I intend to get one on the 3 network Data only sim, just concerned if it will work or not.
Thanks in advance.
I have a tab on the three network that is data only, no voice minutes included, just 5GB per month.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab
Yeah, it works perfectly.
I managed to pick up two of the 1gig/month rolling contract sims (£5 each/month). One for me, one for the other half. Works with no issues, including tethering.

Hello everyone
Did enyone now did that phone work on three network in england...?
Currently i'm on contract with three network & want to buy hd2 but im not sure is 100% work in three network.
Went to few mob seconhand but all hd2 was locked to t-mobile or vodafone so cant't testet with my sim card.
will appreciate if anyone can help
ps. sorry 4 my poor english
I'm with 3 and everything has been perfect up until recently when my phone stopped connecting to the internet when I'm at home/in the area around home. I have a strong signal but just can't connect to the internet. The strange thing is that:
- I have no problems connecting to the internet when I move to a different area/suburb
- Can connect to the internet when I stick my girlfriend's 3UK SIM card in the HD2
- Can connect to the internet with my SIM card in another phone.
The problem just seems to be with my SIM in the area that I live so I tried replacing my SIM card to see if that would fix the problem. Unfortunately it didn't so I'm not sure whether the problem is with 3 or the phone.
Sorry about the long-winded story. The point of it all is that I've encountered this funny problem, don't know what is causing it and 3 won't provide any support because I'm not using one of their phones.
I have an hd2locked on o2, and when I put another sim in it fails to register the network.
a friend came round last week and tried his 3 sim in my phone and it didn't even recognize there was a sim there at all, so I would be very wary of buying without trying if I were you.
I have been using the operator 3 for more than two years (different phone models) and I have never had any issue.
Currently, I use 3 on my HTC HD2 (Generic HTC - Sim Free) and works perfect.
The internet connection, email, mms, sms, everything works perfect.
im currently replying with a 3 sim in my htc branded hd2..
even though im on vfuk the signal is so poor that I got a 3 sim to test on their old payg 5quid unlimited net.
I get full hdpda signal and its much quicker than the same with vf when I can find a decent hspda signal with them.
seriously contemplating going to them full time when my contact ends with vfuk. as it stands I just use this at home for data and the vf for voice.
im on 3 network with a retail unlocked hd2 and can report no probs. hspda nice speed where i am, internet tethering fine to. cheers
I've got my hd2 from virgin it came unlocked but 3g signal is very weak indoors so I still use my old three card and it works perfect.
hi
thx 4 help
Three web show excellent broadband cover so hd2 should be work well.
The point of it all is that my contract is running out in 1march and three is offering me 750min 150txt 50videocall and internet =12.50£ 12month contract with some sony T715(warth90-130£ ebay) or 25£ 12month htc hero so If i will sell one of thoes phones on ebay will get money back and 12month contract will cost me around 30£ + htc hd2 around 400£= around430-450£
or
other option 1year contract with vodafone 40£/mount+84£ handsed cost =564£ 300min unlimited txt unlimited internet but fair usage policy of 500MB...?
Summarise Three=450£ vs vodafone=564£
any advice...?
Picked up my Tablet yesterday from T-Mobile. Connected to the web etc using Wi-Fi because I had lots of software to download. Could NOT get any data with my sim card.
I am grandfathered into a data package with T-Mobile which gives me Unlimited Data for $19.99 plus a voice package. Support told me that for this tablet to work I had to upgrade to their Web Connect package for $39.95 and I would NOT have voice. [because they INSIST voice is IMPOSSIBLE with the Galaxy Tab.] [whatever]
I didn't want to agree to their upgrade because my sim works PERFECT in my Dell Streak 5 .. I believe that there is something wrong with the Gal-Tab. I kept telling them that the internet net was the same in their web connect package, it was just more expensive. They told me I was wrong. So I said .. OK make the change. They did and 12 hours later I still cannot connect.
I contacted them this morning and got them to give me my OLD $19.99 internet package and voice back ..
SO .. Any ideas ?? I even tried changing the APN on the Samsung to the same as on my streak. My streak is epc.mobile.com .. the Samsung had it as epc.tmobile.com
I had an issue with my data when I first got my tab too - the support personnel signed me up for an incorrect data package and all I got was a redirect to a Tmobile page when trying to use the browser (and no data on any other apps).
After talking to Support they changed my data package and voila, it worked.
So what's going on - unfortunately T-Mobile US filters Galaxy Tab's by IMEI. As such, they completely block it from working on any plan other than the data plan built for it. Despite the fact that the tab is technically capable of being a phone, T-Mobile will not allow it on their network.
So your telling me when I get my galaxy tab if I pop in my wifes T Mobile sim it wont work. That is truly annoying.
Instead of getting a new data package I am going to just pay the 10 a month to add mobile hot spot to her phone which will work great (maybe even faster because she has 4G on her phone)
THANKS .. I hate T-Mobile but have been with them for 8 years .. I guess I have just learned to put up with their NONSENSE !!
Since Dell Streak 5 came from AT&T Tmo does not have records and treats it as a smartphone. The same will be true for the Galaxy Tab purchased from AT&T. You will be able to get data and even voice using other Tmo Sim after reflashing proper firmware.
But since these two carriers use different frequencies for 3G you would get only EDGE.
It is hard for us to understand rational for such decisions. It seems that they are loosing Tab sales. Why do European carriers find it profitable while US not?
there is a way to get both voice+data on the tab using a standard t-mobile sim with data+voice. 1-you need to flash an European ROM to get voice and 2-then there is the issue of the IMEI which blocks the tab from accessing the web with a sim that already has data.
the second part cant really be posted as i was already removed by the mods due to rules violations, but it can be done i am using my Vibrants SIM on the tab.
Sounds like someone failed to do their homework. T-mo Tab is suppose to be data-only device and utilizes different APN's with custom modem firmware then smartphones, hence why your SIM would not work. You need to root the Tab, flash Euro firmware, then flash a custom modem. Instructions can be found in the development forum. Also, keep in mind that flashed T-Mo Tab can only get EDGE, no 3G.

