Monitor CPU Clock? - Droid Incredible General

I want something that I can monitor what my CPU Clock is at. Something that will tell me what my clock is running with the screen off. Is there any way of doing this?

setCPU might work for you

Doesn't SetCPU just tell you what the governors are set at and what the clock is currently running at? I want something that will tell me what the clock was running at when the screen was off. And preferably free.

setcpu is free for xda members, search for it on here...as far as when the screen off I'm not sure. I was just reading a post but can't remember what it was about dammit, lol, you've tried the market then? if so just google it man

Has to be the paid version for the background monitor to work.

[Q] Overclocking

i recently rooted my wildfire and have installed cyanogenmod 7.0.3 and wanted to double check something, ive been looking around threads and these overclocking guides and i saw that one of them said you only need a kernel with the ability to overclock if you are on stock rom, otherwise you can install setcpu straight away and overclock, could someone please just clarify this, thanks
Cm7 has overclock built in so no need for additional kernal or setcpu app
Go to Settings > Cyanogenmod settings > performance > CPU settings
It's basically setcpu built in

There is a check box that says something like " set at boot" tick this and it will retain your settings

Also Smartass Governor is very good. Its interactive so manages CPU when required or when your handset is idle

so does this mean it wont affect battery too much as it will automatically reduce the speed and increase it when required, also what speeds would you recommend for min and max?

Yeah, as far as I know it caps min setting to 352 when idle/sleep even if you have yours min set higher than that. It then uses required CPU up to your Max depending on what processes are taking place.
Overclocking will effect battery life if you push it to far. I currently have mine set at 352/691 and it works for me giving speed and battery life.
Experiment your own tho

question about over clocking

i'm using "Toxic Baby" FF KB5 2.9.2 I897/T959 Captivate Rom{Toxic Heroes) 4/17/2011. Maybe I mis read but i thought that you can set you clock speed in there and i'm just not finding it. Also if i select one of the "launcher" how would i change it to Launcher 7 if i wanted to later
Download setcpu for oc. Use app homeswitcher to go back to other launchers.

To over and underclock you need an app to do so (maybe there is another way but I've never seen it) here is a link for SetCPU a simple to use overclocking app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
before using this you should read the ROM forum and make sure there isn't a specific overclocking app you're supposed to use, and check your app tray and make sure there wasn't an overclocking app preinstalled.
i've looked all over at all the apps and settings and i couldn't find an over clocking app. Thanks for the link
You have to download one from the market.

Setcpu is free too, just download it from xda.

It works differently. Nofrills sets the freq and gov and then u exit. With setcpu,it runs in the background, always running.

So which one is better?set cpu or no frills??
Obviously No-Frills is better...
I personally prefer NoFrills, been using SetCPU before, I think this one is more user friendly, and I like the 'Show notification on boot' option

Obviously No-Frills is a better choice.

Desktop wallpaper and default SetCPU settings?

2 questions:
Does anyone know what the default SetCPU settings for this device is (factory defaults)?
Does anyone know how to select the background wallpaper to NONE?
-The set CPU is set @ 1000Mhz by default and can be over locked to to 1400Mhz
-Just get a black picture?

Thanks for the SetCPU answer. The black picture is something I can obviously do, but I am extremely dissatisfied with the lag that I get when rotating the desktop, and I wanted to see if selecting nothing would help.

[Q] CPU Temp Widget

Hi,
Im searching for an app that shows CPU (NOT battery) temperature of a (rooted) Nexus 4. Prefferably with widget.
Most of the apps show that the device does not have CPU sensor. Is this right?
Thx
AW: [Q] CPU Temp Widget
The SetCPU widget can show the temperature. You can find SetCPU for free on XDA.

Hi,
System Tuner (I use it, and with an addon for a notification in the status bar), after it depends of the kernel, for example Trinity kernel has its own application with a widget for CPU temp, also maybe Francisco kernel with his own app (but don't remember exactly, I no longer use it for now).
These apps you have tested do not be updated for a long time... For sure SetCPU and System Tuner have a widget (for common apps)...
AW: [Q] CPU Temp Widget
thx.
are you sure that the widget shows cpu temp instead of batt temp?
seems pretty low to me...
tapatalked
i think you need a custom kernel to be able to show CPU temperature.

Re,
Yes I'm sure and certain, you can use another app that display the battery temp (or in the dial pad do *#*#4636#*#* and check the battery section) you"ll see that the temp's are different...
And if I remember right with the stock kernel you should also see the CPU temp (I tested at the beginning and I think it worked).
Cool Tool
