MultiCSC OXXJK2 - Asian MultiCSC - Galaxy Tab General

ok i know, another attempt to learn something from seniors:
Just downloaded the 'GT-P1000-CSC-MULTI-OXXJK2.tar.md5 *' from samfirmware.com attempt to flash asian multicsc and after unzipping, see the tar.md5 extension and feel something have to do with the 'signed' thingy every one now fear of.
This tar.md5 contains 3 files: cache.rfs, dbdata.rfs & moveinand.mst
May i know will i face problem if i flash this csc with Roto's JME firmware?

I just try flashed my tab to the newest asian rom == ZHKA1 with the CSC u mentioned .....
After reboot.......
Do u think I being signed?
HA...HA....HA....
It still unsigned and can flash any rom I like..
I just test it with SGT bootloader check..!!!
So, just go on, without this CSC, the tab even can't boot!!!!!
MY FIRST FLASH in Galaxy TAB...

the mentioned CSC didnt work with Roto's JME flash which i applied to my SGT. Odin1.7 reported checksum not right or something like that and halt the flash. so i am using CPW from JME multiCSC that came with Roto's.
I will try when gingerbread 2.3 is ready for SGT. btw, you're from HK/China to use that ZHKA1?

I from Hong Kong, haven't flash Roto JPE before as it have protected bootloader issue.
Just follow the guide of Chainfire to asure the ROM is safe before flash. I think your tab have be protected as the post stated by Chainfire.

he....he.... "Fus" mean what??
I am not expert, just share my experience to see if it helpful.
When I 1st flash I9000, I lost much thing, like APN (can't use 3G), CSC code( no Samsung Apps to download, market link, can't use KIES to update offical rom, IMEI no), and some app which need password and username as I forgot that anyway. So try to backup everything is the must before you flash, as mentioned by Rotohammer and Chainfire.
Go to your APN setting and write down everything for u to get your 3G connection.
Use Z4Root to root your device and make a full backup with "Titianium Backup".
Use SGS tools to backup ur product code, something like nv_data.bin etc.
Use root explorer to copy the /efs
Use Chainfire root if u can to make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it is highly recommended in case your TAB being bricked can easily recover to the current stage without pain.
after everything backuped, copy all the file to your computer or external SD card and remember to unmount it.
Flash is simple , backup is painful but MUST do if u don't want to post "my TAB is bricked, help me pls" in the forum. (In actual case , it is really difficult for u to brick your TAB or I9000 permenant if u are not a developer like Chainfire as they always try to make something experimental on the phone that why they are so respective!
Flash procedure:
1. stop the KIES running in your computer, (front or background running is not allowed), terminate it by task manager of window if u don't know how.
2. start the Odin v1.7
click the re-partition box, click the pit and choose p1.pit, click the PDA and choose the ROM file u want to flash,in me case is KA1, which should with .tar as extension, click the CSC and choose the CSC u want to use.
3. power off you TAB , remove SIM and SDcard, press the volume down and the power buttons together for a few seconds, a nice yellow android robot appear on the skin, release the buttons and connect to the computer asap.
4. the Odin window will appear a yellow box if it detect the phone, then click the start button.
5. everything will go on automatically , no need to do anything and pls don't, be patient . The whole process of flashing about 3 to 7 minutes, then the TAB reboot to fresh new ROM.
p.s. if any thing go wrong or missing berfore u connect the phone to computer, just close all restart again, do not click any thing not mentioned. If the phone hv any problem long press the power button for 8 second will reboot. if u failed (odin will tell u), and see "phone-!-computer" ,just re- start the odin again and plug in the phone, u will see the yellow box and click start , the flashing process wil restart once again.
hope helpful. ;-)

