I had the same issue with my I5800. I flashed with JPB. It went about 2 or 3 days. After that, it was stuck , when i got a call.I try to reboot my phone, but when I've to put the pin, it did not respond to my fingers. After that I reboot the phone to recovery mode. The empty cache menu was worked, but the factory reset did not.It was stuck to formatting....
.After 3 or 4 trying, ODIN was able to see my phone, so I flashed with the JI2 firmware. Now my phone is like the original
I think, that we should wait for officional fw from samsung.
Sorry for my bad english.
What firmware?
I was flash my i5800 with JPB and all was OK. After that I was try to root whith z4root software. That was without succes, I am exiting out z4root because it never finish.
Now my i5800 boot to samsung animation then nothing!!!
Can you help me, I was try other firmvare 2.2 and 2.1 but not sacces.
Thanks
Try flashing a firmware containing a datafs.rfs in the PDA .tar file
z4root doesn't work for JPB.. you have to use superoneclick
enable usb debugging
turn phone off
plug phone in via usb
start superoneclick in windows
click root
turn phone on
wait for superoneclick to say your rooted
VOILA
Yes, ok,
but how to recovery phone now?
Try to reflash latest 2.2 with odin and reroot
Sent from my GT-I5800

I dont know, I will back phone to service, and wait, I dont have another solution.
I got he same issue when i flashed from the stock 2.1 rom to 2.2 (I5800XXJPA)
it got stuck on the samsung logo, if i did a reset or wipe cache from recvery i was able to alsosee the starup animation.
What worked for me was to downgrade to I5800XXJG6.
And ather that flashed it again with I5800XXJPA and later to I5800XXJPB.
Hope it helps for you!
@Megapaul
Thanks man ... I have downgrade ROM to I5800XXJG6 ...and It works nice ....I have try many ROMs....and with I5800XXJG6 my SG3 finaly works ....hehe...and now im gonna upgrade it to JPA hybrid

Phone screen black, fastboot loads ok.

Hi guys,
I recently tried to flash a rom on my phone and when the process was done, all I got was a black screen.
Fastboot still works and I can flash euro roms like on the tutorias fine but the phone simply wont boot.
I can go into emergency mode to flash in it in KDZ, the flashing works fine but still, the phone only displays a black screen.
When I press the power button it vibrates, the PC recognizes the device fine, so I know the phone isnt bricked, I just cant get it to display anything on the screen! please help!
Which rom did you try ?
Using swiftdroid RC4 2.0, but I found out what the problem was. Since on flashboot factory reset was in German, "reset und wipe" or something like that, I did not check it. Reflashed it and it is now working, the only problem is taht tehre are no boot animations whatsoever. only a black screen between pressing the button and going into android. any fix for that?
thank you for the replies!
EDIT: Also, by going into reboot > Recovery, nothing is displayed. this only happens on boot. I flashed originally with Euro+fast.kdz, and that is when this problem begun.
Flash this boot.img
and for the recovery, ace you installed??
I installed CWM for recovery, if that is what you asked.
Going to try to flash it and let you know, hope it does break anything
EDIT: nothing. No boot images. Going to leave it alone until I need it for something. I use an X10 mini, I just bought this phone for testing. Not liking the resistive screen!
you tried to flash an X10 with Rc4 ?
No, I have an X10 which is my default phone, I boght this optimus for testing, I flashed RC4 on the optimus, not the mini. not that stupid
You're not the only one with this problem, this will fix it.

Did you tried with another ROM ?
Yep, follow this... since I can't post links, I can't help......

[HELP] SM-G7102 Recovery Mode issue

Hello all, so today I downloaded 4.4.2 KitKat firmware from sammobile site, flashed it without backup or any **** (I've done it before on my tablet and worked like A CHARM) and "finally" got KitKat on my Grand 2 Duos. Then it all started happening after that:
I first started noticing some strange and weird bugs, like I can't lock the screen, notifications never get cleared, it felt like the phone got frozen.
It is known for sure that after I installed the firmware, the recovery mod that I had is gone and replaced with stock one, so I tried flashing a .tar file for rooting my phone (It was actually to use via recovery, not via flash... I lacked information back then), after flashing it, I could boot into recovery mode no more. Even after flashing the 4.4.2 firmware again, I even saw it installing a "recovery.img" file but with no good. When I try to boot into recovery mode it writes at the top "Could not do normal boot" and then "ODIN Mode" and the rest as I used to see before.
Then I started searching the web for solutions relating to the bugs I noticed earlier, found a thread instructing to remove battery, SIM card and microSD card, then re-installing them again except the microSD card... It actually fixed the stated bugs! But I still don't feel relaxed. I want to fix this (idk if this is called "bricked" or no!) issue about recovery mode, and get back to 4.3 as this scared me as f**k.
NOTE: I flashed CWM and TWRP .tar files that I already had, to no avail.
Now does ur mobile boot ? Or is it stuck in the logo ?

