So I ran the optus upgrade from the dell website today, amd when I went to test the camera I get "Cannot connect to camera" error
Cant seem to find much info, just bits and pieces. Is there a fix for this?
Have you rebooted? How about a factory reset?
Sent from my Dell Streak
yeah, tried that. Have also reflashed the same stock rom (2.2 v318), and reflashed a beta 2.2... same deal.
I got the unit as an ex demo, and it had stock 1.6 on it. I didnt use the camera before I ran the update, however there were a few pics from the guys at the store on there, so whilst its possible its a hardware fault, dont really think so at this stage.
If I cant sort it today, I'll take it back tomorrow... have already spoken to them so they know there is an issue

When trying to use google maps this afternoon I noticed it wouldn't fix my location.
I rebooted the phone but no difference. So I ran ##gpsclrx# and entered my MSL code, rebooted and still nothing.
I next wiped and reflashed my ROM (Fresh 3.4) and of course, no improvement. I flashed again this time with the 3.30 "stock" Sprint ROM, ran gpsclr, no dice.
What other options do I have? Last resort is of course the sprint store, but I'd like to fix it if possible.
Any tips guys? I really use GPS a lot. I'm contemplating running the 3.29 RUU, but is there any likelihood this would be any more effective than wiping and flashing a new rom?
Also is there a rooted, stock Froyo 2.2 rom I can flash that will fix everything that gets modified over time?
Download an app called gps status, wipe your info then re download it

No luck
I installed it and reset my GPS through the app, still wont lock.
Sprint store dude. Not looking good.
8pen from my supersonic on the xda app.
Yea, I would go back to stock and hand it over to them..
What kernel are you using? Some BFS kernels give the GPS a hard time
King havs #11 right now but I tried with the htc stock kernel as well. I'm gonna run the ruu and take it back to sprint
I just realized if they replace the phone I'll have 3.30 most likely and be unable to root for a while, correct?
Try gps test from mkt. It gives the number of satellites which you're able to lock on. The signal to noise ratio too. Then you'll know of it's hardware or software. I use fresh's 3.4 and kings 11. The gps is ok.

You can still root it, you just have to do it manually for now.
Ran the RUU, still broken. Took it to nearest Sprint repair centre where they gave it a kinda half-assed once over and determined the GPS isn't working. :-| They said they were waiting on a shipment and I could go pick up a new one on monday.
It will be sad to give up my launch-day 002 hardware but I'm tired of using my garmin!
Does anyone know if there's any differences in hardware?
Did anyone else get an update pushed that downgraded you from JI6 to JFD (stock)? This morning when I woke up I noticed an update alert from T-Mobile just like I received for the JI6 update. However, when it finishes and I am rebooted, I am back to JFD. What gives? Has anyone else seen this?
Sorry, I didn't see the question a few posts down about this issue. Seems to be what happened to me.
There are couple of other posts on here that report the same thing happening. Not sure what is going on though. Seems like Tmo run amuck.

I too have the update waiting in the notification bar, it's been connecting to the DM servers for the past 20 minutes. I don't want it if it's going to revert me back. Tmobile had no idea what I'm talking about...so what do we do? Keep hitting postpone?! Thank!
Could be....prepared to get flamed....an update configuration the phone needs to update to .....can't say it....ugh, froyo. Ok getting prepared..fire away.