Out of interest, do you use this Linux shell command ?
#mount -o loop factoryfs.rfs /mnt/rfs
On Mac OS X terminal I normally use the following commands, but I don't think modifications can be written back to the RFS archive:
#sudo mkdir /Volumes/rfs
#sudo hdiutil attach -imagekey diskimage-class=CRawDiskImage -nomount factory.rfs
#sudo mount_msdos /dev/disk{n} /Volumes/rfs
I use Ubuntu for most of my Android hacking, so I guess I will also start using Linux to look inside RFS archives, and to modify them directly

[Q] is there a custom recovery that will work for me

My phone settings
firmware version 2.1-update 1
baseband 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14
KERNEL VERSION 2.6.29-36D5CB8D
[email protected] #1
build number 3.35.61.2 cl196735 release-keys
software number 3.35.61.2 browser version webkit 3.1
I have been wanting to install a custom rom on my phone for several months now however no matter what method i try i am unsuccesful closest i have come is using rom manager which allows me to reboot into recovery but once the handset has rebooted home screen and power button just gets me to the triangle on screen and i have to remove battery. all flash recorder methods fail at either back up recovery
or writing flash.
I believe my phone is rooted as i can grant su to rom manager ect and androot tells me i am rooted it is like something resets recovery every time the handset boots into os.
i really have tried every method i have found but dare not try and install anything for fear of recovery not being available to me and i am now wondering if the 2.1 update has blocked something.
please help willing to make donation to any devs that can help me through this as well as the countless others having the same problem
there was one thread here .. try to search it i forget link it can explain you how to root official 2.1 otherwise run RUU & Do downgrade
according to all the programmes i run to check status of root (latest one is under the hood) it lists
Device: htc_hero hero
Root Status: Device routed
ro. build fingerprint: orange_uk/htc_hero/hero/hero:2.1-update1/ERE27/196735:user/release-keys
every programme that requires root access works for me tho i do have to grant it every time for programmes , the clockwork recovery has to be reflashed if phone has been restarted to enable me to access the recovery, and when i do this su pops up telling me it has been granted.
1 method i tried but never got past step backup recovery was this but i get message backup failed could not run command
"HTC Hero Custom Recovery
Step 1:
It's advisable to format the SD Card before do this process. You're going to lose all the information in the SD Card, do a manual backup to your computer of whatever you want, to do it:
Settings -> SD Card & phone storage -> Unmount SD card -> Format SD card
Step 2:
Download the flashrec from http://code.google.com/p/flashrec/
Download the recovery image provided by Paul from http://www.romraid.com/paul/hero/1.2-hero-recovery.zip
Extract the 1.2-hero-recovery.zip to your PC.
Step 3:
Now copy flashrec and recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img (wich is inside the .zip file) directly to your SD card
Step 4:
Use an app installer from Google Market to install flashrec, i used ASTRO, but can be any other.
Step 5:
Once installed, open the program, click the button "Backup Recovery Image" and wait to finish, shouldn't take much time, this will do a backup of your actual recovery and put it in your SDCard with the name recovery-backup.img.

You're absolutely right, the 2.1 update for the Hero installs a recovery rom reset, so whenever you boot up your phone normally, it reflashes it (or possibly checks that it's not the original and then flashes).
I don't quite remember where this was done anymore, it might have been a script in /system/bin that gets called from init(rc), called something like flash_recovery.sh. Perhaps someone who isn't running a custom rom could help out and pinpoint it for future reference (I am so not going back from cyanogen 6.0
Edit: I grabbed unyaffs and checked out my old nandroids, it's /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, comment out the line in it (add a # at the beginning of the line) and it will not clobber your custom recovery
i have located file but now i feel really stupid as have not got a clue what to edit it with i am assuming it would be some type of txt editor and if u could specify the line i need to edit out or is it the name of the file i am changing,