Well I already stated (if you read my whole thread) that it works normally, running 4.4.2 atm without microSD card inserted, it works like the past except for two points:
1- My root access is gone.
2- I can't reboot into recovery mode at all, no matter what I try.
Wow u screwed up ur recovery itself ....wow u r awesome ! Just check if it goes to download mode if it does then flash it again with the latest firmware .... After flashing immediately try going to recovery and if u do ..... do the reset and wipe cache

After I flash the firmware it automatically goes to a recovery screen, a progress bar gets filled then opens the Android system normally. After that when I try to go to recovery mode again it goes back to download mode again with the error text "Could not do normal boot".
Problem.... Fixed? .___.
Well for some reason on the third (and thought it's hopeless) attempt to flash the firmware again, I managed to open recovery mode after it, I was kissing the Reset Factory button.
As long as I find this weird, working on many attemps (maybe Samsung software itself fails?) I find this thread useless, thanks given to Sanjuujosephh! I inserted my microSD and it's working now, rebooted again into recovery and it's working as it should be.

Dear friend,
Try my rooting thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ps/galaxy-s5-mod-apps-kitkat-grand-2-t2821638
This is made specifically for the KitKat Grand 2.
The message "Could not do normal boot" came as a result of using 4.3 recovery on 4.4.2.
Do not ever attempt to revert to 4.3 as this will HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE'S MOTHERBOARD.

I'm a newbie but I fixed mine...
I've had this happen and it is frustrating to say the least. But I fixed it though. This is what I did: CAVEAT: Please read up all the FAQs, search the right firmware for your phone and the appropriate versions, KitKat vs Jelly Bean, etc. otherwise if your phone is bricked...don't blame me.
I have a 2nd-hand Galaxy Grand 2 and so warranty issues are a non-issue for me. All the files I've found were downloaded on this forum. I flashed ROM with my PC with Odin program installed.
I used Odin3 (v.3.07). (To install Odin program search the this forum). I also reflashed the recovery TWRP file "twrp_ms013g-build2.tar" Including the firmware G7102 Stock. My file was: G7102DDUBOB1_G7102ODDBOB1_G7102DDUBNK1_HOME.tar.md5. (Search for it.) Oh, you may want this file: CF-Auto-Root-ms013g-ms013gxx-smg7102.tar.md5 which may help with rooting your phone if you haven't already done so.
I did the Recovery 3-button Samsung phone groping procedure (you know what I'm talking about Volume Up/Down button + power + home button)... but to no avail...I keep getting that boot loop (Unable to normal boot...etc). You know that stupid "Downloading" Android logo (with the blue worded script on the top left-hand corner) with message ..."Downloading ...Do not unplug source..." Well, I plugged the USB cable to the phone to my computer and Odin program recognized it (it'll read "Added"). The phone didn't give any indications that it was doing anything. Btw, if your Odin program doesn't recognize your device then you should find out why it doesn't. If it recognized it before and you flashed with the Odin program before, I don't see why it won't recognize it now? Some say it's the USB cable but I can't logically accept that kind of superstitious BS. Come on, it's a copper/aluminum wire cable wrapped in pvc -- not a script. A cable is a cable is a cable. If it worked before, it'll work again unless it's cut inside the pvc tubing. You can use a digital multimeter to easily test that for continuity (albeit with really tiny leads to be able to connect to the mini USB side). Anyways, if your Odin program won't recognize your phone, maybe try using a lower version, or re-installing, or another similar type of program that will work. I'm assuming you did install the Samsung USB driver for your PC (e.g. mine is -v1.5.61.0 -search for your appropriate version) so that your computer will recognize your phone when cable is hooked up.
DON'T FORGET TO have the "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" boxes checked on the Odin program. Then select PAD button and browse for your TWRP file (above) and hit "Start." The Odin will flash it and you'll see a light blue bar under the Android logo (on your phone) that will go from left to right and when finished....whooooohooo the phone auto restarts back to your last OS state without losing any info on the phone. At least it worked for me. Hope that helps. Sorry for the long post.
hi i am in official android 4.3 on my g7102 and i wanna install a recovery file. but every recovery file i tested dosnt work on android 4.3. can you help me?
If u have knox bootloader do not try to downgrade just get kitkat one and in odin check phone bootloader update
Seems like u really guys screwed up the recovery. Somehow on my first try of flashing a zip file (recovery), i got stuck on download mode and wont boot normally. When I fixed the problem, the phone boots normally but the recovery is the only problem I got. I fixed this problem for about 10 days ago, all i did was to reflash the recovery again, orrr flash other version of the recovery (if the downloaded recovery version didnt work) or flash other recovery if the another recovery didnt work. Make sure the recovery is working on the version of you're phone (jelly, kk, lollipop, marshmallow or nougat) and working also on the model version.
I know this is an old thread but I hope this reply helped
hello guys.
first i will start with the beginning. i have a grand 2 duos g7102 phone. i rooted the phone and installed CWM recovery in order to flash custom rom CM 12.1 Lollipop 5.1.1 everything was running well until i upgraded to CM 14 Nougat 7.0 COSMO, i didn't like it and when i wanted to get in recovery mode again it stopped working. Now i can't boot in recovery mode at all. Not showing CWM recovery like before only recovery booting for few second and after that the dead android and No command and there is more writing down the screen like Supported API: 3 but it is hard to read because the screen is always flashing.
i someone faced this problem before please help !!!
thanks in advance
Guys guys i had the same problem with my grand 2 7102.
I rooted my phone and flashed a recovery via odin.
But as i press the button combos it says. Could not do normal boot.
So, i found a solution for it.
Downloaded flashify for play store.
Extracted img. File of twrp recovery provided in the grand 2 thread 😬,
Flashed it with flashify
And guess what i was in the recovery and after that no problem came with the recovery flashing 🙂
If you guys keep having problems with no-pc flashing, try the pc flashing cause this is the better way of flashing other than apps.
I had the could not do normal boot problem
Do this ...
Google cwm test 4.4 ms013g.tar and download it
Put it in PA or PDA uncheck autoreboot keep freset time checked
Flash the file then when you get pass message in odin , remove battery and reinsert it and go to recovery mode directly with vol up + power button.
NOTE : Don't try to normal boot to system

