I know this is an Aria forum, but I have a tablet question. Are there any Aria/Liberty/Gratis/Intruder users in this forum that also use Android tablets? We are considering gifting one and wonder how they perform in terms of reliability. A friend has the Coby one and gets force closes often and AppsLib sucks.
My last Intruder was a Grumman A-6E.
Funny... I was searching on ebay for one of those a minute ago. I believe they operate reliably. But I would deffinitely go with one that runs Froyo, less chances of finding bugs.
I am using my Gtab to send tis, as my Aria Tethers me to a connection here in the mountains of the Poconos. Its ony at EDGE speeds, but it works for now. I love my GTAB. The hardware is impressive, save one item. Its downfall is the LCD screen. It has bad viewing angles in Portrait mode. Other than that, I have since turned my laptop on twice in the last two weeks since I got the Tablet.

This is exactly why I went with the gTab. Plus the cpu makes the gTab a device that will be around for a while longer than most portable devices running Android

What did you guys pay for your G-Tabs? $400? Did you get it locally or from Amazon?
I'm pretty interested in it, but with all the newly-announced tablets at CES, I'm wondering if I should hold off.
I'm going to wait for a suitable htc tablet, like the so called "htc scribe"
I like htc

I did get it locally, but I only paid 319.99. Heh, I was able to negotiate the sears rep at the store down from 400 by telling him I was just going to buy it online and pick it up since I could get it for 380. He then did some numbers thing and viola! It was on m receipt for 320

i would get the Nook Color, but i'd like to have camera and GPS for road trips. would be nice to play around with Google Maps and navigation on a tablet.
I was all set to buy a Nook Color for rooting, then a friend on another forum told me that he had returned his because the edges of the screen were not sensitive to touch at all. That worries me... you had any issues with that anup?
Sorry for the late reply... I don't have problems at all with touchscreen unitl my hands get sweaty (I know it's gross). When that happens the screen becomes unresponsive and I have to lock and unlock the screen. Then it's all better!
I ended up getting a Nook color yesterday. Had it rooted within 30 minutes. I'm using Zeam as my launcher and I really like it. This Nook has to be the best Android tab for the money if you ask me.

Funny, I just got the new market pushed to my phone today as well. Running a Desire Z on ATT with CM 7.1... Weird thing is, I have never gotten any market updates in the past...
my market updated after the first launch of the app when i flashed the rooted 2.3 release today.
Market now looks suspiciously similar to a windoz mobile layout ..
hmmmm
I'm honestly not a fan of the new Market. I find that the application is slow/heavy to use... The other one I good just blaze through this one seems like I have to wait.

Agreed. Plus on other devices like the Nook Color (Encore) it has caused all kinds of problem getting access to certain applications. Device restrictions based on requirements has really sucked.
It's just buggy. I updated an app this morning and it still says update, and sometimes the update button doesn't show up at all.
The updated market needs an update.

This one seems just as quick to me. The first boot takes a bit but its good after the first launch.
I didn't like the market the first time I got but now its grown on me. I thought it was so slow.
Now I cant live without it.
You'll all get use to it, don't worry.
Dave
I'm just using it cause I don't have a choice. My alternative at the moment is to push my app from the online store instead.
Hopefully there will be an other update shortly to address the latency issues and FC that are still quite frequent with it.
Got it pushed to me weeks ago. HATED it at first but have forced myself to like it since were not gonna have any choice but to use it. One thing that is a huge new improvement, is the "new" top free and paid. Cause as we all know the top lists never ever change and are always gonna have facebook google maps and gmail on top. With the "new" sections, you get to see popular apps that now don't have to have over 50000000 downloads to get some exposure

And having a working Bookmark Sync with Chrome for desktop...
Selling it. trully something I couldn't done with HC as I was wating for ICS release to check it out by myself before I sell it.
Use a web browser without wanting to punch my tablet for loading pages so slowly.
Chrome is pretty epic and browsing is a hell of a lot smoother. I really like the landscape layout of chrome and how similar it is to the desktop version.

