What steps did you follow..
I have read tht you must temproot first and then permroot..
Also there is a very nice radio flashing guide floating around.. i have made a backup so i will copy paste it for you here..
1 download android sdk extract files to c direct to c drive rename androidsdk
2.open file click sdk manager let open then click accept let it install every thing
3. Open platform tools copy the 2 adb files as per previous post page 190 by tmh ( I think)to tools folder
4.open file downloaded from post 1st post extract to desktop easier to find
5. Open androidsdk tool folder then drag and drop radio.img in
6. click on start menu type cmd then click on the file
7.once open type cd/ press enter
8.type cd androidsdk/tools/ press enter
9.at this point make sure phone plugged in via usb and turned on as normal type in adb devices this will find your phone a show your serial number if this fails you will need usbdeview to uninstall all drivers to start again if it shows serial number carry on
10. Turn fastboot off on phone and power phone down.
11. Once powered down reboot phone while usb plugged in holding volume down and power button till white bootloader screen appears
12.use volume keys to navigate to fastboot( should be top of list ) press power button
13. Back on pc in cmd it should still read c:\androidsdk\tools> (if not repeat steps 6-8) once at this point type fastboot flash radio radio.img press enter wait till it flashed the c:\androidsdk\tools> will be back waiting for next command
14.type fastboot reboot press enter your phone should reboot at this point once rebooted you can check it flashed in settings>about phone

NOOOOOOO please do not post **** like that if you don't no what the difference between Radio S-Off and Engineering S-Off. I just found out as did many other people that there is a big differnence. I had Eng S-Off and not Radio S-Off and loaded LeeDrOiD 1.3 (containing HTC's new security "feautured" 1.72.405.3 ROM). Now I am permanently locked out from doing a Radio S-off and I cannot get R/W access to the system folder. Who knows what else root aceess is limited. PLEASE EVERYONE LOAD RADIO S-OFF. To make sure it's active look for more info or system info on the bootloader after installing clockwork recovery (hold volume down when powering on phone). It must say CID:111111. You don't want to see CID-VODAP021 or CID-HTC__001 or anything else. Anything then other than 111111 means radio is S-On!!

LOL... my bad!! As you say it in the first line of your post .. you just found out yourself!!

Probs with getting into recovery menu

Hey XDA
Im having a little problem with my Magic.
I would like to flash a new ROM, but i cant get into the recovery menu.
Here is what i do:
I have installed the latest version of SDK on my computer.
I then connect my Magic with the cable, and when Vista comes up with the note saying that want to install the software i tell it to use the drivers that are in the SDK/usb_driver/x86 folder.
I then turn off the phone, and press and hold back button + power button until the phone shows the "3 androids on skateboard" menu.
Then on my computer in the cmd prompt i write: fastboot boot recovery.img, and the the cmd prompt says: <waiting for device> and the nothing else happens, the recovery image dosn't show up on the phone either.
I have checked with adb devices that my phone is connected.
Are there anyone that can help me with this problem because its beginning to annoy me alot, i would like to root my phone and flash another ROM.
So any help would be much appreciated.
Per
Just to check, you made sure you have a spl that's rootable?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019
And fallowed this before fastboot.
First, setting up your PC (I'm going to assume you're using windows for this) to work with Android in a debugging enviroment.
1. Get the latest Android SDK from here (http://developer.android.com/sdk/1.5_r2/index.html) and unzip it into a convienent directory (most people use C:\Android\, so I suggest you do the same). The result should be something along the lines of C:\Android\android-sdk-windows-1.5_r2\.
2. Set up your phone to work with debugging drivers. The method of doing so can be found here (http://developer.android.com/guide/...ing/device.html) in the "Setting up a Device for Development" section, steps 2 and 3. To test that it works properly, open up a command prompt and navigate to the tools directory (C:\Android\android-sdk-windows-1.5_r2\tools). Type into the prompt:
Code:
adb devices
If it returns your device and serial number, then you're all set.
3. Lastly, grab fastboot.exe from here (http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html) and place it in the tools directory of the sdk.
Next up, rooting.

