WTF HD2 is now selling for 400-500, and its like 1years old the hell is going on. So I lost my HD2 and now these pricks are asking for more than it is worth as TMobile is out of it also. Some dude on craiglist selling me for $350 which I think is overpriced still. I need help ASAP
Desire HD < No US 3G
Any other phones? What about HD7? I heard you can change the mSD card?
So I decided to not to get the HD2 even tho it maybe been the best phone I have ever used, I think its time to put it down R.I.P. as I am not welling to pay $400 for a phone that is 1 years old as I paid the original one $750 months before it came out in USA. Even tho with my custom tweaks I still think my HD2 could have owned all yours
So ATM I am down to 2 phones as I do need GSM based which is both under TMobile the G2 (Desire Z) and myTouch 4G. But I am still surprised they still didn't have the HD2 standard (HD2 had it 1st so F the Evo fanboys) with 4.3" display. myTouch 4G does however beats down the Evo 4G with 1ghz 2nd gen snapdragon proc with Adreno 205 GPU which is what is under the hood in Desire HD which is what I wanted but in USA no 3G/HSPA+ support so it was a turnoff.

Uh, I got one off Craigslist for $150. USA T-Mobile right? Just patiently watch Craigslist and you should be able to find one.
you get what you pay for........
this phone is still worth the money.
Well JF316 I did see some offers on Craiglist but mostly all was around 300 and those that was below it are mostly used. ATM I am not welling to pay for HD2 when its old as I had my for over 10-11months and paid $750 for the Leo1024 (TMoUS Unlocked) model. But I have to say this phone was revolutionary. So when I can pay 300-350 and get better phone the MT4G why should I get HD2.
But the only thing I am disappointed at is that even now there are no GSM based phone following the full HD2 standard with 4.3" screen as the MT4G is 3.8". I know MT4G won't be something revolutionary as its already been out. I like to get my hands on things before it comes out. Also only reason I am getting it cuz I lost my HD2 which I wouldn't have replaced until there were dual core mobile processors.
But I can't also ignore the quadrant benchmarks for Evo 4G, Vibrant against MT4G. As the MSM8255 CPU and Adreno 205 GPU blows away the Snapdragon(1st gen)/Hummingbird CPU and Adreno 200/SGX 540 GPU. Also head to head with Epic/Evo/G2 this owns it in terms of speed also. Only downside I see ATM is 3.8" screen, guess we will have to see if bigger is better. Also it has no FM radio, but I can live with that as I don't listen to radio.
Just bought a "mint condition", (and it is), TMoUS HD2 for $285 shipped off EBay... Works for me...

Hallelujah. The HD2 is old but with Android, it runs better than the Desire HD.
I am using Darkstone SuperRAM Froyo v1.2
Dude did you check the Desire HD? Do not confuse it with Desire Z, As HTC-DHD is superior compared to HD2. I am in USA and there is no 3G/HSPA support as TMo use 1700mhz so I am taking what they do have which is HTC MT4G.
some builds on HD2 are FASTER than DHD, believe me, I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. But if I were you, I would go with the DHD, for the fastboot <3

The hd2 may be faster than a stock desire HD, but that's not a fair comparison as the hd2 builds are rooted and tweaked... once you root and tweak the desire HD, it will definitely be faster than any hd2 build.
Everyone always is trying to compare a hd2 running a rooted and modified android build to stock native android phones and says the hd2 is faster than native android phones, but those are not fair comparisons.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
The SuperRAM version of the HD2 Froyo by Darkstone is really rediculously fast. I have done simple comparisons against my colleague's Desire HD and neither of us can believe that a one year old phone (admittedly, modded to the hilt by some genious developers here on XDA) can outperform a brand new phone running its native ROM.
I would have replaced my HD2 long ago as I always get bored. But this phone is amazing because when I get bored, I just change the ROM and it's like a brand new device.
I just love it. Sorry for going on.
Hmmm I hope you are not talking about the quadrant benchmark on HD2. First of all the hardware speak for itself and if you OC the CPU just remember it can also be done in other device as normally so match to match it will beat it down. Also havent we already ruled out the quadrant benchmark under HD2 has glitch for high scores?
Trust me I am fully aware of the HD2 as I had cpu scaled on 998mhz native and 1036mhz on heavy load. But lets not fool ourselves here if HTC wasn't dumb and did support 3G in USA most of us would have upgraded to it. IDK why HTC make dumb decisions as even till today there is no viable alternative to HD2 (CDMA device does not count) for GSM based phones.

