Speakerphone volume and quality has withered to a faint mumble - G2 and Desire Z General

I've noticed that my speakerphone volume has degraded a lot since I got it.
I used to be able to actually hear the other person on speakerphone, albeit poorly. Now I cannot hear anything but a faint mumble, rendering the function useless.
However, the speaker works more or less. Videos, music, and games are much louder and clearer. This must mean the speaker isn't at fault.
Any ideas as to what controls speakerphone volume during a call? Aside from the volume buttons?

Volume Seems Week

I find that the overall volume on the Treo Pro is not strong. When listening through a speaker or even sometimes through headphones.
Now I realize the quality of the recording is a part of it, but frankly for many recordings i can listen with the earbuds on and cranked to the loudest and its still not that loud.
Anyone know of any tweaks to increase the volume out put? I really would love the built in speaker to be louder.

i dont know any tweaks, but i had the same issue, i even called tech support to get a diff phone swapped out, the tech told me to take the plastic piece off because it covers the speaker hole on the screen.....lol....i know how stupid! other then that i dont know anything to make it sound louder besides the keys on the sides to turn the volume up and down. I did notice that the speaker phone gets louder if u have the phone on a table or something. if this info didnt help then sorry for my worthless post...lol
Did you try removing anything covering the speaker? Yes not a fun idea, but if you did, did it seem at all noticable.
Frankly, even with the head phones its not very loud.
Funny bit of information -- if you want more juice out of your headphones, turn the phone off of silent mode, unplug the headphones and wait for sound to come out of the speakers, and than plug the headphone back in... youve now doubled your hearing loss.
Thanks for the tip. Can you restate the steps. Its not clear (and I could not reproduce it.) Maybe it would be more clear if you describe the original state of the phone. Example: Headphones plugged in and mute switched so speaker is muted.
Thanks
Okay here goes, My phone is usually on Vibrate.
Plug headphones in.
Start music.
Move slider to speaker.
Unplug headphones until you hear sound coming out of the speaker.
Plug headphones in.
I noticed this when listening to music on my headphones and i'd get a call, the volume would crank...
Give it a shot, it works for me!
I could have a bunk phone, but if it means anything I'm from Toronto, and i'm using a Bell Treo Pro.

Speakerphone quality?

How's the speakerphone sound on the HD? Are calls clear and distortion free? On both ends of the conversation? Is the volume high enough?
Thanks!
Hi
Sound call quality is good, but not perfect, calls are very stable, and clear (huge antena), You can manualy set call volume level or set call to main loud speaker
Yeah calls are generally good quality and loud. The only problem is the loudspeaker is not very good-quite distorted
Damn, I was fearing that. With my old XDA Neo I was never satisfied with its speakerphone quality also. The sound quality of ordinary cell phones is always superior. But how's Xperia, it's SE (I know it's HTC)

Earpiece volume

I just got it and noticed the earpiece volume is still low even with the volume turned all the way up.
Is there a setting I missed or maybe a registry fix?
Any help would be appreciated
HTC HD2
OS 5.2
MANILLA 2.5.2
ROM 2.13
RADIO 2.10
Don't mean to offend you. I had the same issue but was more of a user issue. I kept increasing the volume not paying attention that I was adjusting the ring volume and not the system volume.
if that doesnt work you may need to return it. My friends HD2 had low speaker volume and low earpiece volume. As much as we tried, we couldn't get it to go.
N1M1TZ - No offense taken, I only adjusted the volume during a call and at max it is still quiet.
I checked the settings/sounds, no adjustment for the earpiece just the ringer and the system sounds.
marduk79 - after doing a little digging I have found that this is a common problem with this particular batch of phones.
The first batch came out and the volume was set way to high that it was actually blowing out the earpiece.
I think I may have found a solution, if it works I will post it.
Thanks for the assist.
So what is the solution... My first one had sweet loud ear piece volume. But alas, the speaker blew. My replacement is alright, but I want it to be a tad bit higher... Lots of years of loud punk rock have made me slightly def I think...
Anyone know if there is a cab or registry tweak or something that will make the volume louder in the ear piece speaker?

How low? Like so low you couldn't hear it, or just low enough to be annoying? Basically my first HD2 was nice and loud. The new one is about 3 bars lower sounding turned all the way up... Which annoys me because I know the other one was louder and it's hard to hear people if I'm in an environment with a lot of background noise.
I feel like if I tried to take it in to get a replacement they would think I was nuts.
headphone and phone speaker too low
I too beleive the headphone volume is way too low, when listening to music or taking a call on the headphones it is barely loud enough too hear if there is any background noise such as traffic or conversations going on nearby. I have the volume about 75% when listening to talk radio stations, on my headset, no background noise present and it is at normal listening level. So if there is background noise, I need 100% for it to be loud enough to hear clearly. The phone speaker is not much better, when listening to calls on speakerphone the percentages are about the same for equvilent listening circumstances. I have tried "AudioPara3 TMO" and notice little or no difference in sound. Does anyone know of anything that will increase the maximum volume level for both speakerphone and headphones?
I'd like to know if there is any registry hack to increase the line out volume as well. My line out volume is very low, I have to put it to about 50 percent to match what would be the 20-30 percent level of my old HTC Touch (Touch 1 to HD2 - quite an upgrade, eh?? )

Video recording sound too low

I tried to video record my son while he was speaking but at playback I could hardly hear his voice. He was about 1 meter apart and I could hear him as if he was 20m away. My voice sounded ok though. I assume that the microphone used for audio recording is the same as the phone mic with higher volume control.
Is everyone experiencing the same?
Also, Ihaven't found any controls to configure audio levels for different circumstances (i.e. phone ringer, speakerphone, speaker during conversation, etc.) Is it necessary to only configure volume when you are in that area (i.e only during conversation or during playback) and not all at once in a special control panel? (I hope you understand the last part as I don't know how to explain better)
I also feel that the playback volume for recorded video is too low (even on max volume). The audio quality is also not as good as I would hope. I have yet to test playback on a PC though.
Unfortunately anything related to Desire HD sound is low at the bottom line no matter recording or speaker it is.
agreed that recording volume is too low. But one thing i did find is that when you hold your phone to record, the natural position where your right hand holds the phone actually covers the microphone (well at least for me). So make sure your hand isnt covering that and it might improve sound a little.
But when i playback a recording on my laptop it sounds ok when i max the volume.. definitely audible.
Im also getting this low mic problem, made sure i was not covering mic, still low volume. Even took the case off, still no joy, cant believe they did not test this before launch
Please HTC sort this out
After playing back recorded videos on my laptop, i'd agree with SupremeBeaver that the volume is ok. The sound quality seems much better too, so i'm not too fussed now

[Q] Speaker Quality

Anyone else noticing that the sound out of the speaker is a little muffled? Also the phone rattles quiet annoyingly in the hand when the speaker volume is raised and any adjustment of the hands changes the sound since it echoes off of it.
No sounv is great. But how loud this speaker. I dont see in /etc file for moding loud volume hack.
