Just a guess: October 11th
What is your guess?
This is getting annoying!!!! GOD DAMN!!!
October 2nd...
Silly but what the hell. October 26th
This is better than reading about people crying about it.
Being optimistic... Go go October 6th!!!
Getting old... Oct 31, 2045
at least i kept it in general and not in dev forums.... now that is annoying! My reasoning behind it is that the Galaxy Tablet ships Oct. 11th with Froyo pre-installed. If I had the money, id sell my vibrant and get the tablet just to one up the ipad.
froyo on that tab is mad buggy..got a chance to play with it.
October 23rd much better than a waaah waaah thread
The seventeenth of never.

Hmmm
I say October 19th, the same day New Vegas comes out. I'll be playing New Vegas.
We should start a pool here.
Nov 31st. Oct is too soon
Im holding out for 3.0..

froyo: Nov 28
gingerbread: never
mark my words
the real question is: will samsung/ t mobile actually say when the updates are coming this week as they promised?
maybe we could get a special edition Halloween Froyo!
November 3 and for 3.0 december 22, 2012 if we are still hear.

If we are still here? The end of the world will just have to wait until the masses have been satiated. No worries, here.
Gingerbread will likely never be offered as an official OTA update but we will get it as long the devs here keep their Vibrants.
I am willing to bet a week's salary that it'll be released "soon"!
I read somewhere that Gingerbread was confirmed for the Galaxy Tab before christmas, but I cant find any official statement.
Does anyone have any info about this?
none as i browse.... but i am sure samsung will....
That's funny.
Do we now basic highlights of Gingerbread?
Why people are so eager to get something they don't know what it's for and whether it is good for them?
I have read that Gingerbread actually will be and update of Android 2.x while Honeycomb would be Android 3.0 or even Ice Cream.
Considering Gingerbread is supposed to be seeded to developers by December, the likelihood of Tab version by Christmas is very slim, I am betting on feb or march...

Yeah that sounds about right to me.
Can I just point out that Froyo has only just officially made it onto a lot of platforms, and indeed hasn't yet reached some others. No way in hell will gingerbread make it to the Galaxy line without a few months of development. And since its not available to the devs yet...
Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 FroYo upgrade launched
Posted by Luke Johnson on Fri 5 Nov 2010
Android 2.2 update to finally hit the Samsung Galaxy S
After months of waiting owners of the formidable Samsung Galaxy S Android handset will today be able to update their devices to run the latest incarnation of the Google mobile OS, Android 2.2, FroYo.
The flagship Samsung handset became a major player in the smartphone market following its launch back in July but has remained devoid of the OS upgrade despite FroYo landing on a number of its closest competitors.

“Froyo starts rolling out today; everyone will have it by the end of Nov. To prepare, get the latest version of Kies.” announced Samsung UK via its official Twitter feed earlier today. Kies is Samsung’s proprietary upgrading solution needed to update the handset’s software.
The 4-inch mobile powerhouse will add a host of new features to its already hefty arsenal with the upgrade to Android version 2.2 including the coveted full Flash support and device tethering. Google Maps GPS navigation and voice guidance will also land on the 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera touting iPhone challenger.
Elsewhere in the land of Google mobile operating system, the imminent arrival of version 2.3 of the hugely popular software, dubbed Gingerbread, appears closer than ever as latest reports and rumours peg the Android update to make its way to developers in SDK form as early as next week, November 11th.

Let me spare you the torrent of flaming you will get.
That does NOT apply to the US Vibrant, it is for the UK market. Yes, it means that we will eventually get it, probably by the end of the year.
There's already like 3 threads about it, plus this is not for US.

Unbelievable that people still completely misunderstand this and continue to botch it.
Please lock yet another one of these up.
People, please improve your reading comprehension!
Why is ppl keep posting these thing when it never say anything about us version?

why do people keep going into threads to post complaints? Don't you know it keeps the thread alive? Or is it ok as long as you have a first 5 post flaming the OP?
All you want to be mods please go hide in whatever corner you came from. Let real mods do the work. Posting "Please lock his thread" doesn't actually lock the thread.
Also the OP NEVER said we are now getting it on our vibrants. He just posted a story...
Back to topic. Was it EVER said anywhere that the US Galaxy S series would get froyo? I know this was assumed because Samsung said the Galaxy S would get it, but I wouldn't doubt them changing their tune now.

