Hey Guys,
I'm a Canadian Rogers phone user, and I've just flashed my phone's rom out for a new one, and now, whenever I receive an sms, it's about 5 hours behind. Through my snooping around, I've found that this is a common problem with Rogers and unofficial roms. I found a couple solutions, but they both apply to WM6.1, and do not work for my phone which is WM6.5.
I'm looking for the registry entry that I can switch, such as "TrustTimeZoneField" or "RecvTimeStamp" so that my phone won't trust the time given but rogers, and will instead use the phone time.
Anyone know where that registry entry would be, or possibly where I could create a new one that would?
Thanks
reg entry to use
this worked for me
TrustTimeZoneField
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\
Add a dword key "TrustTimeZoneField" and give it a dword value of 0
I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to work.
Are you using WM6.5?
yes
yeah using 6.5 energy rom
I think I'll try a different rom, and then try what you did again. I can't stand how all the text messages get all out of order.
Thanks for replying.

I found that entry a few days ago. I tried it, but nothing happens.
What do you can see/do in engeneering mode?
Just tried it. It opened a tabbed dialog that shows all the info the phone is getting from the cellular network.
Tower number, GPRS settings and a lot of stuff I know nothing about. Nice diagnostic tool.
P.S.
funnysurf, did you dial the number correctly? For me it opened the second I entered the last *. (on Jamin, ROM 2.13.9.123)
It works... Latest Dopod ROM.
HTC Engineering Mode
I've been hunting for a way to see this info. I design cellular networks and this stuff is my second language. However, I don't see anything in any fields of GSM Test Mode. They start with "N/A" then immediately go blank. I've done the registry setting but no change. When I do the '*#'-thing, I get nada. Got any clues?
FYI- I found a program called NiceTrack that shows only some of this info, so I know it's in there somewhere, but I need to see more.
jott2me, post your ROM version. On the Dopod's 2.15 it works.
GSM Test Mode
The key word is “built in” If you have a little program GSM TestMode.exe in your windows directory, this registry tweak makes this program visible and executable. Plus don’t forget to soft reset your device in order for registry modification to take effect.
By the way, if you use this data a lot, you can make a shortcut to this utility as to any executable. No need to dial the *# a hundred times. Or just add it to your speed dial…
You guys sure respond fast! Wow! And thanks!
JWalker, here's my info:
ROM version: 1.8.10.2 WWE
ROM date: 12/10/05
Radio version: 01.09.10
Protocol version: 4.0.13.20
ExtROM version: 1.8.10.104
(I've only had this about a month so I'm leary of changing ROM versions.)
aleksandr,
I'm running Spb's Today screen (it's nice) and I've got an icon that puts me right into GSMTestMode.exe when the reg tweak is set to 1. I've reset several times still no luck seeing info. I made a contact with the '*#' stuff but when I dial it, I get, "The number you have dialed..." message.
Am I missing something?
Thanks for your help.
GSM menu
How did you reset your device, programmatic soft reset or with your stylus? Soft reset with stylus will erase registry modifications without saving them. Sorry, don't mean to use "dummy" talk, just want to make sure all proper steps are followed to eliminate all possible reasons in order to find the solution. Another reason for this issue could be in rom, but wait for J. Walker to respond. I'm in the office right now and don't have emulators here to experiment with your rom version. In the mean time make sure you’ve made all necessary registry changes in right registry entries, and soft reset using program, something like Nice start or shut down XP or SPB Pocket Plus reset function.
I've been using TRE to edit the registry then resetting it using the stylus and the hole on the right side. Every reg change I've made shows up after a reset as changed. I don't know of another way to soft reset it. Even when I've changed it back to 0 to try using JUST the GSM Test Mode.exe, it won't work. That's proof that the registry does see the changes (I think).
(... and I'm the newbie here so "dummy" talk is A-Okey doke w/ me.)
Guess, it is a good idea to change to 2.x ROM. The only thing I know that it works fine with my original S200 with Dopod's 2.15.13.27 ROM. It much morу stable and fast, so you will got the better feeling
Hi,
on Vodafone ROM 2.15.3.26 GER it does not work. I create an Link to \Windows\GSMTestMode.exe and do it that way
I tried creating the link to GSMTest but that still didn't work. I think I'm going to have to change ROMs. I'm very reluctant because I don't know where or how to get and install one. I've seen that this site is full of talk about ROM upgrades, but I haven't seen one that tells me how to do it.
The thing is that what I'm really really after is not just the GSMTest screen so it may or may not even involve a new ROM. What I really want is to learn where the info is hiding and how to display it and make some of it usable in graphical format (something like "NiceTrack" does but with all the info not just a couple fields). It's more of a programming thing. So if anyone knows where this info is stashed and how to read it, I'd go that direction. I thought that GSMTest would be a quick & easy step toward what I'm after.
any change someone could add the gsm test program. I did found the engineering key in the registry, but no program in the windows directory and entering the code on the phonedial pad didn't work as well.
i'm running tuma 1.3 wm5 rom on a qtec 9090
If you want a good guide to changing roms see this post

I'm sorry, but I have to ask this question. After a year or so of using these amazing little hacks I've always wondered one thing. . . How in the HELL do you folks figure out these things exist?!