Thx for the answer, but there is a problem with one of the links you posted, the last one of them (http://developer.android.com/guide/...ing/device.html). it dosn't work.
But you also write something about the SPL, i dont know if i have the right SPL, how can I see if its the right one i have? I've tried reading the link about the SPL, but my problem is that i cant even get into the recovery menu, so i cant flash a new SPL either, or am i wrong?
Please help me
Per
To check your SPL just boot up fastboot (back + power) then just look at the top and see what it says. Then check on the first link I posted and see if your SPL is rootable or not.
Don't know why the last link didn't post proper Here it is.

Damn, thats a load of ..... (sorry).
I have just got my phone back from the repair shop because the camera restarted the phone everytime i tried to use it. Before i sent it to repair i had no problem rooting it or getting in the recovery menu.
But can you tell what the problem is? is it because the recovery image dosn't work with my SPl and the recovery image guys need to "crack" my SPL first or what?

Here you go read This on the SPL. By the way which phone do you have? Is it a Rogers Magic? Just good to know what's not rootable, you should post your phone details in that thread if it's something not listed on the first page.

How to root (& unroot) a South African HTC Dream (MTN). [Now with froyo!]

(this comes from my post in the 'Rogers, heres your real root' thread, using a combination of Haykuro's and Lunatik78's methods)
EDIT! now with Froyo (Android 2.2), I've tried Chromatic 4.2, 4.3 & 4.4 (based on Cyanogen 6 RC3), BiffMod, AOSP 2.2 OTA, Yoshi 1.8 pancake and they all work - 12 Jan 2011
EDIT: newer radio works great too - now using 2.22.28.25 and H-Boot 1.33.0013d - follow ezterry's thread after rooting and getting your new ROM running - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139
*Please reply to this thread with feedback if you've used this method! (And please let me know if a link is broken!)
I've just re-rooted my South Africa HTC Dream and thought I'd share my successful method, it's actually pretty easy. Please note however, that the steps in this method must be followed EXACTLY otherwise will not be successful.
BTW the HTC Dream's were only released by MTN but as the phone is not carrier specific Vodacom, Cell-C & Virgin-Mobile will work fine too.
To unroot your phone and go back to stock, PM me for the link for the RUU
This will very likely work on the Rogers Dream as that is what the original how-to was based on, if someone tries it, please let me know so I can confirm it here!
Info from phone: (yours needs to be the same otherwise you might have problems, the important stuff is in bold - if you don't know how to find this info then STOP here, you need to search & read up some more to familiarize yourself before rooting the phone)

