Notification Volume

So on every android phone, in the sound settings for ringtone, you can set it so that your notification and ringtone volume is the same (by checking off a little box). I font see this option on the phone and so when I lower my volume it only lowers it for the ringtone, not emails and texts etc. this is ANNOYING. is they're not a setting for this or is it just me?

It's extremely annoying, and my biggest issue I've had with the phone so far. Followed closely by no notification LED. Hoping to see fixes for both soon.

Okay, here's how.
As usual, Settings > Sound and Display > Notification Ringtone. Now that you have the notification ringtone list open, just press the volume key to adjust.

That's how you manually adjust the notification ringtone, as always. What we're missing is the option always in every other Android OS that allows you to match your notification volume automatically to your ringtone volume, allowing you to adjust everything at once by the hard keys on the outside of the phone. Without that option you bump your ringtone way down, for example to go in a meeting, then one of your notifications goes off full blast.

Okay, I see now. I haven't had an android phone in a month so I'm a bit rusty. Well here's a fix to that then. I can't do anything about it in the settings itself, but go to the market and download "Quick Settings." Open the app and go into volume control. On the top there is a check box for "Use Ringer volume for Notifications." Now it'll work.

That sucks big ones. I'll have to use audio manager till that issue gets fixed. This is why I hate non-stock android phones because manufacturers like htc, motorola, and samsung think they thought of everything but they always end up messing something up

I agree, this is the most annoying thing about the vibrant. (luckily its an easy fix)

damn, whats up with samsung phones just straight up missing **** that's included in android? I was googling for a way to block calls when I saw that android should be able to take any contact and send their calls straight to voicemail.. NOPE, not on my epic.. now the notification/ringer volume link is missing too?! WTF?
I'm having a serious case of buyer's remorse right now.

Lock screen silence/vibrate

Not sure if this topic would be in this forum or not...but I've noticed quite a few of the roms I've tried (celb2.1, white widow, kaosfroyo) all have a drag to silent phone feature on the lock screen. The only one I noticed that switches it to VIBRATE instead of just plain silent though is kaos....any idea how to change this function in say...celb2.1?

I am interested in trying to get the vibrate function working on Aloysius's lockscreen also instead of the sound off, there is no vibrate option in settings sound however, any ideas?

I just use the volume rockers on the side. One tick above silent is vibrate only.

I would be interested to know if you could change the slide to silent to slide to vibrate as well.

All I did to enable the slide for vibrate feature is make sure phone vibrate is checked in your settings under sounds and display

That didn't work for me, i checked it but nothing changed w the lockscreen. I don't know if its a different lockscreen.apk or a setting.

Same here.

I think this might be Froyo thing as when I was using Eris Lightning Bolt it would only go to silent mode

Text messaging notification volume issue

I noticed a very annoying problem with this phone. When ever I set a tone for my messaging app the tone would play very loud and clear when I test it but when I actually get a text the volume drops by like 50%. I thought it was a problem with handcent but this happens when I use the default app too.

There is a separate notification volume in the sound menu. When testing, it uses your main volume and not the notification volume. Just go in and bump it up.

Yea it's a glitch on all Epic's. I actually called Samsung about this issue and they were clueless... Smh!

Double ringtone

Ok so my father has a fascinate running superclean .7 and voodoo w/ otb 1.0 @ 1200 I did it for him. Nothing else not even a different theme. Everytime he gets a text he gets a double ringtone. He thought maybe it was the ringtone and changed tones and now gets the original and new tone. he is in a different city so I can't just up and go check it out till tomorrow..till then..any ideas guys?

Was sms popup or another sms notification app added to the system? Only reason I ask is for sms popup to work right the default notification should be disabled. So thats where the double tone might be coming from.

Do you have another sms program installed like handcent or chompsms? That could be causing it.

Nope and he said he hasn't installed anything else since I have him the phone back with just the things I listed in the op. Like I said I won't be able to get my hands on the phone til tomorrow

I had the same problem a little bit ago and it drove me crazy trying to figure it out. Here is what may be happening..........SMS and Email each have their own notification tone settings within the apps themselves(open sms or email, hit menu and settings then notification tone). If you open settings and sounds from your home screen, there is also a notification tone setting. If you set this main setting to silent and then assign a tone through each apps settings then you should hear only one sound. if not then your phone plays the tone from both setting menus.

Tried it.no dice. Ended up just doing a restore and its fixed.

Is the txt from google voice? If it is you get a notification from google voice and also from the native message application.

I switched to .9 and I still have this problem. Ever since I rooted and started flashing roms I have had double sms notifications....I have just learned to live with it...and I only have the stock sms app. I have also tried Handcent and it does it also so just uninstalled it.

Nope just normal sms. He doesn't have google voice setup.

2.3.6 Vibrate and Ring

With 2.3.6 update did they fix it so you can use the volume up and down key to go past silent, then vibrate mode. Or so you can go to highest volume, then add vibrate? I really miss this feature

I think that's a mod for custom roms, but I could be wrong
