I tried to update my i5801 to froyo but it stuck to the samsung logo. then when i replaced the battery an connected the phone again to PC, it showed ‘USB not recognized’. then i hard reset the phone by going in to recovery mode and wiped the user data, but the task did not finish and got stuck in to ‘wiping data… Formatting data:…’ . then i replaced the battery and restarted fone in normal mode. It now shows ‘GT-i5800′ in the center of the screen and ‘samsung’ at the bottom of the screen. what should i do now? please help.
Do you mean, you are upgraded to froyo using Odin?
If yes, which version you tried to install?
Maybe one solution with odin
Hi!
If your phone crash at start, try to do that: (ok on my I5800 Phone)
1- Go to samfirmware site (need free register), load the lastest froyo (I5800XXJPF), and .ops file in the bottom of page.
2- Unzip the firmware using password. (giving on the firmware page)
3- Launch odin, and select ops, boot, phone, pda, csc downloaded in first step.
4- Launch your phone in "downloading mode" (press vol- / center button and power)
5- Plug your phone with usb.
6- In Odin, click start when your phone is recognize and wait t'ill it's done.
I hope it help you. Sorry for my poor english.
Have a good day

I had the same issue with my I5800. I flashed with JPB. It went about 2 or 3 days. After that, it was stuck , when i got a call.I try to reboot my phone, but when I've to put the pin, it did not respond to my fingers. After that I reboot the phone to recovery mode. The empty cache menu was worked, but the factory reset did not.It was stuck to formatting....
.After 3 or 4 trying, ODIN was able to see my phone, so I flashed with the JI2 firmware. Now my phone is like the original
I think, that we should wait for officional fw from samsung.
Sorry for my bad english.
What firmware?
I was flash my i5800 with JPB and all was OK. After that I was try to root whith z4root software. That was without succes, I am exiting out z4root because it never finish.
Now my i5800 boot to samsung animation then nothing!!!
Can you help me, I was try other firmvare 2.2 and 2.1 but not sacces.
Thanks
Try flashing a firmware containing a datafs.rfs in the PDA .tar file
z4root doesn't work for JPB.. you have to use superoneclick
enable usb debugging
turn phone off
plug phone in via usb
start superoneclick in windows
click root
turn phone on
wait for superoneclick to say your rooted
VOILA
Yes, ok,
but how to recovery phone now?
Try to reflash latest 2.2 with odin and reroot

It is the same with mine. What is going on? I tried to format the phone in manual mode, but even that is not working.
I dont know, I will back phone to service, and wait, I dont have another solution.
I got he same issue when i flashed from the stock 2.1 rom to 2.2 (I5800XXJPA)
it got stuck on the samsung logo, if i did a reset or wipe cache from recvery i was able to alsosee the starup animation.
What worked for me was to downgrade to I5800XXJG6.
And ather that flashed it again with I5800XXJPA and later to I5800XXJPB.
Hope it helps for you!
@Megapaul
Thanks man ... I have downgrade ROM to I5800XXJG6 ...and It works nice ....I have try many ROMs....and with I5800XXJG6 my SG3 finaly works ....hehe...and now im gonna upgrade it to JPA hybrid
Managed to get the files downloaded and ODIN working. Switched off phone removed sim & SD. Powered on (HOME>DOWN>POWER) and it cam up downloading. Downloaded Version I5800XWJP.tar to phone (tried several different including ones with out boot bits).
Phone took the files and then re-booted and started the update process
Got to a point that says :
--Delete App Data...
Delete files, please wait.
The phone has been like that for an 1hour now. If I reboot it either hangs at the i5800 screen or restarts this update and halts at same point. WTF.
All suggestion welcome.
I have also tried using the HOME>POWER>UP key sequence and again it hangs at :
--Delete App Data...
Delete files, please wait.
Is there anything I can do to UNBRICK this?
try volume down+home+power and hold it until u see the downloading screen when in download mode try to flash a rom
Go to download mode and reflash the rom
Have tried both volume down+home+power etc. Also have tried re-flashing the ROM and it halts at the same point everytime. Have tried roms with the BOOT bits removed and Roms from SAMFIRMWARE.COM..... Still no joy,. The files appear to go down to the phone as Obin says PASS. and the progress bar on the phone (download) goes up. Then phone will re-boot and get to the
--Delete bit of the script and halts.
did u try to flash xxjpf? that rom saved me a few times dont know what it is
I'll need to download it at home and try later on, used most of my allowance on from my cell provider already trying different roms.
I can get the image to download just when the phone tries to update it always hangs. Getting hacked off as only bought phone yesterday....
Can't return it as it comes up with updating text every time you switch it on so they will know it has been cooked.
it hangs on factoryfs.rfs? than u have 2 flash xxjpf. worked for me. i had the same a long time ago good luck
The flash is successful, and passes in ODIN. but once the phone reboots and starts unpacking the files it fails with a message on the phone screen saying :
--Delete App Data...
Delete files, please wait.
with the Android Logo and a box on the wall paper. If I restart the phone it come to the same point, and halts again
had the same thing i was a bit scared
try to flash different rom, i.e. JPF works for me
its surely not bricked mate! good luck
Bro I dont think you have bricked your phone, i would suggest go to download mode and using ODIN flash a Stock ROM. You may visit the following link for the same :