RADIO-3.22.20.17 (or 3.22.xx.xx)
Jun 2 2009,21:33:16
Firmware: 1.5
Baseband: 62.525.20.18U_3.22.20.17
Kernel: 2.6.27-9af60ed4 [email protected]
Build: 1.87.421.1 146733 CL#47295 release-keys
Start:
Make sure your battery is fully charged!
This requires that you use SPL 1.33.2005. (this is safe on all rogers (or MTN) dream devices)
You need the Android SDK - get it here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
install SPL 1.33.2005 using this method: One Click Root for Rogers, come back here at Step 11 (see link below this how to install flashrec on a stock phone)
(See: Method to install flashrec (any .apk) on your Dream: steps-to-install-and-uninstall-apk-file-on-android-g1-device)
Check if you have SPL 1.33.2005 (to check, boot into FASTBOOT by holding Send or Answer and then powering the phone on, it should say HBOOT-1.33.2005 near the top)
IF you have it then proceed:
download givemeroot.zip
(md5: 4a58a5702fdf899547011888d9cc066f .. sha1: 99e38e4f8798e952e67421a42e7b053ea70957b7)
Extract the contents of 'givemeroot.zip' to the "android-sdk-windows\tools" folder
IMPORTANT: You have to put the rom you'd like to install (I've used Cyanogen's and SuperD's) in the root of your phone's sd card (a freshly formatted FAT32 SD Card) as well as the rom image "signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip" (MD5 checksum b3e12b004c155761a10b1a848288e0c3 - 3rd option - from here: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html#s3)
(YOU WILL NOT HAVE A ROM INSTALLED AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE THE ROM IN ZIP FORMAT TO GET ONE)
For Dream/G1 users: power off, then hold "send or answer" button & press power button until you're into "FASTBOOT" mode, make sure the words HBOOT-1.33.2005... appear near the top of the phone's screen!
NOW:
Connect the phone via USB to the computer if it's not connected already, 'FASTBOOT' should change to 'FASTBOOT USB'
Open a command prompt (Start>Run: cmd), navigate to your "android-sdk-windows\tools" folder and type in the following (hit enter after each line and wait for the 'finished.total time: x.xxxs' before continuing!):
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
POWER OFF your phone (not reboot, power it off). (You can do this using the corresponding button [it says it on the screen] or just pull the battery [make sure everything is done flashing of course!])
(if you don't boot into recovery or accidentally rebooted, just pull the battery [if you notice top left it should read "FASTBOOT" or "FASTBOOT USB" if it's plugged in] you're not bricked, you just need to access recovery, not standard boot ;P)
Unplug your phone from the USB connection
Power up your phone in recovery mode (hold "home" + press Power). You should see that you are now in v1.4 + JF, that means you got the right recovery.
Select the option "Apply any zip from SD". Select "signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip", and then press the Home button to confirm. Do not reboot your phone yet!
Once that installation is complete, select the option "Apply any zip from SD" again. This time, select "update-cm-4.3.2.1-signed.zip" (or Cyanogen's current version, or your preferred ROM, I've used 1.6, 2.0, 2.1 & 2.2 ROMS, and then press the Home button to confirm.
When this is complete you'll see this:
Build: CyanogenMod v1.4 + JF
Formatting CACHE....
you may see "writing radio..." and boot back into the recovery but just reboot your phone by pressing Home & Back (or the trackball when "reboot" is highlighted). When you see "Formatting CACHE....", it's done, reboot now again (Home + Back).
The first proper boot of the OS may take a while (5+ minutes) then enjoy!
The newer radio image 2.22.23.02 works great on the SA HTC dream - I definately get better reception/more bars, I flashed it like this (In THIS order):
1) fastboot erase recovery
2) fastboot flash radio radio.img (get the img from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640535)
3) fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (used Recovery-RA-1.7.0 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669) (no need for the "Recovery-RA-1.7.0R" recovery image!)
Thank you, your guide work perfectly on my phone
No luck here, unfortunately. I'm stuck at the Recovery Flasher. I get Flash FAILED: Could not run command. Could be that your kernel was not patched yet as the newer Rogers one is running HBOOT-1.33.0010 (DREA21000). Oh well, I hope someone finds a way soon!
If your phone info is the same as listed in the first post then this will work (if followed correctly). Anything different may require a different method, I suggest searching for a solution.

so i have tried using the method above. i have successfully installed flashrec, backed up my existing image, no problem. so at this point i am supposed to shut down the phone and reboot into recovery, by holding the home button when powering up.
i tried using the reboot into recovery using the button provided in the new flash rec but nothing happens.
when i restart the phone while holding the home button, the HTC DREAM logo comes up and just freezes there. i have held the button for up to 5 minutes, nothing, i have also left the logo on for almost half an hour and nothng seems to happen.

Hi,
Thanks for great post on rooting your SA dream. I've been trying to root my phone for ages and have bricked it once.(But thank goodness leaf didnt released it and fixed it at no charge) So this time when I do it, I wanna be very sure.
When you say:
"You have to put the rom you'd like to install (I've used Cyanogen's and SuperD's) in the root of your phone's sd card "
Where do i get the cyanogen or SuperD's rom?
Scratch what i said before... i used Chromatic 4.5 rom and my build number is 1.86.421.1 146733 cl#47295 release-keys.
And it works perfect.
Thanks so much. Looks amazing
If you haven't figured it out already then you can get a ROM from one of the ROM threads in the G1 Android Developement section.
But perhaps it might be a good idea to do a little more reading as to why you would like to root and what ROM you would actually like on your phone, remember you can't just put any ROM on and may brick the phone again if you make a mistake.
You effin ROCK!!!!!
Worked like a charm!
Thanks Pardus! My HTC Dream is now like a new phone! I'm loving it!
Only problem I had was the rom image "signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip" from developer.htc.com/adp.html#s3 was either corrupt or just not dowloading properly. I got nervous at first when it didn't work but then googled the file name and downloaded another copy. I then mounted the SD card and placed the new file in the SD card root. It was all good from there.
Awesome!!
Excellent, doesn't it just give new life to our Dreams !
So far the 'Official AOSP 2.2 OTA test-3' ROM is working well for me as is the new radio and spl (2.22.28.25 and 1.33.0013d).

