[Q] problem in internet sharing - P3400 General

can any one tell me how to connect internet(DSL) from PC to htc p3400 plzzz.?

first make sure you are connected to the net from your PC
then connect your phone to your PC via USB or bluetooth
after connecting, go to mobile device settings>connection settings on the windows mobile device center on your PC
in the pop up that appears select all the option boxes
in "allow connections to one of the following" select "bluetooth"
in "this computer is connected to" select "the internet"
and voila!! you're done...

but i want to connect on the xp where i can get windows mobile device center..plzz give me step step guide
thank you

the solution i posted before was for Windows Vista or 7
for XP you have to download and install Active Sync...you can get that off Microsoft's site...or try here
after that you'll have to go through the settings to find out more...or try searching it on XDA (using the search button on top)
wish i could help more but i've got Windows 7 and no access to XP...

How to synchronise via bluetooth using activesync 4.1?

Good morning
Can someone please tell me how to synchronise XDA Exec via bluetooth using Activesync 4.1. I do not have Win XP SP2 installed and do not want to install it (If I can help it!!!!!!). I have spent sometime trying to work it out but have not had any luck.
A detailed post will be very much appreciated.[/b]
I take it no one knows or no one syncs their Exec via bluetooth!!!!!! Anyway, if I have worked it out, if someone would like to know please do not hesitate to ask.
Synchronising via bluetooth is a breeze, its beautiful. Cuz when u sync via cable your machine starts charging your device too and if I am not mistaken, keep on charging and taking it off witout full charge your battery gets damaged. Please correct me if I am wrong.
But when u sync via bluetooth u dont have to worry about the battery getting damaged and dont have to worry about those messy cable(s).
Setup Instructions
Step 1:
- Go to BT Settings on PC and enable "New Incoming Connection"
- On my PC it opens up "COM3"
Step 2:
- Open up Activesync in PC
- Go "File" -> "Connection Settings"
- Enable "Allow connection settings to one of the following:"
- Select same COM port as enabled in Step 1
Step 3:
- ON PPC, go "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Connections" -> "Bluetooth" -> "Devices"
- Select "New Partnership"
- Your PPC will start scanning for new devices...
Step 4
- On your PC a window will pop up asking you to input a PIN
- I find I have to click the BT icon in my PC taskbar to make the window appear, but that's just me
- Choose any 4-digit combination
Step 5
- On your PPC, you will then get a request to enter the PIN you used for the PC
- Once entered, the "Partnership Settings" window opens on your PPC
- It displays "Activesync" selected
- Choose "Save" (bottom right) and you're done!
To initiate a BT Activesync:
- On PPC, go to "Activesync" -> "Menu" -> "Connect via Bluetooth"
BT works at about 1Mb/sec, as opposed to USB at 11Mb/sec, so you lose on speed, but I haven't really noticed much difference, myself.
Also, I don't have BT Activesync set up at the mo, and haven't set it up in a while, so may have missed a thing or two - but with this guide and a little common sense (and Google) you should be right.
Many thanks for all your help. I managed it few days back. It was near enough the same procedure.
Anyway thanx for all your help.
Currently I am working on VPN and Terminal Service Client. I can do everything inside my local area network, but when I am using WiFi hotspot, Dial Up and GPRS I cannot connect to my work network. There is allot about it in this forum but very little seems to work.
Callyou.
nice one
Good, clear instructions. For some reason I couldn't get the activesync service available on the BT connection, but followed the above and it appeared.
Many thanks. This has solved my USB connection issue after a reflash...

