Android Web Server Apps - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys,
im using MDJ Gingerbread 1.3, and I cant seem to get any of the webserver apps working such as Wifi File Explorer, Remote SMS, PAW Server. Does anyone know why? or can anyone else get those to work?
Can some help me solve this problem?
Thank in advanced

Bump.
Does anyone know why? Its not router problem.

I'm finding this is a problem with many, perhaps most HD2 Android builds. I have no idea why. I sure hope it is figured out.

Maybe you need to install market enabler and set your zone to US.

I'm not sure how this would help, but I tried it although I'm already in the USA with a US provider. It didn't help.

Exchange Global Contact Access working for anyone?

I am needing a way to access my global contacts without a server side plugin and found this from ms:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/global/default.mspx
I just tried it out and keep getting server unavailable errors. A friend of mine on a different exchange server tried it out as well with the same error. We are both running exchange 2003 spk2 and can sync fine otherwise, in fact using push from the new ROM which is working great. Any thoughts? Anyone else care to try it out? Setup is simple, just user pass domain and server address.
tried the check boxes in setup and they didn't seem to make a difference (forms authentication and isa 2004)
Thanks,
-mix
btw, I tried to update via wifi and grps and received the same error. the FAQ is useless, evidentally they dont expect you to get unavailable errors.....

Thanks for writing this cause I didn't even know it was possible. All I do is go into contacts, click menu, and click find online. Then type in a name and click find and boom! it's there! no need to enter any server settings.
I'm using the new leaked ROM with push e-mail.
Thanks for the tip, I missed that in the new rom. I was hoping to to use global access to schedule a meeting on our shared global calendar, something I can't do with the new ROM, unless someone else can point to a place where I missed it.
If anyone else loads it, let me know.
Thanks,

Windows Live Messenger Mobile and Wi-Fi

Hi guys, I have a question about Windows Live Messenger Mobile Version.
If I choose a internet connection with the SIM, it works, but if I choose to connect with my wireless router (Wi-fi), it doesn't work.
Instead Skype works with both.
Any solution ?
Anyone know if you can use this program with WIFI?

I'm using it through wifi with NO problems!
Live Messenger doesn't work over WiFi except GPRS/EDGE !
Hi,
I have similar problem ! Live Messenger doesn't work over WiFi, instead it always choose GPRS/EDGE connection. I'm not sure whether this is a known problem in WM6.0/6.1 but I hope someone can show a workaround (at least) on this.
Regards,
Daneal
Perhaps Tnyynt could enlighten us as to which version he has and how he got it to work. I have had similar issues but would be willing to try anything to get that to work.

BlackBerry Connect and HD2

This thread is to enable firstcomers to comment on whether they managed to install BBC and make it work. This is a major requirement for me to move into HD2. I look forward to receiving news from you all.
if it works in winmo 6.5 why shouldnt it work with HD2?
For whatever reason it didn't work on HD.
I really doubt about BIS working on HD2, as i tried a lot but not successful in gettting it to work in my HD.
However, BES may work.
It worked flawlessly on my ex-HD (installed on shipped ROM and tested on most of the cooked ROMs including Leo build ROMs) the trick was be changing the AKU of the build then installing the latest 4.0.0.106
Changing the AKU can be done by installing the attached cab.

I was trying with cooked ROMs only and didn't get it working before.
Lemme try your cab.
But, can you pls tell me which one you have got working? BES or BIS?or both?

If you want to know the expansion for the terms,
BBC- Black Berry Connect
BES-Blackberry Exchange server - for business/corporate concerns.
BIS- Blackberry Internet Service- for by Business Individuals.
Check Blackberry site if you want in depth details.
HD2 -> BB connect
Cab installed, 4.0.0.106 too but pin is pending.
I want to test it for ya'll. If you got a bb account for me....

Thx, but its company server, all I get is activation code, so I can not help with the account. Someone else??
Would love to have it. :]
Edit: Possibly something like SetModelID could help, but for Leo... -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4150074&postcount=35
Anyone succeeded?
I had the same issue, activation pending for ages if activated over the air.
Try instead to install the BB Desktop tool for windows and activate it this way. No password needed (if your PC is connected to your mail server) and it works in a glimpse...

SW found here http://id-bb.dewonosiswardiyanto.net/PocketPC/
but doesn't work with Lotus Notes 8.5 so now will try 6.5 version to even start the Desktop...
No luck, the BB Desktop for Windows 4.0.0.17 does not connect to HD2 when ActiveSync works...
(tested on Win XP)
BB connect on HD2
Is there anybody experiencing BB connect to work on HD2 Leo? If so which BBC version is working? I have no issue with my HD so far, but I want to be sure it works on HD2 before changing it....I need it for business... Thank you all for your help

Hi,
Do you use BES?
Do you use the BB Connect Desktop tool for registering?
Have you changed the AKU version in the registry and restarted before installing?
If so and no success, it would be a shame. I also need it for work and planned to get the HD2 soon...

I am using BES.
Did not use the Desktop tool to connect.
Upon installing the software on the HD2, click 'Register', it initiates a data connection, gets an IP address, then disconnects. Longest i have had it working for is 1 min.
Will try the desktop tool but not putting any to it.
Have tried changing the AKU and other settings but
Any ideas ?
Whilst I prefer Exchange Activesync I'll give it a go again our BES when I get into the office later. will let you know

I Goggled proxy server uk and got this http://www.xroxy.com/proxy-country-GB.htm. Try using a web based proxy server form that list. Will be slow but should work (Have not tested on my n1).
I know you're running Froyo and the option isn't there, but cyanogenrom has a proxy for wifi setting. When Cyanogen updates, ya might want to use his rom and you'll have an option.
The easiest thing on Froyo would be to get a VPN. I personally use VyprVPN and it works just fine (even though Hulu has blocked android-devices from seeing any videos). VyprVPN has both a us and a eu based vpn-server, so it should suit most people. I'm also getting speeds in excess of 10Mbps which is pretty impressive.
edit:
Just remembered that you have to have a giganews diamond account to actually use it, oh well there are probably other similiar services around.

[Q] Change Mobile DATA DNS server on i9505 4.4.2 Kitkat

Hi guys,
I've tried searching the whole forum, and I can't seem to find any information on how to effectively change the DNS server when you are connected on your mobile network. I've tried various DNS changer apps in Play store, but somehow, DNS changing method doesn't work on 4.3 below.
I am on Imperium Rom v. 4.0, (ROOTED)
I have been struggling on how can I watch netflix on my phone while I am not in the US.
Thanks in advance!

I need one clarification: how the DNS change would allow you to trick netflix that your phone is in fake location?
Furthermore, I am unsure if the neflix is not checking the location in which the phone/SIM is registered...
To tell you honestly, I really don't have any idea how that works. But it has been working in my wifi connection. I am able to watch netflix outside the US when I change the DNS. Try googling "Netflix DNS" you'll see more info about it.

Hi, I wrote an app called "Override DNS for KitKat" which implements the new way KitKat uses to change DNS servers.
It needs root, but you are already in that situation.
Let me know if it helps.
Awesome! Will give it a go! Thanks a bunch!