To get a Command prompt in Windows (XP) click: Start, then Run, then type "cmd" (without quotes) then click OK
If you have the SDK installed properly then you can try typing "fastboot getvar battery-voltage" (without quotes) and see what result you get.
Okay I figured out how to use cmd, I'm running windows 7, now I have one huge problem, I type in the full name and everything with the "fastboot flash radio radio.img" then it tells me error: cannot load 'radio.img' what do I do now? Since I know I can't skip this step

okay so I tried the "fastboot getvar battery-voltage" but all it says is "<waiting for device>" and nothing happens after that, so now what do I do?
Are the contents of "givemeroot.zip in your "android-sdk-windows\tools" folder?

Your phone has to be in fastboot mode: "For Dream/G1 users: power off, then hold "send or answer" button & press power button until you're into "FASTBOOT" mode, make sure the words HBOOT-1.33.2005... appear near the top of the phone's screen!" then connect it to USB...
yeah all of it is there. i dont know maybe im missing something?

No it wont. for some funky reason the radio and spl are linked to the board tmobile attempt to lock root out thats why the 1.2 kernel dose not support wifi teather apps, but i never tried any of of the hero teather apk or hacks.
But If you did every thing on the unlocker site for the fender/1.2 it should work>>>>
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot.nb0 (the 0 at the end of this line is a zero not an oh).
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
8. Once the phone starts to turn back on begin holding home and power (do not let go until you see the recovery mode) to boot into recovery mode.
9. You should end up in Amon Ra’s recovery mode. Now click on USB MS Toggle to turn on USB mounting. Plug in your USB cable and you should be able to access your memory card on your computer now.
10. Load the custom Fender ROM with Root added below onto your SD card (NOT in any folder, just on the SD card itself, do NOT extract it, leave it as a .zip)
Custom Fender w/ Root Access (THIS WORKS FOR THE MYTOUCH 1.2 OR FENDER).
Then click the button on your phone to disable USB MS Toggle and then click Apply .zip and select the Fender ROM .zip file we just put on the sd card.
Once it loads click reboot and you are all set!

[Q] 32A Magic no ROM or adb only fastboot

I’m having a problem using my phone, it seems to be semi-bricked.
Phone Details:
HTC Magic 32A – bought in Singapore (SingTel)
CID: HTC__023
HBOOT: 1.76.0008 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12.
RADIO-6.35.08.29
ROM: None (it was the latest CyanogenMod before it got erased)
Problem:
I tried flashing an incorrect RUU ROM on my phone and now it is stuck on the fastboot screen. Here is what I see when I press the power button:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0008 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29
Nov 3 2009, 15:56:29
RUU
At the bottom of the screen there is an image of a microchip and a red hexagon with two crosses.
When I plug-in the phone to my computer "RUU" changes to "RUU USB".
The only command I can run from the cmd prompt is "fastboot". ADB does not work and I don't seem to be able to browse to my sdcard.
What I Have Tried So Far:
1. I have tried using the “fastboot” command to boot and flash images, radios, and hboots. Nothing works. Either my cmd prompt hangs or it just says “FAILED”.
2. I downloaded a variety of stock RUU ROMs. The Singapore/Philippine ROMs seemed to work but then I got the error “BOOTLADER VERSION ERROR”. With all other ROMs I got the Customer ID error.
3. I tried to make a goldcard, but the steps to make one requiring being able to use the “adb” command and whenever I try this it says “daemon starting” and then “error: device not found” (or something similar). So, I am unable to find the CID of my SD card and I am unable to make a “goldcard”.
What I Want To Do:
My phone was originally rooted and working fine. I was going to sell it to someone so I thought I would flash the stock Sense UI. I guess along the way I made a mistake and now it seems to be bricked.
Please note that I have tried steps 1 to 3 and they do not work. I have gone through hundreds of threads on XDA and other forums. Clearly, I need to figure out a new way of doing this.
If you could help me get it working (in any way, shape or form) I would be helpful.

