 3G uses a different band than AT&T's 3G, but I hoped the Microcell would still help the HD2. As many of you might guess, I was wrong; it apparently works ONLY with the AT&T 3G bands. T-Mobile HD2 is out of luck and T-Mobile doesn't offer a microcell. I had hoped the HD2 might have superior reception by virtue of better hardware but that also doesn't appear to be the case.
So now what? My Tilt2 is great to use in the house with the Microcell but calls don't transfer in or out worth a darn. I have to be well out of my neighborhood before I get a decent AT&T signal. T-Mobile works good about 25% of the time, marginal around 50% of the time, and worthless the remaining 25% of the time. The HD2 is an incredibly awesome phone and I really don't want to go back to my Tilt2. And I don't want to get a land line if I can help it because it'll get very little usage.
What about VoIP clients using my home WiFi? Anybody got any good suggestions? It can't be anything expensive or I'd just pay to get a land line instead.
Last item: my office has me on a sweet unlimited/unlimited/unlimited plan with AT&T that doesn't cost me a dime. I'd really like to stick with AT&T as my carrier if I can, but the poor coverage at my home and lack of Microcell with the HD2 is a serious problem. T-Mobile coverage throughout Atlanta is OK but I've noted it's nowhere near as good as AT&T. I could deal with WiFi VoIP if there was a cost effective option.
PLEASE HELP!
If youve ever used Skype before it works as a great VOIP option on the Hd2.
Ive never had a problem with the Skype app on my Hd2. People hear me clearly, you can even use it on 3g in a pinch, and you can sign up for a Skype unlimited plan for $3/mo. The only thing is that Skype stopped having the application download on their website due to their Verizon android deal but you can easily google "Skype Windows Mobile Cab" and you will find it like I did.
I'd look for a telestra australian hd2 to purchase. It works on at+t 3g, and would fix both your problems.

[Q] Does the UK HTC HD2 work in USA?

title sums it up really. im going to america for about 4 months and wondered if my UK HTC HD2 will work over there. im currently on t-mobile in the UK, but the phone is unlocked. im going to be travelling around a bit, but a bulk of my time will be in new york/new jersey area.
if not any advice on a handset that does work? id like to keep people updated with my trip so twitter/facbook access is important.
any advice on what network and what plan to go for? to be honest the first 3 months i will probably pick a pay as you go sim, as i will be working and will have access to twitter/facebook and a phone provided. it is the last month that i will be travelling around and is when data access will be important.

Hi,
I am a UK vodafone Hd2 user.
I travel with work to the US, including NY, 1 week every month and get a reasonable service. The main issue is that Edge is the best service you will get.
I do not swap SIM's but use roaming, 1 week is not too bad with data and call roaming packages but expensive for full time.
All other functions work fine including GPS

You mean you cannot 3G in US? Is it because UK phones don't operate on the 3G bands in US, or because your operator does not have 3G roaming in US?
thanks for the advice. im with t-mobile so il have to look at their roaming packages. im mainly based in new jersey/pennsylavania areas, can anyone reccommend a network with a good reception? im going to call t-mobile a bit nearer the time and see what they can do, maybe they can transfer me to a US plan? the main thing i wanted to know is am i better of buying a phone when i am out there, buying one in the UK that is unlocked and says USA compatable (quad band i think?) or should i stick to my HD2?

[Q] I would like to see a Sprint Android World Phone.

