Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with his Samsung Fascinate. I myself have a Samsung Focus and there seems to be a nice hidden menu using various codes(see posting in other forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839154).
Is there a way to access a similar menu on the Fascinate? If yes, are there specific steps to follow and final settings to input to help increase overall volume on the Fascinate ? He says that his speaker output is really low especially when on a call so I'm hoping there is some kind of fix for it.
Thanks all to that respond.
have you tried looking here?
Yes I've already tried that. What they don't give is final settings to input once in the menu, or what the final screen should look like. I know on the Focus once you get to the final input stage, then there is a number and then are max/min fields to input. Not having the phone in front of me makes it a little difficult to test and see what comes up, so I was hoping there was more detail as I don't want to screw up his phone. I didn't mind playing around on my Focus until I could follow right path, but it was a bit of work piecing everything together to finally understand. In fact I followed one posting and he gave the wrong code and it totally reset my phone. Anyway back to my original question, if anyone has detailed instructions and what the menu should display and what the final input settings should be, it's very much appreciated.
Just wondering if anyone has the sequence, dial code and final input.
Thanks all !

Got your HD yet? Loving the vibrating feedback from those virtual button along the bottom? Me to! The question is, how do we enable this feature for other touch screen inputs? It should at the very least be mapped to the two Windows Mobile soft keys right? There is clearly some API for this since Opera it also doing it when you click on a link.
Anyone got any ideas how we can get at it?
yeah i was expecting full screen haptic feedback when i saw the spec sheet few months ago. kinda disapointed to find now that it's only for the capacitive buttons along the bottom.
if samsung omnia can do it why can't the hd?
i'm sure someone in the community will sort something out!
Actually, I noticed that the page buttons on the Touchflow 3D bar also give feedback so that's pretty cool. They don't do it when you slide across the various pages, only when you click to select one so the diffence between the breif press and a press and hold event must be detected also.
I'm sure we will see so more work done with the haptic feedback. I seem to remember that it took just a few days for some ultra bright person (CharlyV was first I think) to revese engineered the API for the G-Sensor so I expect someone will feel like writing a little app to extend the feedback funtions pretty soon.
any news? I am also keen to get haptic feedback on everything.
i use this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450256
really really love it!
start -> settings -> system -> touchresponse settings to customize to your needs......
kudo's for the maker!
Been posted elsewhere but http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425063
Is great especially when typing. I've dialed the vibration down so it just tingles as you type.
I have been patiently waiting for the update that was made available yesterday afternoon so I downloaded and updated my phone. Since it resets everything I really didn't get around to doing much with it last night. This morning I started to get my phone setup and noticed the sensitivity seems to have worsened, sometimes considerably, over what I had before.
Scrolling has become less responsive, the X (close) button needs to be pressed a few times rather frequently, the buttons on the bottom row of the screen do not seem to respond very well either anymore, and lastly it just doesn't quite feel the same. Of all the problems I have been having with my HD2, screen sensitivity (accuracy could be a bit better) was not one of them until now.
Is there a way to calibrate the screen that I was not able to find on the phone? Anyone else notice any difference after updating?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I'm having the same issue but over all the new ROM is more stable.
Align
Start > Settings > All Settings > System > Scroll down to Align
Cheers
Also look for an App called TouchMark (think I found it on OMarket).
Neat little App that shows you exactly where you are touching the screen.
Maybe you have lost your touch
Also I use BsB to lower sensitivity of the screen which assists me greatly with typing.
Thanks for the tip but the "align" button is not in that folder on my phone. I searched and didn't find it anywhere else either.
After having a full day use with my phone the screen sensitivity is still a bit flaky, I would say it is worse than it was before I upgraded the rom. As for stableness, I have had several random data disconnects and small lags here and there that I didn't notice before. Unfortunately the audio lag has not been fixed. I should quit while I am ahead.
The summary is I want them to get the basic functionality of the phone to work and in doing so, please do not mess up the few things that are working, such as screen sensitivity. I am curious how long before the next rom update.
On a separate note, does anyone know where we can see a list of what they fixed in this rom?
Thanks!
Align?
