Hi to all...
I've just unbranded and than updated my HTC Legend to Froyo following procedures that i've found in the forum...
My tasks have also included to downgraded it to 1.31 because impossible to succed with the "simple" one even if the bootloader version was 0.43.xxxx.
Btw, after have downgraded it I've run the OTA and installed 2.1 and then re-used the procedure to upload a froyo version...
What I'm asking now is : I'll have to refollow the entire procedure to root my phone? Need I use a specific rom to keep my Legend rooted? Are there No chances to root it without doing again all the steps?
cheers and thx
If you have rooted once, you should not be able to upgrade OTA...
What version of HBOOT do you currently have?
Hboot is 1.01.0000
After have downgraded to 1.31 I succeed to OTA to 2.01 (or 2.1, not sure about that) but than failed another OTA to 2.2
Then I've used the .exe found on the forum to update to froyo.

well then if you want to root, you'll have to do all that again, preferrably following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894465
Will try it
Thx for the support!

Hi,
Is there a way of rooting a wildfire with hboot 1.01.0001?
Downgrate... goldcard... any method!
No
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Short Answer is NO , s0rry to be the bearer of bad news , lolz gonna have to wait till someone figures it out , thats why i never flash an RUU or OTA upgrade unless i KNOW what its goin to do
this is soo funny, people wait to get official froyo, then they want to root. instead they could have rooted before and get a custom froyo rom anyway.
And there were many warnings not to update to the OTA or RUU unless a newer method came out.
Bad luck guys

Rooting HTC Wildfire (firmware too new ???)
Hi,
I have the same update
H BOOT-1.01.0001
NOV.17.2010
I manage to install usb driver via Speedy0339
ONLY THAT WAY I MANAGE TO INSTALL H BOOT USB driver!!!
Then I run UNREVOED3
When I run UNREVOED3 process starts:
1. installs unrevoed 3 and reboot phone,
2. Then he starts rooting a.......and then :::::::::::::
3. SEE attached file [Error: Failed to get root. Is your firmware too new? ]
Root with Unrevoked
Unrevoked as we speak are trying to root the new Froyo update for the wildfire.
as the change log says.
v3.31:
Backed ClockworkMod down to 2.x series on EVO 4G; now 2.6.0.1.
Still has new kernel. Still has WiMAX key backup. Now supports amend scripting again.
ROM authors: fix your ROMs! Support will go away again in 3.x.x.x: Koush has a good thread explaining the reason why.
Improved compatibility with Android 2.1 (fixes “am reported error starting service”).
Increased root timing window (fixes “failed to get root” on supported devices).
v3.3:
Fix for latest EVO 4G OTA (3.70.651.1) and EVO 4Gs with new versions of HBOOT (2.02 and 2.10).
Switched exploits for all platforms; hopefully more reliable than rageagainstthecage
Updated ClockworkMod, with plenty of new features:
3.0.0.2 for EVO 4G, which has a new kernel (for better WiMAX safety), and supports WiMAX key backup
2.5.1.2 for Incredible, which supports SLCD
No update for Wildfire yet; sorry. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Only Snow Leopard is supported in the OS X build.
No update for Wildfire yet; sorry
maybe in the next update they seam to update pretty quick its just a waiting game now.

If you've read the thread, you would know that there is no way to root that HBOOT version. Unrevoked 3 currently only works on the stock HBOOT.

Solution for downgrade is not working. At least, untill a temp root exploit will be found for this new hboot.

I just recently bought my Wildfire, Never thought of rooting it till i found HBoot by mistake was just messing around i am also on HBoot-1.01.0001 like its said so many times on here root can't be done, i was messing with that z4root app on it and on temp it doesn't error out only on perm it does. So does this mean the temp root works ?
If so is there anyway you could flash with a temp root please bare with me i am a Linux person and the Andriod OS is Linux in a sense but Andriod is new to me and as such this might sound noobish.
Ye, we're getting a few questions about this, and I just kinda assumed it was possible. But I'm not so sure now, so can it even be done?
ya im wondering this too...although wont be rooting until a stable gingerbread comes out...
Yes it is possible. In the blayo's instructions how to upgrade HBOOT to 1.00, you can find the method, which gives you a root access. I've managed to root my legend, after accidantly updating it to official stock froyo rom

You mean to downgrade from 1.01 or to upgrade from 0.43? , what threads did you use to manage this process? , I've got an Hboot version of 1.01, Software version 3.15.707.3 (I think it's different from yours) do you think my requirements might work with your rooting methods as well?;o
Yes you can root HBOOT 1.01 I have done it following blay0's guide. You have to downgrade from froyo then root as usual then flash rooted froyo rom.