i dont know about you but i pay USD $128 including taxes for unlimited voice, data and 300 txts for TWO PHONES with tmobile
sprint 2year contract, i have NONE
evo4g $200+/- HD2 paid for already
wifi router $25+/- HD2 free eventually will be working
Even with it running off the SD card its still pretty damn good for a 100% daily use...at least for me it is, anyone can have a evo4g. Not to many can say they got a WM6.5 phone dual bootin android! Thats WOW.
double that.
there's not enough wow factor for me to switch over to sprint for an evo4g. there's no 4g in my area yet anyways. too much extra money, would feel like a waste to me.

You couldn't pay me to go to sprint. Sprint alone a reason not to get the evo. Unless your a huge nascar fan or something.
I was wanting to upgrade my GSM Hero to the Desire HD, but do not have the cash at the moment.. lol, sooo, my sister is with Sprint, and i was looking at the EVO 4G, and, it seems like the same phone pretty much? I was just wondering what input the wonderful people at XDA have on the EVO? thank you^^
You will get great feedback on it for sure, but how do you have the gsm hero (are you in europe) and trying to get the desire hd?
Anyways the Evo is a desire hd without the new look and without the new sense most of the stuff is the same , and is great device, is the only phone the hold me this long to get another One(I got it back in june 2010 when it came out ) and is the best android device in Sprint at the moment (sorry I hate the epic 4g) if you coming from the hero you will definetely feel it faster and better (specially cause of the processor and the big screen ) and they have offer online to get it at 150$ or maybe less on contract

I am in the U.S. and i got the GSM Hero unlocked, and was going to do the same for the Desire HD, but.. at around $450.. I decided to have my sister put me on her plan through Sprint so i could get it a lotttt cheaper, I think i read it $199 after the mail-in rebate, so.. $299, and I don't think it is bad and i would have better service than T-Mobile.. -.-; (GSM Hero isn't compatible with their 3G....)
you should look for the EVO online .. can get it even cheaper.
there is a $125 additional credit if you qualify for porting from another carrier. search for the details.
The Evo is a great phone. Giant screen, fast, smooth, efficient, excellent developer support (if you ever want to root your phone and flash stuff), it has 4g, there's a huge selection of good cases and accessories.
The bad?
Battery life
uhm
Battery life
but we're fixing that,
I figured battery life could be fixable with the right ROM etc.. Rooting it a difficult process? My Hero was crazy hard due to it being the first Android phone I touched, haha, and wouldn't the cheapest be through Spring? With the rebate and money off for the contract?

EDIT: and there's an a phenomenal development community here that is very fast, very active, and very good. The community here in this forum makes the Evo the best phone in the world, IMHO.

For what it's worth, I bought one on launch day and havent regretted it once. Even Sprint's customer service has been remarkable... which surprised me since I used them from 2000-2006 and it was always like dealing with "some guy" working out of the back of an old van...

The Desire HD is like a second generation EVO. Better display (SLCD), 50% more RAM, faster/more efficient CPU, a significantly better GPU, and way more internal storage.
At this moment it'd be kind of foolish to get a EVO. The newer HTCs are better, and their "real" next generation phones are just a few weeks away from being announced. TBH, the real handicap with the EVO is it's GPU and internal storage.
Well i paid for this month of T-Mobile, so it would be a couple weeks.. and Sprint is the cheapest way for me to get a new phone due to my sister being with them already..
I had the regular hero before the evo. I was happy with both.. Hero was al ittle dated tho.
You likely gonna get a more bias opinion here than anything else... but the EVO is a great phone. Of course it's fast and smooth and all that... but what makes it stand out IMO is the outstanding dev support for it.
The custom roms here range from Sense UI, to aosp like CM, even MIUI. I never tried MIUI but as far as the other roms, most are excellent. Smooth, awesome battery.. Devs constantly updating and making tweaks.
You also have a deep theme/mod section to play around with for the evo. The only knock I can think of is it is starting to slowly become dated.. but that doesn't at all make it a bad phone.

