Hi everybody. I hope I can get an answer to my question. I have a myTouch 4G by T-Mobile, the problem that I have is kind of simple for many of you guys. I installed 100s and 100s of all kinds of apps on it, and ALL of the shortcuts for the apps that I installed (not preinstalled ones on a ROM), all of the sudden got corrupt. They all come up with "Android Logo" icon and not the icon of the program. T-Mobile TV is installed on a ROM, so the icon for that is fine, but take an app "Movies", the icon for that is corrupt and instead of icon of this program, I have a little "android logo" icon. How do I restore all of messed up icons? I don't want to reinstall all of the programs whose icons are messed up. Please help?? Thank You

Are you rooted? Have you moved these apps to your SD card? Sounds like they all got moved to the card and can't be accessed now.

Hi. I'm not rooted YET, I think especially now, I'll go ahead and try to install "Glacier" rom.

Does anyone know if the new messaging client from the thread below works on the T-Mo US version? More specifically on the original ROM (not the updates one tmobile released with the screen sensitivity issues?)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700495
That I am not sure b/c in order to install a new messaging you would need to uninstall the old one which is not possible on a stock rom (as far as I know) That sucks too b/c the 1.8 version fixes a lot of the issues you are most likely having
I just installed it last night on the original Tmo HD2 stock ROM (2.10), and it seems to be working just fine for the most part.
I used the 2015 version on that thread, not the 2016. Installed just the cab for the new client, didn't bother updating the .mui file he provides, since I don't care about the securebox. It installed without a hitch and replaced the stock 2012 version of the client.
The only issue I seem to be having is an odd SMS notification icon (new, not sent...) show up in the taskbar, and my batt meter isn't showing there now for some reason. I'm sure I just goofed a step somewhere, I just haven't had the time to figure it out yet.
But, the bottom line is that the client does install and work on the first stock tmo ROM, I just can't say yet if it's faster (though I'm sure it is) because I haven't filled it up with enough messages yet to stress-test it
Same here, installed v15 on stock tmo ROM, so far so good. One minor but annoying bug, it says that i have a new unread text message but i really don't.

There is no need to uninstall the old one, the way WM works with ROM files is an newer file that "overwrites" a ROM file is sorta mapped into place. The original file is still there in ROM but the newer version is used, if the newer version of the file is deleted or app uninstalled then the ROM file comes back.
as already reported this does work I just installed it on mine and it definitely seems faster. i had been archiving all my SMS every week and then deleting the database, I might attempt to reinsert all my weekly archives in and see what happens. Think ill give the messaging app a few days make sure nothing weird comes up.
As for the icon, yeah it did change over the stock sms notification icon. the envelope with word balloon looking icon is gone. now a new sms is a white envelope and new emails are a black envelope. I noticed this change in the 2014 messaging app that i installed a few weeks back

I had seen this prior with the old messaging client while restoring backups into the database. I think the DB entry gets corrupt. If its showing which if your contacts have the unread message, try sending them a message and have them send back. That seemed to have fixed it prior, you could also try a battery pull

Well I stand corrected, I always knew it to not work that way. Thanks for the info!
Yeah I noticed the different icons on 2014 too but I just install a custom taskbar anyway that takes care of that.
So far I noticed that it does improving loading quite a bit. And the issue where it highlights the last message is finally gone, that was my biggest gripe.

Hey Chris, what custom taskbar are you using? I've got dinik's anastasia taskbar icons right now, and the new odd-looking notification icons are still showing unskinned....but, I didn't reinstall the taskbar after putting the new msg client on, so maybe that's what it requires. I'd still like to know which one you're using that skins them though, in case I need to troubleshoot further, thanks!
Just installed it so far so good, seems pretty quick..

These are the 2 files that control the icons in the messaging client.
MessagingRes.dll & MMSRes_480x800.dll
Does this updated message client (2015 and 2016) and anything to the messaging system other than speeding it up? Any new features? I've always found the HTC messaging on the HD2 very lacking compared to say, my Omnia II.

I've got this issue too, and I wish it went away by just replying...I haven't found a solution other than a soft-reset, or just ignoring the damn thing

i downloaded the 2015 all in one cab and so far so good. well i havent really texted but the only thing thats annoying is that everytime i send a message it tells me it was successfully sent how do i disable that
i know theres is a way i seen the option but i just fogot

Use a reg editor to make this entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging]
"DisableSMSSuccess"=dword:1 Or use the cab

Yes, I have the same problem. Also want to organize icons in seperate windows but sometimes they move.
Same problem on JPA and JPO (not sure if I had this on JM1)
EDIT: It seems to also happen when I install new applications, don't even have to reboot to see the problem.

Hi,
having the exact same problem as described. Tried different versions of Darky's ROM, currently running on 9.3. Extreme. But also experienced on 9.2. Can't remember if it occured on preinstalled Samsung Froyo.
Isn't there really any solution to this ? It's really annoying not to have an option to sort your icons when they keeps messing up after reboot.
What ROMs are you having, guys ?

Looks like lots of things can move your icons update of apps can shift stuff around .
But if you are not updating> factory resetting etc then the apps should stay where they are on a stock rom after a reboot .

Solution
Guys, this issue has a relatively simple solution, the problem is with your touchwiz not saving correctly setting, do the following:
Go to Settings > Applications > All
In here, go find TwLauncher and click it, DON'T click force stop now just click the "clear data" button.
After this, your icons will mess around again, ordered alphabetically, just restart phone.
That should do it, next time you organize your apps they should stay where you left them.
I hope it help you guys, cheers!
EDIT:
If the above wasn't enough (in most cases it should), you can try to get Root Explorer and go to:
/dbdata/databases/
find the com.sec.android.app.twlauncher folder and delete it.
This is harmless, but it will again order alphabetically your apps, this folder will be restored again on next boot, so restart phone after.

Clearing the data worked for me! Thank you very much!
Didn't try deleting com.sec.android.app.twlauncher but instead clearing works. More feedback pls
I had the problem, changed ROM and solved.
Another oddness popped up with my NC tonight. Several widgets just up and vanished. Were showing as a box that said "Problem loading widget" I checked to make sure I had not loaded them to the SD card cause I know that will cause them to fail. I had not. So I uninstalled them and reinstalled them but the widgets still would not show in the add widget list.
I would really not like to have to start over with a factory reset/data wipe. I can if that is the only solution. Anyone have any thoughts on this? How to fix it? or is it just a time to start over thing? i do realize that since we are outside the default that oddness happens but things were running so smooth
Oh I have mine running CM7.2
Not normal to happen this for sure.
For start, check if the normal applications that had these widgets, if they are working fine.If yes, then you should just put the widgets again and make some tests by rebooting your NC.
If after the reboot still everything is there, than maybe there was some glitch and no reason to worry about.
Found it. Looks like while shuffling thru the settings I clicked install to SDcard as a default and so a couple got installed there. Switched it back to auto , reinstalled and all is well.

This happened to me this morning with Music(!) on CM9. I deleted the failed widget and created a new one, and all is fine. The new widget is different than the old one, so perhaps there's been an update I didn't notice....

Oh God!! You are a total noob..
Go to settings>>apps>>manage applications>>all>>Lenovo Launcher>>Clear Data
And to check if its a6k or a6k+
Settings>>about phone>>
Install A new Launcher Like Nova or clear app data as told by sasukay.