My thoughts exactly... I discovered this site 2 years ago when I had the Xda2 and I'm still amazed at the information that I can dig up here. Guess some of us have the privelege of playing with our gadgets more than others...
i had to go into the props of the file and change it from hide. i also had to use resco and searched for the file name and changed it there. from there i copied the file and choose poaste shortcut to the windows\start menu\programs
Whenever I get a next text message, I noticed that the messages have a time stamp way way off from the current time. How can that be if the time of the phone is right?
Have you tried this fix?
1) Goto HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/PhoneSetting
2) Add DWORD Value 'TrustTimeZoneField'
3) Set value = 0
4) Soft Reset
I had a similar issue where all the Delivery Reports from OrangeUK (sent from "System Administrator") came up before all the other messages regardless of when they were received.
Maybe something for me to try.
Can't find it
Where is that file at? Or it a registry?
I looked on the explorer on the HD but so many folders I haven't found it. Can you elaborate more?

hi stzd8,
it's the registry
HKLM is short hand for Hkey local machine
How do I get to the registry?
I apologize for asking these type of 'questions' but how do I get to the registry?
I can only see files. Do you access the registry from the connected PC or on the phone itself. So this is the right way to fix the timestamp?
thanks
Edited the registry 'trustedtimezone' didn't work
The registry thing didn't work, any other ideas?
the tweak WORKED for me.
Thanks alot!
I'm having this same problem running duttys 6.5 r8 and the reg edit did not work. Is there any other solution?

Did you change correct registry key? Did you soft reset afterwards?
EDIT
This fix may not work on different rom version, i.e. wm6.1 & wm6.5 as well as different manila versions. Try asking question in relevant rom thread and you may get a quicker response to your query
Hi,
My X1i is displaying the incorrect time stamp when receiving SMS. It has only started doing this in the last week for some reason. I have not installed anything or made any changes to my phone. It's really frustrating. I do not have TF3D installed or anything to that nature and I'm using R2A0007.
I have seen this fix: Incorrect SMS Time - As provided by Touch-Guy..
Create DWORD key TrustTimeZoneField and set the value to 0 under
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting
But I do not know how to get to it. Where do you fine HKLM and I do not understand how to create a DWORD...
Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks!
had the same problem
download and install total commander on your device and follow gogadget's instruction on this thread.
worked perfectly fine for me, hope this helps.
Hi Guys,
I've been doing a bit of research about removing the T-Mobile (or any) operator name from my handset/homescreen etc..and have found a number of different apps that can do this. For example Personalizer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359563
which seems to work well exept that it seems to be draining my battery heavily as I beleive that it is an 'always-on' app.
Therefore I've removed it and am looking to do a similar thing via a reg-tweak so as not to need anything running in the background. Before I get flamed for posting an often asked question, I have searched a few other threads for other handsets that have similar registry files as the HD2 and have found some similarites but nothing has worked yet:
http://forum.treonauts.com/palm-smartphones/treo-750/8695-treo-750-registry-tricks-tips-2.html
I've found the CarrierName string in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL folder but altering it with the mobile network code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code), doesn't seem to have any effect.
I'm on T-Mobile UK and I beleive my network code is 23034 but I just need to know where to use it and/or if the function is available to me with this phone yet? If anyone can shed any light and or knows a way of doing it without installing any potentially battery draining software apps, it would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year!!

Personalizer only runs at startup and changes one reg key to display your text.

I found my battery draining a lot quicker with it installed. So you use it yourself and haven't had any problems? Either way, if there was just a reg-tweak I could do myself without installing anything, that's what I'm looking for.
Thanks

I have used it before and have not noticed a differnce in battery life.
The REG key it changes every startup is:
HKLM\System\State\Phone\"Current Operator Name"
Change it to whatever you like but be aware it changes back every soft reset, hense why personalizer runs at every startup.

I use the awesome tweak from MysticGenius (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577928) and it works fine for me.
Oh and your carrier string value should be 23430 , have no idea how to get rid of the 3G infront of the Scuderia Ferrari though

Yes 23430, I had it right but wrote it wrong I tried MysticGenius's tweak already but couldn't find the 'OperatorNames' file. I tried altering CarrierName and also tried making my own string but it made no difference. What did you change xavierdemon?
Thanks
All I have in the Reg is:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
And inside that I have a string value "23415"="Scuderia Ferrari" that's all. Obviously for you it would be "23430"="Whatever text you want"
HTH
No Joy
Ok Xavier,
I did that but no luck unfortunately. I created an OperatorNames file because it didn't exist in the RIL folder and put:
''23430''=''My Message''
as the string, but there was no change at all. I rebooted and tried again but still no difference. Any suggestions?
Thanks
I don't know what to suggest except maybe leaving a message on MysticGenius' tweak post and see if he knows why it's not working for you. Or see if someone can build a CAB for you to input the reg entires, I did try to have a go myself at making the CAB but it's not working at all.
I recently got a HD2 and it had the newest 2.13 stock rom which wasn't bad and the mms worked fantastically. well i got into the custom/cooked roms deal and recently my mms has crapped out on me. then i got it working but it came in thumbnail size. after about 2 days of trying so many things finally figured something out. Some changes in the registry and All said and done I FINALLY got it working. I tried size increases, docfix cab file, basically you name it, i tried it. but these got it working. I did the registry change and it worked great credited to technology1. Remember this for anybody using the HD2 on TMOUS.
I have to attach a text file with the info since i am still new user.
Just go into the registry and change the info. I use PHM registry editor and its great.
Hopefully this works for everybody and again credit to tehnology1 on this info.
Hope someone could flip this into a cab. I'd love to try it out. I don't know how to use the regedit on the phone.
Its just like file explorer on a PC, except when you click on the file it shows a value (ex; 1s and 0's) and you enter your own value. Very simple to use.
Still no luck!