I have a Mytouch 3G at the moment, it's getting slower and slower everyday and it's driving me crazy. A friend of mine is willing to sell me his HD2 for $175 (comes with original packaging, accessories, etc.) Seems like a good deal to me, but I wanted to know some things before I make my decision.
Is ROM development active (for WinMo and Android?)
How well does Android run on the HD2?
How is the overall speed of the device on WinMo?
Am I getting a good deal?

it is really worth buying though the stoch wm sucks u can still upgrade to energy roms (the one which i preffer) it just sprints with android on nand and wp7 i havent tried ...comming bach to the question ya hd2 is quite stable and fast on energy roms but stock roms are crappy ... get it
I have a htc hd2. I like it very much. Yes you can flash this phone to andriod. It is very to flash it and there are tons if roms.
Rom development seems active.
Decent price.
I've bought 2 off CL here in the Bay Area.
One for $150 and one for $200.
Most of them are listed for much higher than that but I doubt they're selling.
Gotta be careful since many of the HD2s seem to be having hardware issues.
First one I bought is showing signs of impending MB failure which is no doubt why the dude sold it.
Not sure how one would test for that in a short meetup since it's intermittent.
OT: CL is filled with grifters and frauds anymore.
Just following in the footsteps of our politicians and business leaders I suppose.
Sigh.
...
man buy the hd 2... why not one of the best phones on the market...
Buy the HD2 and flash an android rom it will seem like a brand new phone.
Yes it is worth buying, especially for the amount of money you're getting it for.
Hell yes! All HD2s in my area go for 250+ on craigslist, plus this phone is just about the most supported phone with devs.
depending on the condition and cosmetics of the HD2, $175 is a good deal. Im used to android on my Glacier/mytouch 4G, and didnt like the stock win6.5 on the HD2 so I flashed android. ROM development is awesome and there are plenty of options to choose from(android, win6.5, wp7, meego, ubuntu). currently running cm7 rc4 and havent had any issues with the ROM or device
I bought my HD2 T-Mobile half a year ago on e-bay for $210 and it is really the best smart on the market nowadays.
This phone definitely worth buying (T-Mobile version is preferred since it has more memory).

Agree! Just to add that we all hope AT&T and T-Mobile merger never goes through and that way we keep using our HD2s in full 3G capabilities!!!
If we end up going to AT&T we are done with HD2 running 3G
I love my HD2 no doubt. But I'd say no, unless if you can get it for $125 or less. As much as you love a phone, remain objective on what exactly (in concrete terms) the hardware is netting you for the dollar you are forking over.
i just sold my HTC HD2 today.. i cant hide that im kind of sad for selling it because this is the best phone i have had and seen...
i dont know what im gonna get now but i would love some advices...
so what do you recommend me??
it has to be as good as htc hd2 or better (if exists one )
thanks in advances =)
Go for HTC Sensation!
If you're living in US maybe you should wait from T-Mobile coz I've been reading latest news that they will release Sensation too.
Well on HD2, T-Mobile version is quiet different from EU version, right? So maybe in this Sensation too.

Samsung galaxy s 2. Works with a T&t's 3g bands, but costs a hell lot. The price to pay for the best phone you can get at this time.
I mean tell me, which phone can run 20 tabs at the same time and play a HD youtube video fine? Pretty sure the sensation can't handle that with sense eating away the power.

Been released in Europe a couple of weeks ago.
I am also doubting between the Sensation and the S2.
I saw some 720P and 1080P videos that where taken with both phones at the same time and boy ow boy the Samsung kills the Sensation on that front by a mile.
Since my HD2 is in repair I had some issues concentrating (called toying)and bought myself the very cheap ZTE blade. After 3 days I am starting to fall in love with it (especially for the price I paid for it).
You could wait till aT&t releases their version, which will be cheaper prolly.

so im willing to pay 450 MAX maybe for the Samsung infuse, i saw some camera shots of that phone and i felt in love with it, but otherwise i really love HTC SENSE
it is so cute and unique!!
is there a way to have "like sense" in samsung infuse 4G?
or do i have to stay with the htc inspire 4G?
because i already look the motorola atrix and i didnt like it at all :S or can someone defend it?
Sense can be ported, but from how I see it, the infuse will not have a lot of devs working on it, so sense might be impossible in this situation.
I'd say go for the inspire 4g, lots of devs.
For one, i've never used a atrix 4g before, but I won't vouch for it being good. I've been to the atrix 4g forums when it came out, and all I saw was problems, problems, problems, "lagginess", screen was uninspiring, camera had issues, it's just not worth it as I see it.