Code:
fastboot getvar version-main

More help :0)
I need the version to assess the state of the device.
I could be a simple reflash or some solution. But need to know what version you are on now.
You could spare yourself some time by doing a goldcard... just to be sure :0)

Ok thanks. Will give you the information when I can do it.
As I mentioned I am unsure how to do a goldcard if I cannot access the adb command. Basically, I can't do anything on my phone so how am I supposed to do the adb command?
Output of fastboot getvar version-main is
version-main: 3.04.401.2

That nr. is for HTC Austria test-signed.
You need Singapore/Phillippines WWE... but the newest for you cid nr is 3.03.707.5.
The only solution for your problem is to make a goldcard...
You can make a goldcard on ANY android phone... it will work for your phone also.
Thanks. But, I only have the one Android phone and my friends don't have any. Is there any way to make a goldcard without the Android phone?
Thanks
Nop... ANDROID as far as i know.
Thanks, but I guess my device is effectively bricked then
ok I managed to get a spare Android device and create a goldcard. Now what do I do?

Thanks for replying. Yes I do. Basically I created a goldcard using my GS2. I think I did everything that I had to do and the goldcard is visible on my computer so I think it works.
Basically, what steps do I have to take now?
Thanks

https://rapidshare.com/files/822530102/3.05.401.1_2.zip
1)rename the first file to sappimg.zip
2)put it on the goldcard
3)start in hboot mode (hold volume - together with power. '-' = volume decrease)
4)The device should restart into fastboot by it self, then power it down. If not just power it down when its done flashing.
5)rename the second file to sappimg.zip
6)put it on the goldcard (overwrite the old file if you have to)
7)start in hboot mode (hold volume - together with power. '-' = volume decrease)
8)Once done flashing, just restart into the system as a normal boot.
9) This should boot up a stock nordic rom. From there you should follow my root guide found in my signature. Do the custom recovery and eng spl.
10)come back here when all steps are done.
Post here if you get any problems.

Thanks for the response a few things:
Firstly, would you mind posting the file elsewhere (either MediaFire, Dropbox, or XDA-FTP itself). Unfortunately, rapidshare is blocked in Singapore.
Secondly, my phone only boots into the white fastboot screen, no matter what I press or do. I am not near my phone right now (and will test this method later), but I am fairly confident it won’t boot into hboot mode.
Again thanks for the response and hopefully it will work!
While we're on the same topic, I have the exact same problem as the OP, I've got no recovery and only have access to fastboot and hboot, problem is in the details:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT 1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO 6.35.10.18
and after running the getvar command as the expert suggested, my version is this:
2.10.531.4
I've tried what I assumed to be everything, I try pushing new radio and recovery images through fastboot, but it just won't work since I have the damn S-ON thing. And every SAPPIMG i find seems to just outright fail. Either it says incorrect Model ID, or in one case the damn thing flashed the locked hboot (put me in an even bigger pickle) and then hung at flashing the new radio. After 2 hours of it hanging, I gave up. Any advice would be appreciated, it's a friends phone and I said I'd do him a favor by rooting it (as I have rooted several android devices before) but I had no idea this device would be this difficult. I do have a goldcard.
I just tried the first sappimg file in your answer post, and it once again told me incorrect Model ID I don't know how much it matters, but I have the Mytouch 3G with the 3.5mm headphone jack.

[TUTORIAL] S-OFF guide for the complete Hero newbie...

I know its an old phone now, but my friend gave me this one to update, and it took a while for me to figure it out (used to my Evo 3D)... so ive put this together to help anyone wishing to S-OFF and can't work it out...
*** This is for GSM ONLY. Don't try it if your not sure or you'll brick your phone ***
This is what I did to get S-OFF...
Download Modaco's SPL HBoot 1.76.2007 and move it to your SD Card.
Download Clockworkmod Recovery 2.5.0.7, rename it to " recovery.img " and move it to your SD Card.
Download UniversalAndroot and move it to your SD Card.
Download ES File Explorer from the market (or any other file explorer).
Download Android Terminal Emulator from the market.
Enable installing from SD Card.. (Settings -> Applications -> tick Unknown Sources)
Open ES File Explorer and install Universal Androot.
Run it and press Root ...
It should say.. "Woot ! Your device is rooted !" ... close the program.
Open Android Terminal Emulator, and type " su " . Press enter.
Allow SuperUser access.
Type " flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img " and press enter.
It should just show a $ sign on a new line.
Power off your phone, remove and replace your battery and press and hold the Home button while pressing Power.
Your phone will load into Clockworkmod Recovery.
Select " install zip from sdcard ", then " choose zip from sdcard ". Select " update-hero-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip ". Press Back, Back and " reboot system now ".
Leave the phone to update HBoot. Do not interrupt it. (It restarts a few times)
Once done, the phone will restart and load as normal. Check the HBoot version by going into HBoot again (turn off, hold Volume - and Power) and it will hopefully show S-OFF, Hboot 1.76.2007. Job done.
Great guide, very simplistic and understandable. Thanks for this!

