[Q] Will Root Lose My Unlock? - G1 General

Hello I want to root my g1, but I need to keep my unlock as I use AT&T. Any help?

No, it will still keep your root because once it is unlocked, it's unlocked forever (in most cases but rooting it will be no problem for unlock)

Thnaks so if i root i will still have unlock?

you will indeed as unlocking the phone accesses a different part of the phones system. rooting access another part so will not affect its lock status

t mobile unlock app not working why?

When trying to unlock sim card
Thats becuse I'm rooted?? Or what ?
It doesn't work with root or so I was told; I had to return the device to stock to use the SIM Unlock App. I hate T-mobile for this. There is a thread on how to do that including relocking the bootloader before running the SIM Unlock App (that works perfectly). Once SIM Unlocked, you can reroot

I don't remember having to relock the bootloader... but either way you'll need to backup your current data to restore if you care about your data that is... unrooting will encrypt your data partition rendering TWRP unable to access it and locking the bootloader wipes your device.

Rooting

Hey all, so I've been looking over the forums and the web for a way to root my Lg-h872, only thing u can find are instructions on how to root the lg-h870. Any ideas???
I was able to unlock the boot loader though. Also the phone is on T-mobile.
There is no way to root H872 atm
That sucks. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Question, the bootloader is unlockable, but still no root is possible?

Root without PC?

Is this possible in any way? Will it be possible soon? Thanks.
The only way to root without a PC that I know of is an app like King Root. But you don't want King Root. It only works on certain phones and probably not this one because dual partitions make it much more difficult even if you have a computer. But King Root is pretty much malware. It loads adware onto your phone, sends unrestricted data to servers in China and refuses to give root access to any app that King Root considers a threat to any action that King Root wants to perform on your phone. The fact that anyone actually uses the app is unbelievable to me. There may be an auto root app that is less malicious but probably nothing that would work on this phone.

You need an unlocked bootloader.
You need a computer to unlock the bootloader.
You need a computer to flash the images.
There is no way to OEM unlock without a computer.

King Root actually works on some phones where the bootloader can't be unlocked. That was the only reason I tried that garbage app but any benefits from rooting aren't worth the problems caused by the app. If the bootloader is locked but you are rooted you can run apps that require root access like Titanium Backup (as long as King Root doesn't block root access like it does with Adaway) but you can't flash a custom kernel or custom ROM.

Is it possible to unlock bootloader when "Bootloader unlock allowed: no"?

Is it possible to unlock Xperia X Compact bootloader when phone information says "Bootloader unlock allowed: no"?
Thank you for any knowledge.

Theoretically possible, but almost pointless, since there's no way to get the phone to boot with any system modifications, unless kernel security features are disabled, which requires unlocking the bootloader.

Lock Bootloader, Keep Root

Hey, experts! I have a question. Can I keep the ROOT and LOCK BOOTLOADER?
What I want to do with my phone is,
• Unlock Bootloader
• Revert to Oreo(I'll upgrade later, my phone has some software issues)
• Root
• Lock Bootloader
It's this possible?? Because, techmesto, narender Singh claimed that, looking Bootloader after rooting results in bricking up the phone.
Absolutely don't lock it. He's probably right. Just about everything sends this phone into a bootloop, so yeah, it will probably brick it. Even if it boots, OTA will also almost certainly be broken. You'll have to pay to get it unlocked again.
