Hello! I have TWRP installed on my device without root or custom rom/kernel. Is there a way I can just flash the stock recovery to get future OTA updates? I prefer using a method that doesnt require admin rights on my pc, because I am not using my own pc for the moment.
You can get the factory image, extract ALL the zips and when you find the recovery image do "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".

That's the problem. Efrant says you have to use 7zip and not any other thing to extract the image, but I cant install it because I dont have admin rights on this pc.
You can use Flashify from Play Store to flash recovery images without PC.

So can't you right click and try to extract it?

I downloaded the factory image myself, but you can give it to me as well so I know I did it correctly. Why actually do you have to use 7zip?
Edit: nope I cant extract it myself

Yeah, it totally worked. Also locked bootloader using BootUnlocker app.
Got some piece of mind and I also hope this will ease up my ORD a bit
I may easily restore my backed up custom recovery using flashify if I ever need to update ROM or whatever...

Here you are, just flash it using fastboot using this command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Thanks! It's the one for 4.3 right?
And if I want to install a custom rom, and make a twrp backup. Can I then go back to restore the backup and then just flash this recovery in fastboot to get the OTA?

Yes, yes and yes.
You can use Flashify to make a backup, restore and flash.
Remember you can only flash 3 times a day unless you pay for the full version.

No I mean making a backup in twrp, install a custom rom. New version of android comes out: (let's say 5.0 because updating CM for example from 4.3. to 4.3.1 isnt that hard I think), just restore the backup and flash this recovery in fastboot. (without flashify)
Then I will get the OTA?

Ok thanks (I ran out of thanks for today)
I think I am going to stay with this TWRP for a while (actually I want CM official nightlies back) and will try this method when KLP comes out. I think I will have my pc back then and will be able to pull the recovery of the image then and I will post if it worked or not!
thank you for your effort mate!

I decided to flash the stock recovery anyway. So now I am fully stock and will get future OTA updates? I actually like the stock rom, but will maybe fllash CM10.2 if nemesis comes with some cool stuff.
Thanks for pulling it for me!
I have pacmanrom installed on my device.
The issue is my headphone socket not software related.
So, will they accept a return or do I have to do some resetting process?

It's always safer to return to stock, if doing warranty stuff. Just do a nandroid backup, return phone to stock, send to Google and when you get it back, just restore your backup.

I'd use this toolkit, it's pretty easy to use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44984820&postcount=1951
or you can download stock image manually and flash it with fastboot, then lock your bootloader.
Edit: Stock image can be found here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam

Flash a Nexus 4 factory image from Google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam
It will overwrite the bootloader, recovery, and /system, therefore wiping the device of any customizations.
Don't forget to also relock your bootloader at the end: fastboot oem lock

Hello wonderful XDA Peoples. I am planning on returning my Nexus 4 in the near future as part of T-Mobile Jump. I'm currently on a stock ROM; but unlocked with CWM recovery installed.
To return to stock, would I need to fastboot the entire stalk image (via flash all.bat) or would I just need to flash the stock recovery image, then relock the boot loader? Thanks guys! Keep up the absolutely spectacular work.

You could just flash the recovery.img and then re-lock it

I unlocked the phone using the Nexus root toolkit. I used the flash zip function in the toolkit to flash the zip file of Xposed (xposed-v79-sdk23-arm64.zip) into the phone, but now I got a message saying the unfortunately NFC service has stopped. This message keeps popping up no matter I choose Report or OK, so now I can't do anything with the phone. Anyone can help with this issue? Very much appreciated.

You might have to use the uninstaller zip
Or if you made a nandroid restore that

Could you please elaborate a bit more on this? I googled it but I didn't get a clue. When I reboot the phone, it shows the phone is corrupted. After the phone is completely rebooted, the screen shows unfortunately NFC has stopped. The message remains there no matter what I do. So how can I uninstall a zip in this case? Thank you very much.

I didn't install twrp recovery. I just used the flashed zip function in the Nexus root toolkit, which I believe (I might be wrong) says it would use twrp temporarily to flash zip files. What I did is backup the apps before unlocking the phone. I unlocked the phone and flashed the zip file of xposed.
