Anyone ever had an issue not downloading things from android market? Click on update or purchase and it start the download, only to stop split seconds later.?
Yeah... it happens sporadically for me... it started a week or so ago.

Had the same issue myself when I updated to DI09. I googled a couple of fixes but they didn't work for me. After blowing everything away and trying to restore and failing, I wound up having to flash myself by to stock using adryn's ODIN file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867648.
Hopefully you won't have to go as far as I did.
This solved my problem

My market just displays "starting dowload" indefinitely when i try to download anything. And my google talk closes the instant that it opens. Any ideas on a fix?

+1 on needing a fix.

Have either of you done a titanium backup?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I had that problem yesterday I had to un-root the phone I can't post the URL but you can find the thread in the 2nd page of fascinate and devlopement forum
it was the only solution I found and it helped
Im Having the same problem. Happened after flashing JT's clean ROM.
It's from restoring apps with Titanium Backup. For whatever reason, whenever I do this, it breaks my market no matter what ROM and whether I have Voodoo or not. Restore to stock, re-root, and everything, and you need to restore every app manually.
I did not use Titanium Backup.
I posted a new thread about this, seemed to work for me and a few others I tried. Check "for anyone having market issues"
Been having the same problem. I used titanium to freeze then defrost Market. Then did the same thing to Market Updater. Market works perfect now, but it reverted from the Froyo version back to Eclair. But it's better than not working at all.
Promise this will work. Just go to titanium and click on Market and then click Wipe Data. Do the same with Market Updater. All will be fixed.

Thanks for the idea.
Got anymore? Did this, and the thread mentioned above and no change.
I will have to try reverting to eclair if i can't get this working. Argh

This is an old issue, with several things to try.
I would first suggest looking through your application list and uninstalling any 0.00 sized files left as ghosts of apps manually removed. There will possibly be other smallish sized files left behind as well if you can identify them.
Force stop and clear market cache
Boot into recovery, clear cache and reboot.

I tried everything you just said above exactly. It still has the same result: "Starting Download" indefinitely.
I also tried using Titanium Backup to wipe data for market and market updater, but that didn't work either. I'm pretty frustrated that I can't figure this out
Got a solution. I was having the same problem with my Evo. Go to applications, then go to installed on sd. Move everything over to the phone. Then go to all applications and clear cache/data/and force stop it. That did the trick. You can move everything back to sd card after it fixes the market issue and it shouldn't happen again.

Uninstalling the froyo market and reverting back to the 2.1 market resolved this issue for me on 2 phones ... Mine and the wifee.
I had this issue, and I found out something peculiar. I was running JT's Super Clean rom with Market 2.2 and a Voodoo kernel, and the Factory Reset ran, but did not actually reset anything. After turning Voodoo off, I was able to Factory Reset, which fixed the Market issues.
Same thing here...
I was having this issue as well. Had to install JT Clean rom w/ wiping cache and data. Tried every suggestion in the book but none fixed it but wiping cache and data and installing JT Clean Rom.
jv
After updating to the.340 ota update I have been experiencing frequent random reboots. I am rooted with z4 root. I have tried 2 factory resets with clearing the cache and it doesn't help. Any suggestions?

If ur comfortable with an sbf u can try that. Or a good rom like GummyJar.
Just a thought. Or could be bad hardware
I was thinking I was going to have to sbf. Is the file you download called update.zip? If so I have the file and rsd lite, I just can't find good instructions on how to do it. I have done it once before but it has been a while.

This should help you out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895261
Yes thanks that is what I was looking for. I think that was the instructions I used last time. I didn't have much time to mess with it tonight but when my phone was plugged in and turned off and went into whatever mode when you hold down the volume down and camera button, windows couldn't find the drivers for the device.

Just wipe data. I had the same problem. Completely wiped and phone is fine now.

I had the same problem. I had downloaded app killer & found out that Droid X doesn't need it. Once I removed app killer that fixed my issue.
Well I finally sbf'd my phone but it was a .320 instead of the.340. I still am having random reboots and can't figure it out. I have tried to do a manual update to.340 but the phone says I'm up to date. I found the system only .340 update and will update it that way. I thought that launcher pro might be a problem and noticed it was slowing down the system, but I am still rebooting with adw launcher also

If I'm not having reboots should I update my baseband, kernel and so on to the leak versions?
I got this phone 3 weeks ago, got a update to 2.2.1 then I flashed fission on it after wanting more..
someone help me out here
Hey guys, i was wondering if any of you have had this issue before/already and found a way to fixing it?
Well, today i went back to my recovery image i made on the 3rd of May, which is just the stock 1.8.3 right after i downloaded and installed the update. And as i opened up the market to download some apps, nothing would download at all and nothing would update either
I got frustrated so i decided to another recovery to no avail and my market app was still rendered useless...
So then i decided to go ahead and do a fresh 1.8.3 sbf flash to no avail either. Then as a last resort i went all the way back to flash the 1.2.6 sbf flash and then i did the 1.5.7 OTA and the finally the 1.8.3 OTA to find that the market app was still acting the same way, not letting me install or update any of my apps...
Any hints guys?
Bump. Anyone?

