In order to install the latest update to my phone, I had to SBF using RSDlite 4.9. The first time it would just boot to the boot loader when finished and would not boot. I did it again and let it sit overnight, and it had booted by this morning.
So I did the update.
I then installed the black glass deodex/theme pack and the phone just hung at the motorola icon. I then SBF'd again-- several times-- and it just sticks at the boot load when finished. So at this point the phone is unuseable. The battery is too dead to try again and it won't charge.
Is this because I did the upgrade?
Frustrated. I thought the SBF was the magic cure-all.
Chris
Sounds to me like you may have a hardware issue with the phone. If you can restore it one more time, I would look into a warranty exchange.

If you do not go in and delete the cache and data, then it will only boot loop until you do...Hold down the home key and power button for about 10 seconds. Then an android with a triangle around will pop up. Then pres the search button on the phone, now scroll down with vol buttons to delete cache, then do data, then reboot. This is all over the xda, instead of just telling you to search , I wanted to be nice...hope it helps you.
If you had 2.3.340 installed and then SBF'd 2.3.15, you'll be stuck at the bootloader forever.(I did this a few days ago) Just go to Verizon and convince them to replace the phone.
If you can get to the /\/\ motorola logo, go into recovery and wipe data and cache.
I actually got it back online with a 2.3.320 SBF that I found, so I'm up and running. Now I'm not finding the 2.3.34 update so I guess I don't get that .
At least I have a working phone!

I was able to go to the .340 System-Only SBF from the leaked build without issue.

I tried that one initially (before the 320) but "start" was greyed out when I selected that .sbf. No idea why.
FYI the file name was SHADO_X6_2.3.34_SYSTEM-ONLY.sbf

If you weren't already on .320, you cannot flash that SBF since it does not have a compatible bootloader with it. Now that you are on the leak, I would try it again. If you get an error, try adding an "x" to the filename, right before the .sbf extension.
The x at the end of the filename (before the extension) worked. Thanks a ton man! You get a "helpful" vote too!

If anyone has the battery issue, just know that the phone wont charge at the Moto M but if you boot recovery and hit search, leave it plugged on that screen with the "wipe data/factory reset" then it will charge right up

Exactly what the title says, I need to do an exchange for a blown earpiece speaker, but the guy said I need to unroot first, otherwise his store will get a 'chargeback' (nice guy imo)
Can somebody provide me with instructions?
Are you aware how to sbf your phone? Best way to get rid of everything in my opinion
I looked up the files for SBF, but not sure if i have the right ones for .340
kinda stuck atm... got a few files i downloaded, not sure where to go from here
just used RSD LITE and the latest SBF to reload my phone.. and i still have root and clockwork.. lol
You must not have done it properly. Before you flash your phone, in clockword mod makes sure to do a factory reset and also wipe cache. You can find the sbf from mydroidworld

Loading the SBF by itself will not unroot your phone. After that process completes, power off the phone and enter Motorola's recovery by holding Home while turning the phone. Hold Home + Power until the Motorola logo comes up, then release Power and keep holding Home. Once you get a folder icon with an "!". Press the Search button, and do a factory reset/format cache. Once the phone comes back up, all of your data, and more importantly the root, will be gone.
-Edited to correct the key combination needed-
I am pretty certain the SBF files for .320 and the .340 Patch are already rooted.
Factory reset won't take that away.
I Don't think a 'True' SBF for .340 has been released (and likely won't be).

The files released by TBH are not rooted. I've used them several times, and I always had to run z4root to regain root access afterwards.
I bought a DX earlier this week. It was updated to system 2.3.340 before i left the store. I also have a D2 and experience flashing ROMs and SBFing. What is puzzling me here is that no matter what ROM I install i get random reboots. This happens no matter what apps, activities, etc... i am doing, even when just idle, i will look down and phone is rebooting. I haven't tried SBFing the DX yet because i can't find a clear answer on how i need to do it. I know that a full .340 SBF does not exist yet. I have a full .32 SBF file and a system only .340 file. I am assuming that i would flash the .32 full, then the .340, or could i just flash the .32 and then let the phone update the factory way to .340? I am getting this reboot problem with Rubix 1.9.5, Fission 2.4.3, and GummyJar 2.5. Any advice, input, or help would be greatly appreciated. THanks in asvance.