A guide has now been made and posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845512
This is the thread, just read the Prerequirements and Rerequirements, then follow the instructions for Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.00. It is true that this thread gives you instrucions how to upgrade HBOOT and keep root, but with froyo ota installed, you already have upgraded HBOOT, so this instrucions here are just for rooting it.
Good luck
Hi guys,
tomorrow my Desire HD finally arrives, i've been doing some research into rooting ect and would like to ask a few questions .....
1) whats the best root method? i take it unreovked dosent work on the HD, ive read visionary works for permroot, i thought visionary was for the G2 not HD is this correct?
2) whats the diffence between, bootloader s-off and radio s-off ..... on the desire we only have bootloader s-off
3) my desire HD will be orange branded, if it comes with a newer software version , with an unrootable hboot, can i downgrade easlly to an older software version?
4) and finally how do you guys find the multi touch on the HD?, the lack of multi touch is one of the main reasons im upgrading.
thanks for you help
I followed the guide in the Development section to root my DHD and S-OFF, it's pretty easy to follow
I don't know anything about downgrading hboot or that stuff.
The multi-touch on my device is crap:
I shot a video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj5z08CC5AQ
Most times 2 points work, but with 3 and 4 points the sensor is going crazy!

thats the guide i read, its always daunting rooting a new device isnt it nooooo dont say that the website said the hd support 4 point multi touch aslong as you dont get the axis flipping and it supports 2 touches though i'll be happy
if you are wanting to root your desire HD first check what firmware is already installed if its 1.72.405.3 this can't be rooted yet but if its still has older firmware 1.32.405.3 you are fine and you can root with Visionaryr14. so don't update your phone(if you have older firmware) to any new firmware until you are radio s-off.
if you do have 1.72.405.3 firmware you can now downgrade it to older firmware read thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
but you will need installed on pc htc sync drivers which you can download from HTC site also need android sdk tools (need adb) which can be found here http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html need
also been branded you will needed to make a goldcard on your sdcard to be able to downgrade but in the thread above the is a link to show how its done.
just hope you have older firmware on phone.
sorry matey didn't really read you post, different between the s-off's radio s-off is were its sercurity premanently off and eng s-off is were the h-boot has been patch telling the radio the sercurity is off.
If it comes with 1.72 or 1.75 firmware root I'd not availiable....Yet!

thanks guys, i'll just have to wait till tomorrow to see what software version comes with my HD, i hope i wont have too much trouble rooting or downgrading tho, i have the htc drivers installed and im familiar with adb, thanks for your help
you should have no problems been able to downgrade then. you may want to use this ruu http://xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/RUU_A....140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_157531_signed.exe
as your PM98IMG.zip as it orange uk so may not need to make a goldcard.
Just to keep your hopes up i only got mine on friday it had the older firmware on.
i soon s-off and eng -s off, now i can not stop flashing roms finding the one i like best. i would say thou if you plan to flash up to the 1.72 rom dont flash a new custom kernel...yet
Thamks for all your help guys, i got my DHD earlier today, and it only took me 10 minutes to root and s-off it came with software version 1.40, i used visionary to root it, then used the one click radio s-off tool to s-off now im gunna download rom manager and flash cwm
Nice no having to downgrade enjoy

can I install the cn froyo and then follow the instructions for rooting cn froyo....
since both the OTA n cn froyo are based on stock froyo...
I guess they might have the same bootloader version...

Did you know, that the latest update OTA updates HBOOT and makes all old exploitations useless?
yes I do perfectly understand the consequences of doing an OTA update......
I read that HTC upgraded the HBOOT and the bootloader....
when I tried to run the ruu of stock eclair....it gave an error regarding bootloader version....
now the question is will the ruu of cn froyo work on froyo since both are based on the stock froyo...?
do they have the same bootloader?
I think they do

Ok, my wildfire has hboot 1.01.0001 and it got S-OFF via the XTC Clip....anyway, unrevoked (latest version ive downloaded from the enurevoked site) still cant root the phone (i keep on getting the "is your firmware to new" message over and over).
What to do to get it rooted now?
What I did was to install an older ruu from the shipped rom website. After you did install it you should be able to use unrevoked.
Success

however, it says it cant find the update.zip on the sdcard (and the file is present)

Which one, there are kinda many out there?
Why make it difficult for yourself put an older ruu and then use unrevoked. It's a little more work but if you are not sure what you do then it is the best way.

The method posted at:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000367
worked, rooted now )))))
getting S-OFF in your device is what u need to root froyo wildfire. once u have got S-OFF, u can root wildfire in two ways
1.noobs guide to root wildfire froyo official
2.flashing an older android 2.1 rom update utility, so that u can root with unrevoked software.
regarding the process of noobs guide, u can search here in the wildfire xda forum to know the process. it uses super one click method to root the phone.
and regarding the second process, im describing it here.
once u have got S-OFF in your device, then it is possible to downgrade your bootloader. only do this with official ROM UPDATE UTILITY. donot do it with any other process. go to the website
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/
there download ur region rom exe file. the most important thing is to download a android 2.1 rom. donot download the froyo rom. then make the ROM UPDATE UTILITY. at the end of that process u will get an official 2.1 on ur device with downgraded bootloader (0.80). then root ur phone with an updated version of unrevoked. thats all.
i dont know whether S-OFF persists after the official RUU.