[Q] i9505 won't boot into recovery or Android after it was "washed"

Hello guys, after a extensive research I decided to post thia thread and ask for help.
I recieved this phone (i9505 international version) from my cousin after it was washed in a wash machine inside his pants pocket'.
He told me he had sent it to a repair shop to have it cleaned and repaired before he sent it to me.
I recieved it, charged it's battery on a externalismo charger, put it back and it turns on ok, but gets stuck on The boot screen with a little blue message on the top that says "recovery booting" and never changes from there.
So , i tried The obvious, downloaded a official ROM, and tried to flash it. Flash was sucessful but i still had the same problems with it getting stuck in The first boot screen with the little blue text at The top.
Then i tried flashing The ROM with a pit file to rebuild The partittions. Flash was sucessful again, no errors at all, but I still had the same problem getting stuck at The boot screen.
The I tried flashing a custom recovery.
Clockwork recovery got me a error screen after i flashed it saying something got wrong during flash ask me to flash again.
Reflashed The oficial ROM with the pit file, tried again, same error. Had to reflash again.
Then I tried twrp.
This time something went different. I was still stuck at The boot screen, but The blue text changed to a red/orange 3 line text saying something like "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing".
I've read that this hás something to do with a locked bootloader and knox security.
Also, I've read that some people had this problems when their /data partition got corrupted.
So, I could not clear or format the data partition because I can't get into the recovery. The pit file never touches /data, and I don't really know if flashing the oficial ROM is enough to fix any problems in /data.
I have no idea if the data on /EFS is still OK.
And I'm still stuck with this problem.
Does anyone have any idea what else I can try in order to unbrick this phone?
I think the 3 possible problems are:
Corruption on /data
Corruption on /EFS (still it should boot)
Something wrong with bootloader vs rom version or region or something with Knox security.
Oh, I Aldo tried flashing another modem/radio. Got the same "something went wrong while flashing, try again" error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if you find any typos, I'm fighting my word corrector (which is in pt-br) as I type this from my phone (n7000).
PS: flashed Samsung 4.4.2 zto (brazil) to the i9505
Another possibility is that the volume rocker shorted and when holding power it is also holding volume. Therefore booting recovery. I would check this by removing the volume rocker ribbon from the board and powering on. I know it sounds silly but could be the problem
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
I openned the phone a few minutes ago to check this. Acctualy the button is soldered into the mainboard. I wasn't able to disconnect it.
I get a new multimeter (mine broke a few weeks ago) and check the contacts, but I don't think this is the problem, because if it was just a problem with a key getting stuck it should still boot into the recovery and do something, but it's not the case, it gets stuck in the bootscreen before booting and never really enters the recovery.
and when I go into download mode, there is a screen that asks me to presse vol up to go into download mode or vol down to cancel, I acctually have to press vol up to enter download mode, so it's probably not the problem. Thanks for the sugestion tho'.

Whenever this happens always keep calm have patience and don't get tensed , it happens with many people , it's normal . Now what everyone does when this happens is flash the stock firmware via Odin , just follow the above procedure by grohitsurana it takes time , (like 10-15 mins ) but it will recover your phone.
No need to freak out ! bootloops are no stranger to us all ! grohitsurana perfectly explained what you need to do ! good luck and relax !

But although it worked fine it took up a lot of space i feel. I have a grand 2 with 8 gb internal memory. But now i am accesible only to 5.1 gb. I dont think it was this less earlier.
Did i do a mistake somewhere...? I did a cache wipe and factory reset before installing the new stock firmware...
Help me out guys!
Thanking you in advance
