Thanks.

I just deleted my Vending.apk as well. Tried several .apks, but none have come to the rescue quite yet.
Is there an easier way to restore the marked app?

you probably need root control, or gotta restore your whole system with xRecovery. I deleted gmail (a default app) one time by mistake, and I had no choice but recover my system through xRecovery.

Could someone provide me with an update.zip containing the Market app? I've tried several copies of the .apk, but still the Market app won't start.

I can give but all my apps, gmail, contacts will be your

App storage

Does anyone know wheres apps from the market are stored? I have about 20 of them downloaded and installed but I wanted to know if there is a way to extract all of the .apk files so I can load them all in again if I decide to switch ROMs..
If you aren't rooted you can use the app backup feature billy in the Astro file manager. If you are rooted
I'd use titanium backup. I know the system adopted are stored in / system/app.

Download folder FULL of Apk's

On my sdcard I have a download folder which my browser (DolphinHD) uses and I assume the market. Well its full of apk's some of which are months old. Is it safe to delete all of these? Is this in fact a temp dir. for the market and other apps?

Should be fine to delete whatever in there. The apk files are just the installers, so if you delete them the app will still work, but if you uninstall an app you'll have to re-download the apk to install it again.
Also the Market shouldnt be using the download folder, just the browser.

Stock APKs

I was wondering if someone with all the stock apks could post them on a link for download. I'm unable to complete the Samsung update and I believe it's because I have some of the stock apks removed.

Here is a file with all the bloatware, but you need to use TiB in order to restore it...

Do I need the premium version? I can't figure out how to restore apps with .gz files.
No you don't, just copy ALL the files into the Titanium Backup folder, then launch TiB. If you scroll to the bottom, you should see all the apps with lines through them. click them, and then hit restore, easy as pie.

I feel like an idiot because this should be easy but I'm having issues. When I click the slashed out name of the app I want to install I don't have a restore option. I've tried running batch commands to do the install but that also doesn't work. I have BusyBox installed. Ideas?
Have you tried clicking the button that says "Problems?" yet?

So the directory SDX uses for restores is '/sdcard/sdx/backup/app/' but this directory doesn't exist. I've tried creating this directory and placing my .gz files in there with no luck. Any other ideas?
Google it, install the app, run it, navigate to /sdcard/sdx/backup and put all the bloat there, unmount your sd card, open the app again and find the restore option, check them all and hit restore, accept the superuser permissions, and your done. Then you can update with the update.zip I posted in the android development section for DL17.

I've completed all these steps. However, when SDX installs it doesn't create the backup directory. I've tried manually creating this directory, placing the bloat I want to restore in the directory, and searching for the bloat via SDX but nothing shows up.
I'm having the same problem with Titanium Backup. TiB shows the bloatware I want to reinstall but doesn't actually have an option to restore.
Its been forever since ive used it its probally a diffrent folder name...just delete the folder you made go into the app and vackup an app then the directory will br on the sdk card delete the apk in there and place the bloat there and restore.

Well I realized why I couldn't see the bloat I wanted to restore in SDX. It's because SDX backups files as an .apk. The bloat I have is .gz backed up from TiB. I don't have original .apk's for the bloat I deleted only the .gz's from TiB. I still can't understand why TiB won't allow me to restore the apps with .gz's. It shows them on the list but there is no restore option.

Finding Droid X bloatware files

Hey I have 2.2.1 Android version and 2.3.340 Sytem version on my Droid X and I need some help. When I first rooted my X I very quickly uninstalled all the bloatware that I didn't want bc I didn't know that you could just keep it and rename it. Now I have Root Explorer and I have the capability of renaming files, but I'm missing a TON of bloatware. Do any of you guys have link directing me towards a place where I can download those missing files? Thanks!

Did you make a backup before you. Started your install spree
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Unfortunately, no. I'd already uninstalled a few apps before I made my first backup. Yeah, I know....stupid, right? Lol.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Lol I'm pretty new at all this but I'm sure you could find a stock rom and flash it on your dx. Search around. I'm sure your not the only
One whose done this. If not you can get the apks for em

I sent you a PM like 5 minutes after you posted this...
Check it?
Yes I recieved the pm. Thanks for the help!

Okay, so I've got the file now that has all the stock droid x apps on it. I tried to copy and paste the apps from my sd card to system/apps. Unfortunately that crashed my phone and I had to flash back to my backup ROM. What did I do wrong?

you cant just copy the files over.
you need the apk and the odex files
then you need to change the permissions to rw-r-r and install it
then you need to reboot
i would SBF and start over renaming them to bak or try a custom ROM thats 10x better than stock like apex, darkslide or if you prefer ASOP then Liberty.
You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but what's sbf? Lol.

Oh, and after reading your helpful info on changing the permissions I still wasn't able to install some of the files. So, a few questions:
#1- What folder do I need the files to be in before I try to install the apps?
#2- Do the still end up in /system/app like all my other apps once I install them?
#3- Why would an app like for instance "friendfeed.apk" say "Aplication not installed" after I click on "install"? Bc that's what a lot of my apps are saying when I try to install them.
Please help! I'd rather install each of these apps 1 by 1, THEN rename them, instead of completely returning my phone to stock, customizing it (ringtones, apps, wallapapers), THEN rooting it again, installing the rest of the apps that I can't run without Superuser access, and THEN renaming all those files. Ugh, this is a pain in the butt. Please give me step by step instructions on how to do this (move "x" file and "y" file to folder "z", etc....). I'm a noob at this so I need it basic. Thanks!
Back up your contacts to your Google account and return your phone to stock. All your apps can be redownloaded from the "my apps" section of the market once you sign in w/ your Google account. Your contacts will also be resynced. It's a piece of cake. And rooting with z4root is so, so, so, easy.

Ugh....I was trying to avoid returning it to stock. I've got all my ringtones and stuff customized. Is there no way to leave my phone as is and just put the files back on there?
Also, would just doing a factory data reset put all the stock apps back on there? Or do I have to do more?

I tried installing the calendar.apk (extracted from the rom package) it forced stop with error.
I want my calendar back. Is there any way. I am using cm 7.1 rom 2.3.4.
Please Help
Thanks
can you explain how u delete that?because it is very necessary to solve ur problem.
I believe that if you flash a relevant gApps .zip file you should be able to get it?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Did you try pushing the Calender.apk and CalenderProvider.apk to /system/app/ using adb or root explorer. Then changing the file permissions to rw-r-r. Maybe it works. (If it force closes again, clear the application data from /settings/applications/manage applications/all/ and restart. )
