Hey folks,
just got my HD2 from eBay and it seems like a Vodafone-branded Version ... Vodafone Logo is displayed at startup. I´m using a T-Mobile SIM, so it´s unlocked at least.
Well, I read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
... and I don´t want to brick my "little" new phone ... so here is some information:
SPL 1.42.0000
Flash 512 MB
OS 1.2.21864
Manila 2.5.19202525.0
ROM 1.44.162.6 (70494) GER
Radio 2.04.50.22
I tried this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937 and at startup it just did nothing while showing "Jumping to Kernel (custom)" ... yes at that all and it won´t do more
Can someone help me ?
... OK, this thread is kinda nice lol:

Start here mate...

You just need to up your radio. Forget HSPL - you're just wasting your time, unless you need to do it for the radio upgrade.
EDIT: Just checked and there's a Vodafone version of the latest ROM. It comes with the latest radio that is perfect for running Android.
http://www.htc.com/de/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=1071
quick question: if I want to remove the branding, I just have to flash a unbranded update via SSPL?
Yes. If you want to flash an unbranded ROM then you'll need to update SPL, but if you're running Android then it won't matter
I strongly recommend the latest ROM. I've been using it since it was released and I've had 0 problems with it.
thanks ;-) I´ve had an HTC Hero with Android 2.2 and now I see this WM 6.5 ... and it´s such a crap lol, oh well.
I installed the latest Vodafone-ROM and now I´ll copy Android to the SD and take a look ... next thing will be the bootloader and I´ll update this thread then lol.

Sounds like you're sorted mate. Have fun
... so I just tried this ROM (Desire Z) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937 and it froze ... oh well, now I´m waiting for an MIUI-ROM to boot
Don't know if you know, but it may need to create a disk image the first time you boot, and this can take quite a while.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
... hey there again folks ... played some with the MIUI and I kinda like it ... but I have a "little" problem ... the sound stops working after some time
will use the search, but yesterday I found nothing
... oh boy I have to say, that it´s pretty hard when you can a device some time after it´s launch date. yeah.
well, I´m going to stick to SD-builds for now, keeping NAND in my head and I like the fakt of killing Windows Mobile of my HD2 ;-)
OK, cyall folks and try to help the noobs a little bit more

Hi All
I have just flashed my HD2 for the first time useing
Leo 1.48 ROMs
New radio, SYS of 21869 (as far as I can tell, pretty much identical to the TEST 1.48 ROMs...)
WWE
ELL (Greek)
PTG
I am sure all went well with no problems, however I have noticed I am missing my HTC Contactes on the Home Scrren Tabs. I went to start & found HTC Messages / HTC Calendar / People / Music / Footprints / Peep. I am sure before the flash I had HTC Contacts?????
I have also tried to tidy the Start page up by creating folders and moving programs through Explorer which seems to work ok, However I created a Folder called HTC Programs and moved all the above into this folder all went ok. I rebooted the Device and when I head back into Start Menu the above programs have returned & also they are also located in the HTC Programs folder that I created. I have tried Cut & Paste with no luck.
I am sure its something I have done wrong, however any help would be great.
Thanks

Your fist problem.... Have you tried a Hard Reset After Flashing the ROM... And please confirm that whether it's a TEST Rom ??? If so you can leave it alone...
Second problem.... I also have this problem... so dont worry mate, it's seemed like that is the default option of the ROM....
Hi Thanks for the quick replay
I must admit I did not do a Hard Reset after flashing the Rom. Do you think its worth doing now & may sort this problem out with the HTC Contacts.
Also not sure if this is a Test Rom..... Whats the difference with the Test Roms to the one I may have installed

Ok.... It's better for you Hard Reset after each flash.... even twice ... If the problem still there you have to concern about download progress .. It's possible when you download and there are some thing make your file become "bad".... so you have a bad flash... You should re flash it or re- download.
Yes, there are much different between Test Rom and Official ROM... You better use the Official ROM... because it's the most stable for daily use. And if that was a Test Rom...so it's not full functional mate... If you are in Europe .. I recommend you flash back the Shipped ROM from WWE or EU... and wait for some days cause a new WWE ROM is coming soon though... so take your time... and cheers
TIP: When you flash a new ROM ... let take a look around all the function whether it works or there is still a bug, do not setting up everything cause it wastes your time... For safety, you should use the Official ROM from HTC... because it's reliable for your daily activities.
By the way... you should use Microsoft My Phone to back up your data. I know there are some applications can back up well but there will be the error to your device if the Core Function like (HTC SENSE) in latest ROM is the newer version compare to the previous. There will be somethings not compatible together... So let make your decision mate.... Happy Flashing
Wow thanks for the update and quick responce....Just one more question if you dont mind.
Where would I find the Official Rom from HTC as I have been to the Website and you can not download due to Serial Number or something like that. I am located in England if thats any help.
You have been off great help

Ok... here is the rapidshare link for the HTC Official ROM 1.48.405.2 click here
And I also include the latest radio 2.07 as I Know it is a very good radio for HD2 atm ...After flash the ROM... quickly take out your battery and do a Hard Reset, then try to flash the RADIO ... it's also like the way you flash the ROM mate... then hard reset again and boot up the device Then take a look over the functions in the ROM... but it's shipped ROM.. so dont worry
Tip: you should remove your storage card while upgrading the ROM...
Thanks very much for all your help. At present Rapidshare is not allowing me to Download as no free slots. Ah well will keep on trying maybe it will let me in soon.
Thanks again for the update and information