We are in a VIBRANT forum.
I don't mind that Samsung is taking their time to release Froyo for the Vibrant.
Now if it ****ing SUCKS on the Vibrant after they release it, I'm a gonna be mad.
In before the lock.

yes and the vibrant is a variant of the galaxy s so your point is? you still didn't read the entire op and flamed just to flame.
going back to topic, that still doesn't mean we are getting it on our vibrants. see how I said it without calling someone retarded, idiot, etc? More people need to start trying to do that.

I agree...
I'm not sure what happened with the exclusivity of the Android community but I swear people have become more and more abrasive and impatient within the last year.
I remember how peaceful and progressive the G1 forums were since the days of 1.1 - 2.0.
Now it's I WANT MY ****ING FROYO!!! FIX THIS DEVS!!! YOU ALL SUCK!!! YOUR MOMMA WEARS SNOW BOOTS!!!! AAAAAAAAHHH MY LIFE IS HELL!!!!!

Well that's just practical, it gets really cold outside sometimes.
Isn't it a news of some interest for us Vibrant owners that UK is getting Froyo for Galaxy S? Sure it is....that is because Vibrant is a Samsung Galaxy S series phone and an official roll out in UK means Samsung has Froyo working well for Galaxy S phones at this time and it means US is going to get Froyo soon.
OP didnt say Vibrant is getting Froyo on so and so date, like a bunch of BS threads in the past.
hello

I've grown to distrust Manufacturer or OEM dates, but nice find there anyways.
$1 gets you a reply
isnt nexus s gonna get before galaxy s2?
Seeing how long it took the Galaxy S to get Gingerbread, I'll take this chart with a heaping tablespoon of salt.
Also, no way will the Nexus S get ICS after the S2 (one of the benefits of a pure Google device is quicker updates).

It took the Galaxy S 4 months to get gingerbread, not as long as it could of been
It's certainly a nice table someone put together. The site's done in broken english and there's no source for the information. The info's not provided anywhere else on the web and while all the devices listed were previously announced by Samsung as being upgraded they refused to provide a timeline. And ICS for the SGS2 in four to six weeks, seriously? The Nexus, the ICS launch phone, isn't even going to be released in the U.S. until December. Color me skeptical.

As much as I would love to believe this, I can't.
I'm expecting ICS in forever and a day, that way if it comes a day earlier than expected the wait will still seem like forever.
However I think January 23 is when it will be rolled out.

and what makes you think that ?
Omg if this is true i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are just guessed dates right??
yes samsung and others have confirmed ics for some of their devices already out but no dates have officaly been confirmed have they
that site is very misleading to me bbecause come december everyone is now going to be going where is ics , when really that date has been picked out of the air as a random date by someone
i cant see an offical samsung build coming till next year , now the devs on this forum on the other hand are making great leaps to getting a full working version on the sgs2

I just read this on the dutch website nu.nl :
Updated: March 16, 2012 10:27 info
AMSTERDAM - The update to Android 4.0 for the Samsung Galaxy Note is postponed to the second quarter. A specific release date was not disclosed.
Photo: Samsung
Samsung says that Norway on his Facebook page.
The Norwegian branch wrote in answer to questions from a customer that the update for the Note is no longer in the first quarter to the devices is sent.
The company earlier this week began updating the Galaxy S II. When Samsung announced that Android 4.0 "soon" will be available for some of the Galaxy Note. Why the update is delayed remains unclear.
the source is in dutch: http://www.nu.nl/gadgets/2764870/update-galaxy-note-android-40-vertraagd.html
ICS release will remain one of the bigger secrets,, might even be bigger then who shot Kennedy Will we ever get the answer or will it remain a secret until the end time?

Never trust Samsung regarding software updates.
I have experienced this Bada 2 update delay. We are gonna get ICS in June, a Mayan told me so
Why not post in the ICS thread?