I'd love to be able to sync via bluetooth, but activesync doesn't appear as an option. Only Hands free and dial up networking.
Have i missed something? Why is this such a complicated thing to achieve? It's ridiculous!!!
Thanks, Ash
I have different steps done but it's quite stable and high repeatability.
1: PC site, enable bluetooth and check "discoverable".
2: PPC site, open ActiveSync and click "Connect via bluetooth", if it's the first time to establish the connection, PPC will ask "there is no available Activesync port defined, would you like to define..." something like that.
3: Choose "Yes" of course, the the common bluetooth setting "partner" tab will appear, click "new devices".
4: Once found the PC, PC site will show the message to complete the pairing process.
5: Once paired, PC site will have another message showing that PPC is goting to connect through the Activesync port, then click on the pop-up message at the right-bottom corner, then choose "always allow the connection" in the newer pop-up menu.
6: Wait for PPC site to finish(taking quite long time like freeze), then there are few ports available, then check the "ActiveSyne" and complete the setup. If there is only "Serial" available instead of "ActiveSync", click "Refresh" button and repeat the step 5~6.
BTW. My PC is WinXP Professional SP2, unbranded BT sticker with Widcomm 1.4.2 Driver. PPC is Orange UK 1.30.90 WWE Version.
is this procedure the same with sharing the pc's internet connection via bluetooth to the xda exec?

Problem with PC sync

So when I hook my HD2 up to my PC (Windows XP) via USB I select on the screen to active sync but the Windows active sync program on my PC doesn't connect with the device. Instead my PC keeps insisting that the phone is a modem and tries to use it, it installs it as a modem. I can use the phone fine as a storage device, but I cannot get it to sync.
It did it the first time, but not again after that.
To try and remedy the problem I have uninstalled the driver Windows installed then tried reconnecting the phone...but every time it connects as a modem and its getting annoying.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
No option on your HD2 when connecting to the PC?
Try this:
Open Start -- Settings -- All Settings -- Connections -- USB to PC.
In here you can change it to what you like as default, but there is a tick box at the bottom which stops it being shown etc.
Thanks. In my post I did say that I "select on the screen to active sync", however I didn't specify that it was on the phone that i did this. The pop-up screen you spoke of does appear and I do select the correct option.
Does having outlook help? lol. Don't say yes because then I will look like a total douche. haha. But I did sync once with it like I said, but then my PC decided to hate me.
Active sync problems
I found that ActiveSync behaved different after I upgraded to 1.48 from 1.43 using the ROM update on the HTC website.
Maybe this will help you too:
Go to Settings -> Other (Misc. settings) -> USB to PC
Select "ActiveSync"
There is a checkbox under it "Enable faster data synchronization"
If it is on try deselecting it, as I said with 1.43 I had to disable this, but with 1.48 I had to enable it.
dude
have you xp still or did you upgrade? did you dl the latest active sync from microsoft?
Thanks y'all. I managed to fix it. Don't know exactly how...maybe my computer was being a *****.
Thanks for your replies anyway.
I'm also having the same problem.
Hey!
I was wondering if you could help. l'm having the same problem. did you manage to work pit what you did to get it working? without it I will not be able to update the ROM.
thanks in advance.

Haven''t find the solution yet and started to use my laptop to install programs and sync via microfsoft myphone, but still I am very interesseted in a solution for what seems to be a compatibility problem between HD2 and Windows XP. Anyone can help?
i had a problem that active sync connection used to die after some time
but by
Go to Settings -> Other (Misc. settings) -> USB to PC
Select "ActiveSync"
There is a checkbox under it "Enable faster data synchronization"
by un checking this option now all is ok ..........

Magician connected to the Internet through USB. How to share it through Bluetooth?

Hello, oh wise ones.
The deal is:
I have my pretty Magician connected to the internet through USB on my desktop.
All is fine.
Now, i'd like to connect my laptop via Bluetooth to my Magician and use it to connect to the Web.
Is this even possible? This would be nothing short of legendary and would be told in stories for future generations.
Thanks.
Come on... Someone must know something....

