[Q] No Roms for Download in Rom Manager? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been looking around and have seen that some other phones are having problems with the Rom Manager not listing Roms.... I was wondering if this was an issue with the Glacier as well?
I have Rom Manager Premium, and when I open Rom Manager and click on 'Download Rom', it only shows a listing called 'Extras' and doesn't have any Roms.
I was just curious as to if this is just my phone, or something the Glacier doesn't support right now? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it with the all knowing Search

I too have this.....issue? I'm not sure if its an issue or not

These comments on the market irritate me because it specifically says that it is at the discression of the developers. I'm a noob and you need to read my brother!

I hardly ever used rom manager, just download to sd and move the file to where it needs to go and flash . What I do like in rom manager is b being able to reboot into recovery
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

I'm also having this issue. I upgraded to the Premium Version so that I could just download roms, however, whenever I select the "Download Rom" I only got the " free" listing.
I just tried again, and got an error message that said, " Error occurred while downloading the Developer list." When I hit okay, nothing appeared. Then when I tried to go back in to the menu, it just brought up the "free" option again...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

None of the Roms for the HTC Glacier are official
No official CM
No official Muni
No official Roms...
So all the Roms that would be available if you had another phone in Rom Manager aren't showing up. Just go to the developers page and download the Rom and boot into recovery. And Flash & Make a backup everytime.

I have a Samsung Captivate and have the issue though. . . .

I did know it was at the discretion of the developer, I was just wondering if it were only my phone... now I know it's not thanks for all the replies

who cares? I paid for an app to get the "PREMIUM" Features to which there are NONE... and there's no way to get the $ back at this point... it appears as if no devs want to allow their roms to be listed in the download section which makes no sense to me as it's easier to DL direct to the phone and flash from the phone........

Why bother? Devs are NOT obliged to put their roms/mods certain places. You have to keep in mind, you would be hard pressed to find a dev that uses rom manager and clockworkmod recovery, everyone is using 4EXT

Nexus One Root/unroot and space pls help

Ok fellas! Im new to this world of android just bought a newsu one last night Its used and rooted. I installed bunch of apps and after a bit it gave me an alert of low space/memory. Never had this with my x10 . so i was wondering may be its cus o the root if yes? Do u recmnd unrooting to clear space? And in case of unrooting any help /guide would be much appreciated.
Also i saw the update alert ast night fo 2.2.1 but when i tried to update it it wa stuck on a black screen with a android(green guy) and a exclamation mark. so i r/s the phone again and ignore the update anyhelp. please...
Thanks a bunch.
The ROM would effect the lack of space, but having root shouldn't. It more likely the apps though.
Just try moving some apps to your SD (menu> settings> applications> manage applications... sort by size [menu key], then select an app. In each app there's an option to move to SD. Some will move, some won't)
There's plenty of discussions on the update, but it's probably failing because you're not stock...

First, decide if you want the update, or if you want a custom ROM...
I've not tried the update, so I can't make any recommendations.

Both of them were awesome, right now I have the mdaco one, but the there are few problems.
*. Showed still on 2.1 in setting.
*. GPS isn't locking.
*. Bluetooth isnt working.
*. When Im trying to lock the phone by pressing the power button it locks but wont go to sleep(back light is still on).
*. Power button won't work if i try to shutdown/put phone on vibrate/airplane mode/.
so far these are the problems im facing.

"Application Not Installed" when installing Angry Birds

I've downloaded the supposedly final version of Angry Birds, but I can't get the apk to install. When I try to load the .apk I get the message "Application Not Installed" and the process ends.
Any ideas as to a possible work around?
I'm rooted using netarchy's kernel, but the stock ROM with all the latest updates.

it will be hard to help you because no one else had this version. it is not in the market. it will be hard to determine if it's the app or your setup.
Yea, in Rovio's infinite wisdom they released the final product on Getjar.com and not on the market. So I didn't illegally download it, it just is from that website.

It's actually free from getjar but its ad-supported. I tried the same thing op, got the mail this morning, followed the link and after some trouble getting to the link, I downloaded it and tried to install and no good, so I tried unmounting my SD card and install bit then it says SD card needed for install. The email did say that the market would betting the full version soon, although I don't know is that soon today or tomorrow or weeks. Froyostone w/miriRom.

This distribution method is beyond stupid.

I'm rollin' stock HTC Rom, so I'm really perplexed why this isn't working out for me - at least.
On the positive side of things, at least Rovio is getting killed out there for this distribution method. The official links are down. People are posting dropbox links that are getting shut down for overcapacity. This is officially a mess. Here's to hoping we see it on the market sooner rather than later [and without ads - i'd gladly pay].

I downloaded it. It was a zip file. Extracted it. Installed the extracted apk. It installed perfectly. I played the first level. Haven't seen an ad yet. It has 150 levels! Fresh Rom 3.3.0.1 and Netarchy 4.1.9.1 BFS kernel.

i wont go premium until they fix it for HTC Incredible. When using ROM manager, after installing a ROM from the app and going in to recover autmatically(it gives you this option after the inital download) after the download it wont install automatically. I have to go toggle the the security(or whatever its called)disable and then download from sd card and look for ROM manually. I have reported to the deveolper but never no responce. But I would love to use the ROM manager how its supposed to be. If it loads the ROMS for you automatically I would suggest on buying. Great App!