Yeah, that didn't really do anything =/ but on the brightside, i did a factory reset in the recovery and then i went into my market app and it magically worked again? So problem solved =]
If anyone runs into this in the future, hope it helps any?
I updated to EI22, stock w/OTA update. I then rooted and things were working great. Then about 1 week ago, I did a CWM backup and when I restarted the phone just kept automatically rebooting approx. every 3 -4 minutes. I could not stop it no matter what I did. Then I restored the backup and it worked fine. A few days later, I turned the power off to put in a my extra battery, and when I turned it on, the same thing happened. I had to restore twice fir it to stop this time. Then this morning, I did a reboot to see what would happen, and again it happened. Mind you it was working flawless before I restarted it. I have tried everything from removing programs, turning off the wifi, leaving the battery out for a half hour, but nothing. Sometimes after it reboots, I leave it alone for 15 minutes and then when I hit the power button, it just restarts.
Any ideas before I put back froyo??
Sounds like a bad flash. I would Odin all the way to Stock EC05 then root then flash a Gingerbread ROM. Your error is either in the kernel or recovery to happen immediately after boot. It could even be a flaky partition table.

OK. Funny, I flashed backed to a stock EC05 and did the OTA update so as to possible avoid any problems like this.

I figured that but the problem may lie in the rooting which required you to flash a kernel or in your recovery module.

Your not alone on this issue. I am also considering going back to froyo
ADW was nice enough to bring up a crash report that I emailed myself. In the stack trace I see that android Package manager has died as a cause of the exception. I am not a java programmer so am at a loss here to what's happening.

So I flashed to the ACS ICS rom and so far no problems. What a great ROM!! Many thanks to Marcusant and ACS.

don't use the OTA.
just root ec05, flash CWM 5, flash modem update ec05 to EI22, flash a rom of your choosing. it's that simple. i don't see why people go the OTA route. it just causes problems with the recovery.
EDIT: also if you want Rom manager, check the kernel(or rom) for compatibility.
Why use ROM MANAGER at all? All the same tasks can be done from Clockwork Mod directly?

It was not supported for the Epic before but with the new CWM5 it is. It is much faster to boot into recovery from ROM Manager rather than powering down and 3 fingering into it. Plus ROM Manager supports renaming your backups when you are doing them. Also ROM Manager will continuously update your CWM if new versions come out. There is also OTA updates available if the developer supports it on their ROM.
I rooted successfully some time back using motochopper and regularily use tibu, root explorer etc, so know I have root, but each time I turn the screen on get this message: "Error! No root access or incompatible devise". It goes awat after a few moments but is in the way and very annoying.
I have searched xda as best I can and googled, but am not finding anything on this message. Has anyone else got this message too? Can it be fixed?
Thanks,
Dan

what device, what rom, what anything, hard to help, when you do not provide the info...
Sorry, I don't have a fix for you.
I went through a root hell similar to that. This was a few months ago. I googled all over and tried everything and never could fix it.
Ended up having to Odin back to stock.
Re-root & install recovery.
Then flash another rooted ROM.
You might try installing SuperSU though. See if that taking over for Superuser will resolve your issue. I doubt it though. I tried it on mine and still had weird issues.
Root worked great in some apps and not at all in others.
Like I said. I ODIN'd back to stock.
OK, here are the details.
SGS4 32 gig ATT i337 UCUAMDL stock out of the box rooted with this "error - no root found incompatable devise," which persists after flashing ShoStock 2.2 I337UCUAMF3 with baseband I337 UCUAMDL and 3.4.0 Jebo Kernel v1.5. Though I actually do have root and use many apps like tibu, triangle away, root explorer, etc. They all work fine. Just this pause and error message most times I activate the screen. After a bit the error message goes away, but its1 tough to do anything while it's still up.
I don't recall having this error message before restoring/unrooting my first SGS4 to stock and exchanging it for 32 gig version. It too had AMDL.
Certainly don't hold myself out to be an expert, but have been rooting / flashing for 3 years with Captivate, SGS2 and now SGS4. Been going nuts tring to find something on the issue by searching, so was glad to see CZ Eddie had a similar problem and fruitless search...and that was resolved by flash back to stock and rerooting.
Yes, BTW, I do have SuperSU installed.
Curious if there are any explanations or other solutions.
Thanks,
Dan

I noticed on two occasions, that this error returned coincidentally when I reinstalled or unfroze an app called Touchscreen Tune. After uninstalling or freezing that app, problrm does not recur. Has not recurred for several months now. And I remain on same stock rooted rom as previously. Not sure if there was an incompatability with touchscreen tune or if this was all coincidental. Think ill reinstall touchscreen tune and see what happens.

Yep, Touchsceen Tune appears to be the culprit. Had same problem with Tab2 earlier too. Which after reading description in the market, it was tested on SGS2, but no mention of SGS4 . And explixitly states not compatable with Tab2. That's unfortunate as was a great enhancement to my SGS2 and Tab7500. But, maybe there are other similar apps to choose from. Anyhow, seem to have identified the problem.
