Few issues: Skyfire is "white" - what is the problem? And another question.

Hi. I'm new here, so sorry if I have stupid questions.
Just got my HTC snap (two days ago) and I really love it. It's two days with 3G on with normal use and average talk, and still ~75% battery left. Awesome!
Now stright to the business.
1) Yesterday installed skyfire. It looks like ok, but, after lauching it, i see just white screen. I can go to any kind of web address, it looks like it's loaded - but screen is just white. I can see that the cursor "feels" links, but still - everything is white.
FYI: when I use IE which is installed, I see that sometimes pages are loaded, but during this I receive few warining about "wron settings in internet connection". Therefore, maybe there is some place where I could change the settings? I use 2g/3g.
2) one thing is quite annoying. When I have coppied all my contacts from outlook to phone, I noticed, that the order of contacts is way different I used to. Previously I had SE p1 with Symbian, and I could change, how I want to see the contacts: Name, Surname or Surname,Name. Now I cannot. Is there any way of fixing contacts or just to edit them with hands?
3) When I am on the contact or somth, and I push "call" (green button) I hear short beep. Is it possible to swich it off?

I tried it for over 2 months now and I still can't get the beep off.

sorry to hijkck thread but i'm having issues using skyfire over activesync (using PC's internet connection) Works ok over tmobile 3G/EDGE but somehow i cant find setting to allow connection over activesync. is it even possible?

A Couple of Questions for the HD2 gurus...

as a happy HD2 owner, i have the following questions, if possible to be done:
1. Is it possible to link a Facebook Profile to a contact with full finctionality Except Contact PHOTOs! i have good photos of people in address book that i dont want them to be replaced with Facebook photos.
2. is it possible to open a TAB IN BACKGROUND in Opera!! [like opera PC]
3. My Lock screen does not show 3 locks [i.e as in the manual] when there is a message or a notification! it has only one sliding lock showing numbers of notifications. i.e. no direct unlock that goes to messages or so...
4. is there a good SMALL software that can TURN on/off Airplane mode automatically at scheduled times?

1. Yes, in the contacts option you can choose whether it uses Facebook, Outlook or another photo for the contact.
2. Not that I know of
3. You click on the main lock when you have unread messages/emails/missed calls and more slidey dudes come up that you can slide to go to the appropriate tab.
4. Probably... can't help there.

5. i cant find a way to "SEND / Recieve " all email accounts at once! each has to be done separately!!!

4. The send key if held, takes you to a menu where you can choose to turn off phone(airplane). It is definitely possible to do it on a schedule. I saw it once but wasn't interested due my concern about power management gremlins.
5. There is an app called email scheduler by Gundensoft, see the website.
You can set scheduling for each account, and turn them on and of when you want.
I know you want a way to do them all at once manually, but I can only offer this suggestion to do it automatically.

When you edit a contact if you click on the area their picture is in the top right corner it will come up with a menu on where to upload the new photo. Hope that helps.

known issues HD2 for ROM 1.66.404.1

Hi all,
I'm experiencing some issues with my HD2, and so far they haven't been solved by HTC. I doesn't seem to find a "known issue list" per ROM, but may be I'm overlooking somehow. please let me know if there are answers to the following problems/ questions:
1. I cannot influence on the default display order of first name/last name when I sync my contacts with outlook. it always saves the "wrong way around"
2. when sending "long SMS" (text over 2 messages) the second one rarely arrives at the recipient.
3. the SMS forwarding option from the SENSE UI does not work properly: it suggests to forward the last message from the conversation modus, although I selected another one to forward. when I press "ok" from the status menu and try again, it works fine.
4. the SMS conversation modus of the SENSE only shows me the last 25 messages. when I delete some of these I get the older ones back one by one, filling up till 25 each time. I don't want to be cut after 25. Is there a setting?
5. The twitter peep app. refuses to pop a sound when a new tweet arrives, although this is setup in the sounds settings
6. Where can I set that I don't want to keep all the old tweets until the end of times? I would like to drop history older than let's say 1 week.
7. What happened to the "post time" of the tweets older than one day in the peep app? I want to keep seeing those!!
8. When I use the Google search bar from the SENSE UI, I get a nice results list. When I click these results, I go to an internal Google page that holds the main text of the internet page. at the bottom of that page I can click to go to the actual page. How can I set it up to go immediately from the results page to the actual internet page?
9. On my device it seems to be impossible to connect a bluetooth car kit headset to my device. It recognizes 20 phones that are in cars next to me but not my headsets (only tested with nokia devices).