I've been using it on my dinc with absolutely no problems. I've used it to flash more roms than I care to think of. I don't know why you're having trouble.

Same here. Other than Clockwork Mod having issues since I have a new SLCD Dinc (for which there are fixes) the app works flawlessly. I bought it if only to support the developer.

I used MIUI for a day and wasn't all that impressed. Yeah, it was flashy and shiney and new, but once that wore off, it wasn't anything special in my opinion. Went back to SkyRaider.
Its worth it if you like how the roms look i like them and ive never had a single issue
Besides miui and cm nightlies what other benefits are there from going from free to premium?

I do agree that supporting the Dev is nice and that's why I don't use the ad free app.

Doesn't it let you install from SD too or something?? I kinda of went premium aright away

ROM manager is a life saver for me, i have had zero issues as well. bought it to not only support the dev but because it's just an essential app for any ROM flasher.
i use adfree because i dont like apps that send personal information to ad agencies. it's a privacy issue for me. i buy apps if there is a version available.
Can't you just download the roms yourself and flash via recovery? That's what I do....never have to use rom manager unless I want to fix permissions or something.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Rom manager premium is a great app. Way too many benefits like "Fix permissions".
Costs lesser than the value of the time you have spent trying to figure it out. Seriously!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Well worth it!
Install ROM from SD Card
Download ROM
Check for ROM Updates
Install from QR Code
Manage and Restore Backups...
- Restore
- Rename
- Delete
Backup Current ROM
Fix Permissions
and more!
I bought it to support the developer first, but it has been a great lifesaver. On the other issues you brought up:
- Works fine on my Incredible, all the features with no issues
- MIUI Rom looks beautiful, but works only ok. I was running into all sorts of different issues, not the least of which being file locations and then it did something to my SD card that caused about 4 hours of rework. Fortunately I have been flashing since my Windows Mobile days and am finally smart enough to keep a full backup of everything I really need. I will say that it seems to run the fastest and in the smallest footprint though.
- I agree with the GamerZ, I went back to SkyRaider as usual. Rock solid and stable.

That's to bad it doesn't work for you.
Works fine for me with most ROMs.
Currently running Skyraider3.3.3 and it works fine. When I upgraded from 3.3.2 to 3.3.3 I downloaded the ROM with ROM Manager and was given 2 options:
1. Backup Current ROM
2. Wipe (can't remember the exact words in the menu)
When the ROM was Downloaded there was an icon in the notification bar, I clicked on it and it said "Download Complete". I clicked on the notification and my phone rebooted into recovery, done a backup - installed the ROM and rebooted my phone.
All with no user interaction other than clicking the notification to start the process.
I have had other ROMs that when I try the same thing it will not reboot to recovery. I have to manually reboot recovery (I usually do it from a command prompt) then it will start the install.
On those ROMs selecting "Reboot into Recovery" didn't work either.
I have used it enough that I think different ROMs handle this differently.
I've never had any problems with rom manager. I always download my roms here on xda (like miui, for example) and flash them through rom manager, though.
Premium didn't really have anything I needed, but I got it anyway because koush is awesome.

if you mean like Gingerbread mySense, i believe HTC/T-Mobile hasnt said anything. If you want gingerbread with regular Sense, a port if being worked on. If you want plain Google AOSP Gingerbread, try RoyalGinger, or CM7.
do u know will it be an OTA update for it?
Ya we will get it but that depends on HTC/TMo as they ha e to bolt it up with useless BS that none needs. This could be in months but why wait for that? We been had GB port in MT4G from months now? Look in to current CM7 project as we are using AOSP2.3.3 port now, mostly all use it.

NOTE: This is taking you have already rooted your phone with S-OFF.
First of all update your CWMR to 3.0.0.6 as in long run it will be better for you. Follow any of the single instruction bellow as Drew's is easiest which maybe better for you if it fails then try my is little complex but it will work.

Once you have done that now you are ready to download rom/gapp from the repository and flash it via recovery which you installed above.
Download> http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=glacier
GApp> http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip
NOTE: When you are downloading you can pick NB (Nightly Build) the higher the number the newest it is as you can see the date. Then download the GApp which is the Google Apps. If you don't know how to flash it once this is done post back ill give further instructions.

ROM Manager downloads for HD2

Will all us HD2 users ever be able to download .zip ROMs straight from ROM Manager? And possibly even have Cyanogen nightly support for HD2?
I was just wondering as this would make installing new ROMs so much easier, instead of having to connect to my PC etc.
Replies welcome.

Yes but it would be much more practical, and we wouldn't be able to receive nightlies, and not all Roms are on here! If you look in rom manager in the desire sections there are lots of roms I have never seen mentioned on xda before

Youre right.
I use desire z, and has Rom Manager installed.
If I want to flash new rom, I just open the ROM Manager and let it download and run it. And it will reboot to the new rom (custom Rom, actually)
But, I usually cannot stay long, I always go back to stock rom because I really miss sense UI
