In your phone dialer type: *#*#4636#*#*
This code can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows following 4 menus on screen:
Phone information
Battery information
Battery history
Usage statistics
Try it but I suggest you don't modify anything you are not sure. Use it for view only unless you are sure and you take notes of what you modify (although there's not much to modify)
keys also spell *#*#INFO#*#*
similar to the update check combination of *#*#CHECKIN#*#*
There in first line have fue setting, interesting what they can do...
Sent from my Desire HD
There also the *#*#3424#*#* code which launches the HTC Function Test Program which allows you to test functions of the phone.

It you open Phone from the home screens, then choose the bottom right icon, you should be directed to a Call History screen. For call duration, hold your finger over one entry and chose View detailed call history.

If you mean call duration, goto Call History and select the one you want to see.
Yes....all call duration...i can not see that menu...
In the Call window/screen just press Menu then you will find it.. or press Favorite icon from Call screen then you will find History icon too.
wrong section
On the mytouchslide I can just dial the name of the person I want to speak with on the g2 I cannot anyway to change this?
That is sense feature. I will miss it when I ditch my EVO and goto the G2. I am not sure if other Dialers will do the same thing.....
There are a few apps for this. I personally like "Star Contacts." I believe another one was "Dialer One."

I use Star Contacts as well.
Ah yes, one of many features that I miss from my slide. That and the full weather animation.

Do any of these programs change the way the dialer looks. I don't want a change in the look just the feature
My suggestion would be to just tap the search button, type the name in there, and click the dial icon.

No. Here's Star Contacts. Once you get the contact on screen, you click the contact. From there you can call, text or email the contact.
It also provides some enhancements of the call log that I prefer to the standard call log. You get the exact time of the call, not "3 days ago" and you also get the duration of the call in hours, minutes and seconds.
why not use the search button? no really on the phone. you tap the button then type the name and it will look for it in your contacts and you click to dial.
You can get weather animation with beautiful widgets.

lets say you just called them an hour ago, and want to dial them back again
isntead of hitting a total of 2 buttons to call them again, in order to type in their name, you're going to have to do at least 3, and more depending on how long your contact list is, to an average of about, lets say 5.
that would mean a 150% increase in keystrokes...
If you just called them an hour ago (not sure how often *you* make phone calls) they should be near the top of your recent calls...
i use Dialer One, which is similar to the HTC Dialer and has swiping from page-to-page for recents/favs/contacts.
Also, getting a shortcut to the program where you can get to it quickly might help too. If you haven't checked out replacement launchers/homes in the market, I'd suggest it.

What nolsen311 said... Your situation is solved by stock software. I don't think the issue is recent calls, but simply searching for peeps. The stock search button works well.
cant you just flash it and install Desire Z rom?
Can't you just... open the keyboard, type the name, tap the profile image, tap the phone icon (first one)? It's not so complicated.
Works perfect for me!
to the OP... i'm hooked on the HTC Sense way of searching/dialing (T9 "spelling" out a contact's name)
i really like Dialer One - its *very* similar to the Sense interface, if that's what you're coming from
also, a couple times i had an idea for an improvement so i emailed the guy and he fixed it right away - pretty cool!
(ps... that star contacts looks pretty slick - i might just give that a try too!)

For the weather animation and Sense style weather clock widget, check out "Weather and Toggle Widget" by Android Apps in the market. It costs a couple of bucks, but works great. A true Sense style clock and weather widget with full screen animations on stock Android.
If you get it, to get the Sense style to it, download the H7C Clock and H7C Weather themes for it, and the Weather Widget Forecast Addon by Android Apps for the animations.
I haven't seen a thread for this yet, so I thought I would share. After installing Launcher Pro, I was playing around with the shortcuts and Activities. Under Call settings there is a hidden menu named "All Calls". If you create a shortcut you will have access to the auto reject call menu and will have the ability to enter phone numbers, or select numbers from the call history, that should be automatically rejected. The nice thing about it is the phone doesn't ring or vibrate. Since I forward my office line to my cell, I get a lot of solicitors and its great to be able to dump them automatically.

Nice find. I wish I would have discovered this sooner. I actually bought "Group to Voicemail" on the Market a few weeks ago because I needed this functionality. Oh well. It's a nice app and the dev seems cool.
LOL...
i just noticed this menu is NOT in the epic..lol
this is a regular menu in all other android phones i had use, such as the moto droid and the nexus one
Define how I am supposed to find something "hidden". Kinda confusing. I have Launcher Pro isntalled and see nothing about this under settings/call settings. Wanna elaborate?
Go to a blank spot onto your phone. Tap as if you were going to add a widget or shortcut. Go into shortcuts, activies, call settings, and tap all calls. It will create a shortcut which u go into and will see the auto reject feature.
I believe you must have LauncherPro. This is not in the settings menu.

You have to enter the number without any dashes or spaces.
"Cell Broadcast SMS" looks interesting.

No you don't have to leave it on the home screen, but it makes it easier to add more numbers later if you do. Personally, I have a folder on my home screen that contains that shortcut and shortcuts to other apps and settings I frequently use.
Metallica76 - thanks for clarifying those additional steps. My apologies everyone for not being more specific on the actual steps for creating the shortcut.
Now if I can just find the "send to voicemail" option everyone says is in the contacts settings, which clearly is not there.

As far as I can tell, this can be done through any launcher, even the TouchWiz launcher.

You can also press the icon next to the entry field to add a number from your contact list or from your call log (although you will have to remove any dashes included).
When I first setup my phone, I was asked which app I wanted to use for calls. I just chose the stock dialer, I decided I really don't like it but the phone doesn't show in the app manager and people doesn't show it as the default.
Do I need to factory reset my phone to change this?
I would say go into the current dialer settings under app and clear it's defaults

I've noticed something annoying with the dialer on the HTC 10 that was never an issue on my HTC One M8.
I often like to answer an incoming call, and immediately move the call to speakerphone, before even saying, "Hello." With the M8 I could press the "answer call" button, and immediately press the speakerphone button and say, "Hello." With the HTC 10, however, after pressing the button to answer the call, the speakerphone button is not immediately available. There is a delay of perhaps 1-2 seconds before I can select the speakerphone button. Are others experiencing the same thing? If so, does anyone have a solution?

Go to Settings - Apps. Top right side is 3 dots... Hit that then choose Configure Apps. In there you would see Set Default. In there you can choose the Google Dialer as the default Phone app.
I've just tried this and the default dialer changes from Sense To Google. However, when in a call, none of the Google Dialer buttons work. The mute does not mute. The speakerphone does not turn on the speakers. Oh, and the phone also rings silently. When trying to change the notifications, it says this app does not have permission to change system settings...

That is it, however, weird I picked contacts+ as my dialer but it still goes to the HTC dialer, I guess I'll have to wait for Verizon to get rooted and Roms to come available to switch it out. Thank you for the help
Is there anyway to get a full screen when someone calls or make the picture a little big then the stock dialer app does?
Go to the Network tab and then the Call tab and then it is up at the top, you have 3 options, pop up, second screen, or full screen
