where the hell is the official 2.2.1 update via kies without regHack, spoofer, ecc...?
Any news?
Thanks
Edit: now available JPY for XEU without spoofer xD
They arn't, the 2.2.1 releases are as of yet only leaked beta's or release candidates.
I'd rather have samsung take their sweet time making a solid update then releasing an untested snapshot that makes the phone even worse.

I think it's been released officially for some European countries, which is why people in other locations are able to 'reg-hack' to get it.
And the update(s) don't make the phone even worse - for most part, they are a big improvement over 2.2. WiFi battery drainage seems to be the only niggling issue.
yeah i connect my phone almost everyday to check in case there is FW update but JPO still the latest!! btw ithink most people with jpx are spoofing the Kies and end effect the phone doesn´t run as what we expect such as some setting doesnt work properly and lost a few of apps (this is from what i observe from the thread!) and on that reason i prefer to wait the FW update w/o reg. hack eventhough tired of waiting....but let give some time for a perfect-ish FW!!!

the update is not been released....who had already updated not use reg hack only for have XEU product code, but they use spoofer to go in kies test mode.....
Everybody update from a JPO XEU...i've this firmware, but without spoofer i can't get update....
Released officially for UK.
I'm using reg-hack to update to JPY via Kies since I'm from France. It works very well, best firmware ever.

yeah...now it's available!!!!! i have spoofer disablet and my JPO XEU see the update!!!! Great!!!!! xD
Ive got official update to JPY from JPO on Kies as well. Im gonna go for it
So many people leaving test mode on so much confusion.....
No confusion for me. JPY has been stubbornly unavailable (and I haven't resorted to the Kies hack) and today the update has appeared simply plugging in the phone.
I think now that it is safe to say that it has been "officially" released.
What country

JPY firmware
Well i had thought it official before, no one was sure if it was put out and then withdrawn or they had left kies spoofer on or something else, so forgive our confusion. Good news though if it is and more people confirm that
This should be exactly the same firmware that could be obtained by spoofing, right?
Interesting. I hope there isnt much difference to the one that I flashed yesterday via the reg hack! Dont think i can really be bothered going through all of that again.
I'm in the UK with an XEU phone, and following the info in this thread I decided to try to update.
Connected to Keis and was immediately offered the update to JPY, I updated and it took about 25 mins, with no loss of data.
I've only been playing for about 10 mins but all seems good so far, only time will tell.
Thanks to everyone that have posted bits of info.
Downloading now for UK/HKDXEU, never spoofed or hacked
Is it out official in europe?
Or just the UK ?
I don't know about Europe.. but the 2.1.1 update on the cdma network was just to remove superuser and wifi..(verizon)
I hope its better for you guys tho.

Just bought the SGS a week ago. I reside in Norway and my operator is Telenor (if this is of any importance).
When I got it, the firmware version was (is) I900XXJF3. Seen a lot of talk about other versions, which might or might not require root to install.
Anyways, on my unrooted SGS, I get no updates in Kies (horrible application btw), so I wonder if this is how it's supposed to be, and also when the GPS-fix will be released. Will it be availible automatically from within Kies?

JF3 seems to be the default firmware most people are getting out of the box. So far there are no official firmware updates via Kies, however the website samsung-firmwares have published several newer firmwares which people are using. They do certain things like make the phone run faster/better memory management, bug fixes and some people claim to get better GPS. You can install them using a software called Odin.
From what I have gathered, there will either be some sort of intermediate firmware from Samsung in the near future, or we may not see any official firmwares until the Froyo update possibly in September.
My Galaxy comes with the firmware JF7 and I got mine from hong kong. There are news floating around says that Froyo will comes to the Galaxy S in August for the Korea market, follow by France maybe?

The Samsung firmware website has only leaked versions of Froyo for now, will they be getting the "official" froyo fw once Samsung releases the official version in September?
Not sure what you mean, but any pre-releases will probably need to be wiped.
At the moment, there are very few good reasons to be using the Froyo prereleases anyway. They were probably only leaked because people got annoyed of the claims that Samsung was sitting on their arses doing nothing.
Sorry I wasn't being clear. What i meant was: Will the internet get the official froyo firmware once Samsung releases it?
I'm asking this because where I am I cannot update to froyo OTA so I will need to flash it.
Yes you will. The xda community will have it before it goes ota
i dont think galaxy s has an option of OTA updates. u probably need KIES to update firmware.