It might need to be a text editor that knows not to break unix line endings, but you can copy the file (cat file > /path/to/destination/file) to your sdcard or use adb to pull the file... fairly straightforward I thought.
A big thankyou to duck0 for identifying the problem and botoo for getting me to a happy conclusion with the correct commands
SOLUTION IS HERE USING Console mode from windows using ADB USB DEBUGGING HAS TO BE ENABLED WITH HERO CONNECTED TO PC THEN TYPE THE FOLLOWING
THEN ENTER AFTER EACH COMMAND
anyone needing help setting up adb see this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=757233
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Thats it all done next step
INSTALL ROM MANAGER FROM MARKET IT IS FREE
open it and sellect flash alternate recovery image from the bottom, you can use the clockwork recovery but it is not compattable with all roms.
once done turn phone off, boot into recovery home + power choose to exit recovery with reboot shut down once again and if you can enter recovery then everything is sweet.

no phone function on my Galaxy S

My details are as follows:
pda i9000ddjg4
phone i9000ddjg4
I downloaded Kalpik and Doc rom and flashed with clockworkmod. I was not satisfied with it and moreover it changed my product code. In Kies I used to get message that my firmware cannot be upgraded. Therefore I copied two files from my original backed up efs folder to the new Efs folder. The files were copied using busybox and terminal emulator. The files were nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5. I got the original product code after rebooting but instead of the phone operator symbol now I get a blue circle . Again I restored, using rom manager, my phone from a previous backup(from my original firmware). But again the same problem. I used Odin and flashed the ddjg4 firmware. That also has not helped. Can somebody guide me how to get back the phone fuction?
Check this thread out:

**IF YOUR SIMCARD DOESN'T WORK AFTER THIS, EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING**
- adb shell
- su
- busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
- reboot
You can also do this from the Terminal Emulator if you don't have ADB on your PC! Like this:
-su
-chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
-reboot
I hope it's easy to follow my steps, it works guaranteed.

It worked a charm. My Simcard now works. Thanks a million.
Oh I did not see that when I lost phone functionality when I did it.
Can I use this method to trick KIES?
Although the regedit hack would be easier I guess.

The hack only tricks Kies, your phone still has the wrong productcode after flashing. Mine did at least. Went from european JM2 to JM8 and then to scandinavian JP6. Had some troubles with it so used the registry hack to go back to the official european JM2. It worked, but in the registry it still listed as a scandinavian JM2. Don't know what the difference is (except for different Samsung Apps).

[SPRINT] Sprint Tablet Owners Thread (Root, ROM, Flash to stock, CWM Recovery)

