Is there anyway to undo gfree?? - G2 and Desire Z General

Is there anyway to undo gfree?? I think I messed up my phone by rebooting it and pressing volume up, every now and then my power button doesn't go to sleep when I pressed it after a while 10-20secs it will prompt shutdown selector, at first I thought its broken but when I fast boot it keeps on pressing power button and it goes around and around.
Any help or suggestions would be pretty much appreciated thnks....

Lmfao couldn't resist I'm sorry I'm of no help to you

Yes, you can undo gfree, see the Wiki for details.
But it sounds to me like your Power button is stuck, nothing to do with gfree IMHO.

I agree with steviewevie, you should check your power button.
You can use the KeynrTracker app in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
I know there was an app that monitored key input events and was very useful when I was modding my keymap file, but I can't remember its name.

Thank you guys so much for helping me around my problems, I didn't undo gfree bcoz of the button remapper you showed me but one thing what if I put power button to none what will happen how can I turn it on??
EDIT: nothing had worked from button remapper, still green light on gfree
EDIT: its working cause I was so stupid that I put power to power and just changed it to none sorry guys, undo gfree no go..

[Q] Noob question: How to know if the phone is ON ?

Ok, really noob.
I turn the phone off every night but sometimes I forget if I turned it off or not.
As far as I know, we can only click the power button to light the screen but if the phone is already shutdown it will turn on again.
Is there any other key to touch the phone so we'll able to see if it's on?
Hold town power and vol down. If it is on it will.go to.the lock screen and if it is off hboot will appear, wait for the green text to go and then use vol keys to navigate to fastboot and press power to select and then navigate to power down and press power

[Q] need help making backup for epic

ok I searched thru all threads, im trying to create a backup with clockwork. I have rooted with clockworkmod and have no clue how to get to it. I am a noob but have rooted and have flashed FROYO on my EPIC. I do have titanium backup aswell, but lookin for the other backup incase i decide to flash back to stock for the OTA FROYO. THanks, Please STEP BY STEP, Or atleast point me to a thread that tells it cause ive been searchin for a hour now
Hold Down the power, volume up,volume down and camera all at the same time and you are know in clockwork.
Also to navigate in it use the voulume up down and camera to select.
Also you can use the keyboard dpad with the enter button for select.
Another nice button combo is camera, power and volume up i think is a soft reset.
Hope this helps.
that isnt working for some reason, just reboots back to up. I was holding volume rocker, power and camara. do i have to do something before i shut down? or start to reboot when the lights are on after shutting down??

When the phone is on hold:
Power
Camera
Volume up
Volume Down
It will work believe me..
Just keep trying sometimes if you miss a key it will activate the reboot button combo..
If your phone is off: Hold camera power and volume down i think...
The phone has to be powered off. And then you hold volume down button, camera and power button until you are at the green cwm menu.

no it doesnt it can be on and you can hold both volume rockers, camera and power and it will take you to clockwork with out power off..
But yes your way works with the phone off..
For Sh*ts and giggles I thought I'd try both methods mentioned here and yes they both work.

Help! End Key no longer turn off screen

I don't know whether this is ROM dependent or if something just suddenly eff up on my end. Been using tytung's GB V3 NAND for quite some time now, and now im having the problem that the end key doesnt put the phone to sleep. Not only that, but it can't even end-call as well. Though if I hold it down long enough and release it, im presented with a phone options with the choices of silent mode, airplane mode, reboot, and power off." Anyone know whether I have to remap my keys, do a factory reset, or use a different ROM? TIA!
Your in the same boat as me, the Power button wears out, I have trained myself to not use it, I use a combo of Button Savior and Button Remapper.

Defect power button.

