I had it installed before a complete system restore, but when I install it now, I don't see a seperate app for it anywhere, so I can only lunch the original car dock.
Anyone know how I can launch it and put a icon on a homepage for it? (I had used visual desktop before with success.)

I installed the Palm Messaging App that threads text messages just to see how it looked and wasnt really fond of it so I wanted to remove it. Well, It was unable to be fully uninstalled for whatever reason and now the hardkey for messaging doesn't list text messages, and the today plugin is still there and launches the Palm app.
Does anyone know a way to manually uninstall this, via registry or something?
Palm Messaging App
Worst case scenario ... which is what I've done many times in the past ... is physically delete the directory and all the files in it. Go into your Today settings and remove the app. You can try searching for the app name in the Registry and remove it manually (backup your registry first).
WARNING ... this is a last case scenario. Perhaps someone else has experience with this specific application. Perhaps you can list the application's full name and version. Maybe even where you got it from, in case someone else wants to play around with it and see if they can find a better way to remove it.
Good luck!
go to the buttos settings and change it.
I know there's a thread or two on what's safe to remove but they're not very active nor do they answer my question. Hopefully this will be seen as a valid new topic.
I've gone in through adb and removed/moved to sd most of the apps that I don't wish to have on my phone. There are a few though that still remain and I can't see to figure out what they are called or if they're even in /system/app where I can remove/move them.
Car dock
Clock
Desk clock (do I need them both?)
Desk dock
Latitude
My Account
My Devices
myModes
Places
Screen Share
Setup (swore I removed this and it's still showing up)
Voice dialer
Voice recorder
It occured to me that some of these might be connected to one another or another app. Can anyone confirm?
Also, if anyone knows what any of these are called in /system/app (or maybe in another folder) please let me know.
Thanks!
Car dock - OK
Clock - not sure
Desk clock (do I need them both?) - OK
Desk dock - OK
Latitude - part of Maps, can't remove
My Account - OK
My Devices - OK
myModes - part of Sense? not sure
Places - Part of Maps, can't remove
Screen Share - What's that?
Setup (swore I removed this and it's still showing up)
Voice dialer - OK
Voice recorder - OK
OK means OK to remove
Do yourself a favor and buy Titanium Back-up. It will give you a list of apps and you can "freeze" them (pm disable). Works just as well but is a lot easier.

OK to remove. This is the app that shares with other DLNA devices. I have removed it on mine
screen share's apk has something about twonky in it im sure. since it is just a program for connecting to a twonky media server
EDIT: TwonkyMobile_T-Mobile.apk
Thanks guys. I went ahead and got Titinium and froze em all.
So the Fire is going to an older gentleman who really knows very little about techie crap. He can find his way around a computer OK, but he's not big on the technical details. We chose KF for a single major reason: The icons are huge, so they'll be easy for him to find and jab.
Here's what I expect he'll do:
1. Watch videos while he's out at car shows
2. Maybe listen to some music
3. Possibly read car magazine subscriptions
So I'd like to leave the software as stock as possible, but I'd also like to know:
1. What's the easiest software package to get ripped video onto the fire?
2. Does the Fire have its own sync software or is there something else I should put on his PC to use?
3. OK, I lied, there is no 3, but if you have a suggestion, I'll take it here
Thanks!!
I do this quite often for people on their desktops and laptops..
I create folders (Using GO launcher) appropriate for what they are using: folders called 'video', 'music', 'magazines', etc and dump their programs in each..
As for the others:
1. Dunno, I just use a stock file manager, its pretty simple cut and paste stuff.
2. I have not the slightest clue, sorry.
3. Personally, I like GO Launcher over the standard carousel but with the carousel he can still add favorites.
Best,
Chris
You might want to look a buying DoubleTwist with AirSync. Makes media syncing very easy.

Wassup y'all,
So I've been enjoying my mega tablet, but I was wondering if you could help me figure somehting out. When I originally got my tablet rooted, before twrp was available, somehow I had set multi window apps to open in a second window automatically. For example, clicking on a play store link in chrome (while chrome was full screen) would open google play in split screen with chrome.
I have no idea how I set it to do this. I had messed with "multiwindow apps manager", and some xposed stuff (but don't remember what exactly).
Can anybody help me figure out how to get this feature back?
I'm an idiot, mindlessly posted to my phone not my tablet (note pro 12.2) can i delete this or does a mod have to?

I am pretty sure this is what youre talking about...
When you create a new tab in chrome it looks like two windows. See attachment.
Its just another tab.
I've been trying for hours now to do the simplest thing. I need some way to make a shortcut to these apps that is its own standalone APK. Here's why:
The long version: I have a Logitech Harmony Hub. It won't launch apps on the Nexus Player directly, but I have a workaround that involves installing Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner on the Nexus Player, and sending a keyboard command that I've mapped to trigger a specific app. For example, sending F1 launches Netflix. This works flawlessly for just about every app, but the exceptions are Google's own apps (Google Play Music and Google Play Movies). When I map a key to launch one of these two apps, nothing happens.
The short version: My Harmony Hub won't launch them directly.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Attempt: Creating an app with Tasker on my phone that launches the app in question. Basically cloning the app.
Result: This works on my phone to launch it, but once I install the app on the Nexus Player, it does nothing. Perhaps the Android TV version of the app is different from the phone version in such a way that it won't allow this to work.
Attempt: Installing Tasker on the Nexus Player so I could attempt the same steps as above, but from the Nexus Player
Result: Can't install Tasker - no way to accept the disclaimer on Android TV because it's not visible (accessibility settings don't help)
Attempt: Backing up Tasker on my phone using Helium, then installing Helium to restore a backup of Tasker that has already accepted the disclaimer.
Result: Tasker won't back up with Helium. It just creates an empty .json file. Everything else seems to back up fine, of course...
Attempt: Installing TV App Repo, and creating a shortcut to the apps in question
Result: unable to create the shortcuts because the apps in question are not downloaded, but are rather preinstalled.
Attempt: used this website: http://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de/ to try to create an APK from the respective packages.
Result: According to the "apps" section of the Nexus Player settings, the package name for Google Play Music should be com.google.android.music, however, this did not work. Neither did com.google.music, com.android.music, or come.google.android.music.tv. When I say "didn't work," what I mean is that in each case, it said the package was not found. I thought this was odd since I used the same package name as what was shown in the Nexus Player's settings on the first try. If anyone knows the correct package names for these two apps, that may be the solution to the problem.
"Shortcut" apps won't work, because Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner will let you map commands to launch apps, but not shortcuts. Needs to be a standalone app. If anyone knows any other method besides the one I've proposed that will launch the apps in question with a single key press, I'd love to hear it. I know this is an obscure request, but it seems so simple and I'm really frustrated at this point. Not the type to give up at something like this, there's got to be a way, but I can't find it. As a side not, my Nexus Player is not rooted, and I'd really prefer not to go that route if there is any other option. Thanks in advance.