UPDATES STOPPED: MORE IN-DEPTH THREAD POSTED OVER IN DEVELOPMENT FORUM WITH UPDATED INFORMATION.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275031
There have been a number of threads regarding working with the Sprint tablet. Due to the lack of support for it, I've complied various items from all across the information tubes to help your get the full use of your Sprint tablet.
I've compiled the instructions from various sources across the internet. If I've failed to reference an item, let me know and I'll correct it.
Something to keep in mind - Heimdall and Odin use different drivers. You WILL NEED to swap between them each time you swap programs. It's unfortunate, but it's necessary.
Flash back to stock (EA24) with Odin
1) Download the files from here
2) Open Odin, and select PDA
3) Choose the appropriate .tar file.
4) Make sure repartition is UNCHECKED!
5) Press start.
6) When the process is finished, the Odin program will say Pass, then Reset.
Install Gingerbread on your Tab
1) Download this file
2) Rename it to update
3) Place it on the root of your SD Card (not in a folder)
4) Boot into recovery and choose "apply update.zip"
Install Rooted Gingerbread on your Tab
1) Download the rooted GB file.
2) Open Odin, and select PDA
3) Choose the appropriate .tar file.
4) Make sure repartition is UNCHECKED!
5) Press start.
6) When the process is finished, the Odin program will say Pass, then Reset.
Root your Sprint Galaxy Tab on FROYO
1) Download SuperOneClick
2) Enable USB Debugging
3) Connect your Tab to the PC
4) Run SuperOneClick
5) Select Root
6) You're rooted!
If you're on Gingerbread, see this thread
Heimdall (needed to flash kernel with CWM)
1) Download Heimdall and unzip
2) Download Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable Package
3) Put the Tab in download mode (Vol Down + Power)
4) Connect it to your PC
5) Navigate to your Heimdall folder and run zadig.exe
6) Choose Options>List all devices>Samsung USB Composite Device
7) You'll receive a prompt about the driver, accept to install.
Kernel with CWM Recovery for FROYO
1) Download the zip file here
2) Unzip the file. You will need the file named zimage only.
3) Open Heimdall Frontend
4) Select Browse under Kernel and navigate to the file you downloaded in step 1 and select it
5) Press Start
6) The Tab will reboot, but will freeze on the Samsung logo. Turn it off and boot into recovery (Vol Up + Power)
7) CWM Recovery will attempt to back your tab up, but will fail. Don't fret.
8) Do a factory reset in CWM Recovery and reboot
9) You'll freeze on the Samsung logo again Turn it off and boot into recovery.
10) CWM Recovery will back your Tab up successfully.
11) You now have a CWM backup. Reboot.
12) Your auto rotate is broken.
13) Download the rotation file
14) Put it in /system/lib/hw and change the permissions to match the other items.
Heimdall/CWM instructions compiled and cleaned up from here
Flashing ROMs
1) Keep in mind that the dev may suggest a specific kernel. See kernel instructions (step 1-5 above)
2) Put the ROM .zip file on the root of your SD Card
3) Choose install .zip from SD Card in CWM Recovery
4) Select the ROM .zip file
ROMs for the Sprint Galaxy Tab
1) Honeycomb - in early stages (Dev - spacemoose)
2) Better than Life - FROYO (Dev - oldmacnut)
3) Future Echoes - GB - (Dev - oldmacnut)
4) MIUI Port - (Dev - oldmacnut)
Finally, each of these steps involves the potential of rendering your device useless. Take care with each step. If you're not 100% comfortable with the process, post your questions. Hopefully, other Sprint owners will take note of the thread and use it.

From what i've read, that is a known side effect, it happened to me too. Also my camera and screen auto rotation are broken. I know there's a solution to the screen rotation issue, but still looking for the solutions for the other two issues.

yes but is a bit more complicated, you can simply flash the zip up there on 183. and then get a build.prop for any version and replace yours with it. now to download its the tricky part
you are going to needs to be rooted
and once the download starts you are gonna want to open a shell
abd shell
su
cd /cache
trail - -(not sure what options they where) file.zip >/destination/file.zip
is easier to let them do it themselves.

I'm on retail france 2.1.1, during setup it does not give me a cloud option.
I've installed the file through CWM and done a factory reset. Any ideas?

You cant install through CWM you have to place them in manually as in the instructions
if you have root explorer go over to your files and on top at the right theres a yellow button with read 0, click it and it will say write 1, then do it again
it remounds your system

doing the back-up now. on bell. going to start from the bottom of the list and work my way up I assume I only upload if I find a different file than what you have?
Where does the META-INF folder go then? In root? I guess what I want to know is where those certs are supposed to end up.

if you find something like 2.3.3 that is particularly interesting because that is where we found our unlock from att (2.3.4 did not have this). I am talking in android versions not att/bell specific. Of course upload anything unique and we will inspect it to see if there is an unlockable bootloader inside =D
Come on guys we need to bring more attention to this! i will try the french SBF but it would help if someone could send me the Build.prop because i would rather not stray from the bell firmware, but if i have to i will to help out.

if you are in linux you can download any of the sbf, and sbf_flash
and do the following comand to split it sbf_flash -x sbf.sbf
the simply mount the image
perfect will do. I also am not sure where to put the META-INF folder. just putting it under / didn't seem to work

[ROM][STOCK][P7310] P7310UEKHA Stock Rom (US Retail)

