[Q] HD2 Nand mms problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have installed the Nand on my hd2 and everything works spectacular except I am unable to send mms .... I can recieve them ! I have tried many different APN settings to no avail ! My internet works fine and I can receive pics ! Like I said I have tried every APN setting suggestion given but its not working . My mms just sets in the sent box with the timer next to it

Someone on another thread reported that he made 5 APN account's to make MMS work not sure haven't tried it yet

You should post this in the thread for your rom. Chances are someone else had the issue. It is not a general nand problem.

Which NAND rom are you using? I've noticed that roms using MDJ's kernel usually needs to be patched before you flash it to your phone in order for the mms to work. Other builds based on kernels like Hastarin's, Projection's and gauner1986's usually works without a patch. So far from the countless builds I've tried, CMYLXGO's Topia series are usually the most compatible build for TMOUS HD2 phones here in the states. Might want to that. But if you really like the rom you are using, try searching for the appropriate patch for it. Then share your steps to resolve it here so we may all learn from it.

It has been discussed multiple times on these forums.
The problem is Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) don't recognize mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com
So, either you change DNS to TMOUS, OpenDNS, etc. ones, edit your APN settings or use different patches.
Read this thread, search the forums and good luck!

Use mobile network widget. Widgets -> Settings -> Network/Mobile network/smth like that. Just disable it, send/recive MMS, and enable it again. You can also use "APN on/off Widget" from Market.

I think it is general problem with APN's - Android can be connected to only one access point at a time, and that cause some problems. I noted same issues in HTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC HD2 Android Desire/Desire HD/Nexus One from NAND and SD (Android 2.1/2.2/2.2.1). In all cases "APN on/off Widget" or similar software helped for me.
Finally there is another solution - just enable wifi, wait for icon in notification bar, and try to send MMS.

Aside from the topia roms are there any builds that can send mms without a patch? And not come out blurry? Preferebly a band desire z rom

Cooked ROM MMS problem

I've been searching all over xda and I havn't found a proper thread concerning the mms problems many of us seems to be suffering.
I've been trying 3 or 4 different cooked ROM's now and it's all the same, the MMS doesn't work... I've got HTC to send me the settings and nothing. I've tried to do it all manually, and nothing. The automatic setup doesn't work either.
Have anyone found a sollution for this problem, and are the chef's aware of the problem?
I'd appreciate if anyone could make things clear
(using Telia, in Sweden... if it's of any use)

Strange, I got halebop and have no problem with mms in cooked roms (6.5's) or stock rom. All i do is run connection setup, select sweden - halebop and reboot.
Does browsing work for you? Perhaps it's related to gprs/edge?

No data/SMS/mms Unlocked HD2 with Froyo 2.2 on AT&T

Hey guys! Been a long time follower of this site, not really one to post as I ca. Usually found answers. But my issues with my HD2 has me stumped. I'm very familiar with forums as I myself is a member of a few sites. I know the golden rule about searching before creating a new thread, but google and YouTube has failed to provide an answer.
My issue is that I cant for the life of me figure out how to enable data on my unlocked HD2 when Froyo 2.2 is loaded. When it is on WinMo everything works Internet, MMS, etc..
But when I launch android via Haret I see that it has AT&T service but no data ( just phonecalls).I've deleted and entered the APN several times with no avail. I've read numerous guides and watched endless videos and still can't get it to work.
If someone could please help me out I'd appreciate it.
Currently running energy rom, custom radio 2.15.XX, format FAT32 sd card, performed Task 29 several times. And using hyperdroid 1.7.
Thank you

it's not letting me post certain parts of the APN because they are links, you have pm sir. I apologize.
I am also using an unlocked HD2 with AT&T and data works automatically with no manual configuration. Go to settings, wireless, mobile networks, network operators and click AT&T. Make sure Data Enabled is checked. Try putting your phone in airplane mode in windows mobile.
Also, we are limited to EDGE data with any HD2 on AT&T, no 3G.
thanks guys for your comments. I actually went ahead and loaded another android rom that automatically sets everything vs manually. Everything seems to be working fine now.
Again thank you guys.
**Mods feel free to delete/merge thread**
I have kind of same problem i can get data and incomeing sms but no out going sms
thanks for help in advance

[Q] MMS problems with the most Builds...

Hello
I have problems with most builds with MMS
The only thing that works for me is MDJ's Clean 2.4. I've tried various builds. With sense or without Sense. Builds no sense I found not one that works for me. My wife has a desire and I use exactly the same settings for the VPN. The Desire of my wife works with the provider without problems.
For me breaks the traffic when i send or receive an MMS again immediately and the Internet connection is restored.
Can someone help me? I would like to use a build like JDMS 1.5.
Thank you
Regards Chris
My configuration
HD2 with Energy Rom
Radio 2.12.50.02_2
MDJ's Clean 2.4
Provider Sunrise Switzerland
translated with Google Translator

post either a screenshot of your apn settings or list your apn settings.
Im using simple mobile and some builds work and some dont and i have the right settings
mms problem
im unable to sent mms cuz it would disable all my settings..