Start > Settings > All Settings > System >"""screen""',, then align on mine hd2
??? are people on this thread a little confused??
going to the screen settings is NOT going to fix what the rom update did... the scrolling is considerably worse... not the accuracy...
for some reason, when i scroll through things.. its slow, laggy, and choppy.. its probably the most ridiculous "update" ever.. it simply made the phone worse... i wish i could go back to my previous rom.. before the official update.. i had absolutely NO problems with the scfreen sensitivty.. in fact.. i had no issues with it at all.. don't even know why i upgraded... pity...
and there is a fix thread floating around the TMobile HD2 forusm somewhere.. but that fix doesn't even get it remotely close to how it used to be.. now if someone could report exactly what the settings are on the stock TMoUS rom in the registry BEFORE updating to the official update.. it would help out enormously for the hackers who can fix what TMo has done to our phones...
people people dont fret!! just install HD2Tweak and look for the option that allows you to increase sensitivity and there ya go! there are 4 levels of sensitivity and i set mine to high and its perfect.
Iquigley- Unfortunately I do not have a "Screen" button in my system folder...
Just to clarify my original post in case it was confusing, although I believe accuracy could be better I did not notice a change in the accuracy of the screen, just a drop in sensitivity. Scrolling now has a tendency to stick and launch an app instead of actually scrolling. That doesn't seem to be happening as much now so I might have just adjusted to the new "feel" of the phone.
Can anyone confirm that it is just a setting that needs to be changed? At this point I avoid adding new apps to the phone if possible since I am afraid it will break something :s
Thanks!
The screen option in settings is hidden on the T-Mobile HTC HD2. You can make it visible in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Pen
Set the value of "Hide" to 0 (currently it is 1). Then the screen option will be visible in the system folder under all settings.
i went to do the registry change and cant find pen under control panel, is it under another sub folder?
Thanks Tobiascrystal. I am confused why they would have that hidden in the first place. I have been trying to avoid having to change registry settings but I might just be shooting myself in the foot by doing so. I will check it out.
I mentioned this once in a Development thread, but I am hoping maybe now someone can help. I often find myself wanting to make use of the keyboard in situations when it does not automatically come up. On my phone I can hold menu to bring it up, but of course Honeycomb does not have this.
Any how does anyone know a way to do this?
like what situation????
arrowing through menus etc...
It is also useful when fields don't pop the keyboard up right. The search button on this forum is a good example. Click it, then click the text field, it will close as soon as teh keyboard pops up, then the keyboard goes too.
Hi, long time casual forum reader having trouble with my galaxy note 3. I've found so much useful information on these forums it's the first place I decided to ask for help at after unable being to find any answer by searching Google or these forums. The problem:
Whenever I hold down my finger on the touchscreen it is not working properly. I am unable to drag and drop icons on the home screen by holding down then dragging them. I am unable to hold down on a link in Chrome and have the option menu appear which allows you to open in new tab. I CAN hold down and scroll the screen up/down.
I do not know what is causing this problem. I have in the past closed out various unknown/system services in the application manager but haven't ever disabled any. I have restarted my phone multiple times leaving it powered off for over a minute before repowering. I am using a tmobile galaxy note 3. That is not rooted. I have the most recent update from tmobile (installed it hoping that it would fix the problem). Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong or how to fix it? I'd be more than happy to provide more information if required.
Thanks
Correct terminology?
If no one has any ideas for how to solve this problem, does anyone know the correct terminology to use to describe when you press and hold your finger down on the screen then try to drag? I'm thinking part of the problem I'm having with searching for a solution is that I'm using incorrect search terms to describe the problem. I've tried things like press and drag, long hold, drag and drop, and various other similar terms. I'm hoping the correct terminology might yield results related to this issue. Thanks!
I like my new S7 Edge, but I wish the home button wouldn't wake my phone display up when it's in my pocket: I don't want it to wake the phone up under any circumstances, after all there's a nice button on the side to do this . I had a web search, and found a number of suggestions to the effect that it's easy if it's rooted. But NO actual descriptions of how to do it. My phone is rooted and working well on Nougat using this excellent ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/android-nougat-7-0-beta-1-rom-test-t3498664
I had a search in XDA too, but have still found nothing to suggest how I can do this. Can someone point me in the right direction please!
So no one knows? Somewhat astonishing. There are guides on how to do this on older Galaxies by remapping the keyboard tables but it would appear that the way these work has changed in Nougat. There is no HOME KEY WAKE, or anything like it, in the /system/usr keyboard tables. Key 143 in generic.kl says 'WAKEUP' and I've tried commenting this out, but there is no observable difference in behaviour.
I assume the function has moved elsewhere but I'm surprised that no one on XDA now knows how to mod this!
im looking for that too, cant find a solution.