I checked with the Samsung guys here in Dubai and they flat out denied that the SGS will get Froyo OTA or through KIES. So I'll have to flash anyways

I don't think this can be true or makes any sense. OTA agree but update via Kies why not? I recently updated to XF5 via kies in Dubai and hope the froyo update also to happen via kies.
This is not an android market to worry about any copyright issues for them to stop releasing it here. Once they host in samsung I think it will appear via Kies.

With only the slightest difference in hardware from the international version, someone I know here in Korea got an OTA upgrade (he has MBP and hasn't even bothered to load Kies). I think the carrier here is their closest partner and that might have something to do with it. Not sure.

it'll be OTA for cell providers that offers that service
or via KIES
we in America got already JH2, with GPS fix and lag fix
it came out via KIES

Update through Kies in Dubai, that's good to know. Btw, does the XF5 have the android market app? You see that's the major reason I flashed to JG1 (Euro) rom.
On the other hand, if Samsung does release Froyo (through Kies) in Dubai, will there be a market app for it? I wonder.

Hi fakeullu, I have now realised that the update will be pushed to your kies based on what region ROM you already have in your mobile. So in that what you said and feared was right.
Even I had a SingTel (singapore) based SGS so the update that was pushed via Kies for me was again a singapore based one. I still had the SingTel based screens.
This is the same even for the locally purchased SGS in Dubai. You will get a Middle East based ROM, having said that there are multiple versions for a single region. For example, Middle East has some 3-4 different versions of FW. and good news is that some will have Market access. (you can refer to a thread called 'Samsung secret codes). These regions are identified based on a three letter alphabetical code like xsg for singapore and xfg for middle east.
In another thread on getting android market access - somebody was suggesting a technique to get access to android market and it worked for locally purchased device. Search for that thread.
I did the same and retained a singapore version while I removed successfully the SingTel customised contents out.
Dubai people flashed it to XFG and gained market access. So the next time you connect through Kies it will only push you a version that is compatible with XFG (the one that has market access).
I am sure this helps. You don't have to necessarily go for rooting and flashing a different regions ROM as the method I mentioned above is safe and without rooting and maintaining your warranty.
Cheers

Thanks for the comprehensive answer Sany. I've flashed to JG1 (Euro rom), so technically I should receive a euro update through kies even though I'm in Dubai?
Thats correct
Well sany, I did try updating through kies but it said no upgrade was available. Just like I thought. Anyways, I'm happy with flashing when Froyo roms (official) are released on Samsung firmwares website.
Hello,
I am just a bit curious. Most of the discussion around here did not mention about Three (3) network at all.
I am really tired on waiting for my Galaxy s update from Three...
If any news or information on Three (3) Froyo update, maybe we can discuss here or update here....
All of your help or news is really appreciated....
My phone details:-
GT-I1900HKAH3G
still in JG3 version
Changed Product Code
I originally had:
GT-I9000HKDH3G - (Three UK)
JF3
Updated it to:
GT-I9000HKDXEU - (Unbranded Europe/UK?)
JPO
Using the kies method ... I think to do it now you need to downgrade kies and then trick it into thinking it's already updated by editing the version string in the registry
I think he is looking for the official release through Kies. I would think by the end of November my friend. All networks have pretty much indicated this as has Samsung to a degree.
OPTUS I think from memory is supposed to be today.
How come you have JF3?
I am also from Three (3) UK, but I have JG1 and JG3...
I am trying to find out the information on the official update from KIES. I don`t want to root or trick the KIES to get an update yet...
I also heard the official FROYO update for Three (3) UK will be end of November, same as O2. But, O2 will give the update of Froyo earlier than expected. That is why tring to get some information.
Hope to hear from somebody about it...

There was a thread posted last week about froyo for Three handsets, but I believe that was referring to the general froyo release

couple folk in the thread you mentioned claim three has released froyo update but if you look on there site its definatly not available just yet. http://www.three.co.uk/Help_Support...SoftwareUpdate_show&content_aid=1220461902599
According to the the official Three Galaxy S blog http://blog.three.co.uk/2010/07/28/video-samsung-galaxy-s-on-three/ the update has been approved by them and they are waiting for Samsung to roll it out - they are unable to say when that will be.
Just keep checking I suppose.