Oh no..... it's weird.... mine work fine... everything work in order as the previous shipped ROMs... I think you should hard reset the phone... take out the SD card... and see how it works again...If this cant sorted it out maybe you need to reflash or re-download the ROM though....and hard reset 2 or 3 times after flash... Just hard reset and take out the battery and hard reset again.. just make sure everything "clean" after flashing new ROM...
Ok... I give you the official link on the htc home page , so you can download the real Official ROM just go there and insert the Serial here HT9AZNW00968 then download the WWE ROM....
Hi I am new with HD2 had a HTC TytneII for a few years. it finally died.
OK as I new to HD2 am used the way my old HTC worked..
I like the idea of sense but its a telco cook... and full of stuff I will never ever use.
I have looked at installing either MaesusLeo_23529_v1.4_cleaned or EuLeo_V1.1_Full_WWE.
aside from HSPL, IS there anything I will need to do as telstra unit in australia?
also will it viod my warrenty. if I put a cooked rom on?
But I'm not sure which would be best for me. as one has the gig hack, do I really need that?
Both look good and have a few nice things bundled into them..
If there is something that the telstra bundle has in it how can I get it back..
what is the Manila I see in a number posts?
as telstra customer do I need to change the radio if I put a cooked rom on?
what HSPL would use.. ?? I'm ib Australia (obviously being telstra) I only speak english I think I have downloaded english version of the two cooked roms I'm trying to deside on...
OK update....
I have successfully HSPL -> installed cooked rom MaesusLeo_23529_v1.4_cleaned
all seems ok so far

Will this process damage the phone? I heard the hardware is different for Taiwanese version (from the customer service in Taiwan)
I called HTC customer service they wont help me!!, I bought wrong I thought is easy to change language. I wish I knew
Thanks for your help
uhm, by reading the Tutorials in this forum

Don't worry. Also I bought my HD2 from Taiwan. Official Rom was Taiwanese. Now, I use Customized rom which is English
Firstly you need to install HSPL, and then you can install any of customized rom. It's very easy. You can use an English rom in few minutes. I use XannyTech Pandora 1.6 and I'm very happy with this rom. You should use too.

before you install hspl to your hd2, you must back-up your Official Stock rom, so that you will have no worries uninstalling your hspl by flashing to sd card....
Hi volkansa, Thanks for help to answer my question.
Dio you mind to give me the link and instruction to do this HSPL and how to back up the original ROM just incase I got in trouble. Im very rookie on this
Thanks
Actually, I don't know any backup tool for full rom. But you don'y need to backup current rom. If you install HSPL, you can use any customized rom when you are any trouble. For example My first rom was crashed, and I downloaded another customized rom and I had easily install another customized rom with CustomRUU.exe file.
- For HSPL instruction, you should check first page of HTC Leo: HD2 > HD2 ROM Development section. You will see "[HSPL] How to Flash Everything " on that section. Then click it the link.
- and find the link of HSPL.zip then download and install it from your computer while your phone connected to your pc with ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center which are depends your Windows Operation System. If you use XP you should use ActiveSync; if you use Vista or Windows 7 you should use Windows Mobile Device Center.
- After installation your phone will restarted and then it will be ready for new customized roms.
- Now you need to get backup of your personal datas such as Messages, Contact List, Call Logs, Speed Dial records etc. I use PimBackup utility for them you can try it, if you want. It's very easy. And also you should use Storage Device for backup. It's very important. If you use main storage, you will lost your backups after flashing new rom.
- Then pick you favorite roms and download it. Then use instruction of that customized rom. That's it. You have a new rom

Sounds like you have a TMOUS HD2, any ROM that is TMOUS compatible that you like ...
NO Radio x.xx.51.x, this will brick your phone ..
Can't really tell you what ROM is best, because everyone has different tastes ...
But IF I was going to suggest one .. It would be something from the Energy Series, check my sig ...
i am on tmobile htc hd2. i tried a lot of roms and the best i think is anyrom with gtx theme and with cht 1.8.5
Thanks for the info. Yes I do have a Tmo US. Just bought it today. Used to have a HTC Universal last. Things have changed drastically since. Cant seem to find my way around. Any starting point you recommend to start reading up on the ROM flashing procedure... I'd hate to brick my phone on day 1... hehe

Start here
You will need HSPL3 first just search for it, don't have the thread handy ...
for just about any ROM you will want to follow a simple procedure ,
HSPL3 first, this only has to be done once, unless you flash a stock rom from the SD card , as that will remove it ..
Task 29>Flash Rom>Flash Radio>Hard Reset after first boot>Enjoy
the Radio is optional, but you should find a good one that works for you
2.12.50.20_2 is what I use works great ...
One thing to remember , battery life may suck right after you flash, give it a couple charge cycles to learn ...
I think that's should get you started ....
Please use ROMS in that section if you dont know anything now.
as watcher64 said before: read about radios. You need to be sure that they are tmous compatible.
I experience strange things since i received in warranty my new HTC HD2 from orange. The phone came with new official ROM RUU_Lerange_FR_B2B_1.72.73.3_Radio_15.32.50.07U _2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship. I decided to flash. First hSPL3, then Task29, flash ARTEMIS (as always) V33.1 then ugrade rom radio to 2.10.XX. Each time i try to flash a 2.10 series my phone became crazy. Can't soft reset, reset itself, try to access to microsd, but reset etc... Like i identified something goes wrong with rom radio i decided to downgrade to 2.07 series. Now all is ok, the phone run like a charm.
We all know that all Android bluid run with a least 2.10 rom radio series, do you think, guys, that ORANGE put something in the phone not to run ANDROiD?
I have an Orange HD2 and I'm using Radio 2.14, no problems at all. I was using the 2.12 just before without any problems either.
And I don't want to "lecture" you, but try to post this kind of things in the "other" forum, this one is made to post new builds and Android roms.

Dont worry about it, a Moderator will take the appropiate actions.
it's really the .51 on the radio that came installed with the phone when you got it from orange, from my experience having that in your FW is a problem to run android on the phone.