3.Check “Allow connections to one of the following”, and select “COM6” in the list, click OK.
In your Pocket PC:
1.Go to Settings > Connections > Beam: Check “Receive all incoming beams”
2.Go to Programs > ActiveSynce : Click on “Menu” Choose “connect via Bluetooth”
3.if asked “cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership” click “YES”
4.In “Mode” turn your Bluetooth ON and VISIBLE
5.In “Devices” click on “Add”,

10.in ActiveSynce click Menu Choose “connect via Bluetooth”.
This is not really what I wanted, but thanks.
that is what you want, make sure the share internet box in activesync is enable and then you can use internet on your magician through your laptop.
Instal softick ppp it can create a internet connection for pda/palm/mobile phone via bluetooth, usb...
well, I know what you are talking about because I use it.
you mean to use your Magicain as a router IF you are using cotulla's rom
then it's possible all you have to is to look for the short cut in the programmes
"INTERNET SHARING" and there are two ways there either bluetooth or usb
if you are using 2OO3 se I can't remember what it looks like cuz I'm using WM6.1 of cotulla

when you choose to allow remote desktop connections, make sure you use the
"allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop (less secure)" otherwise it wont connect.
Window xp only have 1 option to choose from .
Remote Desktop : Allow user to connect remotely to this computer.
First try to connect from other normal computer.
did you open wifi in hd2?
yes i enabled wifi .
@@ dr.sid. i only have 1 Pc.
if you guys are behind routers, make sure you have the right port forwarding set up and check the ip address of your comp from the router. Also, make sure you're connected to router via wifi on you phone

This is all out of memory, so I appologize if i'm wrong, but don't you need to also add port forwarding for port 80?
tried forwarded port 80 does not work too.
Tried it today, but it's not working for me either :/
I've gotten it to work before so I don't know what's going on...
I know that I use the correct ip and username + password
try this
Enter the domain name as the full computer name with no spaces as well as user name/ip (public or local).
In comm manager go to set up data connection and select adavanced tab.
under connections select 'select networks'.
Then select the edit tab on the my work network, followed by the proxy tab on the bottom. Then tick box ''this network connects to the internet''.
press ok and then try and connect. This works a treat on 3g. have not tried on wifi but i guess its the same.

