No idea why, I changed themes (still a DJ05 theme) and it competely wigged. So now its time to odin back to complete stock and build back up because regardless of restoring backups, it comes back up completely stock. lovely right?
Did you have voodoo installed?

I tried it Odin isn't recognize the device.
He's not in download mode anymore, this is just the phone telling you it doesn't have a connection to a machine to get boot informaion from and that there is no firmware to boot it self from.
Do a battery pull and read one of the other 99 threads with the same title as yours.

I did they all say pull the battery and hold both volume keys till you get into Download Mode (which isn't happening) then flash a new ROM. And those post are for other galaxy devices haven't seen one for the Epic.
what did you do before this happened?

You don't hold down the volume keys on the epic. You open the keyboard and hold the 1 key and the power at the same time. That will put you into download mode. Than odin should recognize your device.

Reboot computer and phone. Try a different USB port, try a different USB cable. Phone MUST be in download mode for this to work. Keep trying, if it fails, exit Odin, open it again and keep trying. Be sure to unplug and replug the USB cable between Odin attempts.
Some people have had success by removing the SD card prior to using Odin.
Keep trying, it can take multiple attempts before it works.
Its working Thanks your the best...

issues with Odin
I ran into a lot of issues getting Odin to flash the stock ROM on my Epic, including Odin errors, and Odin hanging on " SetupConnection..", but here's what I did to finally get this to work:
-pulled battery and SD card from Epic
-launched Odin just after a reboot of PC
-plugged into PC via USB and held power and the 1 key to get Epic into download mode (SD card and battery still pulled)
-used PIT: victory_8G_100528.pit
-used tar (in PDA section): SPH-D700-DG27-8Gb-REL.tar
-only had the option "auto-reboot" selected
With this scenario, I was finally able to get my Epic back to stock. Thanks to everyone who posted before me on this subject.
On a side note, I'm not 100% whether or not my phone was bricked, but it wouldn't get past the initial Samsung boot screen after I had tried to install some non standard software.
My Epic has been bricked and i need help.
I was trying to root my fone using one step brick. but it kept hanging. So i tried to upgrade to 2.2 using the upgrade.zip method. The phone wouldnt get past the samsung screen. So then I tried using ODEN and then that kept getting stuck at factoryfs.rfs. So then I read that I can try repartitioning a pit file and then now its saying this:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..

A LOT more detail about what you are trying to do, what you started with, etc etc etc would be helpful.
Was the phone working before?
Are you just trying to update it?
What ROM did you have before? Stock or custom?
Give us the bigger picture here.
If your phone was working before then what you've done shouldn't have killed anything. Pull the battery and reboot and it should start up as normal.
The next thing I'd try (After the 2 things I've already suggested that you didn't check yet) is to uncheck REBOOT AUTOMATICALLY in Odin. When it fails, immediately run the update again. See what happens then.
HELP!
i have before make this Cyanogen mod 10.2 and then i decided to flash to stock rom
now i make an Fullwipe per CWM and then i took The tar of the firmware of my old stock version.
now my phone stuck at end of downloadmode (i'm too scared to pull off battery)
and odin says fail blablabla
CMOD had android 4.3.1 and i took I9505jtexx... 4.4.2

As long as Odin isn't actively writing to the device, nothing will happen with a battery pull.
You shouldn't have full wiped the phone prior to this.
And please don't make multiple threads to discuss the same thing.
Just try the things I've suggested so far.
I was flashing root(was already rooted) and because i had an bad USB cable it failed midway and now the phone is stuck in "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select Recovery mode in Kies & try again." I learned that i have to flash stock ROM to restore my phone but i dont know what was my latest update (I know its either G900FXXS1CPK1 or G900FXXS1CPLV) before i rooted the phone. Can I just flash the newest version?

yes, but sometimes samsung sneaks some stuf fin that you dont want, so you could try the older version first and all that would happen if it doesnt like that one is fail in odin, then youd just go to the most recent one

i only grabbed the uk version because you mentioned the baseband in your post which was a UK version. Its the g900f, so it should be able to accept that version. I think the only difference is the radios and default language. But if you go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares, you can select whichever version you actually need
there is a dropbox above the tar download links thatll allow you to choose whiever one you actually need

id definitely try a different cable and make sure that you dont touch the cable, phone or computer while its doing its thing. Since its borked anyways and wont boot, its not likely that youll make it any worse by trying odin again or even repeatedly. Also, did you download the oldest baseband of the same android version you were running? Thats also pretty important

Oh, no trouble at all! I'm just glad that you got it working man!!
Having a difficult time here.... I've got a Galaxy s8 Sprint variant.. I downloaded the Beta one UI firmware, not official just used ODIN. I'd like to go back to stock and update to newest official release, or just go straight to the latest release. I don't care if it's rooted/unlocked or whatever just stock Sprint software. I've tried a couple of stock firmwares but I keep getting errors in Odin. Currently I"m on PDA G950U1UEU5ZSAB CSCG950U1OYM5ZSAB .
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

2 things I can see
1. Use Odin version 3.13.1 it supports the new compression format of newer firmware.
2. The software check fail is due to trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. You will need to download firmware with a bootloader version 5 ( 5th number from right of firmware(PDA) name ).
OP can you confirm if it worked?
Hey, THanks a ton.. worked! I don't think I woulda figured that out unless I would have happened to tried a rom with the correct bootloader version. Really appreciate it. One more thing.. which should I use normally.. the home_csc or the csc. I've been using the home one since that's what I see a majority of people using but I don't see any explanation.
thanks again!