Hey guys.
Ive been having a lot of trouble with my power button. At first it became less responsive (Having to push the button 2-3 times to activate the screen).
Now it seems like it is not working at all (Having to push 6-7 times).
Anyone seen this problem before and knows of a way to fix it?
Or does anyone know a workaround? (Like using the search button to act like the power button perhaps?)
Thanks in advance.
I don't really have any suggestions on how to fix the power button itself, but I do have a few workarounds if you're interested
The first is Smart Screen ON. This app was featured on the main portal not too long ago, and I have to say, it works quite well. It uses the proximity sensor to turn the screen on and (optionally) off. In the span of two weeks, it's saved my phone over 2000 power button presses (the app keeps track). I have been running the app 24/7 since I installed it and have not noticed any impact on battery life. I'd say it's worth a try.
As an alternative, you may have some luck with ButtonRemapper (requires root). It should let you remap the search button like you had wanted. You could just edit the keyboard files directly, but this app makes it pretty simple. : )
Also, in case you didn't know, the home button will wake the phone by default, but it obviously doesn't turn the screen back off.

Same thing with me mine is fully broken my work around is download button rempaper and I have made the search button act as the power button.
This is great but to turn my phone on I have to plug it into a charger and launch into Cwm then click reboot phone.

Thats what im trying to avoid.
What program did you use to remap the button?
Thanks for the info man!
Yeah it's a ***** how the phone only lasts a year before it starts breaking but glad i can get rid of it in 2 months.
I use ButtonRemapper, i take it you have root access so just download the .APK i have attached and its pretty simple just find the search key in the app and change it so it acts like the power button (It's simply you will get it when you open the app). Once you have done that the phone works fine when in normal use you just gotta tap the search button not the power button.
But as my power button is fully broken im not sure if the power button works if the phone turns off. So my work around is plug the charger in then when you see the sony logo keep taping the volume down until you launch in CWM and then just tap reboot now and it will boot up, hope this helps.
It's the only work around without having to spend money i could think off, so defiantly a good temp fix.
Yeah i think the build quality of this device isnt what it could've been. Although im happy the screen hasnt broken yet.
Thanks for the APK!
You can just use the hone button to wake the screen. Give the power button a break

Power button fried on G2.. how to reach phone reboot/shutoff options?

So my phone overheated (my fault) and the power button is broken, as well as the hardware keyboard. (Functional but inaccurate most the time) I can reboot my phone by pulling the battery, but don't know how to reach the power options menu that used to be reached via the power button. Its been like this for some time now, but yesterday, I pulled my phone from my pocket and saw the power options menu on the screen. (Reboot, Shut Off, Recovery, Bootloader)
Thing is, I have NO idea how that happened. Since I cant turn the screen off manually, things get inadvertently "pushed" when I put it in my pocket before screen times itself out. So obviously there is a way to reach the power menu without the power button working. Anyone here have any idea how to do that? I would greatly appreciate any help!
well your power button must sometimes work, pulling the battery will of course turn it off but you would need to press the power button to turn it on
probably just sticky, open it up and use some electric parts cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clen up he button, fully dry it and then see if it works better

No, power button absolutely does not work. Its been fried for about 2 months now. I already tried all the tricks. Pulling the battery (for some reason) is how I reboot the phone. I can't really turn it "off" aside from leaving the battery out. As soon as I put it back in, the phone automatically turns on. This may be a fail safe measure in case the power button does break, as in my case. I'm just thinking there must be some way to reach that power menu other than power button.
well it isn't a fail safe, its just what happens when the power button is stuck on, the plastic button you touch is part of the case, this makes contact with the actual power button which is part of the motherboard.
from what you descriped you power button is stuck, but do as you please

I see what you are saying. If that is the case, not sure I have the tools or know-how to actually open my phone up. I just tried the tricks like burying it in dry rice to try and soak up moisture and whatnot. Due for a new phone in a few months anyway, just was curious if there is some shortcut via software that I'm not aware of.
if your phone is rooted there are apps that can creat shortcut icons on your screen to do most any key press. just search the market.
don't know of any rom with a built in feature like this so I'm sure the power button just became unstuck for a moment and then restuck

There's an app that is filled Buttonremapper, on xda here. Search it through Google. It lets you remap a key to any action you want