Need to buy a notebook for studying, the tablet was just a waste of time.
Sending it back to Asus on an RMA. I'm one of the poor fools that had their tablet go into an endless loop when I tried to bring it back from sleep after the ICS update. When I get it back I'm going to ebay it and try another brand. Two RMAs within a 6 month period (one for a dead power button, now this) has convinced me to wait for the iPad 3. I'm sure it's just the luck of the draw but every Apple product I have ever purchased has worked perfectly - the build quality of the Transformer, at least in my case, has soured me on messing with Asus any more.
finally able to actually use the browser, and now i have chrome as a bonus.
honestly, i love it even more with a couple minor exceptions. still can't play high profile 720p mkvs, and none of my custom icon/shortcut apps are working properly.
You actually thought your transformer was going to replace a laptop? I find it ironic how there were all these people kicking & screaming like spoiled little brats wanting ICS. Now it seems that every post someone is complaining about ICS.
Is ICS prefect probably not, will it ever be? Hell no, what is perfect in this world.
I think there are a couple if big improvements. File Explorer is much improved. Also now there is a task manager widget built in that can be put on your desktop.
Now I still can't do a search on XDA with the stock browser.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of computer users could easily replace their desktop or laptop with a tablet. Unless you are using some specialized, high-end software, tablets can perform most tasks.
It's been a year since I've needed my laptop and I can use my tablets for both work and play.

so i've had the lapdock for a while, great accessory for the atrix.
i've recently been wanting to get a tablet. so i figure if i get the tablet, then i really wouldn't have any use for the lapdock. i've been looking into getting a nook color or something that simple. i wouldn't use the tablet for much, just like i currently don't use the lapdock for much. just internet browsing, videos, and typing up document on occasion.
so, i ask you all, would you prefer a tablet... or the lapdock for our phones?
thanks, all.
Very good question. I guess it would depend on the person and situations they would need either device for. I ended up getting a tablet (ipad2). Is the lap dock smooth and lag free? Never used one.

I'm not going to have the Atrix for as long as I would have the iPad. Me and my wife use it everyday. Everything we would do on the laptop we do on the ipad, minus word documents and typing because its just silly typing papers on the iPad. So Netflix, web browsing, catching up on Conan, Amazon, just normal stuff. And depending on the tablet, it would see more software support/ be supported for longer.

Well, I do use my lapdock for "real" work. Various development in mainly C, some assembly, C# and C++.
Most is simply vpn'd back to the office. 80% of my actual work is text based development, and that I do with a terminal ssh'd home.
For the small amount of stuff that requires me to use a windoes system, I can RDE back in. Not great, but not nearly as bad as one might suspect.
Occasionally I actually do local coding. But in this case I am really just editing and using gcc as a syntax checker.
To be honest, the biggest issue I have is the STUPID KEYBOARD LAYOUT (I hope moto is reading). There was plenty of room to have a standard'iish layout.
If one does not expect to do a lot of typing though, I would think a "paddock" would be a good idea for Moto.
to be honest, I've got lapdock and I have a XOOM2 for a test.
Iwont chane my Lapdock to any talbet. why?
after mod I have a fully Ubuntu, so why I have to change? so, if you wanna to get fully useable OS than I recommend to you Lapdock. If you wanna to see how it works, please visit my youtube profile
Lapdock is way too slow for anything.
Maybe after the ICS update it might be worth a look, however I would go for a tablet with a stand such as the archos g9 and a bt keyboard for productivity.
The lapdock is a great piece of hardware that's simply no utilized well enough to be worth it.
I agree completely with alexsupreme. Lapdock is just too slow to be usable. Mine was new from AT&T in December and I bet I've used it all of 2 hours. My tablet on the other hand has many, many hours of use logged since Christmas.
$53 for the lapdock at the time sounded good, but in retrospect that was still more than it's worth.

