I just tried playing some of my ea games and noticed they are freezing right after it checks for updates. Only way to get it back up and running is do a battery pull, any ideas? I have a feeling that I neglected to install something from the options when I built my rom but maybe not..

The roms we have right now will not cause game freeze. What kernel are you using?
good day.
Stupid fast 1.98..

Just realized you said it freezes after update check. Hmmmm? Couldn't hurt to give this one a shot from Adrynalyne http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/1230_NON_voodoo.zip. Just clear dalvik cache after kernel flash. This one is also not oc'd.
good day.

Ok I will try it in the am, thank you! Just curious, I have never cleared delvik cache when flashing a rom. should I every time?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes dalvik should be cleared within the same cwm session of rom or kernel flash. The clear dalvik cache option is under advanced in cwm. And first boot after will be just a bit longer don't panic it's normal. And I have been using that kernel I linked you to with no ill effects. In fact a little slicker than the SF stuff.
good day.
Ok thanks! I was able to establish that delvik cache is the .apks cache on my phone. So if I erase it will I lose all app data(saved games etc...) or does it simply just clear their caches and will take a bit longer to load next use?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Do not just delete that file or you will be in a world of hurt. Clearing of the dalvik cache is performed in cwm/advanced/wipe dalvik cache and this get done within the cwm session while flashing rom or kernel. And no you will not loose save data with a dalvik wipe.
good day.
Sorry I had a typo when I said delete the file, I meant to clear it.
Edit: just realized I've been calling it "delvik" and not "dalvik" too
Thanks!

Is this kernel designed for DL09 or DJ05? I am running DJ05 still.. nothing has motivated me to run DL09 yet..
Both. DL09 only offered some baseband and framework changes. I'm using that kernel with DJ05 rom and modem.
good day.
Ok thank you

Installed the kernel you suggested and cleared dalvik cache and games work again

OK. So thisnis my first post here. but I've been readingb up here for almost. 2 months now. Everyone here is very nice and very helpful. So I upgraded to dj05 the other day. Everything was fine burning could jot get my market to open
I cleared the cache, market cache, market download, davilk cache, factory reset everything. So I decided to revert back to di01 and just wait out the official update. I reverted back via Odin and flashed in a clean version of di01. Now I am getting a network error when I try to open the market. Failure to connect with network. Any ideas guys?? Thanks for the help.

Sorry did you factory data reset after you flashed di01? Try clearing everthing one more time. This happened to me a couple of days ago.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Ok ill give it a shot. Thanks.

OK I tried the factory wipe and cleared everything again. And when I open the market it still give me a server error.

Did you update your modem.bin?

Yeah I did that too. I just don't know what's wrong.

Did you wipe from stock recovery and from clockwork? Adryn has said before that clockwork wiping doesn't wipe everything. Not sure if you already did both though =)
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
If that doesn't work, try this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13392613/di01modem.tar
Flash thru Odin - use PDA button only!!!!!
Ok so I reflashed the di01 and then used a backup female when o first got the phone rooted. And it fixed my problem. Thanks a lot for the help guys.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
can i please go into detail on how you fixed this? i have the exact same problem and i cant figure it out. I reflashed di01 and did all kinds of data wipes and it still wont work.
EDIT: nevermind i fixed it
Does clockwork even actually erase davlik cache? Seems to fail on mine every time

I watched the logcat after clearing mine. It seems to be working. Still trying to figure out how this phone works so I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a problem with it not clearing dalvik.
Looking for a defrag or sum sort of cach cleaner for my phone ****s hela slow freezez all the time needs a reboot every other you tube attempt is the aum sort of cleaning app or sumthing

History eraser does everything, call logs, sms, web cookies, you tube, and other stuff. Its the app with the eraser icon not the trash can. The trash can one fails on a part of deleting so that app is no good if you need to go further than that and are rooted you can try cache mate. Which will wipe cache without being in recovery or you can just go into recovery and wipe cache. I prefer the recovery method. Because theoritically to properally wipe cache you should not be loaded into the os

+1 on just using the recovery that we already have, no need for another app... Unless you feel like you have too many available system resources (if I had a nickel for every time my phone ran too fast and smooth... I'd be in debt...)
Just make sure to wipe dalvik cache at least, especially if you've installed a few apps since the last time it was wiped (which would be the last time you flashed a rom, if you're never done it, the phone doesn't wipe dalvik automatically...ever...)
I'd recommend wiping both the low level linux cache ('cache partition') as well as the dalvik cache

Put ics back on and it works fine

Have you tried wiping the cache and data on the play store app, probably worth uninstalling updates also. Just an added check, but might be worth flushing the dalvik cache also, sounds like it's retaining some settings.

It's weird it works ok on ics
How do I wipe dalvik cache ? I'm not rooted just on ics German release
I did a complete hard reset via menu not via home / vol up and power so my internal sd was wiped (did this on gb which I had the problem with)
Seems ics is ok but gb fails ?
Thanks in advance
If you're on lpy German, then I would suggest to let it lie. If you've done clear cache and clear data,.then don't perform any extra wipes.
usually this kinda thing points to settings applied in the dalvik, think you need cwm to wipe that, or in the play store app itself. If you've cleared that then I'm out of ideas.

This wasn't happening yesterday. Every morning I reboot my phone when j remove from the Wireless charger to prevent the wireless charger wakelock.
This morning however I notice that everytime I reboot I get the Android is upgrading message as if I just performed a OTA.
The phone finishes the upgrade and looks and acts fine bit if I reboot again it does it again.
Anyone else experience this before? Its still happening if I reboot everytime.

Clear cache and maybe load a new kernel maybe?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
if you didnt do it yourself, then its either an app, a mod, or the rom/kernel that youre running. whats happening is that your dalvik-cache is getting wiped then rebuilt on boot.
I'm on stock 4.2.2 rooted and running motley kernel. Have been running this setup for a month no and no issues and haven't installed any weird apps that could do this.
Doesn't make sense

I think it happens when you wipe davlik with apps disabled.
if it only pops up for a second or so, don't worry about it.
It was the beats audio root app (paid version) I noticed it would consistently say permission granted even when the phone was idle.
Uninstalled the drivers using the inapp uninstaller and now no more message when rebooting.
Anyone know why this app clears dalvik cache every reboot?

i use the beats+xlouder flashable mod, and it clears dalvik upon flashing. its nonsense that the app clears dalvik after a reboot, i definitely wouldnt be happy with it.

So how do you find out which application is the one that's wiping the cache?

its probably one that needs root. it could be a flashed mod too.

Thank you for sharing what was the problem.
I have found fix for this error, it is mainly due to odex files which are created by lucky patcher so deleting these files using lucky patcher itself will surely remove this error with 50 percent success rate. Here's the fix; open lucky patcher, there in lower left section you can see Toolbox, click Toolbox button then select 4th last option i.e Remove all odex files. Thats it android will reboot on itself and vola no android is upgrading. .
Check out attachement for help.
