MyTouch4G Lock Screen Wallpaper Resolution and Location - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone knows what the lock screen wallpaper resolution is? I tried 480x800 and some other resolutions, but what ever size I try, it is cropping the image, which makes it ugly. Also, I am trying to find where the cropped image is saved, but could not find it. For the Home Screen I know the resolution is 960x800 and the location is wallpapers folder on SD card.

Bump... anyone???

No one ???

Its 480/854 or that's what it says in lock bot witch is the app I use had all sorts of problems trying to do anything with the stock lock apk so I just did a back up on it and then I froze it in titanium pro then tried a few of the lock apps on the mrkt but went with lockbot pro seamed to be the best one hope that helps

[Q] new lock screen app?

On winmo I use S2U2 and have a folder full of pictures that slideshow through while it's sat on my desk dock.
On Android the closest I've found is Lock 2.0 but it doesn't slideshow the pictures and whenever it's on charge it shows that annoying batteru icon.
Anyone know a good lock screen alternative that can slideshow pictures and doesn't fill most of the screen with crap?
Thanks!
I also look for something lke that...
I want to present pictures to people and dont want them to acces my sndroid device. Just the slideshow. Everything else is password protectet.
Somebody knows an android app?
Uhm,... the HTC Sense lockscreen has something like that (HTC Sense from Desire HD or similar ROMs)
There you can choose a Photoslide show if I'm remember correctly.
(its been a long time using a desire HD rom )
Edit:
Hmmmmmm, maybe it was the live wallpaper, sorry. Don't know.
Yes, pReXx is correct.
This feature is available at Sense 3 Lockscreen (instead of a normal wp, you can have social updates, picture slideshow, weather and a few more )
But its not an app, you have to completely switch over to a sense 3 rom.

But thats not what they want.
Download a slideshow live wallpaper from the market and it will show on your lock screen.

If i would do it with a slideshow live wallpaper, the lock screen has to be absolutely clean; also there would not be any transition effects between the Pictures...
And if somebody touches the display you have no chance to go back to the slideshow; only if you turn the phone on/off!
Why can´t there be a slideshow app with a password protection??
dammit

[Q] Low quality wallpapers, no matter the size!

I recently copied my 1920x1200 wallpapers from my PC onto the Tab, but when I set any of them as wallpaper you can easily tell how bad/low quality they become. I read somewhere that the Gallery app does this, but I couldn't find any other app that sets wallpapers! Even root explorer or Astro points to the Gallery.
Doesn't sound like the gallery app to me. Sounds like those wallpapers are too high of a resolution. When you set it as wallpaper it has to resize which is causing the poor image quality.
Try setting the wallpapers to the resolution of the tab, they'll be good then.
N.B the gallery issue doesn't touch your images, just the way they are displayed in the app
Yes, it's gallery which makes the wallpaper blurry. Try QuickPic, you'll see the difference. Myself, I'm using MultiPic live wallpaper, so I can have different pic for each page.

Now it works. I used a wallpaper chooser/creator app called dodol wallpaper and now my wallpaper is displaying high resolution images.
I don't know why Gallery app is down sizing the quality when setting a selected image as wallpaper, infact, I have no idea how this whole thing works lol.
thank you sooooo much for this thread; i never knew what caused all the wallpapers I set to be so low quality, i just couldn't figure it out and I assumed since no one was talking about it that either it was my tab or that's just the way it was and I'd have to deal with it.

Wallpaper Crop?

Is there anyway I can just use the wallpaper I download without cropping?
I tried wallpaper slideshow but it like locked up when I set it up and when it applies wallpaper its shifted way to the right and part of the background is dark.
Any help thanks!
Did you try Multipicture Live wallpaper app?
I used the app called wallpaper wizardri. Just try to look for a picture of resolution (1200x800) i believe.
Google wiffed on the wallpapers having to be cropped, which i believe is bs and another pain users have to hurdle through.
Should I resize the image before trying to set it?

You dont really have too, you either will be resizing it in honeycomb when you crop it but if you do it then, the resolution would suck
Wallpaper size
Hi
I found that to have crisp unpixelted wallpapers I needed to get a much bigger image than I though as it needs to work both vertical / horizontal.
So i ended up downloading huge pictures to make it work - 1200x1920
^^ completely agree. This will give you the best results. Even over an app.

[Q] Wallpaper isn't scaling correctly.

Not quite sure what I'm missing, but I can't get my wallpaper to scale correctly. It is consistently zoomed in such that what should be a really crisp, beautiful wallpaper (such as to those bundled with CM 10.1), is instead fuzzy around the edges. I've tried messing with both my launcher (Apex) settings and my developer settings, but to no avail. Any help? What more information should I provide?
Nexus 10 (16gb Wi-Fi)
CM10.1 20130313 Nightly
Stock Kernel (interactive/noop)
Use something like quickpic or wallpaper wizardii or my preferred simple image wallpaper not sure why this always happens but don't fret just use an app and itll scale down properly

I have the same experience, QuickPic provides sharper wallpapers than standard Gallery. Use it to set your wallpaper (otherwise I think the default gallery is better for viewing photos (smoother))
Simple Image Wallpaper Free from the play store works great and very easy to use. if you decide to use it, you wont find with the other apps. long press the screen, hit live wallpaper, and there it is. after that its easy

Im using it but I dont like that you cant choose that the wallpaper doesnt move. When I set the wallpaper, it scales good, but on the homescreen only, on the other screens I have to choose a colour to be shown because the image doesn't cover all the homescreens. Hope you understood me, sorry for my english.
i also found simple image wallpaper free to provide the best visual quality. i especially enjoy its ability to define completely different images for landscape and portrait orientations. that is a stylish effect, and it is very unexpected (compared to usual themes).
somehow, wallpaper wizardrii and other apps which use an image instead of a live wallpaper provoke my n10 to occasionally reset the background to that ugly green leaf... i don't know if anyone has already fixed this since the last time i checked.
Multipicture live wallpaper let's you set any amount of pictures to rotate as the background or you can set a single picture... Works great with no crazy android zooming

Make sure your wallpaper is sized properly for the launcher you are using. If you are using the stock launcher, the wallpaper should be 3966x2560. This will fit your wallpaper perfectly in the 5 home screens...with the center of the image being in the main home screen.
I tried Simple Image wallpaper but could not stand the fact that it always runs and uses 13 MB of RAM. Great program just hate that it needs to run all the time.

Hmmm. I killed the process and the wallpaper disappeared so I assumed it needed to run as long as I wanted the wallpaper to fit perfectly. I will try that thanks for the tip. Weird that leaving it installed but killing it didn't work.....

Ah my mistake. It still does reset. Must have been one of the other wallpaper apps I tried that I was able to do that with

Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder, it's just setting the wallpaper (you can uninstall it) but it does it properly. Maybe even with some sharpening, I don't know. The result is simply good.
Search ”image 2 wallpaper” on the play store. Works perfectly for me.

Remove stock gallery

I am running a rooted Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.2. Last night I installed QuickPic. I then used "Uninstaller" to remove the stock Gallery app. All was looking good until I rebooted the phone. It changed my custom lock screen wallpaper back to the default.
When I tried to change the lock screen wallpaper back to my custom image I couldn't as when you go to the home screen to edit the lock screen wallpaper, there was NO option to select QuickPic to change the wallpaper (it was just blank). Strangely. I can change the home screen wallpaper with QuickPic!
Does anyone know how I can change the lock screen wallpaper without the stock gallery app? I have searched and searched online but come up empty handed!
Thank you!