2nd attempt

On point 9. Go to the settings tab and then click "menu" and "All Settings".
Now go to the bluetooth icon and make sure your phone is discoverable.
I had this same issue trying to pair my phone with my GPS to use the hands free functionallity.
Make sure you turn off discoverable mode once the devices are paired.

hi for point 8 - is it only applicable to that session only ? Or is there anyway i can set permanently ? I noticed once i close and open browser again, same thing happens again. thanks

2, I agree totally but i dont think there is a fix for it
6, i know the only option is to manually empty the twitter cache folder.. but that will delete everything. but it will give you a fresh start...
7, didnt know there was but agree.. to fix 6 en 7 i use the app Motweets but that doesnt have intergration with sense

i dont use the internet tab i just start opera from a quicklink but once changed it should stay

1.
You have to save each contact as firstname and then surname. This you do when opened a contact, edit, then scroll all the way down to the bottom. Press the big button "MORE". Here you can "Save as" and choose first name, then surname.
Yes, from what I know, you must do this with every contact individually. When it's done, you should be able to sync and they should stay that way. At least this is what I've done, and it works for me.

1. There's a cheap app in the Marketplace called Contact Changer that will display all your contacts how you'd like.
5. Yep that's annoying. It makes the alert noise when it updates but not when you get a new tweet. Odd.
8. There's a permanent setting in Google settings to change this.

is there any fix for No. 4?

8. Where are the settings for that? I have the Mobile View unthicked in Settings but still, facing the same issue.

HD2 Noobie Questions

Hello all. Im new to this forum. just got my HD2 couple of weeks ago and had a couple questions. The manual that comes with it is pretty vague.
Wanted to know first of all how to kill programs thats running (also is there a way to tell whats currently running). Theres not always an X to close out some programs.
Also I noticed a when I click on notifications when I receive a new message, there is a line that says "TMobile data" and it is constantly counting up. Is this something I need to turn off/on? I have the unlimited data plan.
Ive had the hardest time transfering my contacts over from my blackberry. I tried the sync thing and outlook but its not to my satisfaction. last name shows first and some email adx dont show up and birthdays and addresses are missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Am I the only one or does the speaker on the HD2 suck? I cant hear a thing when i mtalking to someone with the volume turned to max. If I switch to speaker I can hear them but then it's dostorted. i dont like having to wear earbuds.
I copied over some jpg files to use as wallpaper on my HD2 and some of them are not showing up. Also how can I make it to where the wallpaper does not tile?

winmo has a built in task manager. Browse to windows and find the file taskmgr.lnk (right next to taskmgr.exe)
Click and hold taskmgr.lnk, choose copy to, and select windows/start menu (you have to expand the windows folder by clicking the +, if you click the word windows it will copy it to windows)
Now you can go back to teh homescreen, and assign a quickink to taskmgr which lets you see whats running and close apps etc.
There are others available, but that will get you started.

Thats how long your data connection has been connected... not necessarily doing anything, just connected. If you are unlimited, then dont worry about it for now. There are apps that auto disconnect etc. Do some searching

first off, in outlook, set the default behavour to first/last.
Second, see THIS thread for a changer that will change all your current contacts.
Third dont forget that last/first will still be the behavour on the hd2 for new contacts, so when you are creating teh contact, scroll to the bottom and click more and choose first/last
(or personally i put the whole name into the first name field.)

[Q] HTC Sense Friends link

I keep getting a notification to request friends from HTC Sense Friends. However all the friends are just listed as "Orange" with the option Request or Ignore.
How can I disable this?

What happens is HTCSense.com syncs all your contacts to it's database. In your case, you have "Orange" in your phone book.
When someone else with "Orange" in their phone book (you can imagine that it's quite a lot!) syncs up with HTCSense.com, then HTCSense.com goes "Oh look! This is the same person, maybe these people are buddies!" and suggests that you might be friends with them.
I get it with "Vodafone" and "Voicemail" too. I also had "Aaaaa" which was a remnant of an old featurephone that I would always end up pocket-calling (was one of those phones where pressing the select button takes you into the menu, then the phone book, then the first contact, then calls it - so I put a dummy entry in to stop it from calling anyone!)
Easiest way around it is to rename your contacts to something else. So you could change "Orange" to "Orange Customer Services" - however you'll probably find that someone else has that too...so you might need to get more obscure with your naming!

Or you just disable HTCsense sync (Options->Accounts and sync).
If you don't really use it, there's no point of it draining ur battery while u sleep

what exactly does HTCsense sync do ?
i mean if we stop it from syncing , will that affect the sense.com website and we wont be able to track the phone or ring/lock it ?

At first I was ignoring them but they kept coming back so I clicked the Request button to see if it would go away, but no it says I have them as friends but offers more of the same contacts (main one being "show balance") to add as freinds. Can someone please help cos this happends every second day?

Sorry about that I should have addressed it as I'm still getting the same thing. I did change them by removing letters and it was still showing up and found out it's the number its finding, but after all that I found out that it was O2 numbers from when I joined HTC Sence with a HD2 desire rom and now I'm with vodafone and they aren't applicable so have now deleted them
very sorry about that, I am a Noob