Yeah, it was nice, now I just need a reason to get S-OFF
Greeting...
Since i have Rooted my Hero and Flashing ROM, I never knew we can/must do S-OFF.
I'm a bit curious...is it necessary S-OFF for Hero? Any advantages?
From my little understanding it just to make control of our Hero's partition.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
S-On (Security-On) - is HTC's final resort for locking certain parts of the phone.
With S-On, the NAND section of your phone is locked and will fail to install software (and sometimes gain root access) depending on which ROM and phone your using. On some phones (not sure about Hero) you have to install a separate boot image with fastboot to let you install a custom, non HTC ROM, as it isn't from a signed HTC source.
With S-Off (Security-Off), you have full write access to all partitions on your phone, can gain permanent root, and all ROMs / boot / radios / recoverys should install successfully.
It doesn't appear that most Hero users need S-Off to allow you to install custom ROMs, but as I wanted to update the radio version, I chose to.
my hero has a hboot with s-on, and i can update radio images. If u want, i can upload the hboot i have..
I have given the Hero back to my friend now after updating...
Things have changed between the Hero and Evo 3D, but when I use something, I want to have full control on what I can do, not to be forced into not been able to do or access certain things.
Although, I can understand why HTC implemented Hboot Security, careless use with S-Off (flashing wrong images or disconnecting too early) - and you will brick your phone.
thanks this guide works perfect for my htc hero
I think I'm lucky, then...
I have a GSM HTC Hero bought back in 2009 and just recently heard this S-OFF issue.
Only recently I checked and my boot loader is in S-ON state.
However, I never had a problem installing whatever I wanted on it.
In fact, the phone was rooted a few days after buying it and it remains rooted as of now! I even had to re-install the official HTC 1.6 firmware because I installed a non-compatible recovery ROM...
I wonder if any of this has to do with the fact that I purchased it without a SIM lock...
Working great! Even if you are on 2.1 use the 1.5/1.6 option in androot. otherwise rooting will not work. (even though it says "Woot blabla")
Hi im getting flash_image not found in the emulator am stuck please help.
can i just ask what might be a noob question about this whole process...
once this phone is rooted and has s-off will this open it up to putting any network sim card in it? i do have an old htc hero but it's currently locked to t mobile uk as it's an old contract phone.
thanks in advance..
S-OFF allows you to execute certain commands and gain access to the NAND partition of the phone.
In order to unlock your phone, you must buy an unlock code somewhere (I've heard them being about 5€, correct me if I'm wrong).
Thanks for the explanation. Appreciated.
To be honest I'm a bit surprised that there's not a way to remove the sim lock through another method. Having played around with unlocking my sensation and flashing cyanogenmod it just seems like there's nothing you can't do with these phones these days..!
Thanks again..

So was I when I had to unlock my first LG years ago.
"unlocking by unlock codes is the safe way to unlock.." source
There are many topics about unlocking a T-Mobile Hero for free, but with no success. However I only found a topic about unlocking an Orange one.
Can I S-OFF using this if i rooted installed CWM and flashed CM9 already ?
I'm having the 'flash_image not found' problem too.

I tried it again, but still S-ON?
I put hboot image on sd card, removed battery, put it back, went into recovery RA1.7xx, flashed hboot zip file.
It did few things and asked me to confirm it with "HOME + BACK" button, which I did, then again it did few things and then booted into recovery, showed as if its finished and showed me a last command Formatting Cache.... though it was stuck there for atleast 2 min so switched off the phone, went back in bootloader, it still showed S-ON?
I downloaded file from modaco as well, both files are same, modaco's and the one mentioned above... I checked MD5.
What am I doing wrong?
