Has anyone had any luck with using the Digital copies that are now coming out on DVD/Blu-ray combo packs, on their dell streaks?
I have tried using the WMA version on one, but my Streak will not play the WMA file. I haven't tried downloading an iPhone version, simply because I didn't want to waste another digital copy doing this.
Anyone doing this successfully? Please post how you are doing it. I'm sure many besides myself will be grateful.

P.S. I'm using DJ_Steve's 1.5.2 latest build, just installed it yesterday and it rocks!.
I'm not sure if this helps but when I wanted to play divx movies I couldn't. I downloaded an apply called rock player. It works like a charm for any movie I rip or drag off the PC

Vplayer is a good app to watch dvdrip movies also. Subs are supported also. I also have rockplayer and I think both are equally good.

Hey guys,
No matter how I encode my videos I cannot get them to play on my streak, they play fine on ipod, computer and psp, but never on the streak, I have tried divx using Rockplayer and that has never worked, and if they will play the sound is way out of sync,
Any ideas would be gratefully received

any videos that i download from the net as avis seem to play fine on rockplayee. That is without any extra e ncoding steps

No probs here with play back using rock player. A bit choppy with flv's but sync with audio is usually fine

What settings are you encoding to. If you are encoding you may as well do mp4 format and use the stock or real player beta

I was trying to play a MKV file that was 480p and all i got was continuous pixelation and lag. Does this phone not support 480p or does the player not support it?
Where can I download this, it doesn't show up in the market and the website points me to the market...

Is there a way to get the streak to play mkv xvid or divx? Encoding everything with handbrake just seems like a whole extra step, it would be awesome to just play them directly.

That might be an idea. Watching my first video since flashing 1.6.1 and I have a message on the screen while the video plays. It says the file is audio only. Very annoying. File is mp 4 converted from xvid using handbrake with dell streak preset I saw somewhere, lifehacker or streak smart or someplace. Does anyone know how to make the message go away?

Well rockplayer lite works fine for mp4 it seems, tomorrow I will throw other video file types at it and see if it can hang.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a free video converter to convert media (wmv, mov etc) to play on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

I use Format Factory
converts to anything... you may want to ask which file format is best for the Tab... as I don't know.
I convert to 720x480 MP4... and it works well on mine... somebody on here may know a better size/setup

You can also use vplayer. Plays everything without the need to convert anything.

EncodeHD is good if you want something simple. Just choose the XBox or PS3 profiles.

I like DVD Catalyst 4. It encodes according to the profile you select so you can choose the Tab 10.1 or the Nexus S or whatever other device you have.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did try Handbrake but it completely screwed up on the conversion.
I am trying Kies now (I didn't know Samsung had such a program available until last night) but if not, I might just use a player that plays everything. It makes the most sense.

I really enjoy using Plex as well running on my WHS. They have made some really great improvements in the last couple updates.
I use a DVD Catalyst if I need the files to be stored on my Tab and Plex to stream.
I put up a post about this a while back, but the thread kinda died. I tried out Cyanogenmod 7 recently and as we all know...they only have nightly versions. Nothing stable. When I tried it I liked everything EXCEPT the fact that I couldn't view my old videos. I'm not just talking about old videos taken with my blur camera. I'm talking about REALLY old videos that I took over the years with older phones. Anyway, I wanted to know if there's a fix for this. Please let me know bc I REALLY like the other aspects of CM 7. Thanks!

Haha double pasted this link lol... this is a link to vlc media player alpha, with this installed on my DX I can play all old blur videos and multiple different file types that CM7 wouldn't play, not sure but I bet it'll play your old .3gp files as well. Make sure to follow the instructions on their site to determine if your processor is neon or not, my DX and SGT are both neon, but yours may be different...

Well, I just tried it out on my stock rom before trying cyanogenmod again and vlc player wouldn't play sound on my REALLY old videos. The newer stuff would play though. Ugh....I still need a better solution to this. :-/

You might have to convert your really old 3gp's to a different format... will the stock rom play them with any player?

There are many other third party players you can try. Rockplayer and mxplayer come to mind. Worth a shot?

@hoot- yes, the stock player still plays my super old videos.
@runn- I tried mxplayer last time I had CM 7 on my phone and it didn't work. I don't remember if I tried rockplayeror not tho. Maybe it's worth a shot. If I convert my old files what should I convert them to anyway?

I would convert files to something general like maybe avi or mpg... something that any player will play... if you don't have access to a computer, I think there are apps on the market that allow you to convert files... look around a bit