I don't know about every one else out there but, I would like to see Sprint with a Android World Phone. Verizon has two. I sometimes travel outside of the U.S. and I would like to be able to talk on my phone. I hate changing over to the touch pro 2 to do so. This was just my two cents. Does anyone this this will ever happen?
Definitely agree with you that Sprint needs a world phone!
I have been a long time Sprint customer (9 years) and although they have coverage in some countries, so far it has been dismal! I just got back from England and it was frustrating not being able to use my EVO but instead had to use my back up Nokia with a sim card slot.
I was just at Best Buy today inquiring if the Verizon Thunderbolt is a world phone (this is the only phone that is similar to the EVO that I am willing to switch to). Won’t know for a few more days when the demos hit the store. I am seriously considering switching carriers, it’s just hard to find a phone that is similar to my EVO! Also I have been quite frustrated with the lack of 4G in doors! I was just at Corner Bakery this morning and I was streaming the Chelsea / Liverpool game with my evo to my Elocity Android tablet and 4G coverage was just horrible inside. I walk outside and bam, 3 4G bars.
I would look at the Verizon Droid pro or Droid 2 (?, not sure if I have those model numbers correct) but I can’t stand motoblur. I also don’t like the fact that those are not 4G as I tether to my tablet and laptop on a regular basis and I love the 4G speed over 3G for streaming.
I leave for the Philippines in 2 weeks and yet again I will need to use my Nokia. I tried my Evo last time while in the Philippines and it didn’t work their either. I don’t like T-Mobile or AT&T due to the lack of unlimited data (T Mobile has a 5 Gig cap on thier unlimited data before they throttle you) and these would be the most logical choices since they use a sim card.
Other countries I have had a lack of coverage: Brazil, Peru, Hong Kong, India and a few others)
If anyone has any suggestions, I am definitely open to hearing them.
I've also been a long time sprint user 7 years. Look at the HTC inspire 4g from ATT. It's almost just like the EVO. Bad battery. 1250 compared to EVO 1500. It hasn't come out yet. If sprint comes out with a Android world phone just like the EVO or better that would be my new phone.
The EVO you wish you had

[Q] Xoom on talkmobile (UK)

Has anyone got a Xoom on this? It's the carphonewarehouse Vodafone network, it's significantly cheaper but wanted to know if you get the full service as if you'd gone direct to Vodafone?
Comparisons here:
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mo...OTOROLA-XOOM-3G-PLUS-WI-FI-TABLET/MONTHLY/NEW
I've had no issues with signal compared to my 2 proper vodafone devices.
I too have my xoom on this network and find the internet experience to be equal to the true vodafone network

Its good here. I may ditch orange on my desire soon too!
Another happy customer here, never heard of them before I bought the Xoom, but no problems
I went for the unlimited data plan for £25 and have to say very happy with covetage. The xoom seems to pickup a good 3g signal even when my Vodafone hand set jumps in and out. Coverage map is useless on their website though, been around south wales and all down the south coast with no signal problems.
Location by network gave me one issue by St Ives putting me 10 miles away from gps location (didn't check my phone against it). Google account sees the device on Vodafone network. Only wish I could use my vodafone sure signal with it as it covers more of my place than my wifi.
Only thing I would say is be sure you want a xoom, not tried anything else but an ipad and I'm happy, my concerns are life expectancy of the xoom over other tablets. With lack of support and information regarding updates worries me somewhat now. Don't know if I'd been better with the htc flyer or even waiting for the Sony tablet due soon.

Thanks everyone - seems like it's an ok option.
Agree about deciding on the Xoom, not really an Apple person though and have been waiting too long for the new Galaxys.
Me too great service good price with talkmobile

I was very happy with Talkmobile, as I'd had no issues til a few days ago. Lost internet connection completely, yesterday my Xoom was back on the network but still no internet. Would be nice to have an explanation at least!
ive been getting fantastic hsdpa speeds of 6mb while I barely get an O2 signal on my Desire! I just wish they would hurry up and push the 3.1 update!

If the latest rumours are to be believed 3.1 won't hit our shores until August so don't hold your breath.....

yes
carphones talk mobile xoom deal is great.
voda network is by far the best 3g-H in my part of the uk
FTW !
works great here on unlimited option which I use to connect to my slingbox. Habe also rooted and updated to 3.1 and over clocked tiamat kernel.
Talkmobile +/-
With talkmobile i had to pay £229 deposit.... and they asked me to fork over another £150 to remove the content lock...
I find there CS is quite pushy towards direct debits... on 8 occasions they have asked me to set one up yet I declined (ha ha), never missed a payment with any company XD
But on the other hand there CS is good at resolving queries and work a charm. The device is unlocked which is great and I can pop my 3 SIM card in there with 15 Gb access all areas internet.
What are your thoughts on this Talkmobile?
Talk Talk are gash

Dude, phone Talk Talk now! My friend had this, and after a load of investigation it turned out that despite having an unlimited data package, talk talk were actually billing him for data, and he had a bill for £281 which in turn had led to his sim being blocked! If he hadn't phoned up they would have automatically debited him in a few days, and then probably would have had a major battle to get that cash back.