try here http://rootzwiki.com/index.php/Smartphones/Motorola/Droid-X/Droid-X.html#comment220 scroll down towards the end (idk if you use windows or linux but the linux method of sbf'ing is alot easier ive used both) except in their directions it says an older sbf file just insert the one you have, then go here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ystem-baseband-2-3-340-kernel-bootloader.html to download these zip files for kernel updater, 340 system update your baseband and bootloader should already be the correct ones, (i recently bought my X too) then once you finally root your newly sbf'd X and installed droid x bootstrap etc and get into clockwork mod recovery you can flash those 2 zips (recommend flashing only one at a time, reboot, and do the next) and then you should be updated to full .340
gl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869007
heres a thread with discussion about those update zips
Thanks for the quick replies. Gonna try your suggestion tonight or tomorrow. Now i get random lock ups followed by a boot after about five minutes. The only upside right now is that its 4 days old so if i can get some resemblance of factory back on it then i can just exchange it Thanks again will report back with results.
And also by "insert the file you have", i assume you mean the file i have that is VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_01.sbf is the file i need to use in RSD Lite, then update the other files with clockwork recovery?
Thanks again.

correct tho the one i used had was labeled VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_1FF_01.sbf
I guess the one i got is ok? it came from the TBH app from the market? I would like to get ahold of the one you got too if thats possible, since you know that file works.
LOL i am a dumbass, left the FF part out for somereason, thats the exact file name i have. Thanks again.\
Edit- Just tried this, i don't know whats wrong but it has the start button in RSD Lite greyed out when i select the file, its the exact one listed above. Gonna try same file from different locations
Ok, so now i am starting to worry. Tried 3 different .320 full sbf's. All the same result. Failed process close to the begging. Then on the phone it says
Critical Error
FEBE
0047
Please Helppppp. I don't need a really expensive paperweight, all i need to do is get it so that GummyJar doesn't show on boot and i can take it back, its brand new.
Try removing the battery. Then boot into recovery (volume down + power) then do a factory reset/restore.

Tried that, i finally got it to flash, i had the phone in the desk dock, didn't think about it. Once i plugged it into the usb cable direct everything went fine(so far). Also i noticed that with this phone and my wifes D2, i have to put a (1) at the end of the sbf file name to get RSD Lite to use it, otherwise the start button stays greyed out. THanks for the replies and help, will post again if there are any more problems.

Well... the SBF and updating where successful. But even after the SBF, SD Card Formating(Long format in windows, then 3 times on phone to be sure), clean install and download of all Fission stuff i normally use, still get random reboots. Gonna SBF again and try Rubix and see how that goes. If it still has problems too, i may SBF again and go to the store and return phone for a new one.

If you are on stock 2.3.15 now, then just go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates. This should do the OTA update and bring you to 2.3.340. No Need to flash the 2.3.320 full sbf and then the 2.3.340 sbf.
Your right that won't work. Its stuck in loader so no system will boot. So I need to go find the 320 sbf in order to get out of this. I'm asuming its the 30.04 bootloader preventing the 315 sbf from bringing me out and why the 340 system sbf won't rescue me. Ok ill try it thanks

Yeah, I think I remember reading if you have 30.04 bootloader, the 2.3.15 sbf will not work, but I can't remember for sure.
To check what bootloader you have, power off your phone. Now press and hold both volume keys; keep pressing the volume keys as you power the phone back up. The phone will proceed to enter bootloader mode and show you what bootloader you have.
Sorry for the pore responses and spelling. I was sneaking posts at the Verizon store while fighting with the manager to please charge my battery so I could flash my phone. Battery died on me apparently it will not accept any type of charge from the phone when stuck in boot loader.
bouchigo - Thanks you been a big help bud, Finally! Someone says how to put the X into that bootloader I couldn't figure it out so went with the clockworks .zip 340 system flash instead of the sbf. Had to google for the 320.sbf couldn't find much on here for this so it is downloading now and see what happens after that. I did find during my search that if the bootload was 30.04 the phone would not accept a 315 system so that is indeed accurate.

Try doing a "data/factory reset" and "wipe cache", after that reboot and see if fixes your problem.
1. Power off your phone
2. Press and hold the home key (the button with the little house on it).
3. While holding the home button down, power up the phone. Once phone starts to power up, you can let go of the power button, but keep holding the home button until you see a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle with a little android underneath the triangle.
4. Now, press the search button (the magnifying glass button).
5. Scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" (with the volume up and down buttons) and select it with the camera button.
6. Now scroll to "wipe cache partition" and do the same as you did previously.
7. Reboot and hope it solved your problem.
Yeah I did all that to try and skip the programming. I could do emergency dial and do *22898 and get to customer rep who found a outage in my area after that was fixer the phone programmed like it should and all was good.
Im about to post on Apex thread about a small issue. But all together the setup is working so much better faster cleaner then the old setup so 5 *'s.
For some reason if you hold power button and select restart the phone will boot into clockworks recovery every time. Uninstalled clockworks app and still does it. And currently have 2 SMS apps and wont let me uninstall any of them and its causing all SMS to be duplicated. Only bugs so far

