[Q] Does ROM performance speed highly depend on SD card class? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Sup all. I'm currently using Sandisk 8gb class 2 and I have tried mdj revolution 1.2 or smth, I have been enjoying it very much but it lags in menu sometimes, sometimes in other places, so I'd like to ask if micro SD class 6, for example, can fix it ..

A class 8 card will deliver much better performance than the stock 2gb samsung or a (possibly class 1) cheap card in apps such as music and gallery. It will not make the overall phone performance better
A better memory card would mean better read and write speed. Anything other than that would be the same
And you'll notice a faster speed in transfering files via usb from ur comp to phone.
Go with Class 4-8.

Does downloading apps slow me down

And if so would apps2sd remedy the situation?
I have a class 6 sd so I'm fairly sure it can handle the speeds the phone would demand from it..

No. Apps2sd should be ok. Most people say you should have a class 10.

Downloading apps does not slow you down, unless they are apps that are constantly running. Whether they are on your phone or SD it doesn't matter, that's just an issue of space.

PARANOIDANDROID SD Lagging help

Hey guys i recently installed the PARANOIDANDROID v1.0 for SD haret, as the days went by i loved having the new android on my phone, everything works perfectly the only problem i found was that it was very laggy when opening and closing apps, even small apps such as dialpad, i thought it was that i had bad memory, so i did abit of research and found 1post, hidden in all the millions of posts so i thought id just bring it to light as it worked for me but took me hours of searching so im just being helpful here by posting this, might not work for you but give it a shot anyway.
So if your Paranoidandroid is lagging try....Menu> settings> developer options> Background process limit..and set that...At most 2 processes
Now my phone works so fine, its a whole new experience from when i first installed it, if it doesnt work you can always turn it back
Hope this helped just trying to be helpful to those who are experiencing lagging and aint as up to speed with all this like most people here, please click thanks if it helped
Link to where i got it from and thanks to dimdimdim

It's normal for SD roms to stutter or lag especially if you are using an old/low cost class 2,4 or 10 sd card.

Actually class 2 cards are supposedly the best for SD Android. And when using Paranoidandroid on my class 2 SD card it was fairly good actually.

[Q] With bootable SD, Nook Color is SLOW

I finally got a bootable SD created for my Nook Color, but it is as slow as all get out when I try to use it in Android now.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.1.3.2.
Any suggestions? Would an older version of CM be any faster?
Thanks.

What brand and class of SD are you using? SanDisk class 4 are the best. Others are problematic. And yes, CM7 is faster.

I'm curious, why is a class 4 SD better than a class 10?

I know it is counterintuitive but faster is not better for running a ROM on SD. That is because the ROM needs a fast small file I/O capability to operate smoothly. And the actual best class for that are the class 4 cards, not the class 10 or U1 cards. There is an old thread in the Nook Color forum that explains this. It benchmarks many brands and classes and the Sandisk class 4 comes out best.
