I tried searching the forums and couldn't find this anywhere so I thought I'd ask here:
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the bubble style MMS in the froyo builds on 2.1? I used to have DK28 but downgraded to DI18 for stability and really miss that bubble style. Any help would be appreciated.

have you tried handcent sms?
Yes, Handcent is what I'm using now but the Froyo MMS had a very Touchwiz look which is what I was after. I guess I'll hve to settle for Handcent until official Froyo is released.

Is anyone having an issue with the keyboards with the 2.2 dk28 update? The stock android keyboard and samsung keypad no longer has auto-complete, quick fix or show suggestions.
If anyone can help, please do!
Thanks!

Right now mammons but I have this issue with all dk28 roms. Am I the only one?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Nope. All 2.2 roms don't have auto-complete for whatever reason. Best bet is to flash the Gingerbread keyboard...it has it.
Thanks guys, I thought it was just me.

Have you even tried this? I'm 99% sure this is not particular to mdj's build. It's an option on hyperdroid gingerbread, and that doesn't even have cyanogen.

I have been running tytungs 1.9 nexus build and I have had problems with mms not sending and just hanging. I have had that problem for a while. I installed go sms and did a test mms through "go sms" to my wife's phone and it worked just fine. This may not help you but it fixed my issue. I have not tried to send it through the regular sms client though. I dont know if it will work on the GB build or not though.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, I believe that fix will only apply to sense ROMs. You can try though, just make sure you back up first

I did read...and I apologize, The custom user agent settings were on both Gingerbread builds I've used, so I assumed it was stock...if the build you're using doesn't have those settings it doesn't mean I "dnt" read.
If I were you I "wud" flash a different build.
go sms fix
I have found if you disable the "auto retrieve" setting in the htc sms app , and use the GO sms app to download the pictures it will work fine, at least it did for me! if I turn on the auto retreive it will down load small and blurry, so this setting may be the answer ( the dev team actually wants you to turn this setting on ??!! )
Wondering if anyone's ever seen a metamorph/flashable zip Swype theme that resembles Gingerbread (black and green). I'm on the latest official beta, not sure if older themes will flash over without breaking anything, so yeah. Swype is literally the only part of my phone that doesn't look like Gingerbread.
Thanks :]
Not that this is any help but i know that looks on a rom called liberty for the droid x there is a swype keyboard that looks Exactly like the gingerbread keyboard. Its amazing so ill try and extract it from rom

Any updates on this? I oddly enough have a DX and D2 but am using a different rom and I'd rather not switch just for the themed keyboard.
I im currently working on this. But can anyone tell me where to locate the swype apks in phone I can't find them in data/app

NO, Bionix is 2.2 based.
Frost is 2.2.1 based.
I'm sorry, but this ROM was terrible, for me, at least. It had incredible lag, to say the least. It wouldn't boot anything in less than a minute. I'm going back to Bionix until this is better.
for me it was all good especially after the update...its running very smooth...the only problem i have is the voicemail notification problme....anyone???
I just straight flashed from bionix v1.2.1 to Frost full-wipe and haven't had such problems. GPS and maps are working, and no lag on menu. This ROM feels more smooth than bionix v1.2.1.
Same here everything is perfect no problems after da update and now my vibrant is faster then ever I love this forst im goin to use it intil miui is done.....

I made a lot of tweaks for speed after the initial release. So if you only tried Frost before the update id suggest downloading it again.
As far as vm notifications, ill check it out tomorrow.

Vm notifications have to do with the visual voicemail app. I personally use gvoice so I never noticed it but people report it works now after adding it back in.

EDIT: Oops, didn't notice you say you aren't rooted. Well, if you ever do root, you can use the AOSP ("vanilla Android") or CyanogenMod versions of the messaging apps.

Where is this CyanogenMod messaging app you speak of?
Handcent is so laggy once you have used GO SMS Pro. I don't get why people are STILL recommending it. I wouldn't use either laggy Handcent or the underdeveloped ChompSMS.
Only problem I have with GO SMS Pro is the childish themes. But I just use the dark theme anyways.
I really haven't had an issue with the stock SMS app. Do most people toss it away because of the lack of features or what?

Yeah. I mainly like the popup. The stock SMS app is already really good as it is, but I like more customization.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. I have used Go SMS before and I did like the pop up feature as well.
if i remove the stock sms app will go sms still work?
Actually, you can keep using the stock app if you just want a popup/quickreply feature, download an app called sms popup.

It comes with CM7. I believe it has been posted to these forums somewhere, but if searching doesn't net you any results, you can just extract the Mms.apk from the zip file of ÇM7 pre-beta for this device. As I mentioned, you have to be rooted (as far as I know) as it's a system app. Back up your texts first using SMS Backup or similar from the market.

I use the Mms.apk from /system/app of CM7.3 Stable for the EVO and for the N1. They are different file sizes and I found the N1 had more features. (strange I know) plus it is for a GSM phone, EVO is a CDMA. Anyway point is that AOSP Mms.apk is pretty generic and you can pull it and the alarm clock, the calculator, the Email.apk CarHome.apk and a few other apps. Some will just install some require you copy/paste into the /system/app/ Folder.
FYI I just tried Mms.apk, I am rooted but it installed just like any app. So you should be able to just install it, No Root needed.
Interesting...did it install as a system app or a normal app (did the package manager install the apk to /system/app or to /data/app)?
I like the stock blur SMS app as well because of it's simpleness, but on Alien 4 it will not resize attachments so I use Handcent, been using Handcent for some time now (even when I was using CM7 on my Aria) and have never had a problem with it. I've tried others and have always gone back to Handcent. The wake lock you speak of, please elaborate...I have not notice my phone not idling or anything while using Handcent.
The stock mms.apk that comes with CM7 is nice if you like the barebones look, I don't and that's why I like the blur sms app, it is not so bare (although it is very short on settings).