[q] cyanogenmod mms problem

I'm going crazy with the question of the MMS in this build of American Android. I'm from Spain and my phone company Telstra (yoigo). I tried everything I've read but can not send or receive MMS. The APN is correct. Not if the problem is the build or in Spain we have to change any line of buildprop. I would appreciate answering me to post it in my country.
Thanks
make sure max message size is not set above 300k
ROM default mismatch some APN data.
Try correct your APN data.
For example, in my case: MMSC rom defaul was h t t p://202.222.042.204:8002
but MMS only starts to work using h t t p://202.222.42.204:8002
Follow and type your APN data.(the correct one for your country and carrier etc)
Look carefully for any differences betewen rom default and carrier request.

The APN is correct. I have no problems with other builds. I come to think that only works in U.S.A. so I tried to change the DNS in the buildprop. This has not solved the problem. I connected and disconnected and have exclusive 2G connection on and off wifi as I read in a previous post. Neither works. Thanks for the reply. Can you think of something else?

i dont just mean teh message is actually smaller than 300k, i mean that the setting 'max mms size' is set to 300.
I cant find this particular setting in my rom, lol, but ive seen it given as a solution twice recently, I suspect the roms in question are using the tmobile 1000k default size, and those threads have reference to a max mms size setting in their mms settings screen.
reference one two

Sorry, I found the option in GO SMS, but not in the messaging program of build
Any other ideas?
I love this build. The only problem I've found are the MMS. Maybe it is a problem that must be solved by CyanogenMod guys

MMS requires Mobile Data on
Hi,
I can send and receive MMS as long as Mobile Data is on. However, adding a MMS APN does not work; when Mobile Data is off, MMS can't be sent or received.
I've verified the Netcom Norway MMS APN settings to be correct, and this works on my LeeDroid 2.2.1 configuration. For Cyanogenmod, this does however not work. I've verified this both on my DHD (CM 7.0.0) and HD2 (CM7RC4).
Too bad, as I configured the HD2 for my gf, but she does not have a data plan...
Thor
I can also confirm on hy Desire GSM on Telstra running CM7 stable that you can only send/receive MMS if mobile data is enabled.
Can anyone say if this standard/expected behavior for Android roms on Telstra?
Today i had a problem where i couldn’t send MMS messages using my SGS Android phone. Im currently running Cyanogenmod nightly 181 so i went looking for a fix.
This is what worked for me:
1. Download root explorer (It costs a few $ from the market, but well worth it) or an equivilent and give it root priviledges.
2. Locate the following file, telephony.db: /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
and
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
3. Rename the file. (e.g xxtelephony.db.xx) or delete it (I deleted it)
4. Restart your phone
5. Now try sending an MMS.
That solved my problem and i can now send MMS messages again. This fix may also work for other roms, so give it a try if you’re experiencing problems.
I had the same issue in my Desire S (Saga) with CM7. Send/Receive MMS only with enabled Data APN. I tried to delete the telephony.db and restarted my phone. After the reboot mms works fine, but they set my Data APN back to default (i renamed the apn to be sure that the data connection is disabled). I renamed it again. After the reboot also the telephony.db is back.
My first test was positiv, i now can send / receive MMS. Hope that this will not change.

[Q] Help: No MMS with Fenny or Insane

Other Roms I can send/receive MMS without much problem. But with Fenny or Insane I can not send MMS with the default app or with Hangouts.
I can send plain texts with both, just not MMS.
I would rather use one of these 2 roms because I need to be able to use the screen mirroring with my samsung tv which I havent found functional on any other roms.
Would love any suggestions or tips, on what in particular with these 2 roms prevents me from sending/receiving mms while others and stock do.
Thanks

I remember trying that with Fenny, am trying Insane now so will try again.
Settings->Connections->More Networks->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names-> There is nothing listed here
I will find out the GCI apn settings and add them and test it.
Well that didnt help, but I found another location that did.
Hangouts->Settings->SMS->Access Point Names-> had 2 options both of which I recognize as local phone companies, the GCI one was slightly different than they had listed on their website so I changed it to what it should be and successfully texted myself a picture.
Sent my wife one and will see if she gets it as well.
Edit: I haven't successfully sent her one yet but I think its just our crappy edge network at fault, I have successfully received one from her, so I think it is probably working as good as it is going to.
Is there a way to get it to work over wifi connections? we are both usually connected to wifi so that would be more convenient.

Hi mate ,
Check with your phone company which APN settings are the right ones , even if you use WIFI the data need to knows where to go.
SMS and MMS need the APN , apps like Whatspp do not they can go thru wifi