I can confirm the "rumor". I recently contacted support (T-Mobile) regarding an update performed via KIES. After getting them to send out a replacement, I discovered the "update" this morning. One thing to note, the "replacement" arrived with JI6 installed. After installing the "update" I found the following changes to indicate a downgrade.
1. Applications removed/changed. Media Hub (changed), HD Video Camera (removed), & Task Manager(removed). There are probably others but for lack of better phrase, it appears they restored the device to the factory version that the devices came with.
2. About Phone, Baseband and Firmware version changed. Baseband is now T959UVJFD & Firmware is 2.1-update1
So at this point I am one of the more disgruntled T-Mobile customers, since prior to getting my replacement, I was informed there was NO WAY they could downgrade my device, to the factory shipped SW version. I will be making a call to Support and demanding why they have untrained staff, because obviously they would have told their CS staff about this pending 'downgrade'.
Downgrade Confirmed!
I don't know how I'm going to get rid of this update pending in my notification bar. Is my only option to install it?
I recently reset my phone back to stock and for some reason the Market isn't updating by itself.
it's a problem EVERYONE is having right now, if u can connect to wifi it works, some say opening gtalk helps too
edit: apparently now my gtalk can't login now either fawkkkkk
my market actually never updated on its own. im still stuck on the old version. Any reason as to why this is?
well we're talking about manuall updating actually
Would the Google Apps zip for CyanogenMod 6 or 5 work? Assuming is has the latest of everything that is.

He said it isn't updating itself.
Weeks back it was randomly updating itself on different phones. Mine never updated.
+1 on the !update. Never got it. Ever. Did manual update, phone eventually b0rked, did a hard reset, still haven't gotten it. My mother's Transform got it within minutes of coming out of the box. (Actually, after installing a GMaps update.)
here it is
The Android Vending
omg, dude, this is awesome, it worked, is there a newer version?
is this working on HTC hd2 custom android version ?
Should I bite the bullet and try an upgrade? I'm still marinating on 2.1.
if you feel safe, and don't mind taking the phone back to the store for repair at any random day
then go ahead by all means.
PROS: you'll find out sooner, and get your phone warrantied before it expires, or your device might work perfectly and never dies.
CONS: you'll most likely be stuck without a phone for a few weeks
I've had JL2 for a couple of weeks and it's working well. I did have Darky's ROM on it for a couple of days but it was acting up so I put JL2 back on.
No lag, Great GPS, no issues at all.
Ian
I love JL2... But I have not had a single issue since the phone came out. I was the first person to buy the phone at the north Bell store in the Eaton Centre the day it came out on Aug 6th.
I flashed jk4 on dec 8th or so and had no issues and then moved to JL2 a few days ago. On 2.1 I always got a quick lock with GPS but did suffer from minor drifting. That drifting is now gone on 2.2 (both jk4 & jl2)

And after reading the sd issue thread I would reccomend upgrading even more. If it bricks with sd failure it really sounds like Bell had stepped up with getting new phones and a credit out to people.

been on jl2 since dec 24th, everything works fine for the most part. One issue though - i can't close the contacts, i have to press the home button and then when i check the task manager, it's still running in the background. This get's pretty annoying. Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT:: also do you guys see 304 MB of ram that's accessible (through task manager->ram manager)? That's what i see (wasn't 2.1 also like this?)

Do it now so that if you have any problems, it'll happen sooner than later, and you'll still be covered by your warranty, which you are almost 5 months through.
If I were you, I'd install it as soon as possible. Worst case scenario is they ship you a new phone within 7 days if your phone breaks. My phone had a failed internal sd when I did a factory reset before I went to try the jl2 upgrade since I was told by bell it would fix the problem, but unforunately my phone broke before I even got the chance to do it so bell did a work order and sent me a new phone which I should receive within 7 days, all I have to do is ship them back my broken phone when I receive the new one.

My buddy's phone died after going to JL2. The good thing was that Bell is giving him a new phone within the next 5 business days AND he got $100 credit for all the trouble.
I flashed the jl2 modem today on a jpu based rom. A couple hours later and I'm now stuck in a boot loop. coincidence? Who knows.
I've been on JL2 since it came out on Kies. The day before while I was on JK4 my phone was starting to get some FCs and at one point I got the "Internal SD Unexpectedly Removed" error so I'm pretty sure my internal SD was on the brink of failing. I'm glad a new firmware came out. I immediately upgraded and did a factory reset and formatted the internal SD. It's been smooth sailing ever since and I do take a lot of pictures, video, etc. on my phone with no issues since JL2.
I love JL2 so far. It's fast (just as fast as JK4 was) and after some tweaking via instructions I found here GPS is good. I have had ONE force close since upgrading and I think that was just the Winamp app being stupid.
I haven't really seen anyone posting here about actually being bricked after JL2. Has anyone actually upgraded to JL2 and got the internal SD error?
Thanks for the input everyone. I'm a little more confident now with upgrading. And it of course makes sense to do it now to find out problems whilst there is still warranty.
I'll give it a wack tonight. Btw, with an upgrade, do things like music and contacts get wiped out? Its my first android upgrade and I plan on using kies. Any caveats with kies?