HTC Shift - Connect WM side with Windows 7 side using WM Network Plugin

Hi,
I tried to do that using this solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3491777&postcount=2
but I failed! Maybe because this solution is for Vista and I use Windows 7 Ultimate
Is anyone here which succesfully done the connection of WM side with Windows 7 side using "Network plugin" installed on WM side (already included in Thaihugo ROMs). If anyone which do it please let us know how he do it as this is very important for our HTC Shift which don't have SD Card on WM.
Nobody is an Network Expert here?
haha
Make sure you have properly setup a share under Windows 7
Create a dedicated share, don't use the share wizard (in your explorer, go to options, and deselect the last one: use sharing wizard.
Also, all your accounts must have passwords. specially administrators ones.
If you cannot connect to your share using a network computer, it will not work with the WM side.
Hi Thaihugo
I really appreciate your reply and the great ROMs you released for all of us!
My HTC Shift run your Light ROM on WM side and Windows 7 Ultimate on Windows side. My internet connection is USIM 3G/HSDPA.
I followed exactly your suggestion and also deselected "use sharing wizard" but I still get a "Map drive error".
What I can see is that "USB Tools" works for me only with "Enable advanced network functionaly" deselected and once the WM side si connected with Windows 7 side through ActiveSync then the internet connection become unavailable. Once the USB Tool "cable" is disconnected the internet connection become available.
I have only one Administrator user on my Windows 7 and is password protected.
My Windows 7 Internet Connection is defined as "Home" internet connection.
My PC name was defined as genuine name "SHIFT" as on your first instructions.
When I enter \\shift and press Enter I can see folders "Users" and "HTC Shift" (shared by me) as Shared Folders!
I also look inside "Change advanced sharing settings" and "network discovery" is turned on.
And I stilll can't map the network drive and believe me that I lost hours trying everything and searching Google but nothing works...
If you have any other suggestion please let me know and I will try...
Thanks!
Create a share without any right (all users allowed, on share and on NTFS)
go to the file explorer on WM side. Select menu, then open path - new path
enter \\shift\yourshare
It should connect.
If not, go to the Windows 7 side, click on the start menu, and search for "local". You will have local policy settings.
go to local policy, security settings, then network security: LAN manager authentication level. Select "send LM and NTLM responses". Confirm, reboot your pc and retry. It should work.
Thaihugo, thank you again for your real help.
I followed exactly the steps you suggest me and still can't connect and I tried even with USB Tools connected to Windows 7 side (internet connection not available) and also without USB Tools (internet connection available).
As I told you when "USB Tools" is connected to Windows 7 side then the internet connection becomes unavailable (disconnected) and once the "USB Tools" is disconnected the internet connection becomes available on Windows 7 side (reconnected).
Also for me "USB Tools" works only if I disable "Enable advanced network functionality".
I also disabled my Firewall on Windows 7 but nothing works... there should be other settings for me?
Thanks!
Nope, you have all the keys. Did you make sure the policy is changed as instructed?
You MUST connect USBtools, and yes, 3G connection will not be available during this.
I suggest you retry all this steps. I've done it on my own shift using exactly the same configuration.
Thaihugo, thank you again for your support. I will confirm here every step completed and this should help on finding the issue I have:
1. "first, know the name of your shift. If you didn't change it it is SHIFT, otherwise type hostname in a command line in vista side."
Done! My Windows 7 computer name was changed to: SHIFT
2. "then type services.msc and make sure the server service is started and set up to automatic if you want it to start every boot"
Done!
3. "Now type \\shift in your start menu. A windows must open, and you should see thinks, like Users, and printers. If not, don't worry, you can still go on. For more advanced users, it can be a good time to set up a share."
Done! I can see "Users" and "HTC Shift" folder. "HTC Shift" folder was created by me on partition D: (I have partition C: with Windows 7 only and D: for anything else) and set as shared folder with read/write/execute options for all users "Everyone".
4. "Now go on Snapvue side, and go to settings-connections-network plugin. First click on the "enable network folder" and wait for the reset."
Done!
5. "Now, when reset is done, start usbtools to activate activesync. On vista side, make sure you are connected ( set up a partnership, or just click on connect whitout partneship. In this case, you will have to do it each time.)"
Done! I choose "connect whitout partneship".
6. "Go back on Snapvue, and in network plugin click on New...
In remote path, enter \\shift\users if shift is your computername, and if you saw Users in the window on the second step. Otherwise, you can enter \\shift\c$ to access the whole drive. Click on map drive. Enter your username and your password (the one you use to login in vista)"
Done! I tried with \\shift\users and also with \\shift\htc shift or with \\shift\c$ and after some little time I get the same error "Map Drive failed".
7. "Make sure you have properly setup a share under Windows 7
Create a dedicated share, don't use the share wizard (in your explorer, go to options, and deselect the last one: use sharing wizard."
Done! I created "D:\HTC Shift" folder then right click on it Properties - Sharing - Advanced Sharing , I selected "Share this folder" then click on "Permissions" and I have "Group or user names" set for "Everyone" and at "Permissions for Everyone" I have "Full COntrol" , "Change" and "Read" all selected!
8. "Also, all your accounts must have passwords. specially administrators ones."
Done! I have only one Administrator account named "Admin" and have password.
9. "Create a share without any right (all users allowed, on share and on NTFS)
go to the file explorer on WM side. Select menu, then open path - new path
enter \\shift\yourshare
It should connect.
Done! but still don't have the connection...
10. "If not, go to the Windows 7 side, click on the start menu, and search for "local". You will have local policy settings. go to local policy, security settings, then network security: LAN manager authentication level. Select "send LM and NTLM responses". Confirm, reboot your pc and retry. It should work."
Done! but still don't have the connection...
Don't know where is the issue but there should be something else which made the difference between my configuration and yours...
Concentrate on trying point 9, and on checking point 10. Maybe you have something else blocking up. I would suggest trying with another computer, and maybe if you can another pocket pc on the same wifi network.
I'm sorry I cannot help you further. Have you other devices available for diagnostics?
BTW: I have my phone off, no sim card
My phone is turned ON and I have sim card inside as the internet connection come from my sim card (3G/HSDPA). My WiFi is turned OFF and Bluetooth ON (bluetooth mouse Microsoft 5000 on it).
Other devices I have is other HTC Shift where I have the same issue and my notebook with Windows XP Pro.
try turning phone off and remove your sim card (just to be sure). Also, please try to connect from your XP computer.
