Himalaya PDA IrDa port as remote control

Hi to all.
Does anyone know if we can use our PDA as remote control via IrDA port ?
If so, what would be necessary to install ?

Doesn't work
In the learning mode I want to learn,I tap on any button and it should be learned and beep afterwards. But when I tap on the button,it just appears some text on the screen for a short while(less then 0.5sec=unreadable). Know someone why? Qtek2020 is in the list of supported devices.

And what's the distance that it can be used for? I thing,that IrDA port is not so powerful as IR LEDs in RC...

but IR on such devices have a pretty narrow beam compared to one way IR's like on a normal remote so you really have to aim

Remote Power PC?

Hi,
I was thinking, is it possible to write a command/script for a PPC phone, that would send a command via BT/IR to a reciever connected to the PC to power it up? I think that this could be done on the phone side (I have a Elf Ench.), but the problem lies in the hardware of the PC. My mobo supports wake-on functions:
- on RTC
- on external modems
- on PCI & PCIe deviced
- on PS2/USB keyboard
That first and last one will be probably useless, but what about the rest? I know that some people did it with IR, by connecting IR module to a pin on the MOBO, but IR has a limited range, and you have to point directly to the diode, but BT on the other hand is inactive when the PCs power is off...
What do you think, is it possible?

I have wakeup over USB working here.
Not with my PPC, but with my universal IR Remote.
I use the receiver from the Media Center Remote from Microsoft.
If your board can handle it, the power function of the MCE Remote
can wake up the PC.
It was no problem to learn the IR command to my universal remote.
So it should be no problem to get it working with novii remote or similar ppc programs (if your ppc has a IR-port, or better Consumer IR for more reach).
The MCE remote isn't that expensive, should be under 30$.

Now I have a wake-on-keyboard (SPACE) setup in BIOS, and my mobo is quite new (ASUS P5K) so I think it can handle it. But I just realized, that my Elf doesn't have an IR port, so my only option is BT ... The main problem is, does BT stay active after power off? If not, than there is nothing that we can do ...
And one more thing, I wouldn't want to bootup a IR/BT program to send a command, that just takes too long, is there a way to write some sort of a shortcut to send a BT command w/o launching a additional application?

I think your only way is to send a magic packet over to your network card, assuming it supports wake on lan

universal remote with bluetooth

hii all ... i just found a universal remote ... but me ppc dosent have any infrared im using LG KS20 .. dose any one know if it is any other Univesal remote with bluetooth

The answer to your question is yess and nooo!!Unfortunatly you can control only infra devices with universal remote.But in Finnland people had a n experiment with bluetooth,and some of the hous door handle can be opend with bluetooth,but think about the pairing process.It is deadly.I mean work!!
So remote is infra,controlling some starnge things like windows or doors yesssss you can do it with bluetooth,but you need on the other side the receever as well!!

i use SallingClicker alot as a universal remote for my computer. It can control almost anything on your computer (you can create your own scripts)..

Will that work with windows media centre?

works very well with windows media player, but didn't try with media center yet. but you can edit the script easily (javascript)

What about PS3? The PS3 uses a bluetooth remote control which is purchased separately for watching movies and other things. Can we use our bluetooth winmo devices to control a PS3?

search team for sixaxis bluetooth drivers

I'm looking for gamepad for playing with my Pocket PC.I try to use the hidgamep.dll but untill now it is not successful....
There is the gamepad for chainpus but seems my pocket Pc not work with it.I would like to use the PS3 sixaxis or dualchok 3.But there is probléme with them if yuo open your bluetooht and try to find this gamepad device you won't find them.I read and search on interent and found some handle.I use ubuntu ans sixpaire for change adresse (adresse of my pocket pc's bluetooth) where the bluetooth gamepad must pair and try to pair.But the trouble is the same no sony's gamepad seen...After thinking may be it is the bluetooth stack (I think mine is Microsoft) wich is weak there is may be some lake in the stack/driver...(because under ubuntu or windows you must setup/update the usb and the bluetooth drivers.So can any one help me in this project writting a driver for the sixaxis/dualshok 3 bluetooth gamepad?
I install the widcomm bluetooth stack but when I try to start the bluetooth " I get message there is not enought memory for start bluetooth"
I'm less than a beginner in program devellopement.
I think it would be great to play with this gamepad with the emulator (Gameboy advance, psone,Snes or famicom ect..)

When pairing a new Dualshock3 with the PS3, you should recall that you must connect it via USB the first time in order for it to pair from that point on. If you try to use said controller on a different PS3, you have to connect the controller via USB once again in order to initiate pairing with the new machine, erasing the controller's tie with the original PS3. Even the PS3 does not just see it out there and connect. If this were to ever work, you would more than likely need to develop an application that allowed you to connect the controller to you phone via usb for the initial setup.
That in itself has its own problems. There are usb host drivers for certain devices, however I highly doubt it would recognize a Dualshock3 out of the box. So most likely you would need:
Modified USB host drivers
A Program to handle the USB setup of the controller itself
Probably a proprietary Bluetooth profile
Now i'm no expert on PS3 inner workings so I cant say for sure what profile you would need or if it wouldnt work with an existing supported profile. Before you cross that bridge however, I would think you'd need to at least setup the pairing through USB which is its own challenge.
Can anyone else provide more input/revise my answer?

I'm sure that plugging the PS3 remote into a PC could yield some information about how they connect it to the PS3.. an ID or something that gets changed every time maybe? I doubt you could just grab the PS3 remote, plug it in and go from there, but there has to be some kind of ID that you can associate with the controller and call from your phone to connect to it.

The sixaxis stores the address of its master and will only communicate through Bluetooth with its master.
I wrote a program (finished last Friday night) to change the master address of the sixaxis to whatever I want from a Windows PC, in this case my phone's bluetooth mac address, so now the sixaxis sees my phone as its master and is ready to communicate with it.
But that was the easy part. (Actually it wasn't easy at all, and very time consuming, but easy in comparison to the remaining tasks). Now I need to write a program that will run on the phone and read the connection attempts (and all other data) from the sixaxis and respond in a manner that the sixaxis will understand.
Anyone know of a good Bluetooth Packet Sniffer that runs on Windows Mobile?