I had that service problem too when I SBF'd. When I was on .15 I tried to use the
system updater on droid world (stupidly) to .340 and the patches. So after I got
stuck on the bootloader like you did, I just SBF'd to .320 and then went back
to droid world and then installed the system updater (.340) with bootstrap and
then the following patches. I had to go outside to get at least one bar of service
in order to activate the phone. After about 20 minutes or so I started getting
signal back the way it was before. I *228 again a few times to get rid of the
roaming icon. Sometimes it takes a few programs to get you to the correct towers.
Here's the droid world thread.
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ystem-baseband-2-3-340-kernel-bootloader.html
Note: I of course activated the phone before using the system updater and patches.
Gain your signal back first before you get onto .340

Okay, so I messed up my boss's phone today. I tried to do the flash player mod to watch Hulu found here: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/219288-modified-flash-hulu-droid-x.html (which I did SUCCESSFULLY on my phone). Anyway, I didn't realize that he had NOT made a backup of his Stock ROM (he just rooted his phone 2 days ago). When I did the Flashplayer mod not only did Hulu not work, but any time he opened his browser to the google hompepage it would kick him out of the browser. We tried pulling the battery, clearing cache (on the browser), force stop (on the browser), and nothing worked. I swear I did EXACTLY the same method that I did with my own and mine works fine. It's odd bc the google homepage shouldn't have anything to do with flashplayer. Btw, every other page I've seen seems to work okay with his browser. Anyway, do you guys know what might have happened?
Never really messed with the hulu hack myself... worst case scenario he will need to backup his apparently and data using titanium backup. Then I would make a nandroid backup of the current state as a place to get back to as a worst case scenario. Then sbf the phone and create a clean nandroid right away... then mess with the hulu hack in the event that it doesnt work again.

You can't reinstall flash player from the market by uninstalling updates then reinstalling?

No, a factory reset only affects /data and /cache portion of the phone OS I believe. An sbf can be found here:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/5633-droid-x-2-3-32-full-sbf.html
This is the 2.3.32 full sbf that you will need to flash first. Next you will need the 2.3.34 system only sbf:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OXK9Q1ZG
Make sure after you do each sbf to do a battery pull, then boot into Moto recovery (hold down home button while pressing power, then when the droid comes up, press search button), then do a factory reset. This will help to ensure a clean sbf process without issues.
Good luck, and post back if you have questions.
PS make sure to use at least RSDlite 4.8 for flashing these files.

Thank you for the links. However, I'm not familiar with RSD Lite, so I don't know how to use it or how to flash these sbf files. I clicked on the first link and the instructions seemed vague and geared more towards people who already know what they are doing. I've only tried flashing 1 custom ROM (Fission) and I've flashed various states of the stock ROM several times. So, when it comes to this sbf stuff I'm very much a noob. I'm scared to death of bricking my phone or my boss's phone for that matter, so would you mind giving me step by step instructions on how to flash these two sbf's? Or at least send a link to a site with "noob" instructions? Thanks in advance.

RSD Lite was originally used for old Motorola dumbphones like the Razr and some early smartphones. I have an Evo now but I remember how to use it from back when I had a Razr. Just select the SBF file and after it sees the phone hit Flash. Make sure to get a second opinion from an actual Droid X user first since I'm not sure if there's anything extra that needs to be done.

Here is the link to download RSDlite 4.8.
http://www.multiupload.com/HL0ZAL9GK8
You will want to download this, and then install it on a windows machine. Then in order to use the SFB files (use 2.3.32 first, then 2.3.34), plug in your phone to your computer. I'm pretty sure you need the Android SDK installed, and the correct moto drivers installed as well (not sure.. i've had this set up on my computer forever...). Next, turn off your phone and press and hold "volume down + camera button + power button" and this will boot your phone into bootloader. It will say 30.03 (if you are on 2.3.15 OTA update) or 30.04 (if you are on 2.3.32 or 2.3.34 releases).
Then open up RSDlite on your computer which you installed it. With the phone plugged in, choose the "..." button in RSD lite and browse to the SBF file that you downloaded (remember 2.3.32 first) and then it should show your phone as a device listed below in RSDlite. If it recognizes your phone, you can click the start button in RSDlite. It will then start doing its thing.
My recommendation is to make a nandroid backup before doing this as a last resort if something goes wrong. The first time that you run the SBF file, it may get to like 98 or 99% and then say fail (something about passing BP baseband or something similar, and your phone will reboot). Don't worry, this has happened to me a couple times when I first started using the SBF files and scared me to death. After the phone reboots, pull out the battery and replace it back in. Then hold down the "home" button while pressing the power button. Then when the picture of the little green android dude shows up, press the search button (this is the motorola recovery screen). Then go to "factory reset/wipe data" (or something similarly titled). You can navigate the menus by using the volume up/down buttons. You will make your selections by pressing the camera button.
If you dont get the little android guy to show up, then turn the phone off and try again. After you have wiped data/factory reset, you may need to activate your phone. If it doesn't automatically prompt you to do this, from the dialer app, type *228 and then call. Then choose the option to program your phone, and you will be back in business.
After an SBF, your phone is completely wiped clean, so you will need to re-root, and install bootstrap/any other mods you need.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.
Here is a great how to guide. Great forum with lots a smart helpful people.

Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I had an older gingerbread leak, and decided to upgrade to a newer gingerbread leak. Well that is not where the problem came from. I stupidly decided to install the crt animation zip file. Turns out after reading comments it leaves you stuck at the M logo.
Any suggestions on SBFing back to froyo so I can get my gingerbread back on. I have RSDlite, but in the gingerbread bootloader it won't recognize my Droid X.
I was running the .595 Gingerbread leak and I was able to SBF back to Froyo with no issues whatsoever. Are you certain all of the drivers are properly installed on the PC?
Yeah they installed. I have SBF'd using RSDlite before, but what exactly do I need to do to do it from gingerbread. I can get to clockwork, and from there to the gingerbread bootloader, but once there my Droid X is not recognized.
Forget about Clockwork, just turn your phone completely off. Then press the volume down and camera keys while you press the power button. Release all keys after about 2-3 seconds. This should get you right into the bootloader and RSD should see your phone.

Ah yes, its comming back to me now. It has been recognized and is currently SBFing I believe. If I run into any more trouble I'll let you know.
Thanks

No problem glad I could help
Just finished. Phone simply boots to bootloader screen like I went to to initiate the SBF.
OK if SBF has completely finished pull the battery to power off. Then press "Home" and power until you see the Motorola logo. Release power and continue to hold "Home" until an exclamation appears. Then release "Home" and press "Search" From the recovery menu you will need to clear cache a couple of times and then reboot and all should be well. Anytime you SBF from GBread to Froyo you will need to do this or you will get boot loops. Let me know if this works for you.
Thats odd. The logo is still red. I am now downloading froyo from http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...id-x-gingerbread-2-3-3-release-prerooted.html
Thats how I did it when I SBF'd a while back. For some reason I downloaded a different version from another thread. I will SBF that and see what happens.

Yeah try that Official 2.3.340 SBF and then boot into recovery after SBF'ing and clear the cache out. The SBF you previously used may have been corrupt somehow.
Okay it is currently SBFing. Once it finishes I'll boot into recovery wipe data/cached. Then I'll boot up and see how it goes.
I never thought I'd be so happy to see the Froyo "M" xD. Just booted up. Gotta root, then do the gingerbread stuff again. How can I get to .595 again? I do have the TBH app by the way. I just want to make sure I do everything right. Rooting with Z4root right now.
Well its activating right now.
Hmm said it didnt activate. Trying again.
Activated. Now going to root.

Ok once it's rooted hop into the Market and grab Droid 2 Bootstrap (Not X)
Then go to http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/7047-droidx-gingerbread-2-3-3-4-5-588-install-patch-root.html and pick up the 3 files for the .588 leak and flash those in order. Once booted into .588 then go to http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-roms/136891-official-thread-gingerbread-leak-root-get-now.html and grab the .595 version that you want and flash that through the Droid 2 Bootstrap as well. You cannot flash .595 directly from Froyo or it will fail when flashing.
I thought by enabling USB debugging Droid X bootstrapper would work I believe. If I am not mistaken I used the Droid X bootstrapper to get from froyo to gingerbread in the first place, and from there I went to .595 back previously.

I can't be certain. I haven't tried the Droid X bootstrapper but if it gets you into Clockwork then you should be ok.
I thought I had z4root on my sd card still. Gotta go download it agian.
Stupid computer keeps telling me its a virus and deleting it.
My dad amped up all the security things on here lmao. Just got it downloaded. Root time.
This is taking a while, though I do remember it taking a while when I first did it.
Sweet sounds like you got it.

Yup I think so. You've been a wonderful help, especially since its late here. I'm pretty tired, so remembering all these things you told me was not about to happen haha.
You are a life saver.
And to think all of this could have been avoided if I read the stinking comments below the crt animation thing. THis is such a waste of time haha, but then again, I gotta do it. We all make stupid mistakes sometimes.
Wow taking forever to root.
Edit: Rebooting my phone since it was taking too long. I heard that was a problem with z4root anyway. Time to try it agian.
Okay root is working. Time to move on to the next steps.

I remember having issues with Z4root as well. The first time I think it force closed on me (or stopped responding and gave me the option to force close) and kept doing that until I rebooted and tried it again.
Wow phone reboots soooo fast. I guess this SBF business wasnt so bad. Really cleans things up I guess.