That's not correct! You can get 3g data with your T-Mobile sim card with the correct modem. Just use roto-modem switcher

I think all our posts can confuse anyone.
The question was about using Tmobile smartphone Sim with the Tmobile Tab.
Let me say this: there is no way to get legitimely both voice and data on Tmo network using Tmo Sim. You can get voice without cellular data, or 3G data with different modem and separately paid broadband service Sim not the smartphone Sim.
I put my Sim card from my MyTouch 4G on the Tablet and phone works n/p but you need to flash a Euro rom! Thats it bottom line! Flash The rom and you will have phone access
hello
anybody can confirm if having 2 SIMs 1 for data and 1 for voice (same carrior) is doable? the data plans on normal voice lines are very expensive (Mobily, KSA) but the purly 3G sims (used mostly for tablets and 3G routers) are very cheap. i was wondering if there is a way to get the best of both worlds
I guess it cant be done. ohh well
I put in my chip and it can't connect at all? Is there anything special I need to do to be able to connect to AT&T?

That thread should work. One thing to remember, if you don't have an LTE data plan on your account then you need to use "phone" instead of "pta," which is also mentioned in the post.
I called them last night, from the new phone, after popping my iPhone 4 (3g speed) sim in. Told them I wanted to re-provision my grandfathered unlimited plan to a Smarthphone 4g plan. When they asked I just gave them the IMEI off the Nexus and said it was an LG phone (Optimus G, I did have to re-iterate that a few times to them). Then used the 'phone' APN, 'pta' wouldnt work as I think thats LTE specific, and when they told me to reboot I had data. Checked my at&t account immediately after, and my old Unlimited Data for iPhone had been changed to "Data Unlimited SmartPhone Personal". Was pretty easy =)
I use my pure with t-mobile and will travel to Japan next month for 1 week. I read that wifi calling is not available on this phone at all. I plan to rent a portable hotspot anyhow, so does the sms or mms still work?
I was also checking out how to turn off data roaming on my phone and noticed it was already off but hasn't affected anything so far. Is that normal? I was hoping to at least have text working or would have to revert to email to keep in contact with my family if we separate.
I'm not entirely sure what you are asking here... SMS and MMS will need a connection to T-Mobile, the later will require data connection.
WiFi isn't really "international" or US or Japan, it is just WiFi... although there are some regulatory aspects to it (and channel restrictions in the US), your WiFi should work just fine in Japan. Before getting or renting a hotspot, check out where you are going and look into Softbank's Free WiFi Passport and Travel Japan WiFi, they require registration but can get you free WiFi at almost 500,000 locations in Japan for 2 weeks, there are also paid WiFi networks you can subscribe to. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2279.html
You might want to look into a Google Voice account, set it up before you go, or get a local SIM.
You could also change your T-Mobile plan to T-Mobile ONE and Simple Choice North America for the term you are there, it would likely cost more but offers free data, text and 20 cent/min voice calls.

By chance did you end up testing your data speeds in Japan? I am going there in a month and am trying to avoid a pocket wifi unless absolutely needed.

I leave on Friday and may end up getting a pocket wifi for 1 week @ $50. T-mobile said my data and all text is still unlimited over there but it caps at 3G speed and I prefer to to have something with us instead of looking for wifi hotspots. Voice calls are $.20/minute, so wifi will have to be enough.

Does google voice use data only? I have a Voice acct and if I rent a personal hotspot, that would work out nicely. I'm a little worried about not being able to make any voice calls in Japan since there's a T-mobile charge. But if our hotspot covers text and google voice, I think we're all set.

It can... Install the Google Voice app or use the Hangouts Dialer plugin.and it can run completely on data.
thats what i am planning to do when i go to the carribean for a few months. i dont have tmobile but when i get there im going to do google voice on one of my phones and a simcard from there for another. check your prices though because what i found is amazing over there. so which ever works cheapest i may go with, but i have been integrated with google voice for years with sprint