Hey everyone - I figured this might help some folks. It is a CWM installable zip that will restore your system to a completely stock UEKHA (the US retail build for P7310). This includes the stock kernel and recovery image as well.
Heres the instructions:
1) Download this file: http://www.multiupload.com/1KRF1M4CQZ
2) Put the file on your internal storage.
3) Reboot into recovery
4) Execute the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option
5) Choose Install Zip from SD Card
6) Choose Choose Zip from SD Card
7) Select the P7310UEKHA_Restock_v1.zip
8) Sit back, wait about 5 minutes
9) Once the script completes and says "Done", reboot.
10) Welcome to a completely stock US Retail tab
Enjoy.
I just want to ask: Can we flash this on other 8.9s from other regions (namely, an Asian model)?
I'm used to how it is in Maemo where the only differences between firmwares is localization and some preinstalled programs.
Yes you could flash it onto another 8.9 as well, although it should be a P7310 (Wifi only). Just like Maemo, the only differences between regions are localizations and pre-installed apps.
This stock image would not support 3G functionality however, so it would be a bad idea to install it on a P7300.
That's great. Going to flash Clockwork and this once I pick up my P7310 on Tuesday.
Which reminds me - how are Samsung kernels built? I heard that they need to use an initrd (or can the modules be compiled straight into the kernel? or is there a kernel size limitation, which is why an initrd is needed?)
I am truly grateful for this as I rooted and debloated my Tab the very first day lol. This is a great step!
Just flashed my tab with the ROM, works great! Originally had asian ROM on the tab.
Thank you very much! I needed some of the stock original loadable modules after some prior tweaks .
Thanks for the good work!
I was checking the system script used, and I was wondering if this CWM preserve the file/folder permissions as out of the box state or is just 7777 state?

Permissions should be out of the box state...the system image was taken from my stock tab directly, and the extract script should leave all permissions in tact.
Hey alterbridge86, it's great to hear you have a GT 8.9 now, that's good news for us
Quick question, how did you dump the ROM and the recovery? I have a GT 8.9 3G from Orange France and I'd like to dump everything before installing CWM to be able to restore to stock if needed.
Thanks! And again, great work!

I ended up dumping it using the CWM I posted in the other thread. The new clockworkmod stores its backups in .tar format, so it makes it really easy to manipulate. Simply create a backup, then if you're feeling adventurous, you can take this flashable zip, replace system.tar and boot.img with the ones created by your backup. The stock recovery is same on all devices, so you can leave the one that is in this package and itwill work for you
Sounds good, thanks I'll give it a try when I have a little more time to play
Hey guys, i did something really stupid today to my 8.9 p7310...I installed that Asia update to it and it placed the tab into a loop and crashes in the settings app when it first starts up. Cant access SD card to install this firmware. I need the Odin firmware to put back to stock I think. Any ideas?

When you installed the Asian firmware at ODIN, did you remember putting the CSC, PIT, BOOTLOADER to their corresponding places along with the biggest file being at PDA? If you just used the PDA file and not the other files...there's your issue. Once you successfully ODIN, flash this specific CWM Recovery and then you can either choose Stock (this thread) or the Overcome ROM.
Yea just did the pda. The instructions only said the pda. Doesnt matter anyway i am back to stock used adb to load the stock zip to sdcard and loaded

Help getting China based GT-7310 to US stock
Hello,
I recently bought a GT-7310 in China, and want to get this to stock US using your method. I had a question on step #2.
2) Put the file on your internal storage.
How do I get the file to the internal storage and where is that location? I don't see an /SDCARD folder anywhere when browsing the tab in Windows 7. I have the latest USB drivers installed. I tried to push the file to /SDCARD using ADB but Android SDK tools doesn't recognize my tab. Are there any other ways to get the file to internal storage?
Thanks.

When you plug in the tab, it connects via MTP to Windows. Then you can only get to the internal storage, just drop it in there. You'll see all the default folders (music, videos, etc.) so you'll know your in the right place.
Thank you. I got the file to SD Card, went into recovery, executed the wipe data/factory reset option. After the wipe data/factory reset is complete, I selected the option "apply update from /sdcard". I selected that and I get the following error:
E:error opening /data/media: No such file or directory
Any ideas?
Thanks.
You need to use CWM recovery, not the stock recovery.