Flash a stock rom and try booting in recover and wipe data and reboot. hope it works
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
The phone was working fine until recently it started rebooting automatically ever 2-3 hours...I didn't do anything about it and now it boot loops at startup
It's different from other problems as phone boot loops in download or recovery mode so i can't flash a new ROM or a official ROM. Phone is rooted and out of warranty so I'm not sure if i can give to the samsung service centre.
This may sound stupid but i think maybe the power button has been pushed a little deep and hence the phone reboots continously...but not sure of this...any way of removing it and inserting it back..
Or my phone is just bricked
Sorry if repost i tried searching but no results came with our phone
Flash fresh stock ROM via odin. For instructions and your firmware pack go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
Then root your phone and reflash your ROM, Kernel bla bla bla.
There is no possiblity that a phone will boot loop in download mode..
U sure u in download mode.??
That is power+ vol DOWN + menu button.?

yep i go in download mode and i press the up button (it takes few sconds for it to reboot). After this, screen goes black....
If i dont press any button..same thing happens...
@Uchooseme...i can't flash anything..as i cant remain in download mode...
I removed the battery and sdcard from the phone last night, and kept it that way.
In the morning when i booted the phone it stuck at "galaxy y" screen(no boot loop)[I had to press power button].
so i went in download mode and this time it worked(meaning no black screen)
then i went to recovery mode and did default wipe and cache wipe..rebooted the phone again..
while rebooting it showed something like this
"...log_files_...cant find dbRbooting\..." [...] something was wriiten but i could only glance the screen for few secs so couldn't make out what was written
-After this i thought maybe i should insert sdcard and then boot the phone. So i inserted the sdcard and booted.
-There it was again the boot loop. I didnt even press power button, the phone started as soon as battery was inserted
-The phone started and then restarted.(from galaxy y screen to black screen and back again to galaxy y..goes on like this)
-when it restarts (i.e. from galaxy y screen to black screen) i went to recovery mode but as soon i select wipe cache, it restarted again.
-Then to download mode..as soon as i tried pressing UP button...black screen(don't rember if it restarted atuo or i had to press power button but definitely the "downloading..." screen didnt appear)
I again removed the battery n sdcard (this time for 5 mins around)
-Again the phone stuck at logo screen (this time when i inserted the batery the phone didnt start automatically but i had to press power button)
-Without inserting the sdcard i went to download mode and flashed >>> S5360_DDLF2_ODDLF1_DDLF1_wipe_by_SplitFUS2 (the file i had used earlier while installing ussr i guess)
-This time it went thorugh the logo screen and the "samsung animation" came.....but the it rebooted again..went like this 3-4 times and went off
- now when i start it,it automatically goes to recovery mode and shuts off (doesnt restart)
[Only thing i can see here apart from the recovery options is ----applying Multi CSC----
Copied the default wallpaper file](in blue color and the bottom)

Hang on second boot usually means a corrupt data partition or bad app.
After factory reset leave your tablet alone for 15mins. It should boot after that.

Go to recovery and factory reset again then immediately boot to Download mode and flash the correct firmware with odin.
Make sure there are no errors when flashing and it flashes successfully.
Reboot and wait at least 10mins.

It is not broken @pitho. I have been in this situation. The problem is occurring because Samsung is such a heavily modded rom, it takes a long time to load and just as @ashyx said, because of a bad app. Some apps are aimed for Vanilla Android, but the developer does not restrict the app only for Vanilla devices but makes it universal. So, in order to get out, download the correct firmware from Updato.com
Press on the OS Updates in the website and you type in the device's name and the current build and what kind of version you want. (Ex: If you have Marshmallow, and your device had Lollipop before, you could degrade your firmware)
Download Odin (Just search it up on Google and you should find a download link)
Plug in your device to the PC after it is in Download Mode (Volume Down + Power Button + Home Button)
On Odin, it should say Device added!
Press AP slot and find the firmware (.tar.md5 or just .tar) you downloaded from Updato.com and select it.
Press Start on the bottom of the application and it should start. It takes about 2 minutes or longer to finish flashing.
There! You just restored your device! It will take a few minutes for the device to boot up and should be installing any additional files that were included in the Official Firmware.
Happy Flashing with ODIN!
Hi! Well, This is quite different from other cases. A time ago, I decided to reflash with Odin because reboots and crashes. After restart, and after the "installing updates" screen and reboots the phone dies , keeps rebooting or just powers off... When I try to enter in recovery mode the screen gets like the picture... Then the phone gets totally black, not even charging signs, screen or led... and... have to wait a day or two for a completely battery drain, charge it and start all over again... Sometimes it works and last for a few days, sometimes it doesn't... So I'm wondering if maybe is something wrong with the mainboard...
Thanks in advance!
Maybe youve flashed the wrong files in the first attempt, try using switch update to latest update via it and the Odin with correct files.
Does Odin detect your phone e in this state
Mnop... Im pretty sure the files are correct... The phone is an SM-G935FD unlocked and I use ARO version (I'm from Argentina) ...what do you mean to try with Switch and Odin? And the phone gets totally dead until the battery is completely drain , then it charges normally and can enter download mode again...
The phone is (i think) from UK, and imei number is /07 (both of them)
I was thinking next time not choose auto reboot and nand erase all, and try to go directly into recovery to power off and then restart again into recovery and make a reset... but I'm not sure... :-S
Well, I've tried again and now it get stuck on the blue screen with "Erasing" word ... wait a few minutes and force restart and it goes to the "no command" screen... Any ideas...? Should try to re-partition and nand erase all?

Well finally decided to extract the pit file from the CSC tar file and did a full nand erase all + repartition and so far it's working and downloading updates
Update: The phone freezed some times, showing lines and glitches and the reboots itself...still working... but seems that I'll to replace the mainboard at the end...
