was trying to access a game after putting it into my phone and it froze, causing me to take out the battery and restart it.
After that, the phone wouldn't read the memory card but everything was fine.
I went back to stock and still, it's not reading it but everything else works fine. I will eventually have to re-root it but anyone know what the problem is?
after pulling down the upper bar, it says "SD card blank or has unsupported file system." HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Do You have a micro sd to sd adapter and an sd reader? If so, does your computer read the info? If not then the card is messed up, and needs to be formatted (lose everything) or replaced. Sometimes cards just die.
If you don't have an adapter and sd reader, then you can try formatting it from your phone but again, you will lose everything.
Had a similar problem, in the end bestbuy replaced my sd card as it happened the day I bought my phone. I would start by trying to use it in either another phone or on a computer(like in a usb micro sd card adapter)

seems like the card died because of a corrupted game file,..which sucks!

computer won't read it, phone won't read it..
and like you devastator, i got the phone 5 days ago and had to replace the phone once already because of a crack inside the screen causing dead pixels. blahhh

The data from my SD card became partly unreadable, some prgms could not be started and when looking at the root folder of my card I found some items named like ç!é”è((é§éç. Putting the card out and back in didn’t help, only a soft reset did the job. All data was still intact. This thing happened twice untill now. I use a Sandisk 1GB card.
Has anyone had this problem before? I remember reading about the same problem on a forum but couldn't find the posting.
I also experienced the same problem
I had this problem before. When I pulled my Sandisk 1 GB Micro SD and pushed it back in, the System did not recognize my Memory Card. I did it several times and suddenly it came back again.
The trick I used was pushing the Memory upward (against the back of the phone) until the memory was not completely inserted. Roughly about 1/10 of the memory sticks out of the memory slot
I believe this is a major hardware problem with the Memory Slot.
I have had this problem with my 2GB miniSD on my MDA Compact- the first time i had no choice but to re-format the card and start over but second time, re-inserting the card solved the problem.
May be something to do with the card not getting proper contact.
It doesn't work at all anymore!
I've had the same problem with my 1gb SD card since I bought it 2 years ago. It's crap, because copying a movie for instance through the phone (MDA compact) takes forever.
Now I reformatted it, and copied some stuff to it through my card reader. But after putting it back into my phone, the card now is not even seen at all by my phone, and putting it back in my PC doesn't work either... now it's not recognised anywhere anymore...
Anyone, now how to get this fixed?!
Thx!

Try using this utility (or similar) to format your card from a card reader:
http://www.sdcard.org/Downloads.aspx I've used it many times on various cards and seems to do the trick.

Hmmm, thx for hint, but that didn't work either. Since the drive isn't recognised, so does this tool... weird enough the adminstrative tools in windows (drive managament) does see a 1gb drive, but assigning a new drive letter causes an error.... damn... looks like I'll be buying a new SD card.
Does anyone know which brands/types (I now have a 1gb Kinston) have less problems with this, so I can copy files to and from my card though my card reader instead of my phone, without srewing my card up?
Edit: Ha! I formatted my SD card with my digital camera! Leaving just the problem of not being able to copy files to my card through my cardreader...
I'm having SD card issues. Suddenly the SD card isn't recognized; certain folders/files don't show up in the file manager. I also get a message when opening the camera, stating, "Please insert an SD card before using the camera." If I remove, then re-insert, the card reappears, but I get an error message that I removed it improperly. It reverts back to the initial problem soon after.
Please Help!!!
Unmount the SDcard,
Settings> SD card & storage > Unmount SD card
from there you'll click Format SD card..
You'll lose any data you have but since the card isnt reading anyways there isnt much else you can do to fix that.

This issue isn't a constant one; it reads the card properly most of the time. Is reformatting the only solution to this problem, or is there anything else I can try?
Well if it reads it some of the time the it seems like its a sd card slot that's the problem and not the card... MyTouch's have had some problems with fault sd card slots. You might look into sending it back to HTC and having it repaired seeing as it's most likely a hardware issue.

that blows! i've only had the phone a couple months. this issue started happening recently, not the entire time i've had the phone. is there a way for me to test the slot on my own, without having to send it out?
SD Card Data
Since I've bought the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (1.2/LE) I've had reoccurring problems with the 8GB microSD card that came with the phone. It would randomly say that the card was blank, but a quick pop in and out of the slot fixed the problem. The problem has turned permanent now; my pop in/out method hasn't worked (it still comes up blank). When I insert the SD card into my standalone SD card reader it goes unrecognized; nothing happens (which is the standard reaction when plugging in the reader without a card).
I have another 2GB microSD card which works fine (on my phone and with the card reader), so the problem isn't the card reading mechanism. While in the SD card settings on my phone I hit "Format" by mistake I then clicked the "Erase" button in the following prompt, however nothing happened! Something strange is going on, which leads me to believe that there's a chance I can recover the lost data on the card. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam

Probably a bad sdcard. It happens. Reformat and try it again. If that fails then get a new sdcard.
By the way, I'm merging with a similar post that you made a couple of months ago.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692071
I'm trying to keep this forum clean and organized you know.
Now the 2GB card got erased! It was called "2GB," Now it's blank (besides a directory called "LOST.DIR" w/ nothing in it) and called "NO NAME."
Do you think the phone could be causing this to keep happening? This is how it started w/ the 8GB card until it eventually stopped being recognized at all. Is the SD format supposed to be FAT32?
Thanks,
-Adam
You guys are the most helpful!
My 16gb sandisk micro sd card is no longer being recognized. I booted my HTC HD2 in Android and mounted the sd card to transfer pics to my pc. Just then I got a call coming in and the phone immediately became unresponsive. I kept getting the force close message but I couldn't stop it (it seemed to be in a loop) So I unsafely disconnected the phone from the pc, took out the battery and rebooted it. It started up in windows, but when I went to check for the sd card it could no longer be found. I pull out the card put it back more than twice, and yet the phone failed to recognize my memory card.
Please help me guys
put the sd card into a card reader, connect to your pc and if if its recognised there, it might be a dying card I've lost 1 16GB and an 8GB in 18 months with my hd2
If the pc recognises the card with no error save the date, reformat to primary partition fat 32 using Easeus free edition, also try the phone without the card
Thank u
Hey ..I really do appreciate the time u took to respond. Funny I was thinking the same thing....I broke my old card reader, now I have to get another another on from Amazon.com. As soon as I can lay my hands on one that is gonna be my first move.
Again, thanks a bunch.
P.S
Sadly I feel like an idiot for not backing up my sd card...(more than 3000 photos on there )

After trying the SD Card thru a card reader and if it still doesn't work/recognize it - then your mobile (hd2's)windows is corrupted - coz the same happened with me thrice and ultimately I took it back to the HTC service centre and they re installed the windows 6.5 and since then everythings is working normally and there is no problem with the SD Card anymore, but your old card becomes thrash and you'll have to get a new card :0)

Same here. Lost a sd-card recently but probably due to my own fault.
The card was difficult to get out of the reader (Yup, it seems there is some tolerance on the size) so I had to use some small tweezers.
I finally managed to get it out without any visual damage but after inserting it in the HD2 it couldn't see it anymore, neither in the cardreader afterwards.
What I think is that I had physically bent the card and broke the connections to the actual memory chip.
Some good advice on memory cards and I can't stress this out enough especially for dedicated photo equipment. Instead of buying a 16GB card buy 2 x 8GB and from a known seller and known brand.
The best and probably worst experience example that I can give is from a couple who were on their honeymoon and lost all of their pictures because of a el-cheapo 8GB memorycard.
For a phone it is something else but I made a custom out of it to create a map on my c-drive called sd-card phone. Ok it is not a every week copy but it is handy to have the data on my pc and on my phone.
Hi guys, I dropped my phone for the first time EVER in my life (was really sleepy).
Now I can't use my sd card, the phone gave me a popup that it was unexpectedly removed and after that it keeps saying it encountered a problem.
Things like Gallery tell me to "please insert an sd card", it's in there!
I have no idea what to do and it's at least three months left until I can get a new phone, please help me.
Oh, by the way, my phone's not rooted, just normal HTC Sense.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Thread can be closed, I was a dummy and didn't try to remove battery first.
Haha i know the feeling
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
try to remove it and put it back again. if that doesnt help..recover your photos and everything else with some software and format it
Oh my God..
I didn't even drop it and now it happened again!
Removing the battery and micro sd card didn't work. :crying:
Depending on what important info you have on your SD card, you could consider formatting it via your PC, if you have an SD card slot somewhere.
I had a similar issue some months ago, and formatting the card (via Windows) did the trick.
Of course, remember that formatting the card will erase all data on it, and therefore it could render some apps on your phone to be useless / or not work.
(This might sound weird, but if you have another SD card, try formatting that too and putting that in your phone. Then take out the battery, put the original SD card in and see if it is OK after booting up.)
I bought a generic 64GB sd card off ebay. Card worked in my phone till i tried to transfer files to it then all of a sudden after reboot it shows "Blank SD Card SD card is blank or has unsupported files" The funny thing is this card read in any other phone my wifes s3 my mothers LG and even my co workers S4 (granted shes on ATT) It does not matter how many times i take it out and put it back in I still get the blank SD. I put it in a card reader and all the files are there. I have formated it to ext4 fat32 and it came fatext and once in a while if i format it it shows up in phone again till i try to put files on it and back to blank sd. I can read and write files to it no problem in another phone and sd card reader. plug and unplug it all day and it still loads up. Except on my phone. Im thinking i have a defect on my new phone. Anyone else have this problem? I even updated to the MF9 to see if this was a bug maybe they fixed. But i think its the phone when i was rooted with TWRP even twrp would freeze if i had the card plugged in till i ejected it. Oh yea cant even format it in the phone it has the option but does not work either. Some times it just keeps telling me its safe to remove card no matter how many times I hit mount.
These are the sort of things generic cards do. Your best solution is to get an authentic sd card. Be it big name brand or small.
I had this issue on my first sgs4, it also had some issue where it wasn't reading the battery properly (always at 100%). The first 32 GB card did this, read it fine at first then the sd went and did the issue you're having. Returned the phone and the same thing happened on the new phone. The card was some off brand (pny I think). Picked up a 64GB SanDisk has been working so far, but I saw this error come up fora moment but it quickly remounted.
Kind of scared it would happen again (my alarm clock will fail if the sd card dismounted). So I had to go get an old fashioned alarm clock for the first time in7 years.
