I try to get my phone (PDA with wm6.5.3) with a louder ring volume. I changed the registry:
HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\Ring\InitVol
to higher value 5. But whenever I change the volume by using the hard volume keys on the phone, this value change accordingly. And hence the ring volume also changed. I wish to have a fixed ring valume which is independent from the hard vol. key. Anyone can give me a tip how to make it with registry tweaks?
Many thanks!

Dear everyone
The voice of my phone is not loud enough, any expert can tell me how to amend the registry in order to increase the phone volume when I am talking with others?
Thanks in advance
Would also love to know if this is possible....
Incoming voice calls is more often than not too soft on my HTC TyTN, especially in a noisy room, despite the sound being maxed out.

Improve Sound Quality of Speaker Phone...
You might have observed that when you turn on speaker while during a call, the other person has complained of too much disturbance on the line and can hear more of static then your voice. Here's a fix to improve mic sensitivity:
HKLM\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN(x)\RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME = CC (DWORD hexadecimal)
HKLM\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN(x)\EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME = CC (DWORD hexadecimal)
where (x) = none, 0, 1, 2
838 pro/Hermes does not have that registry. I am using 1.35 rom

I would definitely also like to know if this is possible, because I have the exact same complaint... Even in slightly noisy environments like a coffee shop, the earpiece volume isn't loud enough.
peace
Found this... although I admit, I don't know how to access the registry, otherwise I'd try this right away...

Fix low volume issue
The volume issue has 2 fixes, 1 permanent and 1 temporary.
If you disable the startup animation (see below) it permanently fixes the volume problem.
If you like the animation you can leave it, but you have to put your phone in sleep mode then bring it out of sleep mode after every reboot.
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume
add: DWord value name = volume
value data = 4294967295then press power (sleep) wait 10 sec and press power again.
Disable/change the startup animation or sound
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimationEnabled - change from 1 to 0 to turn everything off and permanently fix the volume issue.
You can also customize the animated boot up by deleting or changing 2 keys. (Doing this does not fix the volume issue)
Delete the WAVFile Key to remove the sound only.
Delete the GIFFile Key to remove the animation only.
Put your own .GIF file or .WAV file on the phone and rewrite the 2 keys (WAVFile GIFFile) to the new file location. i.e. \My Documents\Files\CustomAnimation.gif
Hello,
Does enybody knows the regkey to increase the phone call volume on my Qtek9000? I have already increased the volume of the wav file which is set as ringtone using audacity but still it is not loud enough. I already tweaked the volume long time ago in the register but forgot where and how to set it, I just would like to recheck it.
Thanks,
Yves
I can't hear the ringer on my xv6800 is there a hack, program, or magic to increase the ringer? Yes I have done a search but have not found any help. Thanks
Sounds like a hardware problem or you haven't found the right volume slider. The Mogul is LOUD when it rings on high.
Ringer vol
Can someone tell me what the script string is for HKEY/cu/controlpanel/sounds/ringtone0/script what is the string? thanks
You can try this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone/"Vol"
Original value is 65535. Enter value of 95000 and that will increase the volume. Try it out...

Similar issue...
My ringer volume suddenly went to almost nothing... I could barely hear the ringer when I held my 6800 a foot away from my ear. I tried your suggestion but it failed to fix it, but I poked around and found
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring and opened "InitVol". It was set to (DEC) of 4294967295 (hex) FFFFFFFF
I tried changing it to the (DEC) 95000 (hex) 17318 and saved, reset and tested it again. This time it worked like a charm and was even a bit louder than it had beem before!
Morning XDA people
Have one slight issue that really bugs me with my HD2 the ring volume is so damn loud its hazardous lol now I know your gonna say turn it down but when listening to music I have to turn it back up again and then forget to turn it down again....
Any way I can separate the volumes better was literally thinking of taking the wav file for my ring and decreasing the DB its saved with, but slightly longer work around than wanted not ideal!...
Many Thanks in advance,
Crafty...
I used the following registry tweak to lower the call volume, and it's worked great for me on the old ROM and latest ROM. However, I've posted this a couple of times now and it's received a mixed reception. Some say it doesn't work at all, and some say that a second incoming call is way too quiet. You can give it a shot a guess, and if it doesn't work just change your registry back.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2

Many Thanks for the Reply Snerkler, I don't think I explained my issue that clearly it is actually the ringing volume that really gets me rather than in call volume. I use my headphones and turn the volume up to max and then when removing the head phones if I forget to turn the phone down the ringer is crazy loud.
Hope this is clearer
There are 3 volumes in WM phone. Incall, ring, and system.
Incall volume is highly problematic in HD2, but at least it has nothing to do with the other two. It can only be changed during call.
The other two, ringer and system, are both linked by default. But that can be easily changed by settings/sound & display/single volume - off.
Like that you will be able to control both volumes independently. On my phone that meant that you control ringer only with HW keys. That can be changed to system only, check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610334
but for some people no such tweak is needed.
But again .. there is special incall volume which can be changed only during call. So no volume setting before the call, ringer or system, affects incall volume.
1) how do I turn off that damn touchtone sound when I type in a phone number?
2) how can I lower the volume of the call? having it all the way down to zero still is "loud" and everyone can hear the otherside of the conversation. Is there some admin panel or something like the samsung omnia where I enter a combination of keys and it will allow me to adjust volume or something?
1) - settings menu all settings personal phone change keypad setting.
what about the volume of conversations? its soooo loud. volume is all the way to zero and still it makes no difference!