Maybe the first released of HTC Sensation had locked bootloader (but with genius devs in xda I think it eventually will be unlocked no matter how it does to works ) that will make the phone couldn't installed with custom rom.
And you're absolutely right about HTC Sense. You can't leave that easily too.

Depending on whatS more important to you. Do you Carr if you have a physical keyboard? Larger screen? Cause to be honest most phones are around the 1.MHz to 1.2mhz and m then you have the dual core. I love the mt. It can literally do anything. Just the other day I blew up a car with it. Pretty badass.

i would recommend either the mt4g slider or the sensation but are new phone and personally i think they are the 2 best phones t-mobile has. they are both $200 i think.if you want netflix on it then deffinately go with the my touch 4g slide it's on sale right now on the site and comes out in like a week in the stores, so hold on and wait for that one if you want a my touch phone
The only problem for you would be getting MT4G at a price of $200 (assuming that your declared location is correct, which means you won't be buying a contract deal with T-Mobile, but paying full cash for the phone - in which case it'll cost you $450 with T-Mobile or a bit cheaper - just a bit below $400 - on eBay).
Personally, I think it's the most cost-effective phone on the market right now.

This +1
This phone can be troublesome with the chance of a bad screen/chip, I would just go for a dual core phone, they're faster and have better battery due to the way 2X cores work compared to 1 core devices. They will have better support for longer. But I'm waiting to get a new device when the Nexus 3 is around or Ice cream sandwich is out. When ICS is out they will have 720P res and no more HW buttons according to the news. And Quad-cores are in the works so it's really up to you, I would save my money up and stay with the G1, you had it this long so why not wait a little bit more? This phone is nice, but it's defiantly showing it's age now, official support will be dropped for this in a few months i'm guessing for the MT4GS and the successor for the MT4G, maybe MTHD or something.

I came from a g1 and it lasted me 15 months b4 i decided i needed a faster phone and it really was painfully slow compared to phones out these days, i lucked out and got a sweet deal on my current mt4g phone(even tho it has bad emmc chip, i still got a good display and no problems so far...) on craigslist. Which saved me my upgrade that's in august, but now that i have the mt4g it's really not as hard to decide to wait on the Hercules, Nexus 3 or whatever else is around the corner in 2012
Wait it out a bit longer if you've decided on the mt4g the slide is dual core beast, even the sensation will be fully unlocked and available to public in days.
Ace has a good point tho

Because you don't know what issues the Slide has then I wouldn't tell someone that this phone would be less troublesome. The Mytouch 4G could turn out to be a G2X, awesome phone if you have one that works. I'm sure everyone said the screen was great on the Mytouch, until they started comparing, and how long did it take to start noticing the very minor problem of the chips?
Get a MT4G from Craigslist... I always see them going for about 150-200$. Then keep that until the merger. That way you can get a phone with the appropriate bands. No use in using your upgrade then having the phone to be unusable within 8 months.

You don't say? That's like saying you traded up to a Corvette from a Yugo, and what do you know, the Vette was faster!
Hercules is gonna be ATT ready if the merger does go thru, so unless HTC makes the next nexus phone and has similar if not better specs then Samsung Hercules I'm upgrading to some super amoled + greatness.

Isn't the Hercules just an Infuse 4G on T-Mobile?

Only thing the infuse has in common with the hercules is the 4.5 inch screen and internal storage, the hercules has:
dual core 1.2 ghz Qualcom processor
1gb ram
42mb radio
NFC
1080p recording
Dunno about the battery yet, but those specs alone have me sold unless the nexus 3 can dethrone it.
**I got my mt4g thru craigslist as well lol**
From what I see, the OP is from Israel. So I guess craigslist will not work

They have Craigslist in Israel
I'd guess that the OP is visiting or about to visit the US, that's why he's asking.

The nexus prime is suppose to have a 720P HD screen, ICS, no buttons on front, super amoleds, OMAP4460 @1.5GHz. It looks really nice too with no buttons.
