Managed to delete my framework-res.apk - Galaxy Tab General

And now my tab only does a boot loop. I cant copy the stock one back over with ADB keeps giving me permission denied. I've tried everything. Any ideas? The only thing done to my tab is the clubtech flashing method to make phone calls, and its rooted, but I cant get shell root
Help

Put it on an sdcard (I'm sure you have other android phones to mount it with, or use ADB if the tab has it mounted)
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
su
cp /sdcard/external_sd/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
reboot
That should do it. I assume in this that framework-res.apk is on the external SD card, and that the US tab mounts it in the same place. You could aslo use adb to push framework-res.apk to /data/framework-res.apk, and copy it from there.

My problem is that I wasn't getting root in the adb shell, managed to fix that and pushed the framework to the system booted just fine. Thanks man
Sent from the Galaxy Tab, that makes phone calls

hey man, same thing happened to me once.Your best bet is to get the sd out and put it on their from a reader or something like dat.I took my sd out and stuck it in my girlfriends's g1 and dragged it on there like dat.hope that helps
Boot into recovery mode
Open cmd prompt, type
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention this will mount your sdcard in windows through recovery mode.
The command to send your file from your computer to your SD card is in my thread here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517874
Code:
adb shell mount /sdcard
adb shell rm /sdcard/update.zip
adb push *filename* /sdcard/update.zip

[q] adb remount wont work on vibrant

So i rooted my vibrant with the hopes of removing some of the bloatware. i rooted with the one click root method, loaded clockwork recovery, i know i am rooted but every time i try adb remount i get remount failed: no such file or directory.
so i tried going into clockwork recovery in the partition menu and mounting system there and trying adb remount and got remount failed: operation not permited. i ran adb root and got root can not run on factory builds (or something close to that)
in adb shell ive tried mounting every which way i can think of and nothing works.
ive searched all over and havent been able to find a fix, please help
root explorer didnt work either
also i tried deleting the system apps with root explorer and it would mount either
adb remount wont work on a factory kernel like it says
you can use adb shell and use su to give you root access, you also need to remount /system so it's not a read-only filesystem, there are several posts around here detailing how

[Q] Is it possible to push apps via adb to an encrypted xoom?

the subject says it all. I've been trying to push apps to my encrypted xoom all afternoon without any luck...
I'll go ahead and admit upfront that I am a noob when it comes to using the sdk... so that could also be a major factor.
adb install (insert exact location+ filename.apk for the app you want to install)
I just tested it out
for example
adb install C:/abc.apk
What command are you using? What error message are you getting? Did you do a adb remount to make sure that the /system/app path is writable?
You can always do an adb install [package name].apk as well.

I just tried to execute adb remount (I had not until you mentioned it), but I get a "remount failed: operation not permitted".
Code:
Hannibal:platform-tools dmoore$ ./adb install /Users/dmoore/Documents/android-sdk/platform-tools/AsusReader.apk
1259 KB/s (7747001 bytes in 6.007s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/AsusReader.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]
Additional information: I am on a MacBook Pro using the latest version of the SDK (downloaded it yesterday).
try typing "adb devices" if it does not list your xoom try installing or re-installing the motorola usb drivers
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
just noticed the macbook part
http://www.samsung-tablets.com/motorola-xoom-usb-driver-for-pc-and-mac-download.html/
Ok... back to me being a complete when it comes to the SDK (and the Xoom in particular)...
My Xoom is completely stock... it has not been rooted or otherwise modified.
With that being said, is there some trick to getting the file system to mount as r/w? Do I need to reboot in to recovery before adb remount will work?

I've already installed the Android File Transfer app... it only allows me to browse the SD card - not the root fs... unless there's something I'm missing...

you dont have to be in recovery (recovery wont do any good unless you install clockwork recovery) for adb remount to work but if your not rooted you cant push files into the system folder thats the whole point of rooting is to unlock the system files also if your pushing it into /system/app the rom is odexed so you will need the apk plus the odex file

I have the odex file, so i'm not terribly worried about that.
My major question would be this though... Do I need to go full blown root, or can I just unlock the device?

[Q] Renamed framework-res.apk and bricked my Kindle Fire

I already rooted my kindle fire, downloaded android market I loggedin using a google account. After that I was unable to change the google account. Browsed web and I saw the post of the video. I followed the instructions in the video.
steps followed: using root explorer, went to /system/framework and renamed framework-res.apk and and after I completed the renaming, the device crashed (or I clicked something; hence crashed?) and stuck in blank carrousel page.
So, I rebooted and all I get now if boot logo of 'Kindle fire'. It doesnt go any forward.
I connected to PC and I am able to see the device in ADB. But no root access in shell. So, any adb command I give I get back errors like: no permission; read-only folder, etc.
When I use the Kindle fire utility v0.9.3 and try to do temp root or root, I get
Error type 2 android.util.AndroidException: Can't connect to activity manager; is the system running?
adbd cannot run as root in production builds
PC detects the device as 'Android Composite ADB interface'. But cant do anything in adb. I can push files to /data/local/tmp folder. Thats about it.
adb shell mount is not allowed
when I do
adb shell mv /system/framework/framework-res.apk.bak /system/framework/framework-res.apk
I get:
failed on '/system/framework/framework-res.apk.bak' - Read-only file system
Can someone help rename this file back to original framework-res.apk?
Thank you very much;

You should be able to mount the system r/w with the proper command, hopefully someone will be here soon to give you the commands.
do you have fff & twrp available ?
if yes boot to twrp - there you have full adb availabe and you can copy your backup framework-res to the kf
same thing happened to me,but I made it worse and the computer wouldn't even detect the KF.I had to return it.
Sorry): I know how it feels

Try using 'adb remount' then try to rename it again.
if you get the 'Read-only file system' error again:
adb reboot
adb remount
try again

[Q] Boot Animation WITHOUT Root -- /data/local permission denied

Hi there,
I'm looking to put a boot animation on my Nexus 7 without rooting it, similar to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580642
When I issue the adb command, it thinks for a while and appears to be doing something and then comes back with "failed to copy 'bootanimation.zip' to '/data/local/bootanimation.zip' : Permission denied" The command I'm using is adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
I've added adb to environment variables and my paths are also correct (bootanimation.zip is in the folder I've navigated to in cmd). I've also tried just putting bootanimation.zip into platform-tools. Is there something that I am missing that will allow me to do this, or is /data/local off limits in the N7?
I probably would've spent less time just rooting the thing, but I am trying to avoid that for now.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
i dont have a non-rooted N7 to test, but u may issue the following commands to see if u can access /data/local
adb shell
cd /data/local
ls
Click to collapse
see if u get any error msg..