You should be ok with a straight upgrade, but I'll always recommend doing a factory reset - it clears out the crap that could cause problems.
As for your music and stuff, that depends where you store it. If you have it on your internal sd, and you do a factory reset, then yes. If its on your external sd, then no. Contacts are fine if you store them on your SIM or sync with Google.

Is it really safe to combine different files from different ROMs? I would think mixing and matching can cause some problems.
Ian
I do have one complaint after going to JL2 -
In my Picasa albums in Gallery, the photos are no longer sorted by date as they were in 2.1. Also, sometimes the Gallery fails to load/display the full resolution image instead just displaying the pixelated preview while flipping through images.
Never had this problem in 2.1 (JH2) - I wonder if it's possible to revert the Gallery app to the previous version?
I got my phone in september and never had any trouble with it. I have rooted it, applied different lag fix and enen managed to stupidly brick it but it always survived.
I like JL2, but I had no problem with JK4 either. However, I don't find TouchWiz as smooth as it was with JH2. It lags a little when switching across apps or homescreens, so I use LauncherPro which is perfect.
BUT, my GPS doesn't work at all
It worked ok before installing JL2, but now its totally useless. I can see satellites but can't get a fix....any advice?
Smooth ride so far. Went from stock 2.1 (end-of-August purchase) to JL2. I did not do the JK4.
So far ok.............. I seem to get FC on the Samsung hub everytime I pull the battery out and I have to re-install the app. GPS locks but it takes awhile.
Just do it! My phone was bricked on Dec 25 for no reason. I updated to froyo 2.2 via Kies about a month ago. I called Bell and told them my issue, internal fried sd card! They gave me Bell's Data Support line. I'm getting a brand new Samsung Galaxy with the latest Dec 24. froyo 2.2.1 update installed. I'll be without a phone for about a week or so but there customer service is awsome. I also go a $100 credit to my account for the inconvience.
If you update and phone is bricked call this number 1.877.328.2123 and they will send you a new phone in 3-5 days.
Hello guys, I am having some problems with the official Update froyo for samsung vibrant. I can't answer any call and the status bar doesn't work. Anyone else is having the same problem. I am going to downgrade my phone with odin to android 2.1 and then instal the rom axura or Nero.
dont have this problem
Mine has been stock ROM since I bought it last fall, upgraded to the official 2.2 KA6 and experienced huge lag issues, status bar would sometimes take up to 5 seconds to open after a swipe, apps would lag, etc. GPS was never fixed for me. No problems with calls though. I went back to JFD and then flashed Axura. No lag, GPS works (<10s lock, excellent accuracy), etc. Just do it, I should have done it long ago.
Upgrade
I am having a problem as well, have search not just this one but many. I can hookup mini kies and it starts the download gets about 1/3 of the way through and stops, says " cannot upgrade, try to pull the battery and reinstall and try again" have tried that four times? Suggestions anyone, I have not even heard anyone have this problem, have tried T-mobile, XDA, Android Community forums and nothing.
Anyone?
Have you tried resetting the phone?
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Tab
No have been trying to avoid that, I will try it though. Did not want to redo everything I have on the phone. Oh well, I will give it a try.
Thanks,
try to do this.
First check if you have checked on usb debugging. Samsung mini kies has to detect you phone now. Upgrade your phone
No I didnt, I will try that first. I have to charge the phone now, I did not realize that was not checked.