Ouch! That's like an icey-hot cold pack: so cold, and yet it burns.
I bought an iconia a500, and it has almost completely displaced my laptop. Only serious typing, graphics editing are still done on my laptop (and the pr0ns work better when I don't have to hold the screen up). I was looking at getting a lapdock next time they were on sale, but your scathing analysis is probably correct.
Actually, the new webtop 3.0 shows quite a bit of promise.
Sure it's not touch operational but you get a smooth speedy interface and access to tablet apps and browser.
The lapdock might actually be useful, especially with the variety of office apps and nice tablet games and emulators that might just be more playable with a keyboard and a mouse

Yikes! Listen:
I have an HTC Desire, an HTC Desire HD, a Sony Tablet S 32GB, and an ASUS Transformer TF101 32GB (all that Android junk, you know.)
Yeah, I also have a lot of other stuff, including an iPad2 (wife's gadget), and a couple of unlocked iPhones. Not bragging, no. Just mentioning so that you'll get the complete picture here.
This Kindle Fire thing is an incredible deal for $200! (The Amazon refurb promo for $150 last week was just CRAZY.) It's great fun! Root= super easy, and with Paul Obrien's MoDaCo ROM right now: The graphics are seriously sharp and simply excellent, the network access is stupid fast, and I am having a ball with it.
There are a couple of limitations, no bluetooth and no microphone. But for watching downloaded movies and playing games with the kids n stuff, XLNT!
Enough?

That's because it probably is. The 'auto-update' glitch bricked a ton of KFs. (Like this: Unzip the Amazon box, unwrap the cellophane, turn the puppy on, then watch it happily hang on auto-update= el Bricko bumstick.)
Unhappy customers sent them back in droves. Amazon techs simply updated via mini-usb connector, (takes 20 seconds) then shipped them back out as refurbs.
Brand new, and a fantastic deal!
Oh yeah, they also have to dump all of their inventory to get ready for the KF2.

Sort of. HK rumours last week, legal dept. staff Inter-consult w/ Foxconn & Cather, (the blank & MB manufacturers) say: 9.7", active bezel (gorilla & long range wifi?), quad-core sized HS, slim over-sized custom battery, with SD slot and side mount volume control holes. (In HK, parts-is-parts, if you catch my drift.) Taiwan has had the finished item running for quite a while, doing Amazonia software polish atm. Probably trying to keep it from getting rooted the very first day of release.
Anyway, "...goes gold in about 6-8 weeks." means that I am certainly not holding my breath waiting for it. No more update glitches this time I'm sure.
Oh, the previously mentioned $139 deal went history about 8 days ago, and I do wish I had gotten a couple more of them. The kids pass this thing around in the car like a box of Smarties. Industrial strength, even the 3 yr old gets her mitts on it.

Hey folks! After searching I found nothing, so here we go!
I am still considering buying a nexus 7, but something has been prying on my mind: when Google removed the universal search from the galaxy nexus, did they also remove it from the nexus 7? I had a galaxy tab 2 that Samsung did this to, and was kinda a bummer since I really like the feature! So does the nexus 7 have universal (I.e. being able to search on-device as well as internet) search?

Nope, it's here, at least in cm10 that is. Nice to see you here ijimaniac . Buy this tablet, you won't regret it. My TF has become a glorified gaming console since I got this (as I don't have enough space on the N7 to keep a ton of games), and although I had to originally RMA it (and got a b60 while before I had a b70, go figure) due to light bleed, this tab is amazing, and I am normally pretty judicial when it comes to devices.
I can confirm that my stock 4.1.1 Nexus 7 does indeed have universal search functioning properly.
It sure does, it works differently though. It shows your Apps, then you swipe across and it shows you web results, then another swipe will bring up, for example, videos etc. So it doesn't show them all at the same time.
It still shows contacts and things from other apps which is the most useful part.

Happy to help, the one day I decide to peruse the N7 q/a (SUPER bored this Saturday and just crashing), and I found you. Good luck with the nexus, you won't regret it,
If you are still deliberating I cN recent getting one. Sooooooo good in every way. hardware is very impressive. Build quality, and and user experience. I usually root and unlock every android device I get as I'm used to the rom being uncomfortably laggy. this usually results in life long rom flashing back and forth from different roms never really feeling happy.
This just isn't the case with theN7 the rom is smooth fast and responsive even when hammering several big operations.
Pretty much what in getting at is that you need to go buy one if you haven't already
