Hello all,
I set up a Sync partnership with my 2gig card on my device and Windows Media PLayer at home.
This is working fine and is syncing playlists and miusic with no problem.
The problem is that i have all my music on another pc. This is the machine with which I do my daily active sync with yet Media player cannot detect a connected device/memory card with which to set up a sync partnership.
Why is it that one machine ( the occasional sync laptop) works fine and my daily work machine whre all my music is stored will not even detect a connected device in windows media player?
HOw do i resolve this?
Is there a way to set up a sync partnership with Itunes as i use this for my IPod syncing?
I have the very same problem. Have you found a solution yet? Thanks!
I've tried opening up the Playlists folder and dragging the playlist the desktop Media Player. But when I try to sync, it give me a message that it "Windows Media Player cannot syncronize the file".
Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I've been having a couple problems these past few days that are specifically with windows mobile:
1. Why are there 3 Music/My Music folders and why does each media player look for music in a different folder. Is there a way to reroute where the media players look for music so I can delete all but one of these. It's really annoying to have "some" songs in 1 folder but "others" in a different one.
2. Why does Activesync when synced with my Outlook mailbox copy over my e-mails but not the settings for my e-mail. I've tried setting it up on my phone manually but keep getting an error.
3. Why do "Files" when synced through Activesync immidiately get stored on the root of the Phone or the Memory stick. Would it be much easier to save "My Documents" in "My Documents" on the phone? Any way to reroute where Activesync stores files?
4. Why do all the tabs with Web Feeds on them not share a common Web Feed list. It's a pain to have to set each one up.
And I think I'm done ranting for now. Has anyone else been annoyed by these problems, or found a solution for any of them?
Why is it when i synchronize my outlook emails with my xi, only the emails in the inbox are syncd. i have many sub folders that also need to be copied
EDIT: Ignore that. find out how it works.
Under settings when I click Accounts and sync I am prompted with all the accounts I can sync. Facebook, Tmobile, Picasa, GOOGLE etc. Under the google one one of the sync options is MUSIC. In addition to contacts, calendar, etc etc. What is this music sync for? What app?
I had the same option until I uninstalled the honeycomb music player. I never tried to use it.
My research suggest, that this will be part of google's ability to stream music from the cloud. part of the stream media project/google music

I had the same frustration when I first came to android. I have found that these three apps work best for me. I like these because you set them up once and everything stays in sync automatically.
For syncing music on PC:
- iSyncr (from Play Store): This lets you sync your itunes library with your phone.
For syncing pics, videos on PC:
- Picasa (runs on PC) The Picasa app syncs pics and videos on your PC with your Picasa account, which syncs automatically with your phone.
For contacts/calendar/tasks in Outlook
- gSyncit (runs on PC): This syncs your Outlook contacts/calendar/tasks to your gmail account, which syncs contacts/calendar/tasks automatically with your phone.
I have found this works so well, that now I use Picasa and gSyncit for syncing photos, video, and Outlook with my ipad (instead of iTunes).
Why don't you just copy and paste whatever you need from PC to your phone?

1. That would not keep things in sync (I think OP was asking about syncing). e.g., if I make a change to my Outlook calendar and a different change to my phone calendar, I want both to reflect both changes.
2. Copying and pasting every time I change something would be more work.
For the calendar you should be able to sync to Google calendar. Then as long as you use the same calendar what you put in on your phone is on your computer the next second.

Contacts sync can be done tru google account also I think it goes same for pictures and calendar. Music and videos I just use external card to copy any new in to it. I also had 3 iPhones and I never make iTunes to work on my PC. I never try but Kies could do a trick too.