Can you post the info from your Kies registry?
According to the three galaxy s blog : blog.three.co.uk/2010/07/28/video-samsung-galaxy-s-on-three/#comments
Froyo was live on keis on Friday, yet it still isn't showing up for me
Current Version : PDA:JG2 / Phone:JG1 / CSC: JF2
Anyone else upgraded officially from three
I will check that at home tonight. Will let you know in a few hours time.
It may take a while to get around to everyone.
I would wait a few hours and see if the update appears.
No update for me.
PDA: JG3 PHONE: JG1 CSC: GPG
"The device's version cannot be updated"
Hmm - There seems to be an update to Kies though. Wonder if it's related? Downloading now...
Oh well, updated Kies and still no Froyo update despite it having been 'available since Friday'
Same thing here ... got excited by the Kies update thinking I'll have Froyo afterwards
We'll just have to accept that Three are incompetent
I spoke to a Three Tele Team , He told me that It was a Beta Testing and got Out Mistakenly , And he confirmed its not Live at this Moment and he also confirmed that its coming out this Week Definetly ... and he told That you people will like the Froyo Update From Three ...
I dono if they also have people there like XDA , who do Lagfix and other Fixes .... Becz My Orignal 2.1 Three ROM had no LAG no , problems at all ....
Ah well, another day passes and no froyo for me, darnit!
Mmm now that would be lovely -- a fast stable Froyo I do experience lag from time to time -- esp sometimes when receiving a phone call ...

Not sure whether anyone in this thread will be able to help, but I've got a Galaxy S on Three and am wondering how it'll react when Froyo finally arrives.
You see, in a fit of frustration last month when Samsung said 2.2 was out for the Galaxy S, then suddenly said it wasn't unless you were Norwegian - I tried the Kies registry hack.
That caused weirdness with my phone, and ended up with leaving it only starting in recovery mode. Eventually Kies decided to reflash, and I seem to have ended up with some kind of unbranded firmware.
It shows up in Kies as PDA:JM2/PHONE:JM1/CSC:JM1, and says "This device's version cannot be updated".
Anyone know whether the release of the Three version of Froyo will fix this?
Thanks!

You wont be able to upgrade with 3 unless you get your old software back and the only way i know possible is by using the kies registry patcher.

Just for the fun of it does anyone out there with the confidence and ability to flash JPX want to try and see if the OTA update works and offers the JPY released today?
I was on jpx no ota so used Odin to flash jpy
not sure what you mean i am on jpy and tried to signup an account for ota.. but registration fails.

My account I signed up to on the PC and it works fine checks and says no update available as I had already updated to JPY with Kies. @got-petrol was JPY officially available then without hack as it is now?
please provide link to sign up on pc.. .i only tried on the phone.
This is where I originally registered but as you will see it has now changed
http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk
to
http://www.samsung.com /yourcountrycode
Just noticed something odd. The Login/register button does not show at the bottom of the IE window but does show on Firefox. Not sure why.
thanks you are right.. already had samsung account here in the. us. had to figure out pwd.. when i put acct in in the phone.. it did connect.. checked for update (i am on jpy) and said no update avail.
guess they havent implement the registration portion of the phone app yet.. but it is cool that the check worked.. i am with you now.. wonder if the upgrade would really be found and work?
@ Tehpriest it says on here that jpy has been released through kies with no hacks to xeu and cpw but i can use kies because of this when i installed it on my new pc windows 7 64 bit when i start kies i get a 20 boxers fsusbservice64 coming up with service initiali failed and i have to keep clicking yes to truten, inc it worked ok on my windows 7 32 bit pc what a pile of crap
Sorry. Not sure you understood the question. It was a test to see if the OTA is working. To do this someone would need JPX on thier phone as this is the first with the OTA option and as JPY is now officially released and if they have the XEU product code they should, if it has gone live, get an update notification. Then all with Kies problems will be able to forget Kies from JPX on :-D
I had JPX on GT-I9000HKDXEU and OTA just reported no update - had to use kies to update to JPY.
Cheers
Spen
I m on JPX and KOR code at the moment, checked the OTA ast night,i did manage to comunicate with the server, but no update was found...
I see a gap in my logic here. If it behaves like Kies then the phone would not only need to be XEU but would also need to have an officially released firmware (JPO) prior to the newest (JPY) for it to offer the update. So we will have to wait for JPQ now then I suppose.
